Satellite M40-129 and Win7 Drivers

Hi,
I just installed Win7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40-129. This was a really tough one... Windows refused to finish installation until I deleted pcmcia.sys in the windows system folder.
Now I have the problem that neither my pcmcia cardbus is working nor my SD-card reader. As soon as I ask Win7 to update PCMCIA driver, the computer doesnt start anymore till I again delete pcmcia.sys.
Now my question: I can live with having a not working pcmcia slot, but are there any drivers available for windows 7 and the SD-Cardbus?
Thanks a lot.
Technohead

Hello,
I have windows 7 in my satellite m40-285 (PEntiun M 1.86GHz, 2GB RAM, Ati X300) and it runs smoothly.
The problem with pcmcia.sys is the same with vista you can find in google how to rename it.
The most difficoult was to make the graphic card work well with AERO, I had to install the diver for a Dell and update throw windows.
Good luck!
I don't think the M40 series are too old if you have enough memory and a good CPU and GPU

  • Satellite M40-129: PCMCIA Card doesn't work with Linux

I have D-Link DWL-G650 with Atheros Chipset which is good supported under linux (madwifi). But if I boot Linux the card is not found. I tested the card with an Fujitsu Siemens Notebook and it worked out of the box!
Any idea why it doesn't work with my M40-129 ?

    Hi
Like you know Toshiba doesnt support the Linux and there are no Toshiba drivers for the Linux OS but I was able to find this useful Toshiba page about the notebook configuration with Linux:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/
You should check the OS machine compatibility and the other areas.
Im sure you will find many useful tips.

  • Satellite M40-129 BSOD and does not boot correctly

    Hi again.
I was working on my computer since my last question, but (almost) nothing changed.
    To the problem:
My Notebook is booting, but only on very rare occasions.
    What can happen:
    - the screen stays black (almost 50% the case)
    - The start screen (Toshiba- In touch with tomorrow) becomes visible and nothing happens then (40% )
    - the notebook boots "properly" (10%)
if the notebook boot properly there are 2 options:
1st: I try to start Windows: it crashes with a bluescreen with the nice ask for an BIOS update.
2nd: I start SuSe Linux: EVERYTHING WORKS!
I tried to update the BIOS the traditional way and although it's hard to get it booted it works till short before the end and the computer restarts.
I see no confirmation screen as Im used to.
From this I asume, that the boot-problem is BIOS related.
I read of a BIOS recovery method with a floppy disk, where you copy the BIOS.ROM to the disk and start the notebook with the disk.
My question is: Is it also possible with an CD (have no floppy drive), if yes: how to do this?
I wanted to give it to a service point of Toshiba, but if they cannot fix it, I still have to pay 50Euro. I would pay the money for getting my BIOS restored, but the service point seems to be just a "delivery-service" to the true service point and I would like to speak with a qualified person first :)

Hmm you said you have already received the traditional BIOS files from the ASP in your country. So maybe you should take a look into this Toshiba document:
[How do I update the BIOS on my Toshiba Notebook and where can I get the latest BIOS for my machine?|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS&FID=TRO0000000b07]

  • Satellite L850-1HR and Win7- unable to Install Display Driver

    Hello
I reinstalled my Toshiba Satellite L850 notebook with older Windows 7. I installed also all the drivers necessary. After I installed display driver in device manager under Display adapetrs I see message that adapter is not functioning properly because system is unable to load drivers.
On Win7 there is also SP1 installed. I cannot see why drivers are not loaded properly. Does anybody have any idea about what could be wrong ?
    Thanks, Mateja

    Hi
The Satellite L850-1HR is equipped with an ATI Radeon HD 7670M graphic chip
I assume the ATI driver is not installed properly.
On the Toshiba EU driver page especially in Satellite L850 PSKG8E download area I could not find the Win 7 AT driver.
But I checked drivers available for all L850 series and I found AMD display drivers.
You should do this too. Choose Satellite L850 series (in short model no choose All) in the driver download form and you will get all available drivers for Win 7 and Win 8
The AMD display drivers should be listed too.,.

  • Satellite U400-22n and Win7 - screen hangs after 5 min

Hi, This is my first post
Ive purchased a new U400 with Vista preinstalled, last week ; 2 days ago Ive upgraded to windows 7 32bit professional when I stared Installing it windows prompted me that it requires a full installation , so I done a normal full install, windows 7 installed normally .
Now my screen hangs after 5 min and windows gos black and reboots after 3-5 min, Ive downloaded all the drivers from the Toshiba site Ive used the auto detect, and installed the drivers one by one and tested if the reboot stops , Ive reinstalled windows now 4-5 time returned my copy to the shop and got a new copy of the windows DVD, its the same,
Please has some one any advice for me. As the shop Ive perched this from will not upgrade to windows 7 for me.

    hi Mather,
    any bluescreens visible?
    win7 32bit i guess...
you have to install all the drivers for win7 provided by toshiba in the right order!
first chipset and patchfiles if available...
i think a clean install will do the job!
make sure that the hdd is error free!
you can upgrade from vista 32bit to win7 32bit
but no chance to upgrade to a win7 64bit when a vista 32bit is installed...

