Satellite P200: Question about ATI HD 2600 drivers release

Will there be a release for a FULL XP HD2600 driver for the P200?
I am waiting, since I bought my laptop for drivers, but it is still a BETA.
I wrote several mails to Toshiba. I am seriously thinking of buy an other laptop with an NVIDIA card:
1 & 2. Answer:
There is a new driver available ---- no, it was every time the same driver, it has been only re-uploaded, there were NO changes
3. Answer:
use omega drivers --- haha, they dont work with 2k cards
4. Answer:
go to laptopvideo2go.com --- lol, they only have NVIDIA drivers!!!
Because of that I want to ask here:
Are there any informations for a driver release for a P200 XP Ati HD 2600 driver?
I only want to know, if they will release a driver?

Hi guys
I have already provided answered your first thread in the gaming area!!!
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=27484&tstart=0
One more info;
Many different Toshiba notebooks series are delivered with the same graphic cards.
So sometimes the newer drivers can be found in other notebook series area on the Toshiba driver page. Just take a look into different notebook series which were delivered with the same GPU and check for newer version.
But there should be also a possibility to use the ATI drivers.
You have to download the driver package from ATI and should install the driver from device manager.
There choose Install from a list or specific location -> Dont search. I will choose the driver to install.
Then choose simply the INF file which was downloaded with the package.
But note; such drivers can be used only at your own risk!!!

  • Questions about ati radeon 2600 on an 2006 mac pro

I know the debate has been going around for awhile about these cards, Apple claims that they are not supported but my card runs as long as you have leopard installed. So far the card has performed great, all my games and graphics programs run beautiful with it but I do have two problems. One is I can only have my display set at 1400 x 1050 any lower setting results in severe blurring on the screen. The other problem is that the text on my screen is some what pixelated and blurry.
I was wondering if there is a fix for this problem or is it just the price I have to pay for running it on a 2006 mac pro.

If it is a problem, and you can afford another upgrade, the Radeon 3870 might be your best choice.

  • *Solved* Question about ATI Drivers

Ok, I'm just finished installing, and I know most distro's, ask you to remove the open source drivers, before adding in FGLRX  drivers.  Looking at the wiki, I didn't noticed if this needed to be done, and after going through the install, I rebooted.  It went as planned until kdm went to load.  The screen was unreadable.  I used the cd media to mount root, and removed catalyst, and re-installed the opensource drivers.  All is well atm, so I'm trying to figure out what I missed.  My question atm though is during the FGLRX install, it ask's if you want to removed the opensource drivers due to conflict.  If I hit yes, will pacman it automatically remove the required drivers, or do I need to manually remove the Fx86 drivers on my own?
I do apologize for not having a /etc/X11/xorg.conf report, as it slipped my mind while fixing everything. I'll try to make a better habbit of getting it made. I did do a aticonig --inital before the reboot, so i know it won't that.
If I missed anything on the wiki, please let me know, I'll look again at it after dinner.
Thank you all for  your time in the matter.

    Hi there
First off, which installation method are you following? (ABS using the AUR package, the unofficial repository or the AMD installer). Depending on which method you use, you'll have (or not) a resolved dependency. For instance, you have to remove both the open source driver and your former xorg.conf file (safer is to back it up) to be able to install Catalyst with the AMD's site installer.
If you use AUR (with a tool like Yaourt for example) or the repo method, pacman/yaourt should do it for you, but in a lot of cases it doesn't (I switched to Catalyst having my OpenBox session built already, so when I tried to remove the open source driver it complained about all of the apps that I had installed for removing a dependency like libgl or mesa) and you'll have to do a pacman -Rdd xf86-video-ati to make it work
I'm wondering if you remembered to add the mkinitcpio hook (which is needed to make Catalyst work).
What I would suggest is to re-read the wiki page for Catalyst, see if your card is still supported by Catalyst, maybe your card needs Catalyst-Legacy...
    Best of Luck with that
I figured it out, and got it working.  I had a typo adding the module for flgxr driver.  Fixed it and a soft boot later, all is well.  I also deicided to make it so I have to "startx" into my gui, incase this happens again, I won't need the installation media.  Thanks for the input.

