Satellite M50 does not power up

Hi,
My Satellite M50 notebook does not power up. The laptop itself has been working fine, but I cannot use it as the battery has drained. I have checked the AC cable and this seems ok. Does the notebook have an internal fuse which I should check? If not, what should I do?
Thanks.

Hello
If I understand you well you cannot use notebook with AC power supply only. Am I right about this?
The switching between AC or battery power supply, do the boards power supply electronic and there is no some kind of switch that you can check.
When you connect your notebook to AC power supply is the power LED ON?

  • DVD drive light on Satellite M50 does not turning OFF, drive not reading CDs/DVDs

    Hello,
I have a Satellite M50-mx5 with a Mat****a DVD drive. When I insert CDs or DVDs, the drive starts up, spins the CD around (the light is blinking)...but a few seconds later, the drive stops spinning, but the DVD drive light remains on.
Windows also thinks that the DVD drive is empty.
I also tried to boot Windows from CD when the computer starts up, but with no success either.
Any ideas to what's wrong? Is my DVD drive broken?
    Thanks
    Eli

    Hi
Sorry to said it but in my opinion the drive is dead and only the replacement can helps to get the drive functionality back.
But be aware that not every drive is supported and can be used with the notebook!
Take a look into the user manual. Sometimes the compatible drives are listed.
And its useful to known that all parts can be ordered from the ASP in your country.
    have a nice weekend ;)

  • Satellite A100 does not power up

    Hello,
I had to replace the keyboard in my A100 but now after putting the laptop together I am unable to turn it on. When I press the power button nothing happens, no sound is heard. When plugged into AC the LED lights are on for AC (blue) and for the battery (orange).
Unplugged all LED lights are off. I tried removing the battery for a while, as someone suggested in these forums, but that didn't help. I suspect the power button has a loose contact somewhere. The cable that connects the power button to the motherboard is in its place so that shouldn't be the root cause. Is there another way to power it up? What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi there,
as you have said you have replaced your keyboard recently. This may be the fact your keyboard/power on button is not working.
Please check that you have in fact put the keyboard back properly. If the keyboard is still not the issue and the computer fails to power on, i would suggest taking your computer to an authorised Toshiba service location to avoid further damaging your laptop.
    I hope this helps

  • Satellite 1130 does not power up correctly

Recently my Toshiba Satellite 1130 Laptop is playing up...
It will not boot up fully and after many many attempts at rebooting finally got it to boot to xp only to have it shut itself down again.
Pressing and holing the powr on button for a few seconds starts up the laptop but how far it gets into the boot up sequence varies (only twice has it booted to Xp then shut down again)
I have tried with just Battery, Just AC, Ac & Battery.
The problem is recent and nothing has happened to the laptop to cause a problem ...
    Can anyone help?

    > Recently my Toshiba Satellite 1130 Laptop is playing up... It will not boot up fully and after many attempts at rebooting finally got it to boot to xp only to have it shut itself down again.
You mean the notebook shuts down automatically without any warnings?
Hmm the notebook is an oldie and your descriptions sounds like an overheating issue
In many cases the notebooks shut down because the internal temperature is too high.
The reasons could be different but mostly the ventilators and cooling grilles are clogged and dust prevents the fans from properly working.
I think that you could try to clean the ventilators using a compressed air spray.
You could buy such spray from different computer dealers
Then clean the ventilators and check if the issue would still persist.

  • Satellite Pro 440 CDT does not power up

Hi, I have an old 440 CDT which does not power up. Anyone any ideas???
AC is connected, power light is on, green. Battery is dead (as in buried). When I press the power button, the following happens:
    - On light is green
    - Num lock key (the one with the "A" on it) flashes 3 times: long-short-short
    - HDD light flashes on 1 time, green
    - CD light flashes on 1 time, orange
    - Popping sound in the speakers
Then it turns off again, with the power light burning green constantly.
Nothing happens on the display (tried FN F5). I also switched CD/floppy, attached both, with or without battery, no help.
    I am puzzled, please help!
    thx, Eric

    Hello Eric
Like you know, on this way it is not possible to give any precise diagnostic, just speculate what the problem can be. In my opinion it is definitely because of defective electronic on board but what exactly it is not easy to say. Try to contact someone who has experience with notebook repair procedure.

  • 8800 does not power on but shows the charging symbol! HELP!

