Satellite M55-s3315: Screen refresh rate is 60 Hertz?!

I have bought Toshiba m55-s3315 analog m50-s.... with intel 910 built-in, shared dynamic 128 mb memory; screen - 14.0" WXGA widescreen display with Toshiba TruBrite . Only refresh rate i get is 60 Hertz. I have updated intel chip software and toshiba also ... I would like to know is it possible to get more than 60 Hertz. The only way is to get 85 Hertz is to add extarnal monitor. I there oportinity to get at least 75 Hertz screen refresh rate ??? It was possible with my old HP Pavilion ze 5000.
May be someone could explain me??
Thank in advance!!!

Hi
I have noticed that on some Toshiba notebooks the screen refresh rate is fixed on 60 Hz. I have two of them. On Tecra M1 is fixed and on Satellite 1900 not. I have tested it and there is no difference if the refresh rate is changed.
The TFT technology is much better than on usual monitors where the display flickering is visible on lower refresh rate. On display you will not see any flickering. In my opinion there is no reason for panic.
Enjoy the life!!!

  • How to change screen refresh rate in windows 7sp1 and windows 8.1 iso image using dism

sir when i install windows 7sp1 and windows 8.1 then after the completion of setup when first time windows boots up then task bar is not shown and display is not clear and when i check under monitor settings the screen refresh rate is 60 Hertz and when i
set the screen refresh rate from 60 Hertz to 75 Hertz, then everything is OK, plz tell me why this happens?
why windows 7 sp1 and windows 8.1 automatically sets the screen refresh rate to 60Hertz instead of 75Hertz.
how can i set screen refresh rate 75 Hertz permanently in iso image using DISM ?

That is not a function of DISM. Resolution and refresh rate capabilities can be determined by multiple causes. Drivers are one, another is that most modern displays will report their capabilities to Windows.
You can specify display settings with an answer file however:
    <Display>
    <HorizontalResolution>640</HorizontalResolution>
    <VerticalResolution>480</VerticalResolution>
    <ColorDepth>16</ColorDepth>
    <RefreshRate>60</RefreshRate>
    </Display>

The display refresh rate is not important on the notebook screens.
TFT matrix doesn't have such thing as refresh rate. It doesn't blink.
TFT like all other LCD screens doesn't have refresh rate parameter, only reaction time.
    Your eyes are safe ;)
Ps: As far as I know the AGP port is not available.

  • MacBook Pro Screen Refresh Rate

I got one of the new santa rosa 15-inch macbook pros with a glossy display about 3 weeks ago. When i play games or look at display settings, i can't change the screen refresh rate. For example, in battlefield 1942, in the display settings i get a rate of "0"for my built in display! Not "60", or "75", just "0". Also, in the display preferences tab in system preferences, there in no refresh rate to set, but all other displays i connect have a refresh rate setting. How to i change the refresh rate of my built in display?

as far as i'm aware, LCD displays do not have a refresh rate per-se
the reason is because refresh rate is a term applied to Cathode Ray Tube monitors (read that as your standard computer monitor, not an LCD one) and in particular the refresh rate is how many times the gun in the monitor rasters a horizontal line onto the screen in one second.
with LCD displays, because they don't use a gun and are not based on CRT technology, they don't have a refresh rate
i could be wrong though, but i'm sure i read somewhere about this

  • Screen refresh rate

Please does anyone know the screen refresh rate of a Macbook Pro 2.4 GHx Intel Core 2 Duo (Is this is a 60 Hz monitor?). I am conducting a psychology experiment, and I really need this information, and I cannot find it in system profiler? thank you!

just another reason why this was the best investment i have ever made. i +++++ love mac and the "family" thereof! lol

  • What should my screen refresh rate be?

Hi guys, ive never really understood the refresh rate for screens. I have a geforce 4 ti4200, and my refresh rate is 60hertz, what should it be, or whats the best? Thanks sasarchiver

100 and more is the best for your eyes. 85 is the lower limit for "blindness".....  ; 60Hz is the lowest possible of your monitor and can harm your sight  when long-acting.
you have max. vertical and horizontal freq. of your monitor and a screen resolution (for example horizontal 1024x768 vertical)
so you will know the max vertical freq. by counting: (max horizontal freq of your monitor)/(vertical screen resolution)*(0,95)=max refresh rate
eg: you have max 110kHz of horizontal freq. and screen resolution of 1024x768
    so: (110000/768)*0,95=136Hz
this is the max refresh but the graphics cards sopports only 120Hz so you choose 120Hz in your graphics driver 120Hz for this resolution.

  • Boot Screen Refresh rate

    Hi all
I just installed a new Xserve on my network, and i'm having a problem with the refresh rate on the boot screen. No matter what I do, it wants to use 85hz, which I know the LCD cannot handle. There must be a way to force 60hz on the boot screen. I tried the instructions at:
    http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/TipsAndTricks#
    Messingwith_the_bootoptions
But it seems to ignore the @60 I put in.
When I use a regular screen, it comes up at 800x600 at 85hz.
    Thanks!

No one has any ideas on this? Still haven't been able to find a solution...

  • How to set screen refresh rate for linux console (runlevel 3)?