  • Satellite A200 - Question about HDD partitions and RAM

This may be in the wrong section... I don't know.
I've never owned an OEM OS and I also don't understand why the HDD comes partitioned 90, 2, 90 (who thought of that?).
The thing is that I have to format and partition differently (since I have to dual boot Linux) and need to create a structure more like 40,40,100 or such. (100 being fat32 so data can be accessed for both)
Now I'm just wondering which data I should be keeping from these drives. There's a folder called Toshiba on the C:\ drive which seems to have drivers and such, a few wallpapers and who knows what else. Then there's the D: drive called WinRE which has some sort of sdi and wim files.
Another question, if I buy the 2GB which is listed in the compatible options for my laptop (A200-28P)
    Link: [http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/individualOptions.do?service=UK&OPTION_ID=138301&t oshibaShop=true&selCategory=4700]
Will it match the 2GB already in the laptop? Will it void the warranty in any way?

Yes, I am using Vista, sorry, I forgot to mention that. The drive however is definately not hidden (it's clearly visible as the D drive and labelled WinRE).
I'm not an idiot. I understand it, but you have got to admit that giving the OS 90 is a bit extreme and obviously I know what I can do with the other 90.
I'd also like to point something out:
"It's always advisable to partition an large HDD in more partition. This improves the performance because OS can access the files much faster."
This is more than just an urban myth, it is down right stupid to believe that. After all, the data has a physical position on the drive and partitioning doesn't change the fact that it still has to get the needle to point to the location where the data is located on the drive.
The needle still travels the same distance as referred to by the MFT.
The question is if I can alter the partitions when using the strange Toshiba recovery disk. Afterall OEMs don't come with standard install disks and seem to limit your options.
Again regarding the ram, I know the laptop can run 4 gigs, but I want to know whether the 2GB stick I'd buy from Toshiba would be the exact same as the one already installed, as in same timings and such.
So in conclusion the data on D is worthless. What about the stuff in the Toshiba folder? And sorry if I sound condescending or like an *insert disallowed word here*, I'm just not in the best mood right now (serious data loss on my project because of a Uni server crash!).

  • Satellite 5100 - Question about dead pixels. Is it really dead pixel problem?

    Hi,
I've got Satellite 5100-603. There have been some dead pixels on display. I don't know is it really dead pixel problem or not because the black area seems to be behind the screen. When i move left and right sides, the black area moves left and right sides too (as if the black area is behind the screen pixels)! And i can tell that all pixels are working OK when i look from the right and left sides of the display (because the pixels that seems to be dead, changes at different looking angles).
Are there really dead pixels or is it some other problem?
Is there anything that i can do about it?
For info, i am using my laptop for 2,5 years and there is no warranty of course...
    Thanks for any help..

    Hi
to answer your question I will try to make a simple description the layout of the TFT display.
I'll go from the front to the back.
In the front is a tough plexi-glass like layer to protect the screen from harm and the user from glass in case the TFT should break. It is also prepared in a way that will soften the reflections from behind (that does not go for the newer SuperBright screens).
Behind that is the 2 layers (at least 1 of glass, probably both) that hold the actual matrix of the pixels.
Behind theese 2 are a very complex set of layers that take care of the backlight. It consists of various numbers of films that should spread the light from the singel FL-tube evenly across the complete screen. Not a easy task if you ask me!
Sometimes, physical stress or dirt can make 'blotches' appear on the screen and they are in fact either dirt on the backmost layer or marks on the same. If there is dirt or marks on it, that will 'shadow' the light that comes out from it and show dark spots on the screen. They are quite different from defective pixels.
The defective pixels do not change with the angle of view for example.
I think you cannot do anything about this except changing screen. The construction is very complex and sensetive.

