Satellite p205, hd wiped clean,missing os,formatting

I have a satellite p205,32 bit with vista home premium. Had "Hacked by Godzilla" & wanted to get rid of it. I called toshiba tech support for help & they said the only way to be rid of it was to do a full recovery. Sold me the restore disk set. When I ran the disk it wiped my HD clean. Now I get a message "missing operating system" error code "08-064B-0000". When running the 1st disk again I get the missing operating system and a pop-up telling me that I first need to format hard drive (C). After calling Toshiba tech support again the person tells me that I need to take it to a Toshiba service center and they will fix it for a cost of $400. I didn't mind kicking the $25 for the disk set, although I wish I wouldn't have now, but the $400 for them to fix it I do mind. I didn't like the FIX the disk did for $25...I'm not so sure I want to upgrade to the $400 FIX ! Need some help with the formatting...any suggestions? Thanks in advance.......

From the Toshiba manual:
If you need to recover your computer to its default factory state, you
can rebuild the system using your Hard Drive Recovery Utilities.
To recover your hard disk drive using the utilities burned to CDs or
DVDs (refer to “Creating Recovery CDs/DVDs” on page 59):
1 Insert the first recovery CD or DVD into your optical drive and
power on the computer.
2 When the initial screen displays, press F12.
The boot menu appears.
3 Using the arrow keys, select the CD/DVD option and press
Enter. The system will boot up to the Toshiba Recovery Wizard
screen.
Please refer to “Hard Disk Drive Recovery options” on
page 61, to explain the available recovery options.

my ipod 4th gen gets wiped clean of music anytime I sync. it then only redownloads some of the music in the library and wont upload missing songs.  They show on the ipod grayed out. How do I get this to stop? re-uploading takes 4 hours and is never completed.  I only get some of the 6000+ songs I have. This started when I updated to IOS5 i think.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite P205

Gents, is it possible to increase RAM memory to 6 or 8 GB Windows 7 in the Satellite P205-S6337?
Can it use Windows 7 , operating in 64 bits ?
    Thank you

Maximum RAM capacity for this notebook is 4096MB.
Generally speaking you can use 64bit OS but check at first if this model is supported for 64bit operating systems. Without support there is no sense to install 64bit OS version due to missing drivers, tools and utilities.

  • Memory upgrade failed -satellite P205

Satellite P205-S6287 has 2 GB RAM and specs say two slots and should support 4 GB max. I installed new RAM and laptop turns on very briefly, no screen, just power on light and a disk rumble for 1-2 seconds then nothing else with both RAM slots loaded.  It will start normally with either one of the two RAM slots loaded, but when I add the second sodimm I get the behavior above. Updated BIOS to 1.70 from 1.30. Running Vista. Any suggestions?

  • Why did my hardrive get wiped clean when I did a simple system update?

On May 4th, 2010 my eMac, which is running Mac OS X (10.4.11) did it's automatic system update. I bought this eMac it was a refurb from eBay. I never had a single problem, it ran perfectly fine when I had tested it out, everything was great. I transferred some photos and music from my old Windows computer to the "new" eMac, and some of the music was newer and needed a system update to work properly. I thought nothing of it so I went to www.apple.com and looked for the update, found it, and started it. I had went ahead and stepped away while it updated to pass the time. Once I had gotten back I went ahead and restarted the computer like you must do with every update, when I had logged back in, my hard drive was wiped clean. At the time I was a little perturbed to say the least, but I passed it off as it not having an update in so long that it had just, more or less, reinstalled the new system update. Once again I passed it off not thinking anything of it, never had another problem out of it at all. I had put a many of programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Audition, Dreamweaber, Garageband (full version), djay v3, and I had even JUST put Logic Studio on it, and many others. After putting, more or less, my entire livelihood on the eMac, (I create website designs, various ads, freelance photography and videography, and a verity of other logos, designs, insignia, emblems, ect...) it did another automatic update, now my ENTIRE hard drive is wiped clean. I no longer have possession of my software discs due to someone stealing them along with all my audio cds, and dvds. I don't have the money to spend on new software, (altogether my software added up to just over $2.5k) and now I am already feeling the effects. What can I do? Will Apple even help?

As for your comment on this being my first Mac, and the program issue, you misunderstood. Yes the eMac is in fact my first, personally owned, Mac computer other than the original Apple II series floppy fed PC, in which me and my father owned. The only other Apple/Macintosh computer I had experience on was my father's 13" MacBook Pro, and 20" iMac (both ran OSX Tiger 10.4.11, just as the one I have know runs). The iMac was upgraded to Snow Leopard due to our need for better picture/video/audio editing software such as that of Adobe, and the Macbook Pro was sold because of a business that was started being siphoned out of money. I purchased the eMac from a small business based off of eBay. It had the majority of OSX Tiger software, only missing minor programs like Photobooth. Other than that, it had no wireless software like BlueTooth, Wi-Fi capabilities, wireless sync, ect... But alas, when you buy a Apple/Mac computer, you must take a few cutbacks when purchasing it (even refurb.) for around $120.00 including taxing, shipping, handling, ect... I purchased nearly all of my software from co-workers and friends who had an extra key, or I would receive the software disc from them, and buy a key. The only "illegal" thing I had on the computer was music I had downloaded from LimeWire. I have never, and will never, trust any software coming from a torrent download site.