    Hello everyone,
I have been searching for days now across the web for a solution to a very bugging situation. A'las i am close to giving up. someone please try and help. So here is the problem: I recently bought a 8800 rim (branded for cingular/AT&T but UNLOCKED) from ebay powerseller with 100% rep. it was advertised in MINt condition.
It arrived two days later and seemed in great physical condition.
So i plug in the charger and let it charge for more than 8 hours. I try turning it on but to no avail. During the charge the screen goes dimly on and shows a battery with an electric bolt going through (I assume that means charging..).
It initially seemed to me as a battery problem. So i took it to a local store and borrowed one of their batteries for 8800 and the phone started working fine also made a call with my temporary T-mobile sim inserted. (although their battery was also on low charge)---
So i come home and with a new OEM 8800 battery. plugged it in and charged for like 4 hours and the screen goes on with the charging symbol but does not power on.
I have repeatedly searched through the WWW and came across wide variety of dilemmas but none were any helpful. I also tried installing the latest OS...which also spectacularly failed [got an error that ...loading failed during the mult-load seesion...or something like that. I followed several very well written guides [advising that the manager and OS be installed on PC and etc.].
SO I MAKE A DESPERATE REQUEST FOR HELP FROM ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP. WHAT'S THE DIAGNOSIS WITH THIS BB. IT WAS ABLE TO WORK WITH THE BORROWED BATTERY FROM A LOCAL STORE..EVEN MADE A CALL AND EVERYTHING...BUT WITH THE BATTERY THAT CAME WITH THE eBay PURCHASE AND THE THE BRAND NEW THAT I BOUGHT....IT DOES NOT POWER ON.
BESIDES HOW LONG SHOULD I BE CHARGING IF IT IS NEW OR IF THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN IN USE FROM SOME TIME??
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.
    Please help ASAP.
    Mirza

How are you charging the BlackBerry? Do you have a wall charger or are you charging via USB cable from your PC? Its also possible that the charging circut in your BlackBerry is faulty. This would explain why a charged battery works while your uncharged battery is not.

  • I have had my iMac for 55 days now and twice I had to power off/on and then It does not power up correctly.  I verified my disk and found errors that could not be repaired.  I erased the drive and restored system back to the previous day.

I have had my iMac for 55 days now and twice I had to power off/on and then It does not power up correctly.  I verified my disk and found errors that could not be repaired (errors were associated with boot drive)  I erased the drive and restored system back to the previous day.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with it. Allen's already recommended an Apple repair station visit. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.

  • Screen/Computer does not Power Up when life the Display from being Closed

Sometimes (not always), when i come back to my MacBook Pro and open the display after it has been closed for a bit, the screen and computer does not power back up or anything. If you look at the screen there is a very FAINT image on the screen of whatever was open when the screen was closed, but you can't do anything, nothing is responsive, etc. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off, and then right before it turns off the screen will power up for one second and then shuts off. Any ideas?

I am having a similar issue when transitioning from my external display via the Mini Display to DVI adapter back to the internal LCD. The screen will go black, the machine will not sleep if I close the lid, and none of they key commands appear to work. The only response I can get is the caps lock key will turn off and on. When I restart the machine, I get no details on a Kernel Panic, or anything else, so wondering if it has something to do with the video drivers.

  • HT4061 HOW CAN I GET MY SERIAL NUMBER WHEN MY PHONE DOES NOT POWER ON

Since I have done the update for IOS 7.1 my iphone 5S does not power on anylonger or more exactly remains stucked on the apple logo until there is battery...
I am in europe right now and for 10 more days and I do not have phone anylonger.....
I have tried to reset, restore.... connect on Itunes....
Once the IPhone 5S is powering on by pressing both general button and the power switch more than 5 sec,
It says please connect this iphone to Itunes for being restored,
Once the procedure completed, extracted, loaded etc,
then the iphone is shutting down for restarting,
On itunes it says looking for iphone.... and you wait you wait you wait,
the iphone is stucked on the apple logo and ?
Nothing for then having a pop up saying "the iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4005)
Of course I cannot provide the serial # because my telephone DO NOT WORK !
    Nothing. so frustrating.
The connection is made with apple chords and connected to my last macbookair... nothing strange.

Not sure why you need the serial # if you phone is locked.
Plug it into iTunes, and you can get the serial #, and also unlock your phone.

