Satellite P30-109 doesn't run at power when AC adaptor is connected

When I unplug of the charger from the socket he goes automatically to battery: until now nothing wrong with it;
The point is that when I the plug back the charger in the socket he remains on the battery till when, after approximately 20 minutes with the high performance plan, begins to "pip" (battery less then 10%) and goes in "coma".
Normal discussed it should automatically go on net power and fill up the battery
Just after I shut it down, I disconnect the battery and connect it again then it begins to charge again.
The battery is not new, usage level according to Everest 65%; he lasts approximately 20 minutes on this moment for me more than enough. I just need to displace the pc from one room to the other for a presentation.
Even if I'd not use the battery I'd still have an issue: the plug to the rear side of the notebook is not really tight: sometimes it looses contact: without battery it'd abruptlly switch off.

If hardware is not defective something like this should not happen. You can disconnect AC power supply 100 times a day but every time if the notebook is connected to AC power supply again the battery should be charged.
I can really not say what is wrong there but it can be some power supply electronic issue. It seems to be that this electronic is somehow confused. Sorry but just exact test by service can give more answers.

  • Vertical dashed lines and bad shading on Satellite P30-109

    Hi
    Sorry for my bad English,
I have a TFT problem on my Satellite P30-109.
Regular vertical dashed lines and bad shading.
I have formatted the hard-disk with the recover-disk but nothing changed.
An irregular visualization is present while windows is starting.
    What can it be?
Have you any suggestion? I have to discard my PC?
    Thanks for your help.
    Stefano

Can you connect your Laptop to an external screen?
If the lines will appear there too, then it might be a broken Graphics card.
If there are no lines on your externel screen, then your TFT screen might need replacement.
Either way, it'll need service from a Toshiba service center.
Is it more like this: http://www.laptoprepairguy.com/wp-images/reddish-screen.jpg

  • Satellite P30-109 Notebook suddenly turns off

    Hi
I have a P30-109 Notebook. When I run heavy applications or something, it suddenly turns off... When I turn it on again, everything's all right. But then it can happen all over again any time. Anyone knows what to do please?!?

    Hello guys
I agree with you, David. It could be a overheating issue. Sometimes if the cooling ventilators cant work properly the temperature increase to the critical limit and the notebook shuts down. This is a overheating protection.
I suggest to check the ventilators and to clean it with a vacuum cleaner.

  • Satellite P30: it doesn't recognise DVD discs correctly

Hello I have a Satellite P30, I am unable to read DVD's or CD when I try to open the DVD or CD the explorer session seems to hang for a while then comes up with a blank DVD-RAM Drive screen with the option on the left to write files to CD. I have installed the latest drivers and BIOS for my Laptop.
I'm at a loss, all was working fine till recently the PC does'nt seem to recognise I have a cd drive or normalDVD drive it just see's it as a DVD RAM drive.
when I put a dvd in the light on the side flashes orange and the system just hangs for a while .I sometimes get an I/O error when trying to read from a cd. What ever I put in it thinks i want to write files

The matsu****a UJ-830s is about as sketchy as dvd drives come. Mine flat out refuses to read, or write for that matter about 90% of the media I've tried in it. I find the only disks it will write are the Taiyo Yuden 16x or 8x media, rebranded as sony. They're the ones with the octagonal foam spacer at the top of the 50 or 25 pack, rather than the round spacer.
It isn't any concern that it shows up as a DVD-RAM drive, as that is what it always does anyway. I highly recommend if you can't get it working, to purchase an external burner, and forget about the one onboard.
    Good luck.

  • Windows 8.1 doesn't start Camera Window when Canon SX110IS is connected

When my Canon SX110IS is connected and turned on, Device Manager shows the camera as a connected Portable Device; and clicking Start/Control Panel/AutoPlay/Devices lists the Canon SX110IS and shows "Downloads Images from Canon Camera (Canon CameraWIndow)" as the action to take when camera is connected; however, when the camera is connected and turned on, Windows 8.1 doesn't start the CameraWindow program.

Solution: I thought that setting preferences using Windows 8.1 Control Panel / AutoPlay would make those actions happen.  NOT SO!  You MUST ALSO click to select "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" at the top of the AutoPlay window.  When you have your preferences set for your Media Card and your Canon Camera, AND have that also selected, the preferred actions you chose WILL take place when you either connect your camera to your computer via USB cable and turn the camera on, or insert your SD card in your computer.
In answer to why I connect via USB cable rather than inserting the SD card, it takes the same time for me to open the AV door and connect a USB cable between the camera and the computer as it does to open the battery door, remove the SD card, and insert it in the computer.  So I guess it just depends on which mode you prefer to use.

