Satellite L775D

I turn on the power and it goes to the Toshiba start screen, where i can press f2 or f12. Then the screen goes black and after a second or two the same screen comes on again. It does this over and over and will not go beyond that screen. Can somebody help?

Hi DerrickStevenson29,
May I have the model ? ex. SATELLITE L775D-XXXXX
Have you tried to completely turn off the laptop, unplug the power cord, remove the battery then press hold the power button for at least 20secs to drain the flea power of your laptop. After 20secs install the battery, plugin the power cord then power on your laptop.
Hope this works for you!
BTW IF YOU THINK IT HELPS ALOT. PLEASE DONT BE AFRAID TO CLICK KUDOS star ^_^

Replaced Hard Drive with upgraded 1TB. Replaced Memory Module with upgraded 8GB module. If you have difficulty restoring the hard disk using Toshiba recovery media, it's probably because the new drive has advanced-format technology. See my post from long ago here.
We've learned since then that all sorts of difficulties can occur. You probably need to introduce the new storage driver early in the process. See this message.

  • Need some Driver Help / Satellite L775D-S7206

Getting to be such a common request these days.
I have a Satellite L775D-S7206 in which the hard drive died.
I replaced it with a 128G SSD and a new copy of Windows 7.
I have everything up and running great but I do show one Error and that is on the SM Bus Controller.
Can someone point me in the right direction to this driver?
      Thanks !

    Satellite L775D-S7206
Best to restore the new drive to the original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. That way you needn't struggle with drivers and utilities. And Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn the recovery discs, you can order them.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
Home Premium already includes Pro and Ultimate, BTW. It's only a matter of unlocking the features.

  • Driver up dates Satellite L775D-S7222!

Hi I need some advise. I have two free programs telling me My AMD driver needs up dating. But when I use device manager to up date; after up dating AMD with either program, it finds and installs a different version??? The reason for this message is after up dating the AMD driver with Slim Driver, I started to get a error in my reliability history. I have very little knowledge about these things and I'm confused. I'm going to attach some screen shots and hope some one here can tell me what's going on.

Hi CB! Thanks for your reply. My main goal was to show what part Reliability History played in this. I agree with you about not fixing some thing that isn't broke. I like to try different things; learn from them, and pass it forward. I always have a back up plan that I can revert back to. Also both these programs have a feature to roll back the driver just like the option in Device Manager has. I hope you looked at my screen shots!!

It's usually suggested that you restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
That tells you if there's a software problem.
I believe this could be windows 7 issue. have a friend who has Dell and has similar problems .

  • Satellite L775D clock running fast

Our tech support friends are stumped by this one so I thought I would try polling the "unwashed masses":
The clock on the Satellite is always running fast, approx 15 minutes every 12 hours regardless of turned on, turned off, sleep, AC plugged in, AC not plugged in.
So far we have unchecked the automatic sync with internet time.windows and reset the BIOS settings, with no improvement.
    Any thoughts / suggestions?
    TIA  Keith
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Let's start here.
Keith, open Services (services.msc) and verify that the Windows Time service exists and that Startup Type is set to Manual.
If it's not started, start it. If it won't start, give us the message.
If all that's okay, come back for more.
Also, tell us which Satellite L775D that is and the bitness of Windows.

  • Satellite L775D-10E - No sound trough HDMI

    Hi!
I can not get sound trough HDMI. Only speakers exist as an alternative in sound devices. How can I correct this?
The computer is a Satellite L775D-10E. Of cause have i tried different cables and tv:s as well as a projektor. The problem is that I do not have HDMI ouput as an alternative.

    > The problem is that I do not have HDMI ouput as an alternative.
Thats very strange. Every notebook preinstalled with original Toshiba recovery image that includes right sound driver has this option.
So can you please tell us s your notebook still with factory settings or you have modifies preinstalled OS or maybe installed own version?

  • Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7210 - Won't boot, Power & WiFi LED lit

I have a Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7210 laptop that refuses to boot properly. I've owned this laptop for about 4 years and this problem just happened a few days ago. It can turn on, but it leads to a blank screen (as if the lcd is disconnected from power) and only the small Power indicator and WiFi light is lit while the others are off.It does not show any BIOS or POST screen. While it's on, I can hear a electrical whirring sound coming from the underside of the logic board, and the Optical disc and hard disk exhibit accessing activitity. Then, after a few seconds, the CPU fan starts running. This laptop stays powered on forever and the only way to turn it off is to hold the power button or remove the charger or battery. The events that occurred before this blank screen problem was a simple file transfer between the internal hard disk in IDE mode and a cruzer glide 16gb flash drive. Nothing out of the ordinary, just your standard drag-and-drop file transfer. When i completed this file transfer, i rebooted the PC into the BIOS settings. I was going to install Windows 7 fresh, so I went to the setting that had the options for AHCI or IDE, and changed it to AHCI. I saved the changes and rebooted. On the next boot, I got a blue screen error while it was loading the old Windows 7 partition that was left there. It crashed and rebooted. On this next reboot, the laptop could no longer boot and showed a blank screen with just the power light indicator on. And, nothing else would work after that (usb, keyboard, etc). It just stayed blank. How could have this problem have happened? It was very, very random and out of nowhere. How could a change of the BIOS settings cause this corruption? I am not sure if the BIOS needs to be reflashed; I am unable to access the BIOS because the LCD display or externally attached display never prompts with the boot logo. What could the issue be? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, - forestvenue

