Satellite P100-105L: WLan connection issues

i have following problem.
have Satellite P100-105 notes, with XP home. All drivers up to date, connecting via WiFi.
When i connect to internet via IE7/IE6/Mozilla/Opera some times i have just message "waiting for reply from ....." in statusbar, and the page wont load.
If i refresh its ok, or at some pages it just dont work even if i refresh (typically on typo 3 saving document).
1. i have no viruses, no trojans.
2. tryed with IE without addons, allso with IE when i was in "safe mode" of XP.
3. Downloaded latest WIFI drivers, latest bios.
4. when i try it on other notes from toshiba, else model with win vista on IE7, it works normally. Allso when i upload/download huge files, its ok.
5. have legal, and up to date windows XP with SP2
so i can say 4 things:
1. its not caused by signal,
2. its browsing soft independant.
3. it may be not caused by HW error, if it would, large downloads/uploads will fail
4. any other software it is in memory in normal state, its not causing this.
SOMEBODY HELPPP
its very, very annoying.

>When i connect to internet via IE7/IE6/Mozilla/Opera some times i have just message "waiting for reply from ....." in statusbar, and the page wont load.
You said sometimes??? So I assume it does not happen every time while you are using the WLan.
>4. When i try it on other notes from Toshiba, else model with win vista on IE7, it works normally. Also when i upload/download huge files, its ok.
The both notebooks use the same WLan card? If not then there could be a compatibility issue between the router and WLan card
But generally its not easy to say what the problem could be. Did you check of the same message appears using the LAN cable?
Check this!

  • Satellite L450D-13U - WLan connections issues

    Hi,
I use talktalk as my internet provider.
I started to get a intermitent connection and the internet light on the router goes red.Its a d-link router.
3 weeks a vist from a bt tech they now tell me that the problem might be my laptop.
How could this be when it does connect and then drops the connection very iradic.

    Hi
You said that the router disconnects from internet. Right?
So how can be this notebook issue? Sorry but I dont understand this
In your case I would recommend checking the router settings.
You should check for the firmware update and should also check if other notebooks/computers connected to the same router would have the same problems.
If you are 100% sure that your router is OK, then you should check the notebooks WLan.
In such case its advisable to update WLan driver

  • Satellite U940 PSU6VA - Wireless connectivity issues

    _*My specifications:*_
*Model:* Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite U940 PSU6VA-00S002)
*Operating System:* Windows 8.1 x64 (upgraded from Windows 8 x64)
    *Wireless adapter:* Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2200
*Wireless adapter driver version:* 15.10.0.12 (which is the latest for my device)
I have had this Ultrabook since February 2013, and throughout that period I have always had wireless connectivity issues, even after performing a factory reset. My wireless icon fluctuates between three states:
    * Internet access
    * Limited (in which case I cannot connect to the internet or any device on the network)
    * Not connected - connections are available (and if I try to make it connect to the network, it will fail)
Sometimes my computer would instantly reach the "Internet access" state upon startup, and would remain in that state. Other times, it would be "Limited" for several minutes after starting up my computer before it finally connected, and even then the connection would drop out every now and then. At the worst, it would remain either "Limited" or "Not connected" indefinitely, no matter how many times I reset my wireless adapter or restarted my computer.
Until recently, I had always thought that these issues occurred randomly. However, I recently noticed that I always have a perfect connection whenever there are no other computers connected wirelessly to my home router, and I always experience issues of varying degrees when there is at least one other computer (or even a smartphone) connected wirelessly to the router. If there is another computer connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, this does not cause any problems; it is only wireless connections that interfere with my computer.
It is only this computer that has these problems; the other computers in my house never experience these issues, no matter how many computers are online. Also, my computer does not only experience these issues with my home router; it has the same issues on my university's wireless network.
My question is, how can I fix this? Is this a known bug, or is my wireless adapter defective? I know I can connect using an Ethernet cable where possible (I never have problems with Ethernet connections), but this is not always possible at university.

    > Intel page provides the Wlan driver for this WLan card and its v16.7.0 for Win 8.1
I just checked the page you linked to, but it recommends that laptop users obtain their drivers from their OEM rather than from Intel.
I had already checked for driver updates through both Toshiba Service Station and Device Manager (and checked both again just now). Toshiba Service Station tells me that there are no updates available, and Device Manager tells me that "the driver software for your device is up to date".
Should I update to Intel's latest driver anyway? If so, should I also install the Windows 8.1 version of "Intel PROSet/Wireless Wifi Software"?

I have found the WLAN channel setting in Device Manager and I will test it when I get the chance. But how do I change the WLAN standard?

  • Re: Satellite M50-216 - WLan connection keeps disconnecting

    Model M50-216
I can connect to my hub no problem, and as a comparison I have another Laptop (dell) that never eperiences the problems I get with the Equium. Here's what happens.
I connect no problem, then it may work fine for 5 mins or an hour, then it disconnects, I can still see the network and it will happliiy connect up again. I have tried at my friends house with a different router and the probelm remains, so its not a router problem.
From a configuration viewpoint, I have windows managing the network connection.... ANY IDEAS??

