Satellite M45: High pitched noise through USB

I plugged in a USB Bluetooth device, when I disconnect it there is a high whistling, which stops when the harddisk is running. The only way to stop it constantly is to keep the bluetooth stick connected, which is annoying at times. Any suggestions? Thanks, Nick

Sorry, where do I find "Safely Remove Hardware"?
I was able to disable the driver for the bluetooth device, but then the noise would come back, the only way I can get rid of this enervating buzzing noise is to disable the appropriate USB Universal Host Controller, but then the mouse doesn't work anymore.
On a trip I can disable it and just use the touchpad, but to connect the mouse I have to reactivate the USB Controller and to connect the Bluetooth device to avoid the buzzing.
Maybe I can resolve the problem through removing the hardware like you mentioned, please describe where to find it.... Thank you!

  • Satellite U500 - High pitched noise

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite U500 and the system itself seems to be working perfectly well. About a month ago, my laptop began to make a noise, an unbearable constant high pitched noise. The only time that the noise stops is when the laptop is off and for a very brief period when windows starts up.
The noise seems to come from the speakers, but it continues whether I mute the speakers or not*.

    Hi
    > How to disconnect HDD to check what you suggest.
You can only remove it from the HDD bay the HDD bay is placed at the bottom of the unit and you have to remove the screw which secures the HDD bay cover.
Then you could remove the HDD carefully
But without HDD you are not able to boot into windows and as you already said you have discovered the issue. It seems to come from the speakers and its related to sound card.
Maybe you should update the sound card driver and BIOS

  • My iPod touch (3rd gen) isn't putting out sound other than static and high pitched noises through the tv hookup, the built in speakers, and headphones. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

Everything on my iPod touch (3rd gen) works just fine except the audio out put.

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue. Contact Apple or a third-party service center.

  • A215-7422 Audio Issue: High-pitched noise

About 2 weeks ago, the audio would suddenly stop.  After restarting the laptop, it would work fine again.  This morning, however, the audio completely died.  Restarting it only gave me a low frequency click upon start up.  Updating the drivers and the system only made the laptop give off a high-pitched noise through the speakers that persists through turning the volumn down/off and plugging in headphones, on top of which it continues not to play an audio.

A quick update if it helps: I went in a disabled "High Definition Audio Device" and the high pitched noise from the speakers stopped.  Not sure if that helps anyone.

  • Ipod touch 4 creates high pitch noise from cassette adapter

Did not have this issue with my ipod touch 2nd generation.
Have a Monster cassette adapter in my car (looks to be an earlier model than what is currently for sale at Apple website). ipod touch runs off of battery (not plugged into power source).
Creates a high pitch noise through the speakers. Not particularly loud, but annoying and very noticeable during quiet moments of music/podcasts
Volume of noise does not change with changing the volume on the car audio system.
Will start when the ipod touch starts playing. Will persist as long as the ipod is playing. Will not immediately stop when the music is paused. It will stop though after about 10-15 seconds.
Any ideas of what is causing this and why it did not happen with my previous ipod touch (2nd gen)?
    Using iOS 4.1

    Thanks for the suggestions/questions
If I plug the touch into my wife's car that uses a straight plug-in (no cassette adapter), I don't hear the noise. Unfortunately this is not an option on my car.
Have not tried plugging it into an actual home stereo but can give that a try.
If the engine is shut off, the noise is still present. Unaffected by the engine or RPM of it.
One other clarification - the noise is constant coming from the ipod. It does not vary based on the ipod volume. What this means is that if I turn up the ipod to full volume (and turn down the volume of the car stereo), the noise is less noticeable.
Of course the noise gets amplified with the rest of the music by the car stereo volume.
Will also try other suggestion and see what happens if I turn Airplane mode on.
    Thanks

