Satellite M100 - I can't analyse the CPU temperature

I'm an owner of Toshiba Satellite M100 series (Core Duo T2300, X1400, etc.). The problem is that I can't analyse the CPU temperature changes in such popular application like Everest or Notebook Hardware Control. Also any other software provided by Toshiba and already installed on my HDD doesn't include some CPU diagnostics including the temperature changes!
The only software which seems to be working is the HWiNFO32 so there is some thermal sensor inside which reads this temperature of Centrino Duo processor, but this software is not very user-friendly :(
There is a request for Toshiba to do something with this... I've upgraded BIOS in my model to a version 1.70 but it didn't change anything I could easily notice (or is there any?) :(

Hi
Like Mike said the BIOS update has nothing to do with the CPU temperature monitoring.
The fact is that Toshiba doesnt support any 3rd party applications.
However, all the temperature programs are not precise and dont get exactly information about the temperature. Only the programs with a physical temperature sensor will give you a exactly temperature.
I dont understand why its so important for you to know the temperature. The Toshiba notebooks support an overheating protection and if the temperature increases to the critical level so the unit shuts down automatically.

Those MB's and CPU's are new and we don't know a thing about them yet. So far we know about as much as you can find by searching the web or other peoples experience with them. We are all users here same as you and if you are the first here using them and asking questions then you already know more about it than anyone else on this forum.

  • Why the CPU temperature is so high?

My NB Model #MB466, the CPU temperature is 40-50C under normal running and the fan is 2000rpm (I use iStat). When the CPU usage is about 80%, the temperature goes up to 70 or 80C, I can feel it, especially the bottom area of the screen, and the fan goes up to 4000rpm.
    Is this normal?

My new Aluminum MacBook can get pretty hot when I play Spore or use an iTunes visualizer. The hottest I've seen (according to iStat Menus) is 194 degrees fahrenheit and 5637 rpm. I think they won't go too much farther. If something meets the system requirements, it should be fine.

  • How Far Off Is the CPU Temperature On A K9N6PGM2-V (MS-7309) Motherboard?

I have read on other sites that these boards have inaccurate cpu temperature readings in the bios. I am wondering how much these temperatures are off, if they even are. I have an AMD Athlon X2 4200+, Bios version 9.2. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for all replys,
Sometimes when I turn the computer on and go into the Bios the cpu temperature is already at about 115F. This isn't terrible or anything, but it seems a little hot for just starting the computer.
    115 Fahrenheit = 46,1111111 graden celsius
That's quite normal, nothing to worry about, BIOS temps are always a bit higher then idle temps.
Please use C as everybody uses that in the forum, thanks.

  • Satellite A350 - Can I upgrade the CPU to 2.4 or 2.6Ghz

Hey, i just purchased a A350 and i have a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz Processor but i want to upgrade to about 2.4-2.6ghz. These are my questions.
    1. Is it possible to do?
    2. Is it worth doing?
    3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
I have general knowledge about computers but im not a an expert. Any help would be muchly appreciated.
    Thank You.

    > 1. Is it possible to do?
Nothing is impossible but the question is if its advisable. In my opinion its not advisable. First of all the CPU upgrade will cancel your warranty. Secondly nobody would be able to say if the notebook would run stable after such upgrade and if the BIOS would support if correctly. There is a high risk of overheating because the stringer CPU creates more heat dissipation which would lead to a higher temperature
Last but not least you will not notice a big performance boost.
    >2. Is it worth doing?
In my opinion its not worth. Check the point 1.
    > 3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
Ive got a Satellite notebook equipped with CORE2 DUO T8100 (2.1GHZ) CPU and Ive got the same Intel Centrino sticker.
The Centrino sticker means that the CPU supports this technology but it does not mean that this is Centrino CPU.
For more details regarding Intel Centrino technology please check this Intel page:

  • Satellite 1900-303: Can I upgrade the Hard Drive up to 120GB

I've a S1900-303 and I'm thinking of upping the Hard Drive to 120gb. What problems, if any, will I encounter and can I do it froom the Toshiba boot disk or should I just install XP from a XP disk?

    Hi
As far as I can remember the Satellite 1900-303 was delivered with the 30GB HDD.
So in my opinion the 120GB HDD size is a little bit too big and I presume the notebook BIOS will not recognize this HDD!!!
    I think you can use a 40GB, 60GB and maybe a 80GB HDD.
PS: you should search for the HDD with the enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface!!!
Good luck and have a nice day

  • Can't get the CPU utilization above 52%

    Hi all,
I have an Intel i7 950 CPU based PC with Windows 10 TP on it which, no matter what, I cannot bring to 100% CPU utilization. While taking the attached screenshot, I was running prime95.exe.
I have tested the same scenario on the same computer running Windows 8/8.1 and got the same result. However, when doing the same thing under Windows 7, CPU utilization went up to 100%.
Anybody has any idea why this happens? Is it a different default setting somewhere (probably in registry)?
Since I have this fast machine I would like to be able to use it at its full strength - the way things are now, my old Quad core 2 GHz PC is MUCH faster than this 8 core 3 GHz one (as I measured in several tests consisting of transcoding videos).
    Thanks for any pointers!

