Satellite P100-188: drive not always displaying CD title in explorer

I have a P100-188 and when I put a CD into the multidrive it does not always display the title of the CD. If it has displayed the title and you take the CD out it will still display the title of the CD for a while afterwards.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have been given the solution though the Microsoft Windows MCE General Discussion Forum. I downloaded and ran the Autoplay Repair Wizard from the Microsoft website and this cured the problem.

I'm tryin' to build some PDF outputs and I have the next problem: I have 20 reports to make it on PDF form (viewed with the Acrobat plugin from IE 5.5 or higher) and when I try to see what was builded the PDF it's not always displayed ( mean it's not readed by the plugin). I generate the PDF output from a servlet (which also set the servlet output context as 'application/pdf') and, if the output it's generated too fast (meanning the report information was too small), the Acrobat plugin doesn't catch him ! I think that I have to slow down the servlet response to allow the plugin complete loading, but I don't khow how to do this (and, ofcourse, if it's possible).
Please, I need a solution. !

just make in such a way that the extention is pdf..

I have added about 2000 cds to itunes without the song details. as i slowly update the song titles and genres etc in itunes, it does not always update the file in explorer. is there a solution to this? thanks.

Windows Explorer will display tag properties for mp3 & wma files, not aac (m4a) or wav. It is possible for mp3 files to contain multiple tags but only one will be displayed. Try inspecting the problem fils with a third party tag editor to see if you can tell what is going on. For mp3 files, provided all the details that you want the file to have are displayed in iTunes, you can try using the right-click option Convert ID3 Tag > None a few times followed by Convert ID3 Tag > ID3v2.3 which may well help.

GPU fan of Satellite P100-145 is not running!

Has there been a solution to this problem yet? It only started since I upgraded my bois to 3.80. The base gets so hot on the right hand side and it's even radiating heat through the top panel on which my wrist/hand rests.
Not to mention it will slowly by destroying the components inside. I was running a game earlier to test the fan and it just would not turn on once! It got so hot!! Atleast 100 deg/c!!
I am wanting to downgrade the bios but cant find it anywhere on toshibas sites. Can anyone please provide me with details on how to obtain an earlier bios? 2.40 would be great. Back to factory settings and more importantly the FAN RUNNING!

As far as I know many notebooks series supports only one cooling module, CPU cooling module.
I dont know any GPU temp monitoring software. I use the Everest home edition and this software monitors HDD and CPU temperature.
But listen buddy, the Toshiba graphic driver supports an overheating protection! If the GPU temperature rises to a higher step, the graphic driver will decrease the GPU performance and the temperature will go down. This is one reason why you should use the Toshiba graphic drivers ;)

FireFox home page does not always display correctly, hence I cannot do anything

Pages not always displaying properly

Hi. For some reason certain websites I use often as well as various others aren't always displayed properly (e.g. they often have the menu at the top/side and no main content). Sometimes refreshing the page a number of times or hitting back helps and other times I end up going off the site and going back to it later where there's about a 50/50 chance it will load fully.
I thought maybe it's because my Firefox browser needed updating, but after updating it I still have the same problem.
I cleared my browsing history/cookies/cache and it did nothing. Then I noticed under Options-Advanced-Network it mentioned the cache for offline storage, which I noticed was at 1GB (it seems to go up very quickly). I cleared it and the sites all loaded first time until I closed the browser window and re-opened it. Now no matter how many times I clear the cache, cookies or anything else it still refuses to display the pages properly.
On top of that I'm suddenly getting pop-ups for various sites (usually with a table of ebay or amazon items). They often appear when I click to type in a box on a site (e.g. in a search engine), but it happens randomly on any site and the window it opens always has a different address even if it is displaying a similar page. This too started when I still had the older version and is still continuing with the latest version. I have block-ups blocked.
A few weeks ago everything was fine and I haven't added any extra add-ons or done anything different in that time (as in surfing the web, editing browser settings or downloading new programs, or even editing existing ones). However, today I did update existing add-ons just to see if this was the problem. This has all started in the last week or so.
Any ideas as to what is causing these problems and how I can solve them?

Thanks. Them links just suggest to do what I've already done though. I've cleared the cookies and cache and history. I've disabled extensions, themes and plugins to see if that affects it. I completely uninstalled FireFox and everything to do with it. I've done full system scans for viruses, malware and spyware and found nothing and I've even used CCleaner to make sure it wasn't a file affecting it that shouldn't be there. I've then re-installed firefox and I still have the same problem.
I also noticed that when trying to load a page I get a small message in a box on the left hand side at the bottom of the browser that says "Read static.ak.fbcdn.net", but I've only noticed it on one site, not others that don't load properly.

USB Drives not always showing Finder

I currently have two USB Drives connected through a powered hub and they do not always show in the Finder window. Also when I pug in a USB memory stick it does the same thing.
I am new to Mac, I love it but this really bugs me. is there a setting somewhere, what is happening? If I disconnect then re-plug in the memory stick it shows up. What is really funny, that doing this also causes the missing USB drives to show up......

I tried that, but still no go with a thumbdrive. I can go to "Computer", and the USB drive shows up under that. All my other USB external HDs, my iDisk, and even FireWire drives show up on the left pane of the finder, just not the USB stick.
Any ideas?