I had a customer with the same issue.  Said it prompted him to update bios.  Afterwards, it came up with "starting windows" and just a few pixels of the windows logo cam up and then froze.  Couldn't boot to safe mode either.  Called toshiba and they recomended restoring the system to factory settings. But I didn't end up having to do that.
Toshiba said it was set to FAST BOOT which is why no POST messages came up.  This can be set using the hwsetup utility, but that means booting windows.  So, I was going to restore to factory condition.
    HERE'S WHAT FIXED IT
To go into system recovery, press and hold 0 (zero) while turning the computer on.
1st, I didn't have the power supply (customer didn't bring it to me) and the power light just blinked 4 times.
After getting a power supply I turned it on holding the 0 down.
This gave me the chance to press F2 to go into BIOS settings.
Set BIOS settings to defaults.  Then DISABLE THE FAST BOOT FEATURE (didn't record where that was in the menus)
Saved BIOS and rebooted and windows started!
    Good luck!

  • Satellite L775D S7305 freezing

I have a little problem of my laptop freezing up on me and when it freezes I can not do any thing but push the power button. Here is the specs.
    Satellite L775D S7305
    AMD A6-3400M APU W/Radeon
    64bit 8GB RAM
    500GB HD
This just started about a week ago and the weird thing is I have not installed any new software or hardware.
Bought the laptop form Best Buy and the RAM. I had a problem with some software that would not install correctly and had to do a restore, which by the way worked great. Got my software installed and everything was just great for about 4 weeks nothing wrong. Then all of a sudden the laptop starts locking up, and it does not matter what I'm doing. I can be working on some HTML files with note pad and it will lock up to the point I have to push the power button.
I have a old Satellite M35X-S163 with 2GB RAM and Windows XP and have never had this type of problem.
I have one other problem that for some reason on one can answer Other Problem.
It would be nice if I can get this problem fix so I can do some work and make some money.

brad55: Are you still looking for help with this? Sounds like the same problem we had with my daughter's 2-month-old Toshiba Satellite® L775D-S7222. Briefly, after much trial and error, I determined that it was in fact a HARDWARE problem, NOT software as we initially expected, and it was fixed ONLY after a return to Toshiba factory service for a motherboard swap. I'll be happy to write up the full particulars of MY experience, but I don't want to take the time to do that UNLESS you are still seeking a possible solution to YOUR problem. -- EstherD

  • Problems with Satellite L775D-S7305 System Recovery Process

    1.  Grandson accidentally erased 500GB internal hard drive. Recovery partition was not available.  Ordered, paid for and received Toshiba "SW Media-DVD-SATELLITE-L775-Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium-EN" recovery media.
    2.  While going through recovery process (3 times) to "Restore to Factory Out of the Box Settings" using Disk 1 of 4 - received "can't read from source file or disk" read errors from the following four boot related files:
    (a)  Boot64.WIM, Type: WIM File,  Size: 142 MB,  Date Modified: 11/3/11 12:28pm
    (b)  BCD,  Type:  File,  Size:  256 Kb,  Date Modified: 11/4/10 5:52pm
    (c)  Boot.SDI,  Type:  SDI File,  Size:  3.02 MB,  Date Modified: 11/4/10  6:18pm
    (d)  EFTSBoot,  Type:  MS-DOS Application,  Size:  4.00 Kb,  Date Modified:  11/4/10 5:52pm
    (e)  At end of Disk 1 recovery process received error - Toshiba Recovery Wizzard INITRECAREA.EXE - Application Error.  "The instruction at 0x75D5FF26 reference memory at 0x01D700.  The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc000009c."  The Recovery Process was terminated due to Error 9c.  Select (Finish).
    3.  Reported issue to Toshiba Support - who sent a new set of recovery media to verify if either defective recovery media or defective installed 500 GB hard drive.
    4.  Repeated recovery process (3 times) with new media set - had exact same results as above.  Assumed had internal hard disk problem according to Toshiba Support.
    5.  Ordered, received and installed new 1 Terabyte Toshiba 2.5 inch internal hard drive (PH2100U-1I54).  Reset BIOS to Default (F2, F9, F10) and system recognized new hard drive as MQ01ABD100.
    6.  Repeated recovery process (3 times each) with both sets of recovery media - had exact same results as above.
    7.  Reported issue to Toshiba Support and asked because obtained same "can't read boot related source file errors" on two sets of recovery media with two different hard drives - was there a possibility of defective recovery media, or some other problem?
    8.  Toshiba Support would not acknowledge and indicated could not send another recovery media set because had already sent two.  Also indicated new hard drive was probably improperly installed (because of configuration issues) and recommended seek local technical assistance.
    9.  Sought local technical assistance and was not able to recover system using Toshiba recovery media (said to be defective).  Verified sucessful installation of internal hard drive and no other laptop problems.
    10.  Able to re-install system using Windows 7 Professional installation CD, downloading YTD Toshiba BIOS and hardware drivers, and installing latest ATI video/graphics drivers.