  • Nomad Zen Xtra does not power

I have just recieved my Zen Xtra today. But when I power it on, per the manuals proper instruction, it does not power on. I have also tried to charge the battery with the mp3 player both on & off. When I had it on the "using AC outlet" icon would show. It does seem I need a new battery. But I fear something else, could the charging mechanism be dead? This player is a refurbished product by the way. It works on the AC outlet, I can transfer files to it, and I can successfully connect it to the USB port. the hard dri've sounds fine. It seems I need to buy a new battery right? Where else besides Creative.com can I buy one? Thanks.

    First, read/try the advice here
Failing that, I would suggest buying a replacement battery. Check froogle.com (that link is set to the best deals) for a good price.

  • T61p 14.1" Does not power up

My 14.1" T61p Type: 8891-CTO laptop does not power up.
After my last successful use, it was sitting idle for 2-3 days with battery & AC adapter connected. When I turned it on nothing came up, no battery charging light or display. I do not have mini/advanced dock.
So far I've tried the followings:
1.) Removed Battery & switched on with AC adapter (with & without circuit breaker)
2.) Removed AC adapter & switched on with Battery
3.) Removed HDD, RAM, DVD Drive one at a time & again used step 1 & 2 with no luck.
I bought it new in Dec'07 & still under warranty. I have never used Lenovo support before but from what I've read, their on-phone support sucks.
a.) Have you faced similar problem or know the solution?
b.) Does Lenovo have any local repair center in NJ or NC where I can physically carry the machine & get it fixed?
c.) What will be the fastest/sure-shot way of getting it fixed?
    Thank you!

Ok! It's fixed! I disconnected AC, removed the battery. Then, I took out / reinserted the MEMORY CARDS. As soon as I plugged in the AC, VIOLA!  Indicator lights were on.  I replaced the battery. I powered up the pc -- battery showed only 2% juice.  Moral of the story:  if you leave the pc in hibernate (prolly sleep mode too) for an extended period without plugging in, the battery will lose juice and the pc memory will remain in the previous mode, unable to register when AC is available.  Not ideal, but what I think that's what it is.  OR - someone else suggested that the PC needed a longer time to recharge after wasting all the battery juice -- and that I should've been more patient. But, the PC had been on the AC for 2 hours and no indicator lights were on, which made seemed to indicate that the PC was unable to register that it was attached to the AC power.  I needed to get some work done, so I was ready to try anything. When in doubt, take the mem cards out. And reset them.

  • Ipod does not power up unless plugged in

My ipod touch does not power up unless plugged in or connected to the computer.  It is fully charged and when I unplug from the power outlet or computer it will stay on for a minute and then turn off again.  It only shows the apple icon when I try to turn it on unplugged and then turns back off.

    Likey the battery is dead.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Power button lights up  for a few seconds but does not power up

    Hello
my computer froze up so i shut it down via the power button but now it does not power on when pressing the power button the button lights up but as soon I let go the light goes out and nothing happens not noise form the computer
    anybody can help.

    Hi, racb -
Try resetting the PMU - Article #HT1939 - Resetting CUDA/PMU
Also, it may be time to replace the internal battery. Those batteries have an expected life of about 4 to 5 years; leaving the machine disconnected from live power regularly or for an extended period can reduce that time a lot. You can get a replacement at places like RadioShack for about US$18, cheaper on-line.

  • [SOLVED (Arch is a great community)] Thinkpad x220 does not power off

My thinkpad x220 does not power off, it goes through the whole shutdown process as expected until reaching the last step where it displays "> POWER OFF" and just sits there until the battery is empty or I force the power off by using the power button.
I don't know what's wrong or where to start looking for clues.
The same happens when rebooting, it displays "> REBOOTING" and sits there.
Occasionally on reboot attempts I have additional messages from iwlwifi:
iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Queue 9 stuck for 10000 ms.
    iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Current read_ptr 28 write_ptr 29

iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Unable to initialize device

Not sure if this could be related but my thinkpad has the particularity of having a renice x3 mSATA SSD that I installed myself.

This is what you're looking for : https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33872
I've had this issue before, also on my X220. The solution was to remove the e1000e driver before shutdown. I've placed a command that does something like "rmmod e1000e" in a configuration file that runs it on shutdown, and it fixed the problem. I forget where this file is though... Hopefully someone else can fill the gap =]