  • Satellite S1800-921: USB - high pitch noise appears

    Hi,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite S1800-921 Notebook.
Everytime I plug a device in any of the USB ports this high pitch noise appears.
Then when I unplug a USB device the noise disappears.
The noise comes from the back of the laptop where the USB ports are. The noise is very annoying since it's high pitch.
I've disabled the Ali PCI to USB Host Controller device through Device Manager in Windows XP and that seems to stop the noise but then I can't use any USB devices.
Has anyone come across this problem before and does anyone know a solution?
Any information would be most appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Jimi,
    Thank you for your advice.
I am on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I'm up-to-date with all my Windows Update Downloads. So the update you recommended is already on my computer. Sorry but the noise is still here!
Thank you for trying though, I appreciate it.
Just to clarify about this "noise". It's high pitch in tone but not particularly loud. Again it only appears when I plug something into a USB Port.
Though when the printer is plugged in it's OK until I put the power switch on the printer and then the noise re-appears.
When the computer is processing something (like opening a MS Word Document or opening a website window) then the noise subsides. But when the computer is idle then the noise reappears again. This drives me nuts because the noise is not only very annoying but it comes on and off continously as I use my computer!
Also, when the noise appears and I'm dial-up onto the internet then there is this interference noise coming through the notebook's loudspeakers.
Anyone got any idea how I could rectify this problem?
    Many thanks,
    Andrew

  • High pitched noise when recording w/ M-Audio Producer USB Microphone

    hello,
I have an M-Audio Producer USB Microphone. Recording with GarageBand, nothing else connected, using an the Apple AC power cord (three pronged ground).
When I record with it plugged into the USB port closest to my FireWire port there is a constant high pitched noise.
When I record with it plugged into the USB port furthest from the FireWire port there is no noise at all (as it should be).
What's wrong with my USB port closest to the FireWire?

I am having major problems with iMovie (and iDVD) ever since I upgraded to OS.X.10.5.6. I had to scrap my last promo-video. I am now recreating it very gingerly saving as I go but I am now stuck again. I am getting the digital audio screeching under my video clips when I extract the audio and under insert titles and transitions. Does this describe your 'crickets'?
I have clean video and audio signal from my camcorder. Check your cam' playback to verify. After three attempts I do have clean material in iMovie but cannot proceed until I resolve this issue. I ruined my last video when I extracted the audio and ended up with a garbled rumble which I could not reverse.
I have another question elsewhere regarding burning to DVD but I now need to resolve this before I can get to test the recommendations in the reply.
I hope I have helped focus your symptoms. I also hope there is an answer out there for this issue.
    BTW, Canon ZR-60 Firewire

  • High pitch noise in CS4 and CS5.5

    Hello.
Firstly I want to say that yes I know people have asked this question before but as far as I can tell none of them have been solved. Some have somewhat useful answers but none of them truely solve the problem. This thread in particular probably has the most information about the problem I'm having http://forums.adobe.com/message/4298535#4298535
I recently tried Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS4 (trial version) to replace my Corel Video Studio X6 which tried to replace Windows Movie Maker. Video Studio and Movie Maker both crash whenever I imported large video files.
Anyway I'm getting a problem where the video files I import to Premiere Pro CS4 and CS5.5 have a high pitch noise in the video preview.
It's a high pitch noise almost like it's getting feedback from something. Also when someone is supposed to be talking there's a very low distortion, like the audio started playing in very slow motion but the high pitch noise is still present.
I'll put a link at the end with the video file that's giving me trouble.
The video and audio are in a single AVI file. The video format is H264 shot at 60fps and the audio should be Mpeg-1 L2, 48khz at 320kbps. I don't know if the video's audio is in 24bit or 16bit.
I've tried different settings for premiere. Trying 60fps and 30fps for the framerate for the project. Trying 44khz and 32khz and 96khz didn't fix it. Using the "Desktop" preset in CS4 and Custom for CS5.5.
My audio hardware is a Logitech G930. It's a wireless USB headset with microphone. My motherboard audio is Realtek HD Audio. Both are enabled but I only use the headset now and nothing is being sent to the Realtek audio chip (according to Windows' sound options). The headset plays audio at 16bit 48khz.
The video file plays fine in every media program I own that can play the h264 codec. With the exception of Movie Maker and Video Studio x6. Video Studio will preview the video and audio just fine but when I try and skip around the program hangs and crashes. Movie Maker just plain crashes when I try and import the video. Some of the programs that can play the video are VLC, Media Player 11, and Media Player Classic.
I'm not sure if Final Cut Pro has the same problem. I don't have a Mac so I can't test it.
Here's a sample video that works the way it should. I pulled a BIK file from a game and converted it to H264 in AVI. Not sure what it's audio format is.
    http://www.mediafire.com/watch/15fr85n78xfu94x/Opening_Cinematic_Placeholder.avi
Just click the download button at the top right.
Here's an afflicted file. Not the exact specific file I have been talking about, but it has the same codecs. This one is shorter in length and smaller in size. It still has the high pitch noise, but since there is no one talking in this you don't hear the weird low pitch distortions.

