Satellite M50-122 inserting Battery while running

A business partner of mine can run his notebook with out the battery inserted. But he also can, insert it back again while his Notebook is running.
So I wonder if my Toshiba Satellite M50-122 can do that too?!

Nothing special! The battery should be recognized in Power management tool and Battery control LED should switch ON and continue to charging if necessary.
When you open Power saver tool check on the top left side the power supply status without battery and also when battery will be inserted again.
I have tested it with my two notebooks. Important is permanent power supply connection. When connected to AC power supply you can remove and insert battery 100 times if you want.

  • Satellite M50-164 and Battery life

Battery power only lasts 1 hour tops. Is this normal, laptop only 2 years old.

Only 2 years!!! Sorry buddy but 2 years for mobile computer is long period of time. After 2 years battery can be defective, notebook can be full of dust and so on.
So, after 2 years is normal that battery hasnt so much poweras new one and 1 hour is OK time.
The question is what you do with it: watch DVD move, play a game or just write mails. As you know battery life depends on notebook usage.

  • Battery recall for Satellite M50

    Hey all,
I have a Satellite M50 laptop running Ubuntu 8.04 and this morning I got a message saying that my battery may have been the subject of a recall. I went to the site it pointed to and it stated that my laptop was on the list, however my battery pack was not.
It also said that the page I'd been referred to related to laptops sold in the States. This laptop was sold in Australia.
I'm just wondering if the battery I am using has been recalled as well and don't want to risk being charged $60 for being out of warranty. The battery number is PA3451U-1BAS.
    Thanks in advance

There are links to Battery programs on the Toshiba Australia site at www.isd.toshiba.com.au

Run the battery check tool to determine if your battery is affected. Then if it is affected, follow the instructions.

  • W510 checkered pixel patterns while running on battery [workaround]

