Satellite P10: How to enable Intel 2200BG WiFi card

Hi
I have a Satellite psp10e which I have recently installed an Intel 2200BG WiFi card. After having problems getting it to switch on I have put tape on pin 13 on the card to switch the radio on.
I have installed all the latest drivers/ BIOS updates and spending hours searching the internet I am still yet to find a cure to get the hardware switch/fn+f8 and the WiFi led to work.
Is there something that anybody has figured out to make the hardware switch/led work? There must be a better cure than a piece of tape!!! It is it the BIOS that has anything to do with the hardware switch?

You cannot get it work with the switch because the Toshiba wireless cards have another pin to power off. And noone knows that pin. You could get one original toshiba from somewere and put it in and check out which pin is connected to the power switch.
Then you could change the pins on the new 2200b/g card. As the pins are very small and close together - it is nearly impossible to isolate them... But make your try ;)

    Hi hersi,
Yes, thats the important model number.
According the Toshiba website your model has Intel Core2Duo T6600 CPU. So I have checked the Intel page directly and T6600 CPU doesnt support Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x). You can check this yourself:
    http://ark.intel.com
Unfortunately there is no option to enable Virtualization :(

  • Intel 2200BG wifi nic and aironet 1131 LWAPP's

We recently had a nice sized installation of 1131 LWAPPS's (180) w/ WLC's and a WCS. The problem I'm having is out of the blue one day my Dell Latitude D400 w/ intell 2200BG internal wifi just disconnected and I wasn't able to reconnect. I've since formatted and rebuilt the system to ensure it's the latest n' greatest drivers (I'm running 9.0.4.13) from Dell. I checked Intel's site and they have 9.0.3.26 but nothing mentioned about the connection to LWAPP's problem. I can connect at home and other locations just fine. If I put in an external nic, I can connect to the 1131 LWAPP.
    Suggestions? Help?
    -Rob-

    Hi Rob,
My WLC current software version is 4.0.179.8. Please tell us the stability of 4.0.206.0.
I enabled only 802.11b and 802.11g in my LWAPP environment. The LAP model is LAP1242AG-C-K9. Antenna is AIR-ANT4941 (diversity).
I'm using L3 LWAPP transport mode; the two WLCs (within the same Mobility/RF group) are located at a centralized data center while the LAPs are located at a remote office building. WAN is MPLS L3 VPN. WLC redundancy mode is 1+1. All LAPs join to one controller; the other acts as hot standby.
Clients use Windows Zero Configuration (WZC). Encryption is WPA2/AES and user authentication is using Microsoft PEAP against a backend AD. ACS version 4.0.
Clients use Dell Latitude D610 with Intel PRO 2200BG chipset. Driver version is either 9.0.4.17 or the latest 9.0.4.26. They face frequent disconnections while users with 3945ABG chipset have more stable connections.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

  • Satellite P10-792: wireless LAN Intel 2100

    Hi!
I tried to install INTEL BG 2100 wireless mini-PCI card. Drivers work OK, but they say "Radio off". Nothing changes when I press [FN]+[F7]. Card is OK (tested in some Arima-made notebook).
How can I use the card?

I have a similar problen with my A30 Satallite. Driver installs OK and device works fine but keeps telling me to enable hardware switch. When you say enable switch do you mean somewhere in the system config because I have found that switching to on position does nothing, as iff switch is not connected.

  • Satellite C660 - how to enable and Use WAKE ON LAN?

    Hi All,
I previously posted asking about using Wake on Wireless LAN and was very helpfully advised that this was not possible, so I have started to explore the Wake ON LAN option.
I have a Toshiba C660 PSC0LE-00500JEN and have enabled Wake ON LAN on the BIOS, and have connected a LAN cable between my wireless router and the laptop, both of which recognise each other so the cable seems ok.
However, whether I use a WAKE ON LAN app on my android, or I use an online "wake on lan via browser" site, the laptop still remains asleep.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks
    James

    Hi
The Wake Up on Lan option would work if you would send an Magic Packet to the remote machine (notebook).
I have no experience using the Android app who knows if it function properly
Try other method. For example using an software like Wake on Lan for Windows Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Google for that to download this software.
Furthermore go to device manager -> LAN card -> Properties -> Advanced tab and check here if the WOL is enabled too

  • How to Enable Owner on SD card, or any storage media for that matter?

