Satellite M300: bootmgr missing after Recovery has failed

I tried to reinstall Vista using Toshiba recovery disk... when i tried to do it took long time to copy files and then it asked for next disk.
Even after inserting 2 disk it still asks for insert next disk... I had no choice and i cancelled it...
When i booted again it said bootmgr missing
'CTRL+ALT+DELETE' to restart
I stuck up don't know what to do.
pls tell me sme suggestions

Hi
The error bootmgr missing appears because the Recovery procedure hasnt finished and the old bootmgr was destroyed.
It looks like your second DVD is not readable for no apparent reason.
Maybe you could try to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option.
Maybe the partition was not damage during the recovery procedure from DVD.
So press F8 after notebook was powered up. Choose first option called Repair my Computer. Choose last option Toshiba Recovery and try to recover the notebook from HDD.
If it doesnt work then you could boot from the original Vista DVD and could try to repair the boot manager.
In worst case you would have to reinstall the OS from the Microsoft Vista DVD or you will order a new Recovery DVD from Toshiba.
Good luck

  • Bootmgr missing after recovery discs

    Hello,
So I have recently had to factory reset my laptop which wiped everything clean including losing a restore point. I purchased the 3 recovery discs from HP 2 x Win 7 recovery media DVD's (Part 1 and 2) and the application and driver recovery DVD.
When going through the restore process the 2 recovery discs were absolutely fine whether the app and driver DVD was ejected after 5 seconds saying the computer didn't need it and it would be recovered from the hardrive. When I press finish and it restarts itself the screen goes black and comes up with a message saying "BOOTMGR MISSING CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart".
The order of the boot menu is the internal CD/DVD ROM first then the hardrive which I worked out in the BIOS menu.
Not sure what to do next especially as it doesn't want to accept the app and driver dvd. And have tested the HDD and Memory both passed no problem. I have tried removing the HDD and rehousing it then retesting it but made no difference to result.

    HI @Grantc42 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and information!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that when you tried to do a recovery from the disks supplied by HP after the first two it informed you that the remaining two were not required and would be recovered from the hard drive.  The boot order is set to optical drive first and hard drive second.  When you tried to boot to the hard drive you received the error ""BOOTMGR MISSING CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart.  You have tested the hard drive and memory and no issues were found
Try changing the boot order to hard drive first
Restore the defaults from the bios screen. This will allow it to scan for the attached hard ware.
If the issue remains, I would try a full recovery one more time and if the issue remains contact HP support for further assistance.

  • Recovery Has Failed

I just got from HP a new hard drive with recovery disks for my HP G62-225DX. I followed the instruction. But in the end I have the message "Recovery Has Failed" and three options "Save Log", "Details" and "Retry". I did "Retry" several times, but in the end I had again "Recovery Has Failed". What should I do?

  • Notebook shows BOOTMGR missing after running return system to factory condition

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment notebook Model #dv7 3163cl. First I need to say I am a beginner user. My problem started with a low battery issue. Then using recovery mgr. I first ran back up disks and then attempted system restore. During which it shut off. When I tried to restart it it originally said something about starting like new from factory. Then said unable to load windows program. I contacted hp and tech had me purchase a 1 year phone support plan. Then had me go th the recovery manager and select restore to factory image. During which it gave this message. Recovery Manager could not restore computer using the fzctory image. Please contact HP support. Error code 0xe0ef0003. He said that meant I need a new hard drive. Now when I turn it on it says BOOTMGR Missing. Use ctrl apt Del to start but that does not work. It does nothing. Could the tech be right? Is there a way I can check my disk first? Or another way to tell? It wasn't the original problem so I'm not confident in his determination. Should I be?

Immediately after powering on tap the Esc key. This should bring up a menu of which F2 is what you want to choose. Use Diagnostics to test your hard drive.

  • Faces thumbnails missing after recovery from time machine

I got a new harddisk in my iMac via Apple's harddisk replacement program. I recovered all my data via a Time Machine backup (from a Time Capsule). All seemed fine after recovery of backup. When firing up iPhoto after the recovery iPhoto asks for updating all the thumbnails (don't know why). After a while everything seems fine - all photos are available with thumbnails in the events view. However all Faces thumbnails are missing - all persons in the faces view are black boxes. I can see that all the faces tagging are intact - when clicking a person I can see all the tagged images as black boxes. When switching the little "Faces - Photos" control to "Photos" I can see the photos containing all the tagged persons all right. I seems like it's only the face thumbnails that are missing.
So far I have tried the following without succes:
Repaired the iPhoto database with iPhotos own tool (holding Command and Option down when starting iPhoto)
Updating the entire library from an earlier backup
Updated the faces database files from an earlier backup as explained in this post
I'm out of good ideas now - can anyone help?

Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Outlook 2007/2010 with Exchange 2010 missing tasks operation has failed only on PC not OWA

We have searched this topic to no success I'm baffled as to how to resolve this problem.
End user software: Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010,
Server side: MS Server 2012 R2 with MS Exchange 2010
Scenario: We have merged 2 forests together to a new forest. Months before hand had rolled out exchange 2010. A majority of users in
forest2 still are on Office 2007 where as users in
forest1 are nearly all on Office 2010.
Now so far we have 3 users (from Forest2) whom have reported 'missing tasks' with the message 'Operation has Failed' when attempting to view their tasks.
We have ran the outlook commands related to this type of issue that clear the reminders and resetting them with - No Success.
They have no issue when using OWA, or Outlook via mobile device. The issue only occurs on PC. We have tried profile rebuilds, fresh SOE, the issue appears to be resolved but the next time the user opens Outlook the problem comes back.
On the server we have ran all the integrity checks no corruption has been found in any way.

    Hi,
I recommend that you try the following method on client PC and then check the result:
    Click Start >> Click Run >> Type outlook.exe /resettodobar
    >> Click OK.
    Hope this helps!

  • Satellite A200 - WebCam issue - webcam drives has failed

    Hi,
I need some help regarding the integrated webcam of my Satellite A200.
Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam drives has failed and I have to restart the computer, but the problem persists.
I have downloaded an updated webcam driver, but nothing.
Can anyone give me an idea of what is going on?
    Thanks!

Ok - I've had the same problem:
"Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam driver has failed to load and I have to restart the computer"
Same when trying to update driver from Toshiba site, same when rolled back / uninstalled drivers, then re-installed default drivers. Nothing worked.
Sorry - but the solution that worked for me wasn't easy.
I had to disassemble the laptop to take a look - fix something else ( wireless on/off switch had broken / jammed in off position - lugs had snapped on back of the slider switch on the case, but no problems, I just left it in "on" position, as wireless can be switched off in software anyway). I decided as I'd got that far already, to pull the laptop completely apart and clean it out properly.
There's a shielded cable running from the webcam in the lid, though to a small white socket on the motherboard, accessible under the keyboard, next to the wireless board.
I was disconnecting various other cables etc, and came across this one disconnected, and couldn't remember disconnecting it myself. Hmmmm...
Anyway, I connected it back up on reassembly, it pushes in to the socket and seems seated, but needs an extra little push to "snap" securely in place.
My guess is that some of these haven't been seated properly ex-factory. They probably work just fine, until perhaps through repeated flex on the back of the keyboard when typing, or opening and closing the lid, the connector falls out of the socket.
Anyway - my webcam works again now. (using Vista SPII and all current updates, but in my case that's not relevant, as it was NOT a software or driver issue).
There's instructions (with pictures) for disassembling the A200 on the net - use google to find them. You don't need to pull it completely apart, just to the point where you can get the keyboard out, then you can access the connector.

  • Compaq Presario CQ57 - 205SO BOOTMGR Missing after using Recovery Discs

    Hi..
Try to do a recovery with the Recovery Discs From HP
When everything is complete and you do a reboot....BOOTMGR is missing
and you need to start over
    Self test is done OK
    Start up test OK
    Need some help her
    clueless

All HP systems came with a recovery partition on the HDD.  The only reason it shouldn't be present is if it was removed or if the HDD was replaced.  There might be something wrong with the disks themselves.  Have they worked previously or was this the first time they were being used?
You could also try using an official Windows 7 ISO using the product key found on the certificate of authenticity on the underside of the notebook.  Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit can be found here.  Make the DVD and proceed to install Windows using it.  You would boot from it in the same manner you did the recovery disks.  When it comes to activating Windows, you will need to use the phone activation method (it's automated) to use the OEM product key for that system.  See DavidPK's answer in this thread for more information.
Using this workaround will get Windows 7 installed.  Once that is done, you can install all of the drivers and desired software for your system from here.

  • Pravilion dv7 series hard drive replaced after recovery disc fail

I tried to use the recovery portion of my hard drive when my Pavilion dv7-4173 US laptop failed to operate.  After trying the recovery portion of the hard drive several times I got a error message saying the bootmgr was missing. I Tried using  the Recovery disks I had made at the store I purchased the computer before taking it home and they failed. They worked  up to 32% and then stopped.  I took the laptop and the Recovery discs (6 discs)  to another retail store's tech department. After several days I was told the Recovery Disc where no good/damaged. When I contacted the purchased store I was told  I needed to bring in the laptop and recovery discs. They replaced the hard drive, saying that was the problem, but did not partition it. They decided to up graded the OS system from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit., but did not try the Recovery Discs. Can I use the Recovery Disc they made me, if the are good, to restore the laptop back to factory fresh?  I know it will place Windows 7 Home OS system back on the computer, but I'd like all the programs back that came with computer. Will I be able to upgrade the OS to Professional? I have the Windows 7 Professional disc.  If my recovery disc will not work, can I use  the Recovery Disc, only 2 discs as opposed to 6, that I can purchase from HP and then upgrade to Professional?
    This question was solved.

