Satellite P200-RT1 - FN keys don't work after downgrade to XP

Hi
I have a Satellite P200-RT1, PSPBOC.
I have downgraded my operating system from Vista to XP.
Now I am having a driver issue, I have installed all of the drivers for my computer. I have installed all of the HotKey utilities for my computer as well and I still have an issue. Some of my FN Key functions don't work. The ESC to F5 Functions work but all of the functions above there do not.
I am really looking for the Display Brightness and Dimmer keys F6&F7 to work, if possible I would also like the F9 key touch pad enable/disable key to work as well, which as of right now they don't.
I was wondering if there is a driver that I am missing and if so which driver is it. I have taken my computer into three computer shops now and no one can figure this out. Please Help ME!
Thanks Ken.

Hello
It seems that your notebook is a Canadian model and therefore you can download the drivers on the Toshiba Canada website:
http://www.toshiba.ca
The problem is that I cant find Windows XP drivers on this website. :(
The only way I know is that you try the drivers and utilities from the European website. Normally the models are very similar and maybe it works. Its worth a try.
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Try to download and install Toshiba Accessibility and Controls (Driver).

Fn+b keys don't work after installing Win7 Ultimate (HP Envy 14 BE)  --not able to use the Beats Speakers. Any software updates I need to install?

    Hi Jim,
    You're welcome
Is the version of Windows 7 Ultimate you have installed 32bit or 64bit?
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers - do you see an existing entry for the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC listed here?
There is an alternative IDT Audio driver you may wish to try on the following link.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53281.exe
Let me know if you get the same error with this version.

  • Macbook pro 13inch,mid2010 qwertyu keys don't work after upgrade os x Yosemite

macbook pro 13inch,mid2010 qwertyu keys don't work after I upgrade os x 10.10 Yosemite. but it works on keyboard viewer. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software problem, how can I fix it?

    Hello there, kipolo.
Great job using the Keyboard viewer to troubleshoot your issue so far. The following Knowledge Base article provides a great checklists of steps to pinpoint the issue a bit further:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond - Apple Support
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane in System Preferences, then click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working.  If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly.  Use How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

    FN keys don`t work on win7 satellite A300 20P

    Hi
I had the same problem on my Satellite A300 after Windows 7 installation. So I downloaded and installed Toshiba Value Added Package. It was pretty easy, just few clicks and one restart. What happened after restart? Yes, the FN keys works!!! :)

  • Keyboard volume keys don't work after waking from sleep

This problem has existed for many months on my 2009 Mac Pro. I'm running 10.6.3. The problem is reproducible 100% of the time. I use external speakers. Sound output is set to "Line Out."
    1. Boot machine. External speakers work fine. Volume keys on keyboard (F11, F12) work correctly.
    2. Put machine to sleep.
    3. After waking from sleep, F11 and F12 no longer control the volume of the external speakers. The "pop" noise when hitting F11 and F12 is emitted from the internal speaker. The mute key (F10) does work for the external speakers, however.
    4. The keyboard volume controls become responsive again by switching the sound output from Line Out to another output option and then back to Line Out.
This bug is a huge hassle. Does anyone have a solution?

I have several mid-2009 8-core Mac Pro's, all running Snow Leopard, and all have been having this problem as well.
I will not guarantee this is going to work for anyone else....but we have found a (slightly inelegant) workaround for it that has been working for several weeks now without fail.
Prior to putting your MacPro to sleep, run the volume all the way up and leave it there. Afterwards, put it to sleep as usual. We use the keyboard to do this, but I would imagine any method should have the same affect. However, I've not experimented.
Anyway...this has worked 100% of the time for us. The only downside of it is that you have to remember to run it up before....and then back down after waking (else that first alert sound or music file you play will really wake YOU up!)
If this works for anyone else, let me know.
Apple should never have let this one out the door with this bug. Especially, as Apple Support is....wanting, at best.

  • Satellite A100-237 multimedia keys don't work

I cannot use multimedia keys on my laptop. (Next, previous, play/pause).
Is it related with a driver.
    Can somebody help me??

    Hi
These keys will work only with the WMP or the WinDVD another applications are not supported.
In you case I would recommend checking the settings in the Toshiba controls properties under control panel. If whole settings are correct you could try to reinstall the Toshiba controls utilities.
By the way: The common modules must be installed because this application is important for most Toshiba utilities

  • Satellite P200-10G - Some programs don't work

    Hi everyone.
Ok so we have a product recovery disc and we tried to reinstall Windows but it wouldnt work. Some of our programs like Bluetooth and the built in webcam dont work for no reason. Other programs like Google Earth and AVG the antivirus program we cant get off our system. I installed the Notebook with recovery disc but now when I put that disc in and I try to reinstall Windows nothing happens. There is no error message or anything. All of the programs that I have installed in my Notebook I can't delete. For example Google Earth, & AVG the antivirus program. I get a message that says that those programs are already removed but they're still in my notebook. My c-drive 80 gb is almost full and I have no clue what is taking that space up. All my music and pictures etc. are on my drive E.
Does anybody know what we should do?
    Much apreciation,
    Musa

Ok Im sorry guys, the first problem is that the computer, by itself, kept losing those programs. The 2nd problem is I cant delete anything from my computer ( Google earth, AVG antivirus program ). The 3rd problem is that my drive-C is 80 gb big, and 60 gb is the original programs that come with the notebook, and a few programs that I've downloaded myself. I have no clue what is on my drive-c, theres no music, no videos nothing. Everything else I save to drive E. I got a recovery disc with my notebook, and I tried to reinstall it but my notebook wont do anything. When I try to reinstall Windows Components nothing happens. Is there anything that I can do, or do I have to take it to a Toshiba service? My notebook is operating with Windows vista 32 b.
    Thanks again