Substituted Drive Not Always Visible in Windows Explorer

We have a 2008 server with terminal services enabled and the login script is used to subst I: to a folder on a local hard disk eg. SUBST I: D:\FOLDER
When the domain administrator is logged in via an RDP session they have an entry for I: shown in windows explorer. If a user logs in while the domain administrator is logged in they also see I: in explorer but if a user logs in when the administrator is not logged in they don't. Attempts to access I: from the command line are always successful and the substitution can be seen by typing SUBST at the command line.
Any idea what's going on?

I would suggest that in your case it is eather a bug or a coincidence with other applications or permission sets.
I have had the same setup in couple of environments and I have not had such a problem. The subst was
excetud from logon scripts and it worked.
I would suggest you to use Process Monitor from Sysinternals:

and run it when the users have the issue of not being able to access the I: drive.
Look for regestry and fily system access denied entier and you will come to the resolution.
I guess for someone else it would be difficult to reproduce this issue.

Mail does not (always) display sent messages w/attachments

A frustration: my Mail 8.2 (using iCloud and OS X 10.2.2) often does not display particular Sent messages -- this most often occurs when I have multiple attachments and have spent quite some time, often approaching half an hour, composing the message -- but sometimes it occurs when only a single attachment and a quick, 10 second, composition period. Recipients report receiving the emails and the attachments. The vast majority of Sent messages are properly displayed.
I have searched for the missing Sents by recipient, subject line and even text and .... they do not appear in any mailbox.
Wi-Fi connections are strong and not problematic. The issue is not particular to any one recipient. All software updates are current.
While it has been some time since I Repaired Permissions I am not detecting any other problems.
The frustration is "OMG where did that half-hour of work GO?" followed by a usually unnecessary follow-up email or call to the recipient.

Using iCloud, which is as you know IMAP. I noticed it does not occurr with pop mail servers. Thank you for looking into this.

When I close the lid on my P100-347 and it is programmed to hibernate, it doesnt but gives me "not enough ressourses to perform the API? very irritating

Mnemonics not always displayed

Hi ,
I am facing a strange problem. I have a GUI built using Swing (JDK 1.4)
and has Menus,Buttons etc which has mnemonics set to them. I have used
setMnemonic()/setDisplayedMnemonic() for displaying the mnemonics to the controls. But I dont get to see them at all the times. Sometimes they show up and sometimes they do not.
Can anyone help me out please ?

Ahh yes, this appears to be a known problem when running the JDK 1.4 under W2K. For Windows there is a specific setting which must be disabled to display mnemonics.
Until a fix is released, go into the system control panel and for the 'Display' properties, select the 'Effects' tab. Make sure that the "Hide keyboard navigation indicators until I use the Alt key" option is unchecked. That should take care of the problem.

Satellite 2060CDS: CD drive not found under Win98 - controller problems?

Dear all,
at the moment I'm on holiday at the baltic/Germany. There my TOSHIBA Satellite 2060 CDS had a Windows 98 crash and so I had to install OS new with recovery cd. After that I don't found CD-ROM drive any longer in Windows. Having a look into System and Hardware Manager there seems to be trouble with TOSHIBA primary IDE controller and TOSHIBA secondary IDE controller because there is a "!" infront of them.
I tried to reinstall OS approx. six times but unfortunately without success.
Please help me!

Unfortunately I have just Modem-connection (56k) and so I would like to say that it would be to hard to download Windows 98 service packs... :-(
Well, TOHSIBA Service Support answered me that it may be a hardware problem, so maybe the controller on the mainboard is demaged. I say thank you for this fast reply, but I'm suprised that I can copy data from CD-ROM to HDD in MS-DOS-Modus (starting with Windows start disk and CD-ROM-support).
So I still have hope that there is a software solution...
If you have any detailed hints or data for me - please let me know!!!

2nd G5 drive not always recognized

I have a G5 with two internal SATA drives. It worked flawlessly, until I had the mother board replaced. Now, about 1/3 of the time, the second drive is not recognized. This is fixed by re-booting, but I would like to avoid that problem.
Any ideas?
Using Smart Reporter, both disks are verified. My boot disk is now located in the upper bay and the other drive in the lower "B" bay (don't know where they were before the repair).

Doesn't seem to be, although intermittent problems are hard to solve.
I switched bays and it has not happened again in, oh, about 15 boots. Maybe a plug was not seated properly.

Satellite P100-387: VT not available & USB flash booting issue

I bought this notebook but, I am very dissatisfied with following functions:
Processor supports VT (virtualization technology) but in bios isn't option for enable or disable and tools like securable (grc.com) or others show that this option is disabled.
I check bios version. My is last but i try to find out any information on bios vendor web and there is tool for bios check.
With this I discover that my bios isn't last and I need pay 38$ for access (3months) to new version.
I cannot boot from flash disks.
I am thinking about netbook and on first time I thing about toshiba nb 100.
But now I am not sure that it is good idea.
Do you know how to solve this problems?

I dont know why the 3rd parties tools provide other results but why should I believe to some 3rd party tools which are not tested with this notebook??
You are right;
its strange that two applications provide this result but in my opinion it could be possible that the software cannot read and scan the BIOS settings properly
Finally, Toshiba said that this VT option is enabled and some 3rd party tools said that its not enabled
In my opinion I would believe to Toshiba
PS: if you have an older BIOS then you should udpate it firstly!!!
