Satellite P100-203 need very long to start up

I bought my Satellite P100-203 computer in october 2006, since day 1 it takes a long time that the computer is ready with starting up. WXP MCE is installed. I think that a computer with Intell T2500 dual core 2.0 GHZ/1024MB should be ready in a minute...
Anyone an idea what the problem can be?

Hello fred,
Believe me, the notebook with dual core 2.0 GHz CPU will not boot faster as a notebook with a Pentium4 2.0 GHz.
The question is. What and how many applications will load at the start up?
Many applications make the boot procedure slow and longer. I think you use the Anti virus software. If you will disable the starting of such applications at the beginning the notebook should boot up much faster

• Satellite Pro L630 need very long to boot up

Takes forever to boot up, cleared start up menu, no change,
Seem to coincide with display monitor addition. Using Toshiba Dynadock

It would be really interesting to know if the same happen without Dynadock.
Do you use original Toshiba preinstalled operating system?
Which antivirus application do you use?
After OS start maybe preinstalled antivirus application search for updates. Microsoft updates can also be active in he background. This can slow down preinstalled OS and maybe several minutes you cannot start to use preinstalled applications.

• Satellite P100-347: Blue screen appears on start up - unable to boot volume

Recently I left my 2 younger brothers playing NFS Carbon on my satellite P100-347, preinstalled with media centre 2005 edition, and now it fails to startup.
During the startup process eventually a blue screen is displayed for about a second and then it shutsdown (I manged to make out the words "unable to boot volume" from the blue screen).
I tried booting with an XP media centre DVD but it only gives me an option of reinstalling the OS with a price of losing all my very important data. Normally I would have recovered the system but I don't want to lose my data.
Is there anything i can do other than taking it to a technician?

Hi
Well, mostly the BSOD appears due to a hardware problem or serious software issue.
In your case the software problem is possible
Unfortunately, I think the new OS installation is the best way to get the notebook running correctly.
Now you want to know how to save the data and files well, I think you should remove the HDD from notebook and should try to connect the 2.5 HDD via external USB controller to another computer. Then you could save the files on the other HDD
I think, now you know that the regular backups are important and necessary!!!!

• Satellite 2100 CDT: Windows needs very long to boot up

Satellite 2100 CDT. Gradually the time of Windows loading increasing. Now it reach about five minutes! I didn't install new programms, chesk for viruses. Could anybody help?

Hi
From time to time its advisable to install the Windows OS again.
The fact is that after a longer usage of the Windows the registry will be polluted.
Simply said, the registry entries are corrupt.
Well, this happens because of the installation and reinstallation of software, etc
The other possibility could be a corrupted HDD. Maybe some damage sectors.
In this case a usage of HDD regenerator could increases the HDD performance and makes the booting time shorter.
Also a virus or malware, connected 3rd hardware devices or enabled WLan could has a bad influence on the notebook booting

• "Preview.app" will need very long to startup...

Hi!
At home i have a G4 Dual 800 Mac with OS X 10.4.8.
The app "preview" needs there about 0,5sec to startup. Thats very good.
Now at my company i have a G5 Dual 2,3Ghz machine, also with OS X 10.4.8 and the app "preview" needs on every start about 4 sec. to start!
So whats the problem?
I deleted the preference file, but the problem is still going on.
What can i do, that "preview.app" starts up inner 1 sec.???

There are no Errors in the console.log.
I watch it while i opend "preview.app"
It seems to be all OK.
No i do not open a pic, i just click on the icon in the dock to open "preview"
It needs about 3 seconds to open. :-((
I do not understand this problem. What can be wrong?
The System seems to be OK, i had repair the permissons. So it´s all OK, i don´t have other troubles with my system.

• OBIEE Admin Tool (11g) takes very long to start up

I am running on Windows 8.1, on a new, fairly powerful desktop machine, and launching the BI Admin Tool takes much longer than (I feel) it should. I haven't timed it but it's in the ballpark of 15-30 minutes. I double-click the shortcut and immediately I see a black console window with the title "BI Administration", but it takes such a long period of time to eventually open a GUI window. I can observe via Task Manager that the CPU appears to be utilized constantly during this startup time. Could I have something configured incorrectly? Any advice on solving this problem would be much appreciated.

Hi,
If you look at the certification matrix for OBIEE you will see the Admin Tool is currently not officially supported on Windows 8.1, for now it's only up to Windows 7 (and starting from Windows XP if not wrong).
Making it work on Windows 8.1 is a workaround (I remind I read it require the 32bit version even on a 64bit OS) so you can't complain if it's taking long or not working at all.
For a perfectly working Admin Tool stay on supported environment => use a virtual machine.