Just click the download button at the top right.
If there's anymore infor you need let me know.
    Thanks.

    >single AVI file. The video format is H264
H.264 will not work inside an AVI wrapper http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854115
-Insignia camera uses H.264 to either AVI... SOME to MOV wrapper
-so use the MOV wrapper if YOUR Insignia camera offers that option
-Says VLC will convert in reply #6 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1172956

As Jim said, not within the design specifications because it is non-standard video

  • X-fi Extreme Music - Mouse making high pitched noise when moved

? Whenever I move my mouse my headphones make a very high pitched noise. I moved my mouse to all usb ports and it still happens, cant change my IRQ in bios and vista has them all locked out from being changed. I also have my X-fi as far away as possible from my video card. I have no idea whats doing this but i need some help.
    Specs are as follows
    P5Q-PRO
    Q6600 @ 3.48GHZ
    4GB Mushkin @ 078
X-fi Extreme Music ***Lastest [email protected]

I've never had pictures of the mod, as it is it wouldn't show up vey well in a photograph, not to mention that every front panel board is different from one manufacturer to another. Mine came with my Gigabyte Aurora case, but Gigabyte probably didn't manufacture the circuit board itself.
I had the noise problem when I first tried out my new Bose headphones with it and knew I needed to fix it. The main issue is the metal mounting studs that attach the board to the case front cause a ground loop with the grounds coming in from the sound card, as well as the motherboard USB headers. Having all these grounds just connected together like that is the root of the problem. By far the worst issue is the studs being connected to the foils on the board. Scraping the foil off the board where it makes contact with the studs will probably fix most of the noise. Next, cutting a gap in the foils between the incoming grounds from the sound card and USB headers will clean up more noise. If properly done, and all plugs removed from their headers, there will be an OPEN connection between any one ground wire and another, as well as there will be an OPEN between the chassis (case) and any of the ground wires. The ground wires coming from the headers should show a good connection to their appropriate socket ground on the front panel, but again, an OPEN between each other.

  • Time Capsule Makes a High PItched Noise.

This morning I found that my Time Capsule has started making a high pitched noise. That is really annoying and concerning.
    any thoughts?

Same thing happened to me just now. Sounded like air escaping from balloon through a small hole.
I unplugged the TC and waited for a few minutes. Plugged it back in and it simply did it again.
I had a steady amber light come on, but after about 30 seconds, the TC would shut off.

  • X220 high pitched noise?

I just recently got my X220 and I'm very happy except for the fact that it is really noisy. I don't have an issue with the fan revving up and down or pulsing. Fan speed is at sub 2000 rpm. Still I have a high pitched noise coming from the top right corner of the laptop...or atleast from the right area. Is that the placement of the fan?

