Satellite P100: How to remvoe the Touchpad shortcuts

I have a Satellite p100 and I don't find the shortcuts around the touchpad very helpful. I would like to remove them but can't find out how to do it.
Can anyone help?

I dont know if its possible but if yes then you should take a look into the touchpad properties.
Go to the control panel -> mouse -> device settings -> synaptic settings
There you will find different options like Tapping, buttons, virtual scrolling, etc

could you please tell us first which machine youre exactly meaning? Would be useful to know since no one here knows what kind of model you own. And tell me also which LED you mean. Do you maybe mean the touchpad background lighting?
Did you by the way checked the Toshiba utilities for this feature (can be found in the Start menu -> Programs -> TOSHIBA)
Please give me some feedback which model you have and if you already checked the Tosh utils and the "Mouse Properties" in your "Control Panel" on this specific "LED feature".

Satellite C655 - how to fix the hard drive input plug?

I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite C655 could I fix the hard drive input plug because somebody snapped it off and also the start button was removed off the board.
Could anyone let me know by email [email protected] if I can please explain how?

Do you mean the SATA connector on the motherboard? Is it broken?
Well, I dont think its easy to fix. If something is broken on the motherboard, then mostly you will need an new motherboard or you would ask an specialist (electronics technician) for help.

Try to clean the cooling ventilators using compressed air spray. Mostly the notebook switches OFF automatically due to higher temperature and cleaning cooling fans can help to get better cooling performance.

How I fixed the missing shortcuts in InDesign CS4

Today, I got hit by the 'missing shortcut' syndrome on my Windows install of InDesign CS4 - all menu items were totally void of any shortcut. Even cut, copy, paste had no more shortcut keys - Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V didn't do a thing.
I tried fixing it via the Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts... menu, but there I could not even see a set name, and there was nothing I could do.
Ok, tried resetting the preferences - no joy.
Ok, tried wiping the 'Version 6.0' folders from the hidden folders where preferences were stored - no joy.
I got out some diagnostic tools, and noticed InDesign was trying (and failing) to access a folder called
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets\en_US
I checked it out - I did not have a folder called en_US in
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets
but I did have a folder called en_GB
Hmmm....
I opened an Explorer window into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder, and I made a copy of the folder en_GB and renamed it to en_US.
Relaunch InDesign and bingo - all is well!
Looks like InDesign is getting confused between British and US English - probably it got installed as British English, then decided it rather be US English. Why that'd be - no idea.
So, here's what you can try if your shortcut keys suddenly disappear on you:
1) Navigate to the Adobe InDesign CS4 folder
2) Go into the Presets folder
3) Go into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder
4) If you see a folder called 'en_GB', but no folder called 'en_US', make a copy of the en_GB and rename the copy to en_US. Possibly the reverse could also happen - you see en_US, you might want to try and copy it to en_GB.

I had all the Symptoms you list and Kris's solution sorted them out. (It's well worth keeping a backup of those folders.)
However, I found I still had problems that may or may not be related (sorry if this is off topic). Most notably "Registration…", "Deactivate…" and "Updates…" buttons greyed out in InDesign, Photoshop etc. and from Task Manager I noticed that the processes would not stop when you quit these programs. Also Distiller refused to start.
After wasting further time I made a few complaints and was finally allocated a tech person in Adobe support who was actually very helpful. By remote control he deleted the hidden file adobe_00080000_tsf data from the hidden folder C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet. We then started InDesign and I had to enter my Serial No. and register again.
This pretty well fixed the other problems above for a day or two then I started getting "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files." This was fixed by another helpful tech person in Adobe support who, by remote control had a poke around in the <C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe \Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\AMT> folder and surprisingly everything started to work properly again. I don't think he even moved or deleted anything but the whole suite has been trouble free for over a week now.

But I hate that iPhoto acts up when trying to skip/pause the iTunes playback, while browsing my photos.
Is there a way to turn of/disable the shortcuts for iPhoto only?

This turns up regularly and I'm afraid no one has found a way so far.

I am saying that the touch pad still is active/turned on/ works, even though it is disabled according to the menu screen that I reach through control panel. It works all the time, in any program I am using. My latest attempt is to delete the software (Alps vers. 7.1207.101.225) but I see that has not worked either. I'm a poor typist and need to watch the keyboard and my thumbs touch the pad and send the cursor and current words somewhere other than the line on which I am trying to write. Very frustrating.[

The QuickTime Control Panel offers options to run in "kiosk" mode so that the viewed file can't be saved via the Pro upgrade. Each user account has their own settings.
To prevent the keyboard option in the QuickTime movie controller from appearing in a Web based file you would set the object and embed tags to use kioskmode="true". This removes it from the controller menu and stops drag and drop capture but will not stop a determined viewer from obtaining a local copy of your file.
Other QuickTime keyboard options also exist and many people don't know about them.
For example (once the QuickTime file has "focus" in the browser) the arrow keys adjust the movie volume (up/down) and the spacebar starts and stops playback.

The touchpad on my Envy 15 laptop seems to need to be re-calibrated. As far as two-finger scrolling is concerned, the computer thinks the cursor is about 1 to 2 inches farther to the left than it really is.
The malfunction happens in a multi-paned screen or GUI, such as Windows Explorer or Evernote--any interface that is split amongst multiple columns that each have their own scrollbar. If the cursor is resting in the right-most pane but near the border between the two panes, then two-finger scrolling will scroll the wrong pane.
For example, in Windows Explorer, in the right-most pane (i.e., the area that lists all my files), if the cursor is in the right-most pane but resting within 1 inch of the border between the two panes, attempting to two-finger scroll will mistakenly scroll the left-most pane.
In other words, the computer thinks the cursor is about 1 to 2 inches farther to the left than it really is.
My Envy laptop is out of warranty. So I'm hoping there's some way for me to do the recalibration on my own.

I purchased a used Satellite x200 to replace my old p100.
When I received it, I remarked the bios is locked and the person I got it from is unable to tell me the password, arguing she used the finger imprint only four long.
Is there a way to reset the bios password and how much would it cost?

The BIOS password can be removed only by an authorized service provider in country where you live.
So get in contact with Toshiba service partner and ask for BIOS password reset.

Satellite A40: How to update the BIOS because I only have half of the Bios

Hi guys
i went to the local computer shop with my satellite A40 because i only have half of the bios !!!
I sent an email to the german toshiba technical support and they said try a bios update (which baring in mind i still dont know how to do)then we sent my laptop to a local computer shop and told them the problem they told me not to update bios on a cempron processor.
Why not? What are the risks in need to know.
please help me because i want to in the future possibly upgrade to vista??

What do you mean with only have half of the bios?
Whats wrong with the BIOS?
The Toshiba support said -> try a BIOS update.
On the Toshiba page you can download the BIOS for the Satellite A40.
It seems you didnt check the download page detailed because on this page you would find this instruction:

The BIOS update was detailed described in this document and you should follow these guide lines to update the BIOS.
