Satellite P205D-S7454

My laptop keep's shutting down for no reason updated BIO'S no help.
Help me please

Gshannon-initial impression is OVERHEATING. Immediate shutdown could a result of either a hardware/software failure.  Ensure the area around fan and exhaust are cleaned.  Since you did a BIOS upgrade did you allow the unit to self pace itself into reboot action or did you shut off prior?  Could also be an incomplete BIOS installation.  After reviewing ,there was no value to installaing that 2008 version 1.40 update.  Locate the Recovery Disc please.

  • Trouble with Satellite P205D-S7454

I am having trouble installing a OS or the recovery discs on Satellite P205D-S7454.  When I am installing the OS it hangs 10 or 15 mins into the installation of any OS (Windows 7, Vista, Ubuntu Linux). I have removed the battery and tried installing while plugged in, no luck.  I have also tried different memory modules, no luck.  I have tried a different HDD, no luck.  I have updated the BIOS to version 1.70 and had no luck installing an OS. I have also ran the laptop through memory and CPU test and the system come back good.  Any ideas on what could be the problem with the laptop?  I am thinking right it has to do with something on the system board. Thanks.

I have the same exact problem, does anyone out there have any idea on how to resolve this problem?

  • Satellite P205d-S7454 randomly shuts down

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P205d-S7454 laptop computer, and love it.
It has worked fine for the past ten months or so with no problems whatsoever.
However, yesterday while playing a videogame I've played on my computer many many times before, my computer just shut-off, no shutdown screen, it just turned off as if a power switch had been hit.
I turned it back on, it started to load windows, but then shut down again, I turned it on a third time, but nothing appeared on the screen, so I held the power button to turn it off.
After waiting a minute or so, I turned it back on, loaded up windows, and loaded my game up again, and after about ten minutes, it shut down again.
This is really frustrating, and I don't believe it should be happening.
If anyone can offer any help/advice, I would *really* appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello
I agree with Ross. It sounds like overheating issue. It is typical behavior when notebook hardware comes to critical temperature level. To avoid hardware damage notebook switches off without any warning.
When you use your notebook be sure the notebook cooling fans are not blocked and the notebook can be cooled properly. If you use your notebook intensively and for log time maybe is time for cleaning. You cannot imagine how many dust come inside of notebook.

  • SATELLITE P205D-S8804 ; FREEZING AND SHUTTING DOWN ON ITS OWN CONSTANTLY

This  has been a wonderful piece of technology for the first 2  1/2  years. Around this time last year it started to freeze and shut off ( a couple of times a day).  So I went out and got a cooling pad . That stopped it from shutting off but it continued to freeze up. Also, tried re-installing the software. Now it is to the point that I didn't think I could get this message out before it happens again .  H E L P   ME   PLEASE   .........

That's good, because we can make experiments. What happens after you boot this way?
    1. Into Safe Mode.

    2. Normally into another account. Create one if necessary.

  • Toshiba Satellite P205 S7454

    I bought a Tosh P205 S7454 about 18 months ago.
It works really well, except that periodically - maybe twice a week - the screen goes grey and it hangs. I have to restart it and it reboots.
I have two questions - does anyone know why this model isn't listed on the Toshiba website, and has anyone else experienced this problem?
I've seen some posts on other forums with people referring to something similar, and some people reckon it's a BIOS issue - my BIOS is version 1.00.
Should I update the BIOS, and how do I do it my PC doesn't exist according to Toshiba?

Your MODEL IS ACTUALLY  P205D-S7454.  That concern is RESOLVED!
Bios update could resolve, but not necessarily, to many issues can be incurred. Have you done a video card driver udate reently? Or, you could deinstall the display device and reboot, let new hardware wizard reinstall device.  When the error occurs do you check the Device Manager for any errors identified?  Is there external usb devices istalled, remove and learn what occurs about this concern.

  • Power supply is missing for Satellite P205D-S7474 but have a question...

... I have other Power Supplies that can give the right voltage but after trying to find a photo of the original P/S to check the voltage polarity and plug by diferent means I've failed in doing so. That's the reason for asking here for help. Any site link with the correct info or photo generated and posted here by any user will do. Thanks in advance for any help with this issue. PS. A few times tried to specify the model and/or serial # for the laptop at the Toshiba site but always got a message stating that there was an error in the supplied info. ???

  • Where can I get the Vista Recovery disk - Satellite P205D-S8802

    Hey Guys,
I bought my Toshiba Satellite P205D-S8802 last year
I got it without a Recorvy CD but if I want to formation the HDD i need the disk
Where can i get the Disk?
I have the orginal Windows Vista home premium(on the buttom of the laptop is a label from Microsoft)
    Thank you for help

There are two ways to solve your problem:
You can order new copy of recovery DVD by nearest authorized service provider or
You can use original Microsoft installations DVD for clean Vista installation
All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page.
BTW: MasterG is right about activation key at the bottom. This key belongs to preinstalled version you got with your notebook.