Did you try to update the WLan driver and the BIOS?
In many cases this is the key to solve such WLan dropping issues.

  • Satellite A100-003 WLAN connection timeout(with WPA-PSK)

I have a Satellite A100-003 notebook with preinstalled Windows Vista.
When I try connect to my router with WPA-PSK (TKIP) I have error:
Wireless authentication failed because of a timeout.
My notebook and router configurated correctly!! I installed new intel drivers for 3945ABG chip.
    WPA2-PSK and WEP work fine.

    Hi
The same happened on my old notebook.
I was not able to establish the WLan connection for longer than 1min with WPA encryption.
I have downloaded the newest Atheros driver and updated everything.
Everything works fine with WEP but not WPA.
Then I have disabled the Windows own configuration option and use the Atheros client utility. Now everything works fine!
I would recommend using the Intel Proset utility and check all possible settings!

  • Satellite L50-B916 - wireless connection issue

    Hello
I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50-B916 less than 6 months ago, and had to download all the drivers myself because for some reason, the OS didn't come with it.
Went to the TOSHIBA MEA website to download and install corresponding drivers.
    Downloaded the Atheros wireless driver.
The Internet connection always gets disconnected on my laptop ,but works just fine on other laptops and devices.
Not just one connection, all the ones I've tried connecting to.
Tried removing Atheros and re-installing it, it worked well for a few days ,but connection disrupting again.
What shall I do to fix this very annoying problem?

Hmm… does it happen using the notebook in battery mode or also while the AC adaptor is connected to the notebook?
It could be possible that the WiFi powers saving settings are enabled and therefore the Wlan connection interrupts.
    Go to:
Windows power options – choose the right power plant – advanced power options.
Here search for WLan card settings and set it to “best performance”
You should also set the settings for PCI express to “best performance”
Additionally go to device manager. Here choose Wlan card properties
Switch to the last tab called “Power Management” and ensure that the option available in this tab isn’t ticked!

  • Satellite P100: Can I connect two external monitor to VGA & DVI port at the same time?

The Satellite P100 comes with two external monitor port. A VGA and a DVI. Can you have have two external monitor working at the same time? Can you have two external monitor as well as your internal display working at the same time (for a total of 3 display at the same time?
Here is what I have confirm:
Internal display + DVI connector display
    OR
Internal display + VGA connector display
    Is it possible to have:
DVI connector display + VGA connector display?
    OR
DVI connector display + VGA connector display + Internal display?

As far as I know this is not possible and you can use either DVI or VGA port.
For signal output can be used only one port for external display.

  • WLAN connections issues

My N97 won't stay connected to the WLAN connection. Owned me when i was trying to download something and it switched to GPRS and took all my credit without me noticing.... Anyone can help?

Sorry to hear that! However you can organise your access points mate! Select "always ask" in your web options. In that way, your mobile will always ask you how you want to connect, even if you lose connection to your WIFI!

  • Satellite Pro M50: WLan connection loses IP address after 10min

I have just purchased a Satellite Pro M50.
I can connect to router using Congfigfree o.k., but after 10 minutes or so it loses ip-address etc.
Have to refresh the wireless connection to reconnect.
This continues every 10 min or so.

The Problem seems to be built in Atheros AR5005G Adapter constantly dropping the connection.
Using a PCMCIA card to connect to WLan solved the problem.
    updated
Found that changing the 'Power Save mode' from Normal to Off solves the problem with the
    Atheros AR5005G Adapter.

  • Wlan connectivity issue with E71

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my E71 to my NETGEAR wireless DG834GT router and there is this consistent problem of E71 successfully loading the first page but hang on the subsequent clicks. I tried to disable the security setting on my router and it works perfectly.
However when i try to enable back my security with WPA-PSK preshared key, the problem arises. I notice that during creation of access point in E71, when i enter my password for the preshared key, the display always show 4 asterisks despite the fact that i have a 9 character password. Is this a bug with nokia e71 ? How am i going to resolve this ? Any help is deeply appreciated as my main reason for getting a E71 is to surf in wlan with security enabled.
    thanks and regards
    Andrew

    It was basically this:
"In response to your email, I would suggest trying the following steps to connect to WLAN:
    1. Menu > Web > Options > Settings > General > Access Point > Always Ask
    2. Select one of the available Bookmarks or open a web page of your choice
    3. When the phone prompts you to connect to a server, select "Yes"
    4. The phone will populate a list of Available Access Points
    5. Scroll and look for Search for WLAN
    6. Select your WLAN provider
    6. Key in any passwords or pass-keys required to authorize you to access the WLAN network
In the event the above-mentioned steps do not resolve the issue, I would suggest switching off any security features of your WLAN router and testing your phone once again or you may also test your phone with a free WLAN network service which is usually available at cafes.
Please take note that you would be required to contact your Internet Service Provider on the details which needs to be keyed in while creating the WLAN access point.
However, in the event that your phone does not work with a free WLAN service or after you disable the security features of your WLAN router, please take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point. They will assess if a repair is required and advise if this may be covered under the warranty."
I had already explained to them that all works ok without any security. With network security, no go.
I politely sent this back and have asked them (again.....) to escalate, which they have said they will now do. Please contact Nokia Care with the same issue as the more people that tell them, the more they will take it seriously, hopefully.
They will need your IMEI, software version (type *#0000# from home screen), product code (beneath battery) and details of your router.
    Cheers.