Hello skip61.  I want to make sure I understand.  A shop replaced the hard drive for you and installed Windows 7 Profession 64-bit in the process.  They also replaced your bad recovery media with a new set of Windows 7 Profession recovery discs.  is this correct?
If you want the notebook to revert back to the factory defaults you will need a set of discs from HP directly.  This will properly partition the hard drive and set the notebook back up with Windows 7 Home and the software that came with the notebook.
You can upgrade your version of Windows 7 at any time you'd like.  This is a feature built into Windows itself.  So check out this Microsoft article on how to update.
To order a set of recovery discs from HP just give them a call.  The number is 1-800-474-6836 for the US/Canada.  If you're outside of this area check this site to get your region's contact information.
I hope this is helpful; have a great weekend!

  • Preloaded registration utility missing after recovery

    Hi!
I have a ThinkPad T42p laptop computer with Machine Type: 2373-HSG and Serial Number: 99K8TAZ.
When the computer was delivered to me brand new from the factory, there was a "Registration" icon on the desktop which opened a special electronic registration form, with blue background, allowing the owner to fill their particulars in the provided fields and register the computer either online or by sending a fax to one of the registration fax numbers provided according to the owner's country of residence.
In practice I never made use of this electronic registration utility and had my ThinkPad registered over the phone by calling the IBM Technical Support Centre in the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, a virus caused so severe a damage to my system that I had to use the Rescue and Recovery feature to have the preloaded operating system, reinstalled.
The problem now is that after the recovery process and the return to the factory default installation of its operating system and utilities, this "Registration" icon on the desktop and its associated electronic registration form utility has disappeared.
It is not available for download on the Lenovo website while in the C:\ibmtools\REGISTER folder on my hard disk which includes all the applications and utilities of the system as they were preloaded and delivered from the factory, I can see this "Registration" icon together with two subfolders and a few files but I do not know if and how I can reinstall this electronic registration utility so that I can have it running again as it did before the system recovery.
I know, you will answer to me that I do not need it and this may be indeed true but I have raised this question, first out of curiosity and second, and most important, for pure psychological reasons as I would feel both mentally as well as psychologically much better to have again my system restored EXACTLY to how it was when it came out of the factory without actually missing anything at all.
I would honestly appreciate a lot any help that could be offered to me about it.
    Best regards!

If you go to the Purchased section in the Mac App Store is Mavericks available for redownload?
It is for me but I also had  2009 Mac Mini that upgraded to Mavericks.

  • Satellite M70 - Black screen after recovery installation

So far what I have done is put in the Product Recovery DVD-ROM. Then when restarting my computer I was prompted to restore my computer to the factory defaults and said. After it went through that process it told me to remove the disc so I did. Now all it does is reach a black screen after the Toshiba screen that gives me the options to f2 for setup and f12 for options.
I do not know what to do now to make my laptop work again. Please help.

Satellite M70 is old notebook model and I would like to know do you use recovery disc for the first time. I had Satellite M70-159 long time ago and have installed recovery image many times.
Which installations mode you have used: standard mode or expert mode?
    Try to install it again.
As Xardas wrote try to obtain Microsoft installation disc and check if everything works well.

  • Satellite L450D-11G - Hangs after recovery installation

The recovery disk supplied does not work. After installing all the files, it goes into a loop from booting up with "Installing Windows for the first time, through "Please wait", to flashing up the home screen then logging off and rebooting.
Is there a fix for this?

I can really laugh when I read something like this.
Recovery procedure takes pretty long time with several restarts and it can take over one hour.
So don't worry about useless laptop.
Best thing you can do is to do something else until recovery installation will be finished.
Watch TV, read a book and let recovery procedure be done completely.

Hi friends, I made a mistake.
I wanted to setup SP2 for Vista but I lost my all files. I did not understand it has not do this :( Recovery program formatted my second HDD partition.
So I am waiting your advices:(
    thanks

    Hi
If you run the Toshiba recovery disk it formats the whole HDD and so your second HDD partition too. In my opinion its normal and before you run recovery you should always backup your files.
Anyway, as Akuma said you should with Google to find a Data Recovery tool. I use PC Inspector File Recovery and it works really well. Furthermore its freeware program.
