Satellite P300-1CN - How to get replacemant?

About two weeks ago I have started a thread on this forum. [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=56949&tstart=15] Below the main post:
+My laptop started switching itself off every time I put it away for a couple of minutes, closing a lid and then trying to open it again. It used to happen few times a month but now it got worse. Now while it is on, every time I close a lid and then I try to open it again it makes funny noise (like the power supply has been suddenly cut off) and it switches itself off. It wont re start with the on/off button. Each time I have to remove the battery and unplug the power source first, before it eventually turns on, resuming the system and asking if I want to recover my unsaved data.+
+I have tried tho close and open the lid while using Windows 7 and Windows XP, exactly the same thing happens on both what makes me think that there may be some mechanical fault.+
Laptop was sent for repair. After 8 days came back and was looking all good - motherboard was replaced. Unfortunately after only 5 days it happened again. I contacted the repair center, and have sent the laptop again for repair.
Just wondering how many times it have to be send for repair to get replacement ?? It third time now. To be fair its quite annoying, and because the warranty is due to expire on 18 Nov 2010, I'm little bit worried about it. Who should I contact about it?

As far as I know every Toshiba service provider sell such warranty extensions.
Anyway, check Toshiba page about warranty under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Peripherals & Services > Standard Warranty.
On the right side you will see menu with option Warranty extension. Click on it and check page about International warranty extension.
There you can option Where to buy.

Satellite P300 1CN blue & blank screen

Hi,
I was working away on an excel sheet on my toshiba satellite p300-1cn yesterday evening. After an hour or so I left the notebook on the table and went to prepare dinner. 30mins later when i returned to the notebook the screen was black which i though odd as my picture slide show kicks in after 15 mins. I tried pressing keys and mouse to 'wake' the screen back up but no luck.
Since then my laptop screen will not come on.I hooked up an external monitor and got a display. I then clicked start in 'normal mode' as I was asked. Unfortunately it then proceeded to blue screen and restart. I tried safe mode and got in. I ran a chkdsk but nothing showed up. I tried a recovery to previous date but alas no luck. I disabled the ATI graphics card and tried to restart and again nothing. Still works with external monitor but only in safe mode.
Can anyone help me?
My bios was update by toshiba in January so it's up to date.
I have windows 7 32bit if that matters?

Satellite P300-1CN - System and BIOS does not boot

I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite P300-1CN . When I start up my laptop won't boot to Windows.
When I tried to get to BIOS, won't let me do this as well. I can see only the Toshiba logo. When I press F2 or F12 I got message:
+Entering setup. Please Wait+ or
+Entering MultiBoot Selection Menu. Please Wait+
I tried +ESC+ + +Power Buton+ and after that +F1+ key. I can see all information:

but after that the laptop just freeze but processor is still running.
I removed the HDD and tried put different one (from working laptop) - still not working

Sounds like a hardware issue...
You could try to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor. Wait one hour and then connect both devices again.
If it doesnt work you need professional help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and tell you what part must be replaced.

Satellite P300-1CN - Video Blur and dull

Hi,
I just got my new P300-1CN with Vista installed. but I am disappointed with quality of vide with big 17 inch screen.
When I play live TV from say tvunetworks.com for example, picture is blur and I can see the shadows, and it is not sharp, have difficulty in viewing the video clearly. I checked playing DVD image stored on my external harddrive by installing Divx player and it is same...picture quality is dull. I played same video on my previous laptop (from another manufacture 3.5 years old) and it is crystal clear and bright. And by the way I used to watching livetv from same site on my laptop from another manufacture and it is crystal clear.
I dont know what is the problem, tried changing colour settings, refresh rate and all. But no use.
Can anybody help to understand what is the problem and how to fix it.

Can you please let me know whether this is general problem with LED WXGA+ TFT screens?.....I need to decide whether to buy another laptop of same type or not as I have returned my laptop now.
basically problem is
When I play Live Video from any video site...video seems to have shadows and can see gray areas and blur video. Video is not sharp and bright as compared to my old laptop (4 years old). Pictures are fine, I have also seen some HD video clip downloaded from Internet and that seems to be fine...But since I use my laptop mostly for watching live tv and videos online, it is not useful for me with this problem. I have tried all the ATI Control Center settings, with settings changed there seems to have been improvement in color quality but not the problem video blur and shadow. Problem also exists when stored DVD file played from external harddisk. Tried all the video players like real, windows, divx and VLC.

Satellite P300-19P - How to change from NTSC to PAL?

Everytime I want to display on my TV I have to change the TV from PAL to NTSC as I can't find how to change the S-Video output on the laptop from NTSC to PAL.
Does anyone know how to?

Hey,
Im not owner of Satellite P300 but either you can change this option in BIOS or in display driver. Normally there you have an option to change between PAL and NTSC on S-Video output.

Satellite 1130-Z24,how to get service manual

Does anybody know how I can get hold of instructions on dismantling this laptop, or an service manual. I suspect my motherboard is damaged, as it was recently dropped and now does not power up, although when connected to the AC supply, the light on the front come on, indicating power is getting to it. I wonder if it could be the power button thats damaged??

In my opinion its not so easy to dismantle the unit because there are many little electronic parts on the board and you must be an expert to find the malfunction.
In this case you should ask the service partner for more detailed descriptions.
Nevertheless I found only a user manual for this machine. You can find it on the Toshiba website.

Satellite P300-156 - How can I clean it?

I won't clean my laptop inside, but I don't now what screws I must remowe.
If someone take the back cover from any P300 to cleaning the fans, maybe will send me any picture or instruction, what I must doing step by step.