  • Satellite P205-S6277: Can I take off the battery and connect the power too?

I am working on my notebook Toshiba satellite P205-S6277, 80% of my time at home.
Can I take off the battery and connect the power to a backup UPS in order to make battery life longer?
I can charge it once a week.

Of course you can do this. You can remove the battery and work on AC power supply only. Be sure there is no dust on the desk and the battery place on the notebook stay clean for further usage.

  • I have a used G4 that is wiped clean.

i got a used G4 that is wiped clean... when i got to install OS X it cant find a drive to install it on. so i opened up the computer to see if it even had one. it has 2, one set up as master and the other a slave. but the OS X cd still will not recognize it. i put in a cd to wipe them clean (SuperScrubber) and it found both drives. i wiped them again hoping that maybe that would work but no such luck. i have also tryed installing 9.2 but that cant find a drive either. any help would be great. thanks.

    Hi, Brent!
Can you boot with and run from the OS 9 disc? If so, can you see the drives if you launch Drive Setup or Disk First Aid from the OS 9 Utilities folder? If so, try formatting the drives using Mac OS Extended format and installing the OS 9 drivers. Afterwards, restart with a PRAM reset and then restart to disc and try an OS 9 install.
What model G4 do you have? You can identify it starting here, or you can make it easy and plug in it's serial number here.
FYI, here's a link to the build info which shows various models and the OS versions which originally shipped with them.
Is the OS X disc an OEM version (gray) or a retail version? To avoid installation problems, you should be using either the original OEM discs that shipped with the particular Mac model you have, or a retail version of OS X which was released at the same time or after the Mac was produced. OS 9 installers/versions can can be even trickier...

  • Upgraded to ios5 and my calendar was wiped clean. Is it gone for good?

upgraded to ios5 and my calendar was wiped clean. Is it gone for good?

My phone says it's showing All Calendars.  This morning, other people said to disable and then re-enable the iCloud Calendar, which has somehow allowed about 50% of my Calendar entries to reappear, but half are still missing.  This is almost more frustrating because if half were saved when it ran the backup, where are the rest?
All of my calendar entries were entered directly into my iPhone, either manually from the Calendar app, or by getting into it from a Yahoo Email that had an Event I needed to save.  I guess I'll just have to break out the paper calendar and try to re-enter everything that's missing.
The iTunes version I'm running now seems to be the most current one since the constant upgrades are one of the reasons I stay out of iTunes usually.

  • PC died and in turn my main iTunes library. iPhone was synced to it. Now when I try to connect to another library it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library. Any way around that? Don't want to lose music.

My PC died and in turn so did my main iTunes library.  My iPhone was synced to the library that is gone.  Now when I try to connect to another library, it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library.  Any way around that?  I don't want to lose the music that is on my phone.  I am looking for a way to tell the phone to "forget" the old library and let me start working with a new library.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

  • HT1386 How many different computers can I sync my iPod with?  My laptop crashed and was completely wiped clean and this was the machine that my iPod synced with so I don't know if it will be counted as a "new" computer.

How many different computers can I sync my iPod with?  My laptop crashed and was completely wiped clean and this was the machine that my iPod synced with so I don't know if it will be counted as a "new" computer when I sync my iPod.

You can sync with onee at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

I updated itunes to 10.4, my ipod touch was wiped clean then errored (2003) when attempting to restore. Now my ipod is clear, when I turn it on I get the "Connect to itunes screen", this never goes. I have tried disabling my antivirus, to allow me to restore with no luck.
When I go into itunes I get the message - itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes,
how am I supposed to do this ?
I would rather take the ipod to someone to do the restoration - I still have itunes with all of my downloads on my computer, I dont want to risk losing this as I can re-install onto my ipod when it is sorted.

Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on): If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Playlists won't update - ipod wiped clean

Somebody help me before I go insane!!!
Updated to the latest versions of ipod updater and iTunes.
Now - whenever I try and update my ipod I get the following message:-
"songs on your ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
And for good measure - my ipod is now completely wiped clean.
I can see all the playlists in iTunes - all the songs I want on my ipod are selected - what is going on?
I'm three days into giving up smoking after 15 years - I don't need this...please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks very much - yep - you're quite right - I did delete the playlist that iTunes automatically created - which is totally my fault...although surely the software should warn you that deleting playlists automatically created by iTunes is not a wise thing to do?
Anyway - thanks again, life saver

  • My iPad is like it has been wiped clean - none of my photos, contacts, apps, etc are showing.  It is like it is brand new.  Is there any way to recover my pictures, downloads, etc.?

My iPad is now like it has been wiped clean - none of my photos, contacts, etc. are coming up - Is there a way to recover this?

Then I'm sorry.  If your iPad is wiped clean and you have no backup, there is nothing to help you.......Of course you can redownload your apps, even paid for ones, as long you use the same Apple ID you purchased them with.  As for pics, music, etc., you can sync them back to your iPad via iTunes and your computer.  You can set up your mailboxes again, but there's no magic bullet to get your iPad back easily.  Let this be a lesson and once you've got your iPad set up again, BACK IT UP.
