Satellite laptop: connecting video out to projector causes hum in (headset) audio output

Our church connects video output from the laptop to a projection system and audio out (via headset jack) to a sound board mono channel (line in).  Stereo to mono adapter.  We get a significant hum in the audio whenever the video cable is plugged in.  Doesn't matter whether the attached projection equipment is on or off, it's all about plugging the video cable into the laptop.  Unplug the video cable and the hum disappears.  Obviously we have tried all sorts of things to isolate the problem but it all comes back to plugging in that video cable.  We made sure there were no nearby power supplies or other equipment that might throw out interference.  Has anyone ever encountered this problem and  have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Using a Satellite PSBY1U laptop.  Video out is not HDMI but the other (VGA?) connector.  We are connecting audio out from the headset jack direct to a mixer channel.  No microphone is connected to the laptop.  We looked at every sound and video-related menu we could find and could not see any settings that would seem to be relevant to the problem (we changed lots of settings anyway and nothing helped).  Naturally we played with audio volumes, different auto cables, etc.  Bottom line is we get clean audio until we plug the video cable into the laptop, then we get a very prominent hum from the audio output.  Video cable goes straight to a projector, doesn't matter whether the projector is turned on or off.  The audio and video cables are never closer than four inches from each other.  It's weird.

  • Satellite 1800-100: video-out does not work

    He,
I just installed windows XP on my old Satellite 1800-100, but now my video-out does not work anymore. So I just downloaded the latest driver, but there's no way I can get it installed. According to Windows the new driver isn't newer, so it won't let me update it. And when i try to unistall the display driver, I have to reboot before it takes effect, and wile rebooting it automaticly installs the standard driver again.
    Can anybody help me?
    Greets,
    Daan

    Hi
Do you mean TV- out port or monitor port? As far as I know this unit is preinstalled with WXP Home and all drivers can be also used for WXP Pro.
Did you preinstall your own OS (non recovery image)?

  • No Audio When using Video Out to Firewire

I do not get any audio when I use Firewire ntsc as my video out. When I set video out to canvas playback then I get audio. I want to use print to video but I cannot because the audio will not work with Firewire. I get the image on my external monitor but not the audio. I checked to make sure and the audio was not on the recorded dvd. I cannot not use print to video with canvas playback.
My Easy Setup is Format: NTSC, Use DV NTSC DV Converter. I tried using Firewire basic and got the same results.
    Please Help
    Ken

The audio does not play at all from the timeline if video out is set to Firewire. To answer your question, no the audio does not play in the external monitor when playing back from the timeline when Canvas is used as the video out. However, I don't believe the converter box is the problem. The audio would play in the internal speakers when using firewire as video out but it does not.
Is there a problem with FCE 4?

  • Any GPS/NAVI apps with video out feature??

Are there any GPS navigation apps out there for the iPhone that will work with the video out? My car stereo has an audio/video input, I have the a/v connector and I'd love to run a GPS app for navigation and display the NAVI video and audio on my head units audio input. I know that some dont support the video output feature, know of any that do?

I just tested it on my Nokia N8 (Running Symbian Anna ) and Nokia Beta Labs latest version of the Camera application.
I have set so capturing geolocation information is saved for video.
I Record a video and as you say if you playback the video right away Choose Options -> Details  I get the GPS location shown.
I  then go to Meny -> Photos
Choose the Check button (bottom left)
Then select the Video, then go to Options -> Details
I also get the GPS coords under Location here.
This location data is not shown if you show details under Meny -> Videos though..

  • Only audio output is Digital Out

My MBP has been connected to an external monitor and speakers for about a week (not unusual) and I just disconnected it and am using once again as a laptop. I noticed however, I can't adjust the volume, nothing comes out of the speakers and the only audio output device is Digital Out, no speakers.
    How can I fix this?

  • How to connect Digital Optical Audio output iMac with Receiver Input

I have connected iMac with onkyo hts-3300 home theater system receiver through optical audio TosLink Cable.( http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Audio-TosLink-Cable/dp/B001ZU3G2I/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&qid=1292865309&sr=8-2 ). Unfortunately there is no sound coming out from the Home theater system. I have verified the Receiver optical input is working fine by connecting with my TV optical audio digital out put and the it's working great. The only difference between TV and iMac is, on my TV, it has optical audio digital output and I can use this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-A102-02M-Digital-connectors/dp/B0002WPREU/ref=s r11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297320792&sr=1-1) to make it work. I can also verified my optical audio TosLink Cable working because I can see the red light coming out from the cable. So the only problem could be from iMac. I doubt I need to change the additional setting to configure iMac to use external optical audio setting instead of the buit in audio setting. Hoe can I able to do it? or my iMac(IMAC 21.5"/3.06/2X2GB/500GB/9400M-ITP
MB950ZP/A) doesn't support optical digital audio out put? I have follow this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12769423&#12769423 and to my surprise which doesn't work out for me. I doubt that i need to change some setting, but when I got to setting>> sound I cannot change any setting. I was quite depressed aldy. Can someone answer my question as i m a newbie here. Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your reply.
@Király : May i know how to Open Audio Midi Setup? Is this Audio Midi Setup is in the locatated in the Setting in Mac Snow Leapord OS? or how to locate this "Audio Midi Setup " in Mac enviroment. Is it possible to open this Audio Midi Setup in windows 7 enviroment also? I Just want to get the audio from my iMac in Hts-3300 onkyo home theatre. YOur help is much appreciated
@rkaufmann87 : Thank you very much for your sharing about this http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ connection. for me what i understand is the digital audio output in airportexpress is the same as the audio out put in iMac in terms of details sepcs. So this airportexpress will only help you connect wirelessly to home theatre system, rather than waired connection. Other than that nothig much difference. So there is no point for me to spend extra bucks to attain the wireless connection. Unless the airportexpress have optical digital input, which i believe not. Correct me if I m worng, thanks