  • Satellite P100-434: Wireless connection problem with Vista

Just purchased this laptop with Vista and so far have been unable to get the wireless to connect, I have 3 other computers and they will all connect, I have reset the router and set new accounts on all the other computers with no problem, but unable to do this on the P100.
Tried the new RADAR feature and this will not pick any networks up, but when trying to establish new connection it shows that a wireless network is available but is unnamed, although my network is named, I have taken the passkey off the network so that it is open but still will not connect into it, LAN via ethernet works fine.
Wireless switch is on, but when I slide it to off wireless switch status says ON

    Hi
I cannot give you an exactly answer why you cannot connect to you WLan with the Vista because there are so many options which must be checked.
But I think you will find the solution yourself with a little help from Microsoft website.
    Please check this site:

There you will find many useful tips, screenshots and the advice how to connect to WLan with Vista.
Please post again if you have found the key

  • N91 WLAN Connection Issue

Sorry if this has already been answered but I can't find the answer.
I've got an N91 and I'm trying to connect to my private Wireless Router. I've got a 128 bit WEP key but when I try to type it into the phone, I'm only allowed to enter 13 characters. The key is twice this length.
How am I to enter the full key?
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks in advance,
    P.

Well I use the N91 with WEP security using either Open or Shared key at 128 bit or 64 bit with no problems.
Remember that you need to use Tools->Settings->Connection and create a new access point.
    - In Data Bearer select WLAN
    - WLAN Network Name (ID) type in your WLAN hotspot name (SID)
    - Network status (Public or Hidden depending on your router settings)
    - Network mode (Must be Infrastructure)
    - Security Mode (Enter wither WEP or WPA) I only use WEP
    - Go into the Security Settings: Select the Key in use (#1 to #5 and it MUST be the same one as in your WLAN router)
    - Authentication type (Must be Open or Shared) Shared Key is more secure. This setting must match the one in your WLAN router!
    - Select WEP (or WPA) settings:
    - Select encryption type (64, 128 bits) again it must match your router settings
    - Select the type of Key in use (I use ASCII since it's easier for me to remember the keys) but it can be in HEX as well. Use the same thing as your router. Enter the key in the box below.
I've tested this in many WLAN networks in the office and at home and never had any problems. I've used all SW versions of N91 since the launch and it has always worked. If you have other questions let me know.
    One more thing.
When entering the WEP keys MAKE SURE that you enter the key in the right key number. Each WEP key ins in a different Tab (look below the connection name and you will see #1,#2,#3) use the joystick to select the right key (#2, #3, et c.) and enter the key (ASCII or HEX)
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Satellite C660-115 WLan connection only works when power cable is connected

    Hello,
I bought a satelite C660-115 a few weeks ago. I would like to surf the internet anywhere in my home without any wires/cables.
From the first day I had this problem: when I disconnect the _power_ cable, the wireless connection will stop working.
The webpage on my screen will still be there, but loading a new page is a problem.
Sometimes it helps to reload (pressing F5), sometimes not. It always helps to "repair the ip-adress", but not for long.
The only solution is to atach the power cable, regardless of how much power the battery still has.
When I do so,there is no problem whith the connection at all.
I went back to the shop where I bought it, they connected to their own wireless network and they had the same problem after a few minutes. In the shop too attaching the power cable solved the problem.
So the problem must be in my lap top, not in my network (modem or so).
Does this all sound familliar and if so, how can I fix it?
I hope my English is understandable, I live in Holland.
    Thanx in advance!

    Here the solution:

  • Satellite Pro L300 - WLAN connection has stopped working

FN+8 indicates that the wireless is on as the icon shows but suddenly tonight the connection has failed while I was browsing the internet and I can't get it back.
I have reset the modem - the laptop is currently connected by ethernet cable to the same modem with a good connection. The laptop is about 16 months old and is running Windows 7 Pro. I've updated all drivers tonight but even though it's "on" it isn't working.
Will dig out the wireless usb modem tomorrow but I'm wondering if the card has given up :(
    null

Yes it was listed. Oddly enough when I booted it the next day the wireless kicked in straight away. Go figure!
Talked to a friend who repairs puter's in the US and he's told me that if it happens again to reset the wireless card - preferably without the two wires disconnecting from the card. I'm used to doing hardware and software upgrades with towers - time to learn about laptops :)
Thanks for posting a reply xaver :)

    Hi Harald
Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have?
Do you use original OS version that you got with your notebook?
Maybe I didnt understand your problem description but I presume USB ports are not working on your Satellite notebook? Right? have you tested it with different USB devices?
When you open device manager can you see some unknown devices there or some hardware problems?