Hey all, got my W510 in the mail yesterday and am quite pleased with it so far, but I have one issue that I've determined to be related to the power profiles.  When using any energy-saving power profile while running off battery power, when I have a flash website (e.g. Nvidia's homepage) open in IE or Chrome or if I move any window around the screen enough, some kind of strange pixel checkering occurs constantly when the screen has too much activity.  It's as if every other pixel gets shifted over by one making what looks like a checkerboard out of all the pixels on the screen.  I can still read the screen, but it makes my head spin.
If I choose the standard 'Max Performance' power profile, the issue doesn't manifest when running on the battery.  If I choose any of the others or create my own profile to mimic the Max Performance profile, I still get the checkers.  It still manifests if I go through and turn off all power-saving options or increase the brightness of the backlight.  If I start with the Max Performance profile and adjust it to my needs, the problem doesn't occur.  Something tells me that the performance profile has something subtly different than all the others and it's not a configurable setting.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Should I upgrade my Nvidia drivers from version 188.25, which came with the machine?  I've read that other people have had issues upgrading their Nvidia driver.  The way the system behaves, this seems like a power management issues more than an Nvidia driver issue.
Edit: I should also add that I don't have the issue while running on the AC adapter.  Also if I take a screenshot while the pixel shifting occurs, the screenshot is crisp and clear with no signs of the pixel problem.  This seems purely hardware/power management related.
Edit: see my later post on adjusting the power settings to work around this issue.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's reasonably likely that whatever issue you're seeing is linked to a setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel. So the best diagnostic you can do is, in high-performance mode (where the problem DOESN'T occur), write down the value of EVERY single setting that's available in that control panel.
Then, put the machine in a power mode in which the problem DOES occur. Then again go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and check every single available setting to see if anything has changed. There's a reasonable chance that you'll then find out what setting is causing the problem.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video probably ten times that. Taking a close-up shot of the screen while the problem is occuring, with either a still camera or preferably a video camera (or both), may help siginifcantly in diagnosing the problem. A simulated picture may differ in some subtle way from what's really happening, and those subtleties may be important. For instance, does the effect only break up vertical lines, and not horizontal lines? And does it only happen to content that is moving on the screen? And you're running your display at its native resolution, and not some larger or smaller resolution, right? Is the horizontal offset in the effect always just one pixel-width, or is it more than one pixel-width if you move things fast enough?
The simulated picture that you provide looks like it suffers from an artifact that appears WITHIN moving items that are displayed on an interlaced-scan display. The artifact goes away when the item ceases to move. But these aren't supposed to be interlaced displays. And I assume that you're talking about the built-in LCD in the W510, and not some external display, right? If somehow your display card is in interlaced display mode, then the problem probably won't appear in any screenshot the W510 takes of its own display. So at least that part of such a problem would agree with what you're describing.
So maybe the card is in an interlaced display mode when it's not supposed to be. Such a setting would normally be contained under some sort of "Video" menu in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    And from nVIDIA's website:
    http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2343&p_created=1231528...!!&p_li=&p_topview=1
"Graphics card temperatures typically range from 40°C to 90°C."
The only mention of interlacing that I see on their site for that graphics card is in the "Features" section of:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_880_m_us.html
    "PureVideo HD Technology
NVIDIA® PureVideo® technology is the combination of high-definition video processors and software that delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color, and precise image scaling for SD and HD video content. Features include, high-quality scaling, spatial temporal de-interlacing, inverse telecine, and high quality HD video playback from DVD."
Plus there are many references to interlace features in the "NVIDIA Accelerated Linux Graphics Driver README and Installation Guide" which covers your video card. And those features are also presumably present in the Windows driver as well:
    http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/195.36.08/README/README.txt
    One such reference is:
"While [it] is possible to apply de-interlacing algorithms to progressive streams using the techniques outlined in the VDPAU documentation, NVIDIA does not recommend doing so. One is likely to introduce more artifacts due to the inverse telecine process than are removed by detection of bad edits etc."
So maybe it's trying to do spatial temporal de-interlacing when it doesn't need to (I once wrote software to do spatial temporal de-interlacing for a thermal camera, and you don't want that to be turned on when it's not supposed to be turned on). It mentions the de-interlacing in connection with a video mixer feature. So that's another possibility.
Anyway, that should keep you busy, if you want to fix it. ;-)  Good luck!

  • While running on battery, MacBook Pro crashes after a few minutes of use.

While running on battery, my MacBook Pro crashes (shuts down) after a few minutes (less than 10) of use. Battery indicator still says I have enough power (more than 75%) so it can't be related to the other reported issues with low battery crashes.
While on power adaptor, I don't have any issues.
I checked battery condition as suggested in all the forum threads I can find and its fine.
    Running Lion 10.7.2

PRAM reset did not resolve the issue

  • MacBook Pro (Mid-2009) shuts down while running on battery

    Hi,
Five months ago, my MacBook Pro 15'' (2.53Ghz) started showing me the message 'Service Battery'. I took it to an Apple Store and I was told that everything is still fine. Nevertheless, for the past 2 months my laptop shuts down while running on battery (with 20% and 40% levels of charge) periodically. This does not happen every time.
Does anyone know if AppleCare covers this failure?
Is there any other way to fix this?
    Thank you,
    George

Mine does the same thing.  May i suggest downloading istat pro to look at the health of your battery.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
Also do you calibrate your battery?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
I had never done that but after 15 months and 450+ cycles I was experiencing the same problem.  I am a heavy user of my mbp 15"  (2.4Ghz).  After calibrating my health in istat which was going between 30-53 % Is holding steady around 65-mid 70% health wise.  I have also noticed that my battery icon has gone from service battery to replace now to holding at replace soon for the time being.
I am not sure how many cycles you can get out of one battery but as far as i know 700ish is good.  While i wish i was closer to an apple store (3ish hrs or more) i do hope i have helped you.