  • Satellite P850 - question about Infrared port

    Hi,
I have Windows 8 Pro installed onto my laptop and I've downloaded all the drivers and everything is working fine apart from the Infrared. I've searched all over the internet and I can't find a remote control to use with this laptop (including the Toshiba website).
I've installed the latest ENE CIR Driver (v4.1) as well as the Toshiba Remote Control Manager (v3.1.0.1). I looked in Program Files to open the Toshiba Remote Control Manager however when I click on the program to open it... Nothing happens (including in the notification area).
So my question is can I actually get a remote working with this laptop at all and if not then what is this Infrared port for because I can't find anything on my computer to actually use it with/for?!
    Thanks for your help :p

    Hi
Some Satellite P850 models are equipped with the remote controller and its possible to use the remote controller with Windows Media Center to play discs or videos, to view pictures and to watch recorded TV programs.
Models which dont include the a remote controller are *NOT* equipped with the an infrared receiver so the notebook cannot be operated with a remote controller.
The remote controller was not part of the package so your notebook does not support infrared receiver and therefore the installation of ENE CIR Driver and Toshiba Remote Control Manager was useless

  • Two questions about ATI RADEON HD 3870

I've been in touch with macsales.com and they recommend the ATI RADEON HD 3870 for the Mac Pro Xeon (late 2006-2007) running 10.5. But they were unable to answer w/ 100% certainty:
    1. That all I need to connect this card (it has 2 DVI ports) to my Samsung SynchMaster with one DVI cable connected "DVI to DVI" and one VGA - WITH - a DVI to VGA adapter on the VGA cable.
For those who don't know, the Samsung monitor must have both DVI and VGA connected to operate.
    2. I've read on this (Displays) forum that this card will only work "up to" 10.5 and won't work if I upgrade to 10.6. Is this correct? Also, is there a chance that Apple will "correct" 10.6 to work with the HD 3870 in a future point release? (I'm not yet willing to jump to 10.6, so this is for the near future when I do.)
Less important "#3" question: is it possible to make the HD 3870 backward compatible with 10.4? I ask because I'm running 10.4 on a separate internal drive so that I can continue to use some older apps for mission critical tasks. Eventually, I still plan to get rid of 10.4 - it's just not possible right away.

Thanks for the added input on the 3870. I also got confirmation that the "dual connection" (AVG + DVI) on the Samsung display can be worked out with an adapter.
But I've made up my mind: there's just too many counter-balancing factors. I'm pretty sure now that I can wait to see if the Geforce 7300 burns out. If it does so in the next 290 days, I'll just have Apple replace it for free since my AppleCare would take care of the cost.
I'm a retired purchasing agent so this 're-deciding' (with a lot more at stake) is normal for me. In this case (mine), I no longer see much advantage in having Snow Leopard. It's still new and needs at least one more upgrade / debugging release. Besides: I haven't mentioned that I have other ways I haven't used to boost the Mac Pro's performance.
As a "compensatory purchase" I just placed an order for two more RAM modules which will fill remaining RAM slots. That alone will give me a little more juice (as you say). These cost one-third that for a new graphics card (or less). This should tide me over - still running 10.4 and 10.5 on two drives. When my Apple Care runs out, I may well be in a position to buy a new Mac Pro with mature Snow Leopard, better graphics card, etceteras.

  • Satellite 2410: Question about different ways to use BlueTooth

    Hi,
I'm having trouble finding somewhere to purchase a bluetooth module for my Toshiba Satellite 2410 - the handbook says I can, and I know there is space on the underside of the laptop to insert it.
I just can't seem to find one to buy - does anybody know if they actually exist, as I am beginning to think not??!...or is the cheapest way to bluetooth enable the laptop to buy a USB adaptor?
If so, will a cheap one affect the download rate when using the Internet?? And what is the difference between an SD card and a USB bluetooth adaptor?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, with the detailed name I mean the full notebook number Satellite 2410-xxx.
However, you ask what a difference between Wireless Lan and Bluetooth.
The WLan is technology which allows you using or/and to create a LAN but without the cables.
;) The Wlan routers for example allow you to connect to the internet without the cable connection.
    Bluetooth technology:
If device like (mobile phones, printer, etc) support BT technology and you notebook uses also a BT so it's possible to connect these devices without cables. The devices should be placed in the available range.
I would recommend searching a little bit in the internet for more information about Wlan and Bluetooth