  • Satellite M40-225 and Vista PCMCIA driver

I lost my original disks for my M40 so bought a copy of Vista to install on my computer, when I first installed it the computer would not start up so I looked on the internet and it seems there is a conflict with the PCMCIA drivers and Vista. I followed the advice on the forum and managed to get vista to load by deleting all the files relating to the PCMCIA drivers.
Vista now loads but I am unable to find update drivers to get the PCMCIA slot running. I use this port for my wireless internet has the internal one was very slow with my router. Ive tried downloading the drivers from Toshiba but there is no Vista ones. Ive reinstalled the originals but they still dont work although Vista now loads. Does anyone know of a solution to my problem?
    Thanks Steve

    Hi
First of all the M4 I dont understand why there is a conflict between the PCMCIA drivers and Vista!
The drivers are included in the Vista OS so how did you remove such drivers and how did you install the Vista on this notebook?
Furthermore the notebook supports the PC card slot and you can use the PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card 16(multi-function card) and PCMCIA 32bit cards. The BIOS controls this slot.
Maybe you have to update the BIOS before you will install the Vista on this unit!!!

  • Satellite C850-B635 and Win7 - card reader is not working

My notebook came with windows 8 and the card reader was working
but I installed windows 7 64-bit , downloaded all required drivers to my notebook , but the card reader is not working now .
I downloaded a driver called card reader controller but it didn't work as well
I don't know if there is a problem or there is a driver that I should install and I don't know .
please help me solving that problem .
In my windows device manager these devices isn't recognized :
    *PCI simple communications controller
    *SM Bus Controller
    *Unknown Device
I tried to search in my drivers download page in Toshiba website but couldn't find these
please help me making my card reader working again.
    Regards
    Message was edited by: domaking

To me the case is simple and the reason why the SD card reader does not work is that an compatible driver isnt installed.
My theory seems to be correct since the SM bus controller and PCI simple communications controller appear in the device manager and I guess one of these devices belongs to the SD card reader/controller.
I think you should simply install this Realtek Card Reader Controller which I found on the Toshiba EU driver page
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/carc-20130924161048.zip
Furthermore you should install all other Win 7 drivers as well as Toshiba tools available for Satellite C850 series.
Very important is the chipset driver, USB 3.0 driver (Win 7 needs this driver to control the USB 3.0 port), display driver. etc
Not very essential tools are Bulletin Board, Online Product information, Reeltime, etc such additional tools dont improved the notebook performance so its up to you if you want to use these software parts

  • Replaced HD in Satellite A505-S6005 and which drivers

do I download for media control buttons and wifi buttons?
    I just want those drivers.

Are you trying to recover out-of-box state to your new HDD?  Do you also mean applications not buttons? If your original computer came with those drivers then they should be installed to an original factory setup when you do a full recovery.  Note Jerry posted a warning about a new HDD with certain update problem may occur on this post.  http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Drivers-and-Utilities/About-HDD-Protection-feature-after-HDD-replacemen...

  • Satellite A200-1NF and Win7 - FN keys are not working

    Hello,
    I have installed Windows7 32bit on *Toshiba Satellite A200-1NF* (model +PSAE6E-055021FR+), but I have a problem with the combination of the Fn key with the key functions Esc, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9 and F12. No problem with F10 and F11. I read the A200 user's manual without any solution.
Note that I bought Satellite A200-1NF with Windows Vista 32 bit.
    Could you help me !

    There is no special instruction:
Using Win 7 the functions keys requires installation of Value Added Package and Flash Card Support Utility. Thats all.
Probably your problem is related to some registry problems. Cannot say for sure.
But you can play a little bit around with the mentioned software.
Uninstall both tools. Then install the display driver.
Clean registry using the CCLeaner. Then reboot several times. Install only VAP just to check the FN key functionality. If it will not be enough, install and Flash Card Support Utility
    good luck

  • Satellite M40 - 129 stops booting after Toshiba Screen

    Hi,
my M40 sometimes stops booting after the Toshiba Screen. It stops and all I can see is the flashing cursor. No Error-Message or something else and normal booting from HDD. Booting from CD (eg. Knoppix) works. This problem only occurs sometimes and isnt traceable for me.
    Best Regards
    Spoony

    Hi Spoony
Unfortunately on this way it is not easy to say why this happen. Every user has individual OS configuration and we dont know how your OS is configured.
Can you start OS in safe mode? If yes check a little bit what the problem can be. If there is nothing that you can do I recommend you to save all your data and preinstall unit using recovery media. If you do this I also recommend you to create two partitions.
Dont compare WXP and Linux booting procedure. Like you know Knoppix uses just RAM and not HDD for running.