  • Select HDMI audio output when headphone connectted

In Snow Leopard, I can connect my headphone to Mac Mini, and select HDMI audio output when I want sound from monitor, or select headphone.
But in Lion, I can not select HDMI when headphone is connectted, so I have to plug/unplug headphone very often, quite anoyying...
How can I disable this feature?
    Thanks.

I've just started a thread regarding this exact issue, but in Mountain Lion.  Did you ever solve it?  Or, if you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, do you still experience it?
EDIT: Almost exactly 1 year later you get a response. lol.

  • How do i get video out to connect to aprojector

How do I get video out of my Ipod touch(4th gen) to connect to my projector. I have the correct cable and the projector work fine when connected to my laptop, mirrors the creen correctly But I cannot get an output from my Ipod.Cheers

    hi
I think I have found the app, I was not seeing  the obvious, so I can now play videos on the Ipod itself.  With regards the cable it is a Dexim unit which plugs into the long Ipod socket on the base. From that unit there is a cable terminated with jackplugs. One end into the dexim unit another into the projector. As I said it worked fine on a 2nd generation, I just played the video on the 2G Ipod and it came thru onto the projector. Hence my thought that it was a setting and/or app on the 4thG Ipod.
Again many thanks for all your help, at least it is improving my knowledge of Ipod
    Cheers
PS started with the ipod download guide but the problem isnt addressed hence my plea on this forum.
PPS I've emailed Dexim to see if just in case the unit  I have isn't compatible with 4thg Ipod for some reason

  • Video out to a projector

I just bought a fire wire 366mhz clamshell off eBay.
Can I hook this laptop up to a video projector?
Does it have a video out?
I have seen cables for sale on eBay that states they are for some g3 units, is mine equipped for it?
Ibook clamshell - 366mhz with firewire   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

Yes, yours is equipped. You'll need the composite out connector here...
You can buy it here ...of course your projector will have to accept RCA type inputs.

I need to connect I-Mac G5 to HDMI TV, I think I need this: Video Out: mini-VGA (mirror only) to HDMI, where can I buy? Apple Bluewater no help.

VGA is an analog signal HDMI is digital. A simple cable would not work you would need something that converts the analog signal to digital.
A search of VGA to HDMI turned up a few possibilities but nothing specific. In any case the picture on the TV will not be very good given the source.
You should check to see if the TV has a VGA input. Some TV's have a computer connection port and this is usually VGA.

  • My samsung says video out from i pad is not supported. i am connecting with apple dock using hdmi. I do get the audio

my samsung says video out from i pad is not supported. i am connecting with apple dock using hdmi. I do get the audio  any suggestions?

    Jeffrey-
If the HDMI input to the Samsung is not compatible, does it have a VGA or composite input?  I have both the HDMI and VGA adapters for the iPad, which work with the small Vizio HDTV I tried.  I understand a composite video adapter is also available.

  • PB stuck in S-video out mode despite no s-video cable connected!

    Greetings,
Earlier today I attached a TV to my computer's s-video out to watch some video, afterwards I disconnected the cable and went to use my computer as I would ordinarily. Unfortunately now my Powerbook still shows a TV as being connected despite the fact that there is absolutely nothing connected to the s-video out port.
So far I've tried reseting the PRAM a couple of times, repairing permissions, and clearing the system cache (amongst other cache items). Nothing seems to work. When in the display control panel I still see a 'phantom tv' connected and still have the option of arranging the displays.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and been able to resolve it without resorting to a visit to Apple Repair?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks a_brody for trying to be helpful but in fact my primary display never was selected as the television, so it never needed changing back. All that is occurring is that my mouse (and occassionally windows that I'm moving around) will disappear into the 'phantom' secondary screen. Unless someone else might be able to suggest some other ideas about resolving this issue, I suspect that I'll have to pay a visit to an Apple authorized service center before my Apple-Care coverage expires this coming year.
    Happy Holidays!

  • Why my Ipad2 will not play rented video to a projector via vga adapter connection

Hi, i want to know why my ipad will not play rented video to a projector using the apple vga adapter connector.  This is just basic mirroring and there should be no problem isn't it?  Please help.
    Thank you

Technically, yes, it should be easy. However with rented videos you may be running into DRM (DIgital rights management) where you may not be allowed to play that video anywhere but on the iPad. The video could have a bit of programming in it that literally tells the HDMI or VGA output not to work.
One way to test the connection, with your ipad's camera, shoot a short video and try to mirror that. If it mirrors and the movie doesn't then it's likely that you're simply not allowed to mirror it. If it doesn't play then there may be something wrong hardware or setting wise.