I understand the issue you're having & realize that it's a frustrating experience going through this. Can't understand why it didn't work with the original hard drive, unless it had some bad sectors or possibly even bad RAM. The tech who checked it out would have (or should have) caught any RAM issues.
However, on some systems, an extra DVD should be in the ordered recovery set in case a new or different size HDD is used, I had this experience with HP. Installed a 750GB WD Caviar Black in place of the OEM supplied 320GB Caviar Blue, my created recovery DVD's (3) wouldn't do the job. HP provided me a new set with the 4th DVD for $16. It worked. I didn't realize it until later, the ISO for that issue could have downloaded from the site. My fault for not checking.
Makes me wonder if this was the case in your situation. This doesn't happen often, but when it does, that extra DVD is needed.

At any rate, glad to hear that you got it working, though probably your complete utility package wasn't installed. More than likely enough to be OK though, some of these options are seldom used, & are simply using drive space, especially those with SSD's. I just clean installed Windows 8 Pro onto my Toshiba A665-S6086 & after using the Toshiba Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to install the needed software (I chose all), it's the largest Windows 8 Pro install that I've done (after all updates/apps were installed). Usually less than 30GB is used, counting Office 2010 Pro Plus, this one is 38GB, was 44GB until the temp files & restore points except the last were deleted.
    Best of Luck,

  • Satellite L775D-S7340 factory restore without disc?

Is there any way to factory restore this computer without the CD disc? It has been acting odd ever since we've owned it and windows updates every daya for hours. I see that most people are downgrading these computers to windows 7. This one has 7 installed and it seems to be factory. Has a windows 7 product key on the bottom. This computer is my cousin's and he needs it for school. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

See that computer's User's Guide starting on page 62 for full instructions and your options.  Your cousin was instructed to make recovery disks himself when he first started the machine but apparently he did not.

  • Satellite L775D-S7220 = APU Upgrade and speakers

As the title indicates, I have an L775D-S7220. I have a new APU coming in for it.
The currrent model is an A4-3300M. I am going to be installing an A8-3510MX.
I know about the increased TDP, going from 35W to 45W, and am fine with that.
My main concern is whether or not the BIOS has the 3510 plugged in so I can just plug and play. If it isn't, can anyone point me to where I can get an open or cracked version of the BIOS to tinker with to allow the new chip?
Also, thanks to my ex, the speakers on my laptop are shot. I cannot find replacement ones anywhere. Can anyone give me a hand with that as well?
    Thanks in advance!
    Silver Fire

Yea, I did *kindof* notice what forum I am posting on.
Yes, I know that Toshiba does not support an APU swap, it's against warranty, etc etc.
My laptop is out of warranty, and I really don't care if I can't send it to be repaired by Toshiba, since I generally do all my own work anyways.
However, I do know that the original community usually is capable of finding more in depth answers about equipment than an outside one. It's only logic. Plus my original question on whether or not the 3510 is sourced in the BIOS is a rather common one among people whom own laptops and do their own upgrades.
As for the Ebay thing, yes, I tried there. I've done numerous searches and queries, and cannot find any information on the speakers at all, much less someone selling replacements. Hence my asking on here, in the off chance that someone might know the model numbers from the speakers, or a source to buy new ones at.

  • F3-F100-0003 error Satellite L775D-S7108

I'm going to post another thread on this error since I don't believe I have found an adequate explanation in reading the existing posts.
this computer had just eaten it's THIRD hard drive. There first two were the original Toshiba ones. One died after 5 months, the second after 7 months (just out of warranty of course). The third drive was a Seagate I bought because I was so disgusted with Toshiba. I now firmly believe there is something very wrong with the hardware of the laptop itself.
can anyone shed any other light on this? Needless to say this is most inconvenient and is preventing me from performing essential work.
I assume that "real" Toshiba employees don't get involved with these support forums, not that I expect they give a **bleep** anyway, they haven't up until now, and so I am resigned to buying a product that works reliably and junking this paperweight.

I'm a little confused.  when do you get the error message?  Is it a "blue screen"?  Is there any other information you could provide such as how you restored the other hdd's with the OS?  I agree with Eagle that heat is a laptop killer and certainly AMD chips run hot.  I have a few ideas but would like to get some more detail from you first.

Does your wireless connection also disconnect from time-to-time without warning? e.g. does it have low signal?
Wi-fi often doesn't work well with poor signal or interference. Try moving around the house to different areas and make sure any other electronic devices that generate radiation (e.g. cellular phones) are switched off.
Does the connection speed improve in different locations?
Have you also tried using your laptop with someone else's router? Try going to an internet cafe and use the wi-fi there. Do you get the same?
First try to identify whether it is a hardware/software problem (do you have the latest drivers?), a signal/router problem (too much interference on that frequency), or an environmental problem (interference from other wi-fi, concrete walls etc).