  • My macbook pro doesn't charge or operate when the battery is connected. When I remove it, it works fine only with the charger only

My laptop is a macbook pro 13 (mid 2010).  When the battery is connected on it, the light of the magsafe adapter does not turn on, and the laptop neither. I shall note that the computer was operating normally before the battery was totally empty. I removed the battery and it operates normally. When I put it back, it's again dead, neither charges the battery, nor starts up.
What do you think is the problem about?

Thanks for your response! Resetting the SMC does not change anything.
More information: I used another MagSafe charger and it worked with the battery connected, like nothing happened. I run the apple hardware test and it showed that everything is ok! I would replace my MagSafe adapter, but except that it works fine without the battery, it also works fine on another macbook pro. I am confused! Any more advice please??

  • Satellite A110-260 doesn't run after RAM upgrade

    A110-260 - 512 MB Ram - 533 MHZ - 100GB - BIOS V1.20 (2 years old)
    Hello,
my first attempt to upgrade my RAM failed.
After correct installation of 2 Kingston 1GB Ram (Typ: RMN 2-.800/1GB SO-Dimm DDR 2), my notebook didn't start again, only 5 short sounds (in owners manual: not the right extended memory).
Curios: 1 Kingston 1 GB-Ram mixed with original Toshiba 512 MB-Ram, the notebook boots, but reaches only 896 MB extended memory. Performance not signifikant better.
    Who can help me ?
    Andi11

Is that Kingston memory 800MHz? That laptop is designed for 533MHz Memory (PC4200). Usually the 800MHz Memory will bump down to 533MHz (probably using the SPD table), but there may be a compatibility problem.
So ultimately you should buy 533MHz DDR2 Memory with similar CAS/RAS Timing as the original Toshiba Memory.
Perhaps the second RAM slot is faulty? If you run CPU-Z, can it detect the second module correctly?
Note that the Graphics card may use some System Memory as Video Memory, so it sounds like the laptop sees the 1GB Module but reserved 96MB for the graphics.

  • Satellite Pro U200: VGA output not working properly when AC adapter was connected

    Hi,
I have a problem with vga output. When I'm working on battery and connect my notebook to external monitor it's ok, but when I connect AC adaptor then start waving also bluetooth and wlan does not work properly. In other case when I remove battery from notebook and connect AC adaptor it works properly.
    thanks in advance

As long as you use a CRT you should set the refresh rate new, at least 85Hz. Standard is 60Hz as far as I know, and that hurts in your eyes.
The wireless lan behaviour is quite normal as long as your not right next to the access point. On battery power the wireless lan card reduces its energy consumption thus the connection will be poor if you dont have a perfect signal. You can turn this off in the iNTEL Pro/SET wireless software, where you can configure the adaptor. Try to change the powersafe mode to manual and full power, this should solve your problem.

  • Satellite P30: Power Saving does not work properly

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite P30 (with Windows XP) and I'm having problems with my Power Saving mode. When I use it for games and other high power applications it gets really hot on the edge of the moitor and shuts down.
It is been doing this for the last month or so. Before that there was absolutelly no problem. I've checked the TPSTrace file and got this error message:
A Fatal error has occurred. This program will be terminated. code: 0x0 Location:MainFrm.cpp(1317)
I don not know what to do with it and how to solve the problem. Any ideas?

    Hi Thomas
It is not easy to give you any precise diagnostic but in my opinion your notebook is not hot because of power saver. Satellite P30 is pretty old notebook and maybe you should clean up your notebook.
    Have you done this before?
This error seems to be serious and what you can do is to remove preinstalled power saver and after restart try to install it again.
Just for info: power saver tool is very useful but definitely not so important and your system can work well without it. Because of that I presume hot notebook is because of dust inside. With more CPU and graphic card activity hardware will be hot and it must be cooled properly. If the cooling grill is not clean this can not happen. at the beginning notebook will be hot but one day it will probably switch off without any warning.
At first step try to clean your notebook and remove all dust under cooling grill.

  • Satellite C55-A doesn't work on battery power

    HI
    I HAVE AN TOSHIBA SATELLITE C55A (PSCG8E).
AFTER BATTERY FULLY CHARGED WHEN I UNPLUG THE AC ADAPTER THE COMPUTER SHUTDOWN.
I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE BATTERY AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
ANY UPDATE OF THE BIOS FOR THIS PROBLEM ?