    Hi,
I have a CRT monitor, so the refresh rate is always needed to configure. I use 720x400 resolution in console, but the refresh rate is 70hz. Are there any ways to get it higher in console (with KMS or without)?

    thank you for replies
But setting the resolution, e.g. vga=773, would not change the refresh rate, or would it?
It would, but usually not to the maximum provided by the monitor. May be it is real to find the place, where it looks for available resolutions linked with refresh rates...
According to the Gentoo page I can use uvesafb for setting refresh rate as well as other settings. And then I found uvesafb page in ArchWiki. But the way to set proper refresh rate is not so easy as I expected, because I need to install uvesafb and it needs additional daemon. And also I think KMS can't work here. However it's better than nothing, if I don't find any other way, I will try this one.

  • Refresh rate HP 850 G1 (Intel 4400)

Hi all, I have a HP 850 G1 laptop and in general I'm very happy with it. In the past I only had a slight issue with screen flickering at lower brightness settings, but setting the refresh rate to 40p hz resolved that issue. After updating to Windows 10, however, it was no longer possible to set the refresh rate to 40p hz. Since I hoped reverting back to Windows 8 would solve it, I performed a factory reset. I am currently using Windows 8 again but it's still not possible to switch to 40p hz, not even through the Intel Custom Mode App.  The graphics report from the Intel graphics control panel confirms that the monitor supports the1920x1080x40p hz mode. Any help/suggestions to enable the 40p hz setting again is greatly appreciated!  Driver Version: 10.18.14.4251

  • Can't change Refresh Rate

To try to get my new Samsung LN-R268W monitor to show what's on the screen of my Power Book G4 (OS 10.4.5), the lady at Samsung Customer Support said I need to make sure my Refresh Rate is 60 hertz. System Preferences>Displays>Color LCD>Display had the Refresh Rate showing a greyed-out "n/a." Advice?

Is this before or after you've got the image on your
Samsung? If it's before you've connected it, or used
the F7 key to toggle to mirror/span mode, the only
display you'll see under System Preferences is the
built in display. And the refresh rate for that will
    be "n/a".
Most monitors will be auto-detected by OS X, and the
refresh rate will be set without any input. My 20"
widescreen Dell LCD automagically defaults to 60Hz.
At any rate, refresh rates for LCDs are kind of
meaningless - they don't actually refresh like old
    CRT monitors do.

You're right. Today I learned from talking to somebody that I should turn on my monitor before I turn on my laptop. Page 53 of the Apple manual "Getting Started With Your Powerbook G4" suggested the opposite. However, if I had read page 53 and its reference to page 97 more carefully, I would have checked the "mirroring" box.

  • Suggested Resolution & Refresh Rate for 19-inch Monitor

Just had to replace my old 17-inch Apple Graphite Display. I stayed with a CRT and found a new 19-inch Dell M993s for pretty cheap.
Now I'm trying to decide what the best screen resolution and refresh rate is...
The HTML files that came on the Dell CD-ROM give recommended optimal settings for Windows OS's. But I'm not sure I should go by those for Tiger.
    Any suggestions?

Just to make it completely clear
You need to have the screen refresh rate set above 75hz so that screen refresh is less visible, the lower the number the slower the refresh rate and therefore the more visible it is and the more strain on the eye. The higher the refresh rate the better.
Find the resolution which gives you 85hz or higher and which also makes best use of screen without making everything really small and hard to see or to read.
    I have a 19" Lacie and have it set to 1280 x 1024 85hz refresh rate.

  • Screen Refresh frequency on my Portege M300 stuck on 60Hz.

    Hi,
I can only set my Refresh frequency to 60Hz on my laptop screen.
Watching the screen for a long time at below 75hz can give me a headache.
I all ways set my screen refresh rate to above 75Hz keeping the resolution around 1024x768, prefer 85Hz-100Hz.
Apart from buying asprins or investing in a monitor can anyone help me set my screen refresh rate above 60Hz.
    regards
    John

    Hi,
I have just conducted a survey of Laptops around and surprise surprise. Other manufacturers notebooks can change refresh frequency to above 60Hz, at 1024x768.
I have done Monitor/TFT screen testing and it is recommended for that the higher the refresh frequency the better quality of presentation.
I think Toshiba should address this issue and allow people the ability to set the refresh rate to higher level, where technically possible, not the take or leave it attitude some people have.
So could someone from Toshiba address this issue as it will cost them customers?

  • Refresh Rate Setting

I have a LCD monitor that has some weird lines through it when the refresh rate i set to 59.9. When you change it to 75 everything is fine. I was wondering what you can do on a Mac Pro with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Xt video card in order to get the refresh rate to 75 hertz if all the system preferences will only let you select 59.9 hertz ?

    Try switchResX

  • IPad Air display refresh rate for full screen movies?

What exactly happens if I play a movie on the iPad full screen with a rate of e.g. 24p, 25p or 50i?
The stated maximal refresh rate is 60Hz.
Will this rate be reduced when playing movies?
Or will frames be dropped / interpolated if the frame rate and the refresh rate don't match?
Or will the movie be sped up / slowed down?
When using the HDMI adapter, I can see that it always outputs 60p, regardless of the movie frame rate. But maybe this is different on the internal panel.
    Thanks for any insight!

Should it happen again double tap the screen with three fingers. Then go to settings> general> accessibility> zoom> off.