  • Toshiba 'fn' keys don't work after update to kernel from pacman

I updated my system, a toshiba NB505, which had working 'fn' keys. (screen brightness specifically)
I don't know if it's possible to go back in kernel releases, if they're deleted or such (I had previously thought that maybe the fallback was just the last working kernel, nope), or if this is a problem with something else.

    chrisportela wrote:is xev a command/program?
yes. Try man pages as well.
You can also use xbindkeys to figure out the keybinding. For eg. for my wife's toshiba L505, when I clicked Alt + F2, xbindkeys returned a code of
    Mod1 + Mod2 + F2
I think..or something like that. I will go home and check later tonight.

  • Fn+b keys don't work after installing windows7 home premium.

I already installed the IDT Audio but the Beats icon does not show when the fn+b keys were pressed. What should I do?
    Product Name: Pavilion dm1-4000au
    Product number: QG411PA

    Hi hotjicks,
Do you see the beats icon in the systray?
It appears to be time to reinstall the IDT audio driver and update the quick launch software. This can be done by use of the Recovery manager or by downloading the driver and software.
Select the driver or software you need to install and then click on next.
Here is a link to the support portal for your notebook. The drivers are in the driver and software download section.

  • Satellite P300 - Quick launch buttons don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

I upgraded my Satellite P300 from Vista to Windows 7 professional. Initially everything worked fine, now for some reason the inbuilt microphone and the speakers do not work. I subsequently found that none of my 'Quick Start' buttons work, ie I cannot turn them ON or OFF, so perhaps the quick start Mute button is OFF, hence no sound. A computer check of the Microphone and the Speakers confirm that they are working so I guess the Mute button is On, no sound.
Is there any way I can get the Quick Start buttons to work again or turn the mute button OFF so that I can get sound. The funny thing is the speakers work if I use Skype, but I cannot play a CD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Dr Lamp
Thank you for your reply. After upgrading from Vista to windows 7 from the disc everything worked fine, a month later for some reason the sound just stopped. When I play a CD or select music from the computer and double click on the speaker icon I can see the music playing but there is no sound, it is muted, but why I do not know.
It is interesting that you Added Vista stuff because when I had Vista everything worked fine, I just didn't like it much. As I am a novice how did you add it. If I add something, does it run alongside Windows 7 or does it replace some bits. The reason I ask is that in Windows 7 the courser jumps around in Word making writing letters difficult, I have to disable the pointer when writing which is a pain.
Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks for your help

  • ICal and Mail don't work after downgrade from Lion to Snow Leopard

Hey everyone, after an extremely awful time with with Lion (it knocked out of my audio interface AND my wireless) I downgraded back to Snow Leopard yesterday. I made a Carbon Copy of my Lion drive with all my data on an external drive (which I still have) and after wiping my local drive clean I reinstalled Snow Leopard from my disk. After it was done I chose to transfer data from another system local system (I selected everything) and an hour and a half later everything was transferred over. After doing a software update, I've found that I get big error messages with iCal, Mail, and even the App Store that say they can't open and I'm assuming that it has to do with incompatible data that got transferred from Lion. Any ideas on how to get those programs back up and running?? Thanks so much for you help!

    > In the device manager the two ports are listed under "other devices" and no driver is installed for them.
Indeed the USB issue seems to be related to missing drivers.
You have to install this USB 3.0 driver:
    [AMD USB Driver v 2.0.7.176 Windows 7 - 64 Bit|http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=178&selProduct=7534&selSh ortMod=null&language=13&selOS=30&selType=all&yearu pload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=a llMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=al l&selectedLanguage=13&type=all&page=3&ID=87792&OSI D=30&driverLanguage=42]
Furthermore you have to ensure that chipset driver was installed too.
The notebook supports ATI graphic chip and AMD chipset. The chipset driver is part of the ATI graphic card driver and therefore you should ensure that this driver would be installed too.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Fn keys does not work with Windows Vista

    Hello,
I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a retail license for Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit (with SP1) installed on it.
Before installing Vista, I upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
BIOS version is now 2.20-WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]
After the successful installation of the operating system, I installed the "Value Added Package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) which contains the "Flash Cards Utility". In my understanding, the installation of the "Value Added Package" should enable the Fn keys usage.
This doesn't seem to be true or not completely true.
    Here is what happens.
    - Before the installation of the "Value Added Package" all the Fn keys didn't work.
    - After the installation of the "Value Added Package", if the TCrdMain.exe process is running, all the Fn keys don't work.
    - If I remove the TCrdMain.exe from the startup and I reboot the PC, only some Fn keys work (Fn+ESC, Fn+F1).
There is no way (or I didn't find a way) to make all the Fn keys working.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
    Thanx in advance,
    mme000

I do not know for sure but it can be because of SP1. I have installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and all listed stuff (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.
Does your installations Vista DVD contains SP1 or you have installed it on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate (without SP1) and all stuff from Toshiba support site following Installations Instructions order.

Okay  so I have the Pavilion Sleekbook  15-b011nr

I installed an updated bios, ran a diagnostic test using F2 and under the compenant test for the keyboard it failed and gave me this

now while trying to type all this I found other letters now working as well as me not being able to input the semicolon with either shift key. frustrating since I got this laptop in June so it's still under warranty. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so how do i fix mine? I'm pretty tech savvy so feel free to let me know, or is my only option is a replacement from HP?