    Hi
It looks like the battery shows you that its fully charged but indeed its not.
Its looks strange to me that the same issue appears using new battery.
However, since the Satellite C55-A series is new on the market and warranty is valid, I recommend contacting the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country to check the battery and other notebook hardware.
I assume you will need another, new battery but this should be done free of charge

  • Windows XP Home unable to boot on Satellite P30

    Hello
    I've been using WinXP-H on a (7yr-old) Satellite P30.
The screen died a while back so I've been using an external monitor, but that's an issue for another time.
A few days ago Windows was updating. After about 4hours, it restarted by itself - not sure if it finished updating as I was away from my desk. Windows didn't boot, just hung on the black WinXp start screen.
I turned it off with the power button, left it for a while and tried to reboot. The first few times I was able to reach the 'Safe Mode, Last Known Good Config etc' screen with F8, but it only got to Windows once, where it froze.
Now on startup, only the F2 & F12 buttons work (for blue BIOS screen and Boot options). Trying to boot from the HD results in some not normal clicking noises then the "a disk error occurred. CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart" message. I tried using the Toshiba Recovery Disk, but it seems that'll wipe the files left on the HD, even if it manages to reinstall Windows.
I'd backed up most of my files, but there are some I hadn't managed to yet, so would like to try to keep them. From the forums it seems there are several possible solutions:
    1. Boot from the Toshiba Recovery Disc to format the HD, and maybe recover some of the files later with File Recovery software.
    2. Get a WinXP-H installation disc, which seems to have a Recovery program.
    3. Remove the HD and connect it to another computer to remove my files. I'm not experienced in taking computers apart, but would give it a go if it was the best option.
    Cheers, any advice appreciated.
    Al

Yeah, it's a great machine. At least when it's working...
I'll have a go at connecting the HDD as an external. In the meantime, I tried running the Toshiba Recovery disc, and it got to about 5% (allocating NTFS) before stopping with 'Error 29004 Uncorrectable data error'.
It seems even more likely that the HDD has a physical problem (especially since it started making clicking noises...). After the Recovery thing stopped, I tried running chkdsk, but no luck:
    X:\>c:\
    C:\>chkdsk /r
    Bad command or filename
    C:\>chkdsk c: /r
    Bad command or filename
    etc
    Is that the correct command?

  • Satellite P30 - Blue screen after reinstall OS

I just reinstall OS (Windows XP) on my older laptop Toshiba Satellite P30, but after first reboot (required to continue XP configuration) the DOS blue screen appear (System Has Recovered From Serious Error).
The laptop cannot load Windows XP at all. Do you have some idea whats going on ?
    Thanks :)

    Hi,
This looks like a hardware issue. You should check the HDD and RAM.
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test you can test your HDD. Download the CD image, burn it on a CD and boot from it. Then you can the HDD.
On the same website is a user guide if you want to know more.
    http://memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. There you can also download a CD image.
Its easy to use. Run the test 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.
    Good luck!
    Bye

  • Can i install a wireless card in my Satellite P30-141 's wireless bay?

The P30-141 doesn't come with wireless functionality and i can't track any wireless antennae cables which should reside within the top casing of the machine, but i'd like to know if it's possible to undertake my own installation of a toshiba wireless card? Would anyone out there know of a specific wireless card model / part number which could be used to do this? I'm quiet happy to tinker around inside the machine as it's four years past the warranty i believe and i've already replaced the LCD once, so i'm pretty familiar with the guts of it, just can't find any documentation on getting this component into this particular machine.
Any advice would be a great help!

    Hi Simon,
Sure if you have the relevant PC slot inside, i'm checking a P30 - 131 (which i can't even find in the db here, think its foreign spec but a uk board) for one after telling my client it was easy. If you peek under the keyboard you can see a wire trench running from where the screen cable comes in to the main body. If its empty you need to fit the antenna cable, if present awesome just put in the relevant wireless card and clip on the antenna plugs. If the wires aren't present, simples.
They're quite cheap on everyones favourite auction site, you just need to get in under the screen bezel/surround and lay them down. They lay around the screen itself under the bezel. You'll find simple pictorials not necessarily for your specific laptop but they are mostly the same. Then bnring them through and lay them through the trench under the keyboard and clip into the wireless card. Well obviously you now have to set up the relevant drivers, curse a few times as it doesn't connect, wonder furiously at what is going wrong and then bing it'll suddenly connect although you've done nothing different over the past couple of days.......... The biggest issue you'll find is not to damage your bezel.
Anyway good luck, i'm gonna now try to work out if this model (see above) will do this.