If you want to clean the fan you must disassemble the notebook. This is not necessary.
You can use compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
Such compressed air spray you can get from a local computer dealer.

Satellite L450D 11X - How to get WLAN working again?

Hello,
I've recently had problems with my 4 year old L450D 11X machine with everything slowing up.
I seem to have sorted this problem by reinstalling Windows 7.
Now I can only get access to broadband via an Ethernet cable. I've downloaded the Realtek RTL802E/8103 Drivers and run them to see if that will solve the problem, but it didn't work.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions to how I can get the wireless connection back.

I managed to get it working again after downloading a further Realtek Driver which was highlighted as missing in one of the systems files.
I had tried the F8 key before but with no luck.
I had had a problem with the machine for a couple of months and had restored factory settings a couple of times, but it kept slowing up.
So I then got hold of another copy of the Windows 7 and that so far has worked except for the problem with the broadband access.

Satellite P300-150 PSPC4E: Cannot get Express Card slot working with XP

Hello.
I have downgraded to XP on my machine and unfortunetly I am unable to get the Express card slot to work.
The Intel chipset drivers on the Toshiba site haven't dont anything.
I am trying to get an eSata port working via the express card like I did with Vista but no joy at all.
Any ideas?

Go to Device Manager and check if the express card is installed properly, or if its reporting an error.
You should update the BIOS to the latest version. BIOS updates can sometimes fix problems like this.
And ensure you have XP Service Pack 2 or 3 installed.

Satellite L775-13D: How to get full screen playing Blu-ray on TV

Hello,
I want to play bluray DVDs direct from my laptop to my LG 42inch plasma. I can connect via HDMI but a small portion of the sides and bottom are cut off on the TV. How do I make the image play on my TV without any quality loss as if I had a bluray player connected to my TV? Hope someone can help

Try to setup the output only to TV and check if the external resolution is set to the same resolution which is supported by TV. I assume the TV supports the full HD resolution which is: 1920x1080px

Satellite A500-17X: How to get new backlight keyboard to work?

Hi there
I recently had to replace the keyboard on my A500-17X (PSAR3E-00N005EN) and I decided to replace it with the backlit model of the same keyboard. The original keyboard wasn't backlit but I thought i'd give it a go anyway as it was the same price.
I installed it into my laptop and everything is working fine apart from the backlight function.
There was even a port for the power ribbon to go into so it is definately installed properly. I read on other forums that it is sometimes an issue with the BIOS or HWsetup but my BIOS doesn't give me the option for it and neither does HWsetup.
I was just wondering whether there is a way of getting the backlight to work on the keyboard.
Perhaps a different driver or changing the BIOS/HWsetup somehow?
Would appreciate any answers!

I believe there is no way to activate the backlight through drivers or BIOS settings. You may need to send the notebook to a Toshiba Repair center to get it activated.

Satellite A205-S5880 - How to get back the FN+F8 key function

Hello.
I have a problem with the HWSetup utility. The problem is that, when i press FN in the keyboard, that bar at the top shows up right, and there i use the F keys to use any of the options listed there.
Well the problem is that just a while ago i had the option for the WLAN, to turn it off or on. But well a while ago i was checking something with the WLAN driver and uninstalled it and installed it again, but then i guess that caused the WLAN option in the FN keys at the top bar to disappear.
It was in F8 but now I no longer have a F8 in the bar, and i don't know how to bring it back and I need it so if please someone could tell me how to bring it back?
And I use Windows Vista Home Premium btw, 32 bit

I re-installed it and still isn't there.
the driver shows up in the device manager and i click update driver just in case but it says mine is up date
i think i let the laptop install itself the driver
but the site i download the drivers from is from www.csd.toshiba.com
cause i think in www.toshiba.com they don't have drivers

Bios: Latest v5.10
Problems:
1. Internet Explorer button launches IE correctly when logged in, but if pressed when machine is off, the machine is powered on and Vista boots normally, but IE is not launched as expected after boot is complete.
2. Windows Media Player button does not launch Windows Media Player as expected when logged in under Vista.
Tried all registry edits detailed at: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/firmware/hotstart.mspx but no success.
Device manager reports three unknown devices (two ACPI PNPC032: these are the HotStart buttons--HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0C32\ and one ACPI\TOS1901 with yellow exclammation mark and missing driver--Toshiba Firmware Linkage Driver?).

Thanks. Yes, installing VAP turned off one of the two yellow exclammation marks. The two 'unknowns' (HotStart - no driver needed) and the one yellow exclammation I have reported in my original message are the status after installing VAP. VAP's 'Toshiba Button Support' utility doesn't work. Also HWSetup is not included.

How can I get a recovery disk for Satellite P300-1CI?

first, sorry for my english, I'm a belgian and I speak french.
Yesterday I bought a toshiba Satellite P300-1CI, when I started, I must installed Vista home.
I would like to format my disk and reinstall my old Windows XP.
My question is : How can keep an image disk with Vista? I don't have an installation disk of Vista and don't know my registration key of it.
How can I have a recovery disk ?

User manual is really interesting document and in most cases it answer all you questions ;)
Anyway, the Toshiba recovery disk should be created before you would format and install on the HDD.
You have to use the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator application in order to create the Recovery DVD.
Now to you other question;
The Vista image which is preinstalled and placed on the Recovery disk (after recovery disk has been created) is activated already and you dont need to insert any keys or activate anything.

How to setup FireWire in a local network on my Satellite P300 -17S

On my Satellite P300 -17S, I can't get my Firewire set up in a local network.
Checking the device everything seems to work well, but Vista does not give me any possibility to set up the local network using the cable between 2 computers.
Can anyone tell me how to go about this?
