Satellite M70 - ConfigFree - error turn the WLAN switch on

I know I saw many items in Internet about this problem but, so far, no correct answers nor solutions.
In Satellite M70, even if the wifi switch on the front is "ON" and led lights, ConfigFree sounds and tells "error ..turn the switch on" and also is anable to find wifi devices all around.
I have the last drivers, the last version, I disabled wifi MS program control....nothing.!!!
Is not a big problem, wifi is operating but it seems a embarassing BUG for Toshiba....

I doubt its a Configfree bug.
The Configfree is preinstalled on my Toshi and its running great.
Here a short info how to use Configfree:

Note; such message will appear if you have not enabled the WLan correctly!
You have to switch the WLan switch to ON (LED should appears) and additionally you have to use the FN+F8 option in order to enable the WLan

I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

Satellite A660-18N - Solution for disabled WLAN switch

I have at last solved this annoying issue, my laptop is a Satellite A660-18N
Out of the box it just would not connect to wireless networking. With the Fn-F8 key combination reporting: "Wireless communitcation is disabled, please turn on the wireless communication switch"
Of course there is no such switch, just the FN-F8 Combination key press. Having tried various forums, and tech support, I solved the problem my self.
The solution is:
Go to the folder on your c drive "Program files\Toshiba\TBS. Then scroll down the list of program files and double click on the file named TBSWireless.exe and hey presto, the wireless communication will turn on (Amber Light will come on on the front bottom right panel of the computer). From now on the FN-F8 Key combination will turn it on and of.

Satellite A100-158 connects to the WLAN but not to the internet

I have a Satellite A100-158. It used to disconnect frequently from the wireless network in my house but now although the connection still registers on the Intel PROset/wireless program, and is stated as connected, I cannot access the internet anymore. I have no idea what the problem could be as the wireless signal is excellent.
At the moment I have plugged the Ethernet cable into the router to access the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I cannot provide the exactly solution to this WLan issue but I think you should check the whole settings on the WLan router.
First of all you should remove all security settings like the encryption key and MAC address filtering.
Then check the notebook settings. If you use a Wlan configuration tool like Intel ProSet utility the windows own configuration option should be disabled!!!
Furthermore go to the Wlan properties and check the TCP/IP protocol settings!!!
The IP address, subnet mask and the default geteway should be set to automatic

Satellite M70 - blue screen during the WinXP installation

I bought a new M70 with Win XP HOME installed on it!
but i want to install my Win XP PROFESSIONAL on the notebook.
So i put in the WinXPpro-CD and boot from CD/DVD-Drive.
The first blue screen with some information in the bottom grey line come, and every thing looks good, but the screen with the options on which drive i will install the windos-OS did NOT COME!
I only have a black screen and nothing happens!?
The WinXPpro-CD is ok i checked it on other PCs.

The OEM version of XP you use is simply incompatible with you chipset (SATA), so the installation hangs.
You need to find or create a copy of the XPP CD with OEM drivers for tou SATA chipset, but it's quite difficult to do.
Another solution is to use a floppy with the drivers for your chipset (you can include theses drivers by pressing F6 in the beginning of the setup (third party drivers)
The files for the floppy may be found in the website of the chipset provider

Satellite P300 - 1542 errors in the Vista registery - is health low?

Recently I have installed Uniblue Registry Booster.
When I run the program, it says after it is finished that there are:
1542 errors and that the registry healt is low.
Is it safe to use this program to fix the registry problems and to speed up the registry?
Does anyone tried this?

Uniblue software is not known to me and I never heard about this.
Personally I believe that isnt a serious tool and I would remove it.
For cleaning the registry I always use CCleaner. This is a serious tool and I use if for years and I have only good experience with it. You should try it too!!

Keeps lifting up on one side and is annoying me especially as its only a week old. Will Toshiba send me out a new one??

Usually if you want to order any parts, etc you have to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country.
Dont be mad at me but badge is not a really reason for contacting the service.
I dont know if you will be able to order such badge but you can try it.

Satellite M70: When is the next ATI notebook display driver being released?

I own a Toshiba Satellite M70 (PSM71) notebook with the ATI X700 gfx card installed. I am a developer and used to use the jMonkeyEngine with windows XP no problem. Since upgrading to Vista I receive an error when trying to run jME applications. The bug has been fixed in the latest ATI drivers, however I notice Toshiba's latest drivers are dated 30th March 2007.
When are the latest ATi drivers going to be available for Toshiba notebooks?

I dont know how often Toshiba releases the own drivers but I have noticed that many notebooks series supports the same hardware devices. So many notebooks are delivered with the same GPU.
Its always advisable to check the graphic drivers from another notebook series which were delivered with the same graphic card.
However, you should know that the Vista graphic drivers are very rare due to the new DirectX10. And to be honest the GPU driver from 30th March 2007 which was designed especially for the notebooks usage is not really old.
Please understand that notebooks GPU drivers are a little bit modified. Due to the strong GPU performance the temperature goes up. This could leads to some overheating problems. The notebooks GPU drivers control the graphic card performance and if necessary the driver decreases the performance to decrease the temperature.

I think you should ask this question an authorized service provider. I mean here its an user to user forum and nobody can check which mainboards fit in which notebooks.
The technicians can order all spare parts and so I think they should know if this mainboard also fit in Satellite M70.

Satellite A50 - BSOD - how to change Wlan card

Hi all, I have the same problem,
i have tried with several HDDs and the same thing, always BSOD before login in window, just once i could stay for some time in windows.
So i decided to install a win XP pro edition, a clean installation, not a recovery system, and it worked fine, i started to install all drivers from the support cd and when i arriver to wireless driver i got agais BSOD, so i tried to reboot switching off the wireless and it works perfect.
So, try to switch off your wireless card and tell here what happens.
Now, a friend of mine gave me his old satellite A50, because he got a new one, and his screen is broken, so i could try to change the wireless card,
Could someone help me how to get to end of the black and white wires that are in the board of the ipw2200??

I have solved my problem, i think so.
Just problem with driver.
I upgrade the driver version from the toshiba website with the WLAN switched off.
This is because i can login in windows and work perfectly with this. I dont know if your problem is exactly the same.
After i update the driver i switched on the WLAN and i haven't seen the BSOD again, at least in the last five minutes, lol.

Airport Extreme turn off WLAN through timer

I have an Airport Extreme and at the moment I unplug it every night, I am wondering if there is any software solution to turn the WLAN off through a timer.
I have found this thread dated 2005 but no answer (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6624783&#6624783)
I can't believe there is no solution. And if this is really the case, why the router does not come with a switch??

YouriS, Welcome to the discussion area!
The device is designed to be operated 24 hours a day/7 days a week continuously. Therefore there is no off switch nor is there any method for powering it off at a given time.
I have never encountered any wired or wireless router with either of these capabilities.

Using the hold switch is crashing my iPod

Okay, I just got the 8gig 4th gen iPod last week.
I stuck it into the iHome and listened it for a while, ignoring the message that said the ipod cannot charge from this device.
I pulled it out, and it went all fritz on me, starting to turn on on its own (on about 10 minute intervals), and I turned it off every time it did. Sometimes my keys didn't work, so I tried everything, including holding the menu and the center button.
After failing to reset, I slid the Hold switch to HOLD and back again, and this time it worked.
It worked on restarting my iPod, but now every time I turn the Hold switch off (not when I'm putting it on hold), the iPod restarts. How can I fix this?

Okay it seems like our iPod might be frozen so try holding the center and play buttons together for about 10 seconds. That would basically restart it. If you are able to turn it on again and you still don't have your stuff then it should be on the computer so just restore and sync it.
