Satellite P100: Where to find BIOS 2.4 to get rid of overheating

Hello everyone,
Well this is for anyone whos had problems with overheating on the p100 or other such fan troubles in vista or xp.
Here is my backstory:
I bought a new p100 on sept 6th with Vista preinstalled and i found that i couldn't play games becuase A) it had the "stuttering" problem B) my system would overheat an do the auto shut off protection.
So i spent a week searching the forums and the bowls of the internet trying to find solutions for this.
The first most liley solution i found was to downgrade to XP so i did... and that fixed the stuttering problems while playing dvd's and while palying some games!!!
However I still had overheating issues (I could only play games like oblivion for 10 minutes then boom).
My system temperature was peeking at like 75-85 degrees, obviously that is not good. So i phoned up toshiba tech support and they told me to take it into a ASP and have them look at it.
Well thats a problem for me since the nearest ASP is 4 hours away by rocket ship lol jk but so thats plan Z.
So i delved even deeper in the the darkest corners of internet forums....
AND I THINK I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!
However this requires downgradeing to the BIOS version2.40 which after a week of searching i have been unable to find !!!! :(
So my question... my please is; Can anyone tell me where I may be able to find this particular version of the Bios?
If you've had similar problems like this i can post a link to the forum (I don't have it handy at the moment but i can get it if anyone wants it) which i believe has the answers but you should have a pretty good understanding of computer systems to try these fixes. I've weeded ut that altering the ACPI settings doesn't work ( for my system anyway)
Any help in locating the BIOS v2.4 will be greatly appreciated

The stuttering problem you described sounds like what i had when i brought my p100-240 last november....the prob i found was the drive had been set up wrond from factory. It was PIO or something like that set wrong so basic meaning was it read a bit of disk, played it then read next bit causing stuttering and delay whilst watching dvd's. One of the tech guys out there can tell you what it actually is and how to change it as i can't remember.
There is also a bios update version 4 now available.

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

My iphone5, 7.0.3, has 725MB of Messages shown in Usage, but no messages in Message App.  Where are they and how do I get rid of them

Ok, so I think I have found the cause of the problem.
I went to Tools -> Add Ons -> Plug -Ins
Under plug ins I found the zonealarm spy blocker plug in stub
Attached are images of enabled, disabled.
How do I get rid of that space all together, what I mean is, instead of having to choose between a "black space" and a "lego piece space", I want no space.

    Hi
Hmmm what to say. Sounds not good and in my opinion it looks like you have updated the notebook with a wrong BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure
Are you 110% sure you have used the right BIOS??
It seems you will be not able to solve this issue yourself without any additional help from notebook technician.
In most cases the BIOS must be flashed again on special way
For me its clear You have to contact the ASP to get rid of this issue
    Good luck and regards

  • Untitled DVD's listed in Finder that I can't get rid of

I was burning a number of DVDs and noticed, after I burned the DVDs, they are still listed under Finder with a little hazard warning symbol beside them. Without realizing, I deleted them off the desktop and should have ejected them off there. Now it dramatically slows any more disc activity in the disc drive and it won't let me delete, drag, or eject them in the Finder window. How do I clear them off the computer?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Ok....I found someone else's response in the archives.  The solution is.....
"If it exists only in the Sidebar's imagination, then removing
    "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist"
and logging out/in should get rid of the spurious entries."
    Thanks Frances

  • Satellite X200 - How to find BIOS setup for Intel Storage Matrix?

    Hi everyone,
I'm willing to enable the Matrix Storage feature on my Satellite X200-24X. The problem is I can't find any relevant option in the BIOS setup...
    Thanks !

    Hi
The Intel Storage Manager is a driver and not an option in BIOS. The only option that you have in BIOS is the HDD access mode. There you can change between AHCI and Compatible.
For AHCI mode that is faster you need Intel Storage Manager driver. For Compatible mode you dont need additional drivers.
You want to know how to install Storage Manager? Just use the forum search, you will find hundreds of results. ;)

  • NB200 (PLL20E) - Where to find BIOS update?

    Hi,
I have a NB200-10Z (PLL20E series) and want to update the BIOS, but I can't find the BIOS image for my model. The toshiba download section only has it for PLL20U and I tried that and it does not work (doesn't boot from that CD - I attached a USB CD rom).
Do you know a good place to download the bios update .iso?
Can some also offer some general guidelines for the process if it's different than I expect? (download iso, burn to CD, boot from it, update runs).
    Thanks,
    Adrian

Direct Link to the BIOS update for you model....

  • I have been getting firefox not responding for months. It is worse today. I sit and wait and wait. It's not worth it. I have searched about plugins and find nothing that seems to get rid of the problem. Please what can I do about this.

When I first started with firefox it was great and I was so happy with it. Well I have to say it has gotten so bad today that I am ready to give up. I have run virus scans, malware scans and even disabled a couple of add ons but to no avail its terrible.
Surely you all know what add ons it could be if thats it at all. Getting pretty desperate here.