  • Satellite M50 suddenly not working

I wonder if anyone can help?
My Satellite M50 seems to be having a number of quite major problems:
On booting up, I get a very high pitched one note sound and rather than automatically go into Windows XP, I am given a choice of F2 (Set Up) or F12 (Menu I think it is called). If I hit the enter button the noise goes and go into Windows XP as normal.
However, I can get no sound on the Satellite - either from a CD or DVD being inserted or on a on-line video or
audio clip. I have checked Control Panel and audio is not muted.
Also, my 'e' character on the laptop does not register (press it and no character comes on screen-I have to attach a new keyboard to the laptop to use the letter 'e') BUT in either Excel or when I am putting in a URL, I often get a complete row after row of the character 'e' (without prompting) which only stops if I press the 'Esc' button.
I don't know if I have been infected with a virus (I have Avira AntiVir Personal) & Malaware programmes on the laptop, but I would be grateful for any help with this problem.
    Cheers!
    Bryan

    Hi
In my opinion its a keyboard issue.
The sound which appears at the beginning of the booting procedure means that a hardware issue has been detected.
In my opinion its related to the keyboard since you have no keyboard functionality running Windows OS.
Therefore I would suggest getting in contact with the ASP in your country and to order a new keyboard for replacement.
    Regarding the sound issue;
I'm not sure what this could be but in fact the first step should be a driver update or new installation.
Check if there are any yellow eclamation marks which reffers to the sound card!
    Cheers

  • Field not getting updated in BDC while running in background

    Hi Friends,
I'm executing a BDC transaction to update the Alternate Tax Classification (VBAK_TAXK1) field in Sales Order. I'm passing value 1 to the field and then saving it directly. While running the BDC in background, the field is not getting updated. On the other hand i checked it running in foreground, the field got updated without any error message.
Can anybody help me advicing why the field is not getting updated in background?
    Thanks,
    Bestin

    Hi ,
Check the the log if you are using a session method and if call transaction then capture the messages for the same,
Because in the foreground the BDC will update the records even if there is a warning message nut in background it will not update. So check the data which you are inserting and try avoid the warning messages also so that it can run smoothly in backfround.
    Thanks & Regards

You should be getting the same error while using the system directly.
The error indicates a validation failure. You should not see this when the profiles below are set to "NONE". It must be "ERROR" in your instance.
    "FND_VALIDATION_LEVEL" = "NONE"
    "FRAMEWORK_VALIDATION_LEVEL" = "NONE"
    "FND_FUNCTION_VALIDATION_LEVEL" = "NONE"
The recommendation is to have the value set to "ERROR". So in you case you will have to set the profile values to "LOG" and get details of the error to fix.

  • Error While running JSP-

while running JSP which is deployed in JAvaWebserver2.0 Trial version, it is giving this error
    javawebserver: Loading from CLASSPATH POLCATMA001_ItemMasterModule.properties

This is happening while inserting a record to any master-detail jsp. In some Jsps while displaying(viewRecord) itself it is giving this error. After this error comes we are not able to do any insert, update or even navigation is not coming properly. Some vague errors like Error Message:null is coming. Why is it so? anybody got any idea abt this? Sometimes The same Jsp is working fine.

Is your JSP functioning correctly when you run it from within JDeveloper, or are you experiencing the same problems there?
If you are having the same problems from your JSP within JDeveloper, try the same from the Application Module tester.
This will help determine where the source of the error is.

  • Error while running the page

    Hi,
i want to insert the data into the custom table. In custom table we have some fields like customer_name,item,item_desription..... .I have written a procedure for inserting the records into the tables. If i enter customer_name and item it should check in the custom table whether the combination is exising or not.If it is not existing then it should insert the records. For this I attched procedure in the entity object implementation. While running the page i am getting error like
Attribute status in Application ModuleAM.ViewObjectVO1 is required.
please tell me the solution for thisa and also tell me how to develop the page based on the requirement.

uncheck the Mandatory property for the fields for which you don't need "Not null" property..
And if you want to insert data into the table
then create a EO and mark the customer name as Unique.
then create a VO and include it in AM.
You don't have to write a procedure to insert records into table.