I bought micro SD cards (patriot brand from Fry's) and when i insert them into my card reader they mount to the desktop as "read only" with owners enabled "no"
What? How am i supposed to drag music files to it for use with my phone if it is "read only"
And since there are no "owners", disk utility wont even let me reformat or erase it.
this is really disturbing. I tried the SD card "lock" switch in both positions and it always mounts as "read only."
has anyone had this problem? or know how to overcome it? Maybe the cards are bad and i need to return them.
thanks for any replys to come

    duh,
    solved the problem.

  • Intel AC3160 wifi card is faulty.

this card is a piece of $$$$. I've read numerous threads about this card being very weak and slow. i get like 1 mbps with this card on wifi. sometimes the speed goes up. but not by much. my internet speed is 60 mbps. and this card just goes crazy. gets slow. sometimes completely disconnects or 0 bandwidth. i tried everything. default settings. i did a lot of troubleshooting, disabled bluetooth. it doesn't change anything.
would MSI replace it for me with a new card. not the same one? because there is no way this is a software issue. the card is just bad

have you tried disable bandwidth manage in killer network software? and even tried on another router? since WIFI will give you slow speed if etc your router uses old technology N connection but if your router has new N version it should give you up to atleast 50MB/s on wireless if it has 2.4GHz and 5Ghz band since 5GHz will give you more on N connection than 2.4GHz would.

  • [SOLVED] Intel 5300 wifi on new Arch64 install

I just bought a new Sager NP9262 laptop (but not really... it's huge, heavy, and sports a quad-core Q9650 processor), and put 64-bit Arch on it.  I've managed to get everything set up on it except for the wireless chip, an intel 4965.  I've downloaded the correct firmware (iwlwifi-4965-ucode) and the kernel module exists, but there seems to be a more basic problem.  hwdetect --show-net doesn't list the card at all, and lspci -k gives a rather unhelpful line saying
Network controller: Intel Corporation Device 4235
and lists no kernel modules which could work with the device.  Ideas?

  • SD card doesn't work after XP SP3 install on Satellite P10

I have a Satellite P10, which has a built in SD card reader. I got Windows XP SP3 from Microsoft update a few days ago, and suddenly the card reader couldn't see any SD card larger than 128MB. It was listed in device manager with a exclamation mark by it - and didn't show up as a removable drive in My Computer. Error message was "Device cannot start - Error Code 10"
I uninstalled SP3 , and it works again. I've tracked it down to this hotfix which is included in SP3:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934428/
If I install this on it's own I get the same symptoms, and uninstalling it cures it again.
So for the time being I can't install SP3. Does anybody know if it's possible to remove a single hotfix from a service pack?
    thanks
    Doug.

With a little help from MS support I've fixed this issue. In this hopes that it helps someone else, this is what I did.
    1. Uninstall SP3, and reboot into SP2.
    2. Copy the following files from c:\windows\system32\drivers to somewhere safe: sdbus.sys, sffdisk.sys, sffp_sd.sys. I put them on my desktop. They should all be version 6.0.4061.1
    3. Install SP3, and reboot.
    4. Shutdown, and restart using F8 to go into Safe Mode.
    5. Log in as Administrator (or another account with admin rights)
    6. In C:\windows\system32\drivers rename each of sdbus.sys, sffdisk.sys and sffp_sd.sys.to have a .old extension.
    7. Copy the files you saved in step 2 to c:\windows\systems32\drivers
    8. Shutdown and restart normally.
And that's it. Hope that helps.
    regards
    Doug.

  • How to enable the 3G card on the lenovo x300 647818M under VISTA?

    Hi
Anyone knows how to enable the 3G SIM card under the VISTA???
I insert the one 3G card into the backsideof laptop and install the driver. But  i never get any pop up for connect to internet via the 3G sim card.
    So, Please help.
    Cheers
    Alex
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need a SIM card AND a WWAN card. In brief, your SIM card authorizes you to connect to your wireless provider's network. The WWAN card contains the electronics which connect to your provider's network. Your X300 does not have a WWAN card. Some X300 configurations do.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!