Waka_Flocka_Flame, it looks like you were right. It was an app called "Safe Saver" of all things, that I got with a coupon website. No more magnifying glasses!

  • With the latest OS X, released today (12 October) are you finding that 1, you cannot get rid of your guest account, and 2, the computer has slowed down?

I feel that since updating to 10.7.2, my MBP 15" feels a little slower, especially in the login screen, and I have this "Guest User" on my login screen, and I dont want it there!!! How can I get rid of it, and is anyone else having the same problems? Thanks!

Hi thanks for the answer... Apple have told me that the guest account can be deactivated, but not removed from the login screen and the lagged Bootup/Shutdown is due to the iCloud services coming online and the computer synching with iCloud!
Just wanted to share this with you if it helps.

  • Re-installed itunes; now how do I tell the program where to find music on my external?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. I keep my files on an external hard drive--but in 2 different folders on the same hard drive. Problems: 1. Itunes does not know where to find the files. I get a little exclamation point next to all the songs. 2. Only songs from one of the two locations show up at all.
Less important, though still of interest to me: Only some of my playlists are showing up as well. I think I had two different itunes library .xml files before. And it is looking at the older of the two. Is that possible?
    Thanks

Try restarting AppleTV by unpowering as well as restarting computer/iTunes and router.

  • Get rid of quick find!

Normally I just use control+F to open the bar to search the page. However recently Firefox has been opening this quick find bar whenever I tap any letter. It's not too much of a big deal, but in instances where I want to go to Google and type in as soon as the page is loaded (like I used to be able to do) instead of clicking on the search bar, it can get annoying. Normally the search bar or whatever is selected automatically and you can type right away, and it still is, but unless you actually click on it again it isn't ACTUALLY selected; typing will just open up quick find.
Any way to get rid of this?

hi Aurus, you can disable that feature in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' by un-checking the "search for text when i start typing" preference.

  • A friend gave me an older Nano 3rd generation. Can anyone tell me how to delete what is on there and how to get rid of his name. It does not connect to my itunes. I cannot even find the source or the place to restore it as suggested in the owners manual.

I have a 3rd generation ipod that a friend gave me. I cannot find anything on how to get rid of his name and music on it. This is what the owners manual says:
"Select ipod nano in the soiurce list and click the summary tab" I cannot find the source or the summary tab on itunes. Can any one help me? I would like to delete everything on it and start over but I am afraid I cannot add anything back on it. I know this is detailed and a lot, but I really need help.

    Restore
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure toback up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
How to restore your iPod:For Windows:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    For Mac:
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod, even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
    6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    9. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

  • Where can I find new display drivers for Satellite P100

    Hello,
i need new display drivers for my Notebook (Satellite P100), but it's only Version 84.0 to download.
I need version 162.0 or higher.
On Nvidia Web-Site is the new 167.0 beta, but does it work with my system?

The Toshiba graphic drivers on the Toshiba European driver page are not the same like the original graphic driver from the graphic card manufacturers.
Therefore you cannot compare the driver version numbers!
Generally the graphic driver which appears on the Toshiba page is the newest Toshiba driver.
    Best regards

  • Satellite P100-196 - Does Bios (4.80) includes the EC/KBC update?

Does anybody know whether the Satellite P100 BIOS update (4.80) includes the EC/KBC update? I downloaded the BIOS from this website and installed it but it does not show whether the EC/KBC has been updated as well.
If there is a seperate update for the EC/KBC where can I download it?

    Hi
As far as I know the EC/KBC rewriting disk is available for ASP technicians only.
So you will not find it separately for download on the Toshiba driver pages.
Only the BIOS is available for download and usually the EC/KBC should be a part of the BIOS update.

  • Need a BIOS flash boot disk for Satellite P100-240

I need to be able to flash my Satellite P100-240 from a bootable CD.
The only BIOS I can find on this site needs to be run from windows.
Ive seen BIOS 4.40 for P100 on other Toshiba sites, eg:
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2115 524xml&sliceId=&dialogID=56504155&stateId=0%200%20 56506013
But not sure whether that is appropriate for P100-240.
They seem to be completely differently named. Not sure if thats a country based thing.
Will the BIOS in the link mentioned be ok to run on my p100-240??

Your notebook is NOT US series but European series and you have to use the BIOS from the Toshiba European driver page!
The wrong BIOS can damage the notebooks BIOS ROM module!!! And this would lead to the point where you wouldnt be able to boot the machine!!!
Therefore you should ALWAYS use the BIOS designed for this notebook series!!!
Furthermore you will not find any traditional BIOS updates on the Toshiba page!
There are only windows-based BIOS updates and you could update it ONLY from running windows OS.
If the notebooks BIOS cannot be updated from the Windows OS then you have to contact the Toshiba technician and have to ask for the help!!!
This is everything what you can do