    1) Accelerated Graphics Port - there is enabled if yes that that it is necessary to make that it became accessible.
    2) whether Frequency of hertz with 60 can be raised even up to 75.

    Hi
I have noticed that on some Toshiba notebooks the screen refresh rate is fixed on 60 Hz.
The display refresh rate is not important on the notebook screens.
TFT matrix doesn't have such thing as refresh rate. It doesn't blink.
TFT like all other LCD screens doesn't have refresh rate parameter, only reaction time.
    Your eyes are safe ;)
Ps: As far as I know the AGP port is not available.

  • ANother question about installing Boot Camp Drivers

Recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Have not used boot camp yet, but when I do, when it comes time to install the drivers, should I use the disc that came with my computer (older system version) or use the Snow leopard disc?
I would assume the SL disc, but I just didn't know if the disc that came with the computer might contain drivers that the SL disc might not.
    Thanks again.
Message was edited by: Seems like Trav

    Hi,
the SL DVD is my choice to go, since it contains the newer 3.0 versions of the Apple BootCamp Drivers.
If the DVD that came with your Mac is a Leopard disc than it contains the older 2.0 or 2.1 drivers (depending on when you bought your Mac).
If your Mac came with OSX Tiger, than there aren't even any BootCamp Drivers on the DVD.

  • A question about video game and drivers for Nvidia

I have recently bought the parallels program and installed Win 7 on my Mac. So far so good. Then I installed a game called Champions Online (PC based). The problem is that when I load the game, it crashes with an error message saying basically that my drivers are not working properly (that's the interpretation from the support team at Champions). They suggested that I delete and reload my drivers for the Nvidia card. How do I do that? If that doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions as to the solution to my problem?

Parallels and other virtual environments are not meant for games and 3D intensive applications. Run Windows through Boot Camp if you want to play games.

    Thanks a lot

    Hello
If you want to see desktop on TV use please recommended cable (S-Video), connect it to TV, activate S-Video port on TV and using FN+F5 jey combination you should be able to switch to TV.
    For Mohiuddin
Enable S-Video port on your TV. If you TV dont support that you should use S-Video to Composite-Video adapter (Cinch-Cable).

  • Satellite A30: Question about new Hard Drive

The hard drive on the above computer has failed. When formating the system hangs at 70%. When running a utility to recover the hard drive again it fails at 70%.
I am now looking at replacing the hard drive and would like to know can any 2.5" hard drive (speed/make/size) be used (non Sata).
I would have assumed it would not be a problem but there is no way of changing the settings in the Bios, does the Bios auto detect the drive when fitted?.
When fitting the hard drive can it be fitted through the access panel on the rear of the laptop or does the whole back need to be removed?
    Thanks,
    Keith.

    Hi Keith,
The hard drive on the satellite A30 is located underneath the optical drive which must be removed from its slot first. To do this just undo one screw (F5 I think) underneath the notebook and the optical drive will then be free to slide forwards.
The hard drive will then be visible secured in place by four screws (2 on each side). Remove the screws and then pull the hard drive towards the front of the notebook to disconnect it from the connector.
You will need to transfer the mounting brackets to the new hard drive which is then inserted by reversing the above procedure.
The BIOS will automatically recognise the new drive.
If you choose a drive with a higher rotaional speed than the normal 4200RPM be careful of the extra heat that will be generated. I use a 5400RPM drive in my A30 and it does tend to warm up quite nicely when the drive is being used heavily.