  • Satellite P205D-S7802 - DVD drive shows as D: and the CD shows as C

I have a Satellite P205D-S7802. The DVD drive shows as D: and the CD shows as C: Should both be D?
Neither works but the DVD was the last to do so.
If they should both be D: how do I change it?
My system is Vista 32 bit.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi mate
In my Computer you should see the HDD and CD /DVD drive.
Usually the HDD or the partition of the HDD is listed as C and the CD/DVD drive should be listed as D or other letter.
Everything depends on partition created on the HDD because every partition is assigned to an certain letter.
However, the letters can be changed in disk management of Windows OS.
Right click on My Computer -> manage -> disk management
Here you can change the letters.
    Regarding the CD/DVD drive:
I recommend removing the CD/DVD drive from the device manager list.
Simple delete it and reboot the unit.
After new reboot, then OS should recognize the ODD again

  • Streaming audio stops on Satellite P205D-S7438

Everytime I try to play streaming audio, it comes on and plays fine from the embedded Windows media player, but stops at 20 seconds.  It doesn't matter if it is streaming live or if the file has been archived.  If I try to play it from the external player option, the player opens but nothing happens...won't even play the 20 seconds.  I am running Vista Home Premium.  I have checked some other forums and have reset the internet connections options and have it set to auto proxy under the internet connection settings.  Any suggestions?  I did see where someone else with the same computer had had the same problem, so I wondered if it was related to something on this particular computer model??  Any help would be appreciated.
Just so you know, the website I've been trying to access the streaming audio from is at
    http://www.nhsbn.com/broadcasts/index.cfm?fuseaction=affilbrd&broadcasterid=154&Org=nhsbn&CFID=94522...
I don't think that makes any difference though...I've had the same problem trying to stream video from a college sports site.  Also, the above link works fine for a different model of Toshiba Satellite in the house.

ADDED information:You might not have a correct version of Windows Media Player installed. Microsoft's Media Player is Version 11.  Depending on which version of Windows you are running, you should make sure you upgrade to Version 11, at the very least to utilize.
You can determine your Windows Media Player version by starting the player from the Windows "Start" button, and then clicking Windows Media Player from the program listing.  Then click "Help" and "About" from the menu.
With Windows Media Player, occasionally the player does not automatically download the necessary codecs for the broadcast. In order to fix this, you must set Windows Media Player to " automatically download codecs".
Open the Windows Media Player from the start menu.  Click "Tools/Options/Player", and make sure that the box, "Download Codecs Automatically", is checked. Restart Windows Media Player, and attempt to open the broadcast again.

  • Satellite P205D - Does line-in port accept vcr signal

Help with video import P205D, will line-in accept vcr signal? Trying to import video to burn to dvd.
Did not realize i was such a newbie.

*probman*, I have P205. The laptop does not have any line-in video port.
The only suggestion - buy yourself external TV-tuner, BUT with line in and *capture* feature. You can not change the direction of the signal of the built-in video port.
P.S. Yes!!! I have a suggestion for you! Start your VCR, put the laptop face to face to your TV and capture the video from TV screen to the webcam of the laptop. It will work! :)
    Just a joke

  • Satellite P205D-S7802: CD/DVD drive issue; driver corrupted or missing

    Hi,
Dvd unit has not recognized by the OS.
When i open My Computer the only unit displayed is C, there's no D unit.
Then I go to device manager to check it, and I notice that the DVD unit has problems, then i open properties and the error message is:
"HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GSAT20N ATA DEVICE
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing".
First i thought that was a hardware problem, but I introduced the windows vista disc at boot and the unit read it very well. Then I choose update driver from device manager and the updater told me that the best driver was already installed for the device.
I tried to replace the .sys and .info files for cd-roms but nothing happened either.
What is happening, please help, is urgent i need to use my dvd unit.
    Regards.

    Try this:
remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager list
access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
This is described also here in the MS knowledge base article:

  • P205D-S7438 rest to Factory condition

Hi Folks, I have a P205D-S7438 Laptop and I decided to reset my laptop back to a factory condition.
However, I first formatted the C: drive thinking I could use the recovery CD of Vista but I get an error when using that option and won't install. I have tried holding down all sorts of keys on boot up but can't find an option that invokes the partition where the factory install sits. Seems to be X:\
I have now thought about finding a full install disk to just install Vista and not worry about all the other Toshiba stuff. I obviously can't do a repair because there isn't anything on my drive. Any ideas?
    thanks in advance.

I would order the recovery discs.

  • Satellite P200D-12O - motherboard number?

    Hello,
The motherboard in my laptop has died, so I need a replacement. I noticed there are two different motherboards available for P200D: K000056190 and K000055940. What is the difference?

    Hi
I found out that the K000055940 motherbaord was released for Satellite P205D series.
The K000056190 for the P200D but since both series are the same (P205D in USA and P200D EU market) I think that both motherboards are compatible too.