    Hi VikTak-9b,
How did you get the CPU utilization information ?Are you getting the information from the task manager ?

I am a little confused here .According to my understanding ,the number is smaller the performance of the machine is higher when the other conditions are the same .

  • Satellite A300 - I can't find the recovery disk creator

    Hi everybody!
Need some help with my Satellite A300. I lost the optical recovery disc I burned when the laptop was new. Now when I'm trying to burn a new recovery disc I can't find the Recovery Disc Creator - not on the desktop or in the Start meny. I still have the folder with all the recovery files left - a folder named HDDRecovery with size 4.5 GB. The problem is to find out how to burn the disc.
    Can anyone help?
    //iMate, Sweden

    Hello
F8 will works just if you didnt change anything with first partition and if you still use factory settings.
"Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" cannot be gone for no reason. Either you have removed it from the system or you have installed own Vista OS.
I don't want to speculate why you cannot use F8 anymore but fact is that for new Vista installation you need recovery DVD.
You can order one under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Satellite P200D-134 - can not use the Toshiba DVD player

I have the Satellite P200D-134 and can not use the Toshiba DVD player.
    It displays an error message.
"Required modules missing for this application"
In Vista it worked everything fine.
Now I upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate and all Toshiba programs are gone.
And I can not use the Software HD DVD player or other Software from Toshiba.
    What should I do?
Does anyone have any advice? Is there any help?
Please write back in German or English.
    Thank you!
    Rob

    Hi
Did you install the VAP (value added package)?
    If not do that!!!
Furthermore I recommend installing the DVD Player Update Check Tool which can be found on the Toshiba European driver page.
With this tool, you can check your notebook, if your DVD-Player needs a Upgrade and if yes, it gives you the download link for the needed upgrade version.
By the way: If you cannot find the DVD Player for Win 7 in P200D section then you can download this from the P500 section!

  • Satellite T110-11U - Can't find the WLAN router

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite T110-11U. Have had it since Feb and loved it - happily used it wireless throughout the house. Then one day about a month ago unless I was in the same room as the wireless router, wireless doesn't work. I have 2 other laptops (and an iPhone) that still connect wirelessly throughout the house and the garden without problem.
As you can imagine, this was very strange. When I take it out in to the garden, my other laptops find all the wireless networks in the area, but my Toshiba finds none.
Suspecting it was a driver issue, I made sure the wireless drivers were up to date. With no joy there, I recovered the system to as it was when purchased (doing a full restore by interupting the booting up and letting the hard disk be wiped and reinstalled etc). Still the same problem. I've even changed the rooms the router is in, and the same problem - the Toshiba can't find the router unless the router is within a couple of metres of the laptop.
Before I lose the will to live, can someone suggest the cause of my problems, or is it time I admitted defeat and took it back to comet under warranty (where the will probably test it next to a wireless router and tell me all is fine!).
    Many thanks,
    Steve.

    >the Toshiba can't find the router unless the router is within a couple of metres of the laptop
Does this mean that the T110 can find the wlan but only if its placed near the router?
    Just other hint;
Go to BIOS and set it to default! Ensure hat Wlan is enabled and dont forget to save the changes.
You should also go to control panel -> device manager -> Wlan card properties -> Advanced tab.
Should check the Wlan settings like the Wlan encryption, Wlan channel, etc
Be sure you have enabled the WLan card on your notebook as well!

  • Re: Satellite A660-12P - can't find the right display driver for Win XP

Hey everyone, i need some help with this one:
I just made a dual boot Win7 (x64)/XP (x86) on my laptop, but i can't find the right display drivers for the video controller VGA compatible on XP.
Does someone know where i can find them?
    Many thanks,

Yes, you get this message because you cannot install the nVidia rivers only executing the exe file.
If you want to install such drivers then you have to do this in device manager.
You have to force the notebook to choose the driver
You can do this choosing the advanced installation procedure which helps you to point to the driver files!

  • How Can I Measure the CPU Power My Flash Movie Uses?

    Hi All,
I'm working on a complex job that is intended to play on low-end PCs so I'm looking at ways to reduce the processor load the movie needs to play. Obviously large screen size, high frame rate, intensive ActionScript, and complex graphics all add greatly to how much CPU power is needed to run a Flash movie, but is there a way of getting an accurate reading of the CPU power it is using? I am modifying a job that was running badly on low-spec PCs so now want to adjust it to run faster and smoother so would like to somehow be able to compare the modified job with the original. Any Idea how I could do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I tried your suggestion and I could not get it to work well. In
fact it worked better without the running average (which suprised me).
I also played with the number of data points but still could not get it
    to work well.
Do you have any other suggestions on how I could sort this problem out?
    I
have attached a screen shot of the signal. To recap, I'm trying to
measure the'y' position of the flat regions of the signal. The signal
does not have a constant level, so this 'y' position varies with time
    in a non-unform manner.
    I am currently differentiating
the signal and selecting the y position when the differential is equal
to zero (within a tolerance band).
    In the screenshot, the
signal has been zeroed using the method I have described above.
However, it occasionally has glitches which may be caused when the code
picks up a zero gradient at a peak or valley in the signal.
I therefore need some kind of algorithm that only measures the position of the flat regions.
    Many thanks
     John