  • Toshiba Media Controller is not working on Satellite P850-12Z and Win7

    Hi
I have a problem with the program Media Controller, not get it to work at all, I have a Sony Bravia with wifi, try to share music and video and always says "remote media library did not allow the connection".
How I can fix it, also say that when you try to play a file in the context menu "Play on" attempts to connect to the server but never connects.

+To stream your media, you need the following hardware and software:+
A wired or wireless private network.
Your PC needs to be connected via a broadband router.
Your devices must be on the same subnet as your computer.
The network location must be set to Home network.
Either another computer on your network or a device known as a Digital Media Renderer (DMR) must be present. DMR are hardware devices connected to your wired or wireless network that you can control using your computer.
+To open Media Controller to allow enabling / disabling (not recommended):+
    1. Click the Start menu.
    2. Enter "Controller" into the search field.
    3. Click "Media Controller" in the search results.
4. TOSHIBA Media Controller will open allowing you to setup sharing options.
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up file sharing.
    6. For more information about setting up devices on your network, refer to the online help for Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System:

  • No Win 8.1 drivers for Satellite L750-129

    Hey,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L750-129  PSK30E and due to the need to format the machine and some other conditions I have installed Windows 8.1 on my system.
Also I managed to install a chipset driver, nVidia video driver and some other drivers. But a problem appears when I try to find/install an audio driver. I have a Conexant system and on Windows 7 its drivers worked fine (those found on the Toshiba website). I did not seem to find ANY Windows 8/8.1 drivers for my laptop anyhow (Toshiba doesn't even bother making them?!) but some Win 7 ones still seemed to work except for the audio one.
So, long question short: how can I get my hands on a driver that would support my laptop's needs?

    Satellite L750-129 (PSK30E-00F008RU)
    Downloads here.
That model is not supported for Windows 8.

  • Satellite M40: What drivers do I need?

    Hello,
What drivers do I need for ethernet controller, Networkcontroller and PCI device.
I cant find them at this homepage.
    My computer is:
    Toshiba Satellite M40 (PSM40
    Windows XP.
    Thanks

    Hi
I assume you have installed your OS manually and know you try to install the Toshiba drivers. ;)
Did you check the Toshiba driver page?
If not so do it. There you will find all necessary drivers and the installation instruction.
You have to follow this guide line in this document and all drivers will work.
Ps: Ethernet controller, Network controller -> Install the Wlan driver and the Lan driver

  • Error and Warning after/before POST - Satellite M40X-129

    Hi there,
    I use a Satellite M40X-129, bought in 2005.
After reinstalling Windows and all the necessary drivers (after more than 3 years, that was the longest time i used a windows installation ;-)) this afternoon, i encounter the following situation when booting:
(... ram check and all the stuff....)
    System Configuration Data updated
    ERROR
0271: Check date and time settings
    WARNING
0251: System CMOS checksum bad - default configuration used
Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup
When i press F1 to resume, windows is booting just fine as i'm used to it.
I also can enter setup and have to update the Time setting.
    Two scenarios:
    a) Booting windows, shutting down, rebooting: error message happens again
    b) setting time, exit bios with saving the config, booting up, fine until reboot/shutdown is necessary
I tried to download bios update to v1.60, but the setup tool told me that this version is already in use and it will not progress.
What i'm wondering: why does this happen? I don't think the battery power is low, which was suggested to other users in other threads, because it happend right after i installed chipset drivers/utils and other drivers from the toshiba download page.
    What can i do?
    - Bios update? -> Where to find a new version? A tool (which i downloaded of a site associated to Phoenix Technologies) told me there is an update available for my Bios, but it wants me to join a $29,99/year membership
    - Exchange CMOS battery? -> how to disassemble m40x-129, any tutorials? Dont want to f*ck it up...
    any other advice?
    Thanks for your help.
    best regards

    Hi
    > Does anyone have the service manual for m40x? Dont want to disassemble it without one
Unfortunately, seems such manuals are not available for public usage nothing on the Toshiba page :( seems only the authorized service partner can access such manuals
I think an CMOS battery replacement is not really expensive and could be done very fast so I think you should contact the ASP in your country and should ask for further handling I mean that its a little bit risky to disassemble a notebook without any manual and knowing how to do that exactly
Furthermore you should know that you would need a compatible battery which can be ordered only from the ASP
Sorry that I cannot help you with an manual but I think its better and safer to ask an notebook technician for assistance
    Cheers buddy