• I have reset my iphone 5 but the phone hangup on the apple icon, and its taking very long to start up, what do i do?

the screen is all black and in the middle there is the white signal going clockwise.. its taking too long!! can anyone help? is it normal? this is my first time using the iphone..

Hello there Pink_desire,
It sounds like your phone is unresponsive during the startup process, even after you reset the phone. If this is the reset you are doing:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
I would next try putting the phone into recovery mode, and restoring it with this article:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not get your phone going, I would next seek service for the phone with this article:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

• My MacBook takes a very long to start up.

I just upgraded my mid-2010 polycarbonate (white) MacBook to OS X Lion last month, and I have noticed that, since the upgrade (during which I also replaced the existing RAM with 4 GB of RAM and a installed new internal hard disk), my MacBook takes literally over a minute to start up, when it previously used to take a much shorter time (definitely under 30 seconds). Also, the shade of white on the start-up screen changes from the Snow Leopard-style "pure white" to a sort of "cream white" as the computer boots up. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

>system preferences>startup disk.  Make sure your internal hard drive is selected as the startup disk.  If not, your mac will seach for it, which can be a cause of a long boot up time.

• Satellite P100-324: Need 64bit VISTA drivers

Hi. I have problem with finding drivers for 64bit VISTA for my lap (P100-324). On Toshiba drivers page, there are mostly Vista 32bit drivers, but no 64bit...
What drivers I found working:
chipset - from intel page
display - from laptop2go.com
Especialy, I have problems with Connexant audio and card reader driver.
Maybe you know what EXACTLY is inside this lap?
Best regards,
Jarek

Hi
The internet is a really a gossip factory. I found some statements that Toshiba plans to publish the Vista 64bit drivers. But thats all
We will see in the future what drivers and what notebook series will be supported

• Monitoring via WMI - query needs a long time to get a result

Hi experts!
I am using Icinga (Nagios Fork) and a plugin called check_wmi_plus.pl (Perl Skript) which uses the wmic linux implementation.
I have now multiple servers which needs very long to answer. I am using exactly the same command on the hosts. I give you an example here:
Server-A:  WMI query needs ~70 Seconds, Ping Time is ~0.5-2.0 ms
Server-B:  WMI query needs ~9 Seconds, Ping Time is ~90-120 ms
I ran exactly the same command, from the same host, with the same user credentials and they are on the same domain.
This behavior is not by the operting system because I have 2008r2 and 2003 servers which do both, need short and long time. They are all in different locations so there seems not to be a network issue. Hosts that are having the problems are 2008 hyper-v
hosts but also 2003 file servers.. so I dont see any match here.
I dont know how to go ahead, where to start the next troubleshooting steps?
Is there any WMI log on the server I can monitor?
Any help or ideas would be great! Thanks in advance!
cheers, Duffkess

might related to the network issues, please check the Receive Side Scaling and

• Warning this is very long code but i need help to see if I am on right trac

I have done all the following code myself and it is the buisiness layer for my application. I have tried to follow recommendations on previous posts and I would like to be told where I can clean up my code and how? This is not complete and it looks very long to me but I need help in order to be better. There are 4 button vlivks and I have not completed them all. The criteria for application is that phonebook will accept new entries if they have names surnames and phone numbers that are not longer than 10 characters for display purposes but can change this. No duplicates are allowed. No editing of a existing entry must lead to a duplicate entry either. No new entry or edit may result in a new contact having no phone numbers.

Hi!
I need to load a GET url that si very long. On other browsers, I can load the url. In firefox 3.6, no.
There is an addons or a plugin so I can extend this limit? If yes, is possible to load automatically this addons when loading a certain page? thanks
The url is sometingh like this (this is correctly loaded, but it could be longer)

Firefox should have problems with long GET data appended to an URL (long would be over 64k).<br />
If there are problems then it is possible that an extension is the cause of that.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins

• Firefox does not start for very long after clicking!!If another browser is opened Firefox opens after that.

Firefox does not open after clicking on the Firefox icon on my desktop. Occasionally it opens after a very long time and that also a number of pages open at the same time equal to the number of times hat I clicked the icon trying to open. If I open another browser like Google Chrome after trying to open Firefox then Firefox follows it to open much quicker after Google chrome opens.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:<br>
<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.

• Firmware update and very long start-up

Hi,
I had a firmware update recently and I think that having MB21.00A5.B07 makes my MacBook start-up very long. It takes lot of time before I can see something more then a grey screen.
Am I the only one to experience long start-ups?
Do you have any idea how to solve the problem?

Hi Jovik,
not sure if it helps, but worth trying out:
Open System Preferences - Startup Volume and choos your internal OSX Volume as startup.
Do the needed restart.
Good Luck
Stefan