    @nicbex
Regarding to your question about WWAN card...
It seems you've tried supported cards as in other case your laptop should stop with error 1802 (of course, if drivers have been installed). So, perhaps you havn't installed card drivers and software correctly.
The first step for problem resolving is to look at the device manager and check are there any items with "!" or "?". Then look at all items in "device by connection" mode (sorry if I've translated it incorrectly from my language). Find PCI Bus - Generic USB Hub, look at your wwan card's item and open it. In depence of card model you should see some different items.
Also be assured you fit sim card correctly.
Next steps depend of your first results.

  • Since Yosemite upgrade, high pitch noise creating case vibration on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) (on watching the keynote online)

    Hi,
Great work on Yosemite, great new design as well.
Several problems since the Yosemite upgrade though :
        - When playing high pitch noise (watching the keynote for example), the speakers make the case around it vibrate. This was not happening under Mavericks and previous OSXs.
        - This page (post editing) does not allow the right click (works everywhere else as far as I'm aware).
        - when changing the volume, I have now the noise feedback when clicking on shift+volume up/down and no sound when clicking on volume up/down on my keyboard (was the inverse before).
        - The keyboard light was stuck in off, had to restart the computer.
More general problems (covering the last OSX since introduction of 10.9) :
        - lack of possibility of choosing for a 3x3 set of desktops as it was before (the new mission control only allow us to have a horizontal set of several desktops)
        - Notifications cannot be turned off automatically when being in full screen. (only options for auto turn off given are "display is sleeping" oO and when "mirroring on another display" -> meh, would have prefer when having an app in full screen)
    System :
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Memory: 8 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP53.00AC.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.48f2

Thanks for your lengthy reminder dude, I have a similar Mac with yours. I suspect its a software fault because it happens after I upgraded to Lion, 10.7.2.

  • On my iphone 4s I got a scratch on it,then about a month later there are verticle lines and a high pitch noise til it is done focusing. What's wrong with my phone?

    Hello
Okay so I have had my Iphone for almost an entire year and there's a problem. I have gotten a scratch a scratch about a month ago on the back camera. It's at the very bottom. I've gotten used to it so it doesn't bother me. Well ever since like a week ago my camera gets colorful lines that are verticle and go away when it's focused. Not to mention the high pitch noise while it focuses with the lines. I'm getting irritated with it. Mainly what's is wrong with my phone?! Also how much is the cost?

Since we can't examine your phone, we really have no idea what is wrong.  Why don't you make an appointment at your local Genius Bar and get the phone examined and what your options are moving forward.

  • Logic 7 audio playing high pitched noise

    Hi Discussion Group.
I am having some major difficulties with LP7.0.1 (downgraded frrom 7.2.2 and was working fine with 7.2.2) and the motu 828 mkII that just crept up on his system today.
An audible high pitched noise when playing logic after initially starting 10 seconds after first play. Also after stopping playback the high pitched sound lingers.
Logic complains of sync problems between audio and MIDI.
All music is heard fine with iTunes. there is no other audio software playing at the time of logic playback.
Nothing has changed on his system to create this. before today everything was working fine. We removed everything from the firewire bus and only the MOTU is present.
playing logic fine out the built-in audio just fine.
Changing the clock mode to autosync does not help and iTunes stops working. internal works fine. Also setting the I/O buffer size to 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512 and relaunching the driver each time did not help.
    no MIDI card
Here are screen shots of his MOTU control panel and Logic Audio Drivers preferences
    http://www.enabled.com/~noah/MOTU/
Any clues on what else to try? I am at a loss here.
    cheers,
    Noah

I've heard of weird things like this happening to 828's before.
There is a reset procedure, either in the manual or on the Motu website - try running that and seeing whether it fixes it.

  • EMac high pitched noise

Hi. I have a 1GHZ eMac G4 that I got second hand several months ago. Recently, I've noticed that there is a high pitch noise that it makes when I first turn it on or wake it from sleep. This noise only lasts for a minute or so, but it is very high in pitch. I don't think it is the hard drive because I know what a failing hard drive sounds like, but I can't be sure. Could it possibly be a capacitor problem? Does anyone know of this issue and how I could get it resolved? Thanks.
