Satellite P300-20H - Second HDD caddy

Satellite P300-20H, PSPC8E
This laptop has a second HDD bay and a second drive works in the bay.
I have tried in vain to find a HDD caddie for the second HDD bay, can anyone point me in the right direction for the part number or a shop that sells them.
Thanks

I have upgraded brothers P300 with second HDD but I didnt use HDD bay. I have just fixed second HDD to stay in the same position with piece of plastic so that HDD will stay in place.
You can also contact Toshiba service and ask for help. I am pretty sure they have such HDD bays used before and can imagine you can get one.
Visit also eBay/notebooks and check for Toshiba hard drive caddy. I saw several bays there.

  • Satellite P300-01S: Second HDD cover will not fit back on

    Hi,
I have a P300-01S (Canada). There is a second drive bay, including the sata/power connectors.
I've installed a second hard drive (64gb SSD), and it works just fine.
However, the cover for the drive bay will not fit back on. The cover has 5 pegs that prevent it from being put back on if a drive is in the bay. I believe the pegs are there to provide support to the cover when no drive is in there.
I see no way to remove these other then to snap them off. Any ideas?
These are not the normal tabs on the edges that are used to hold the cover in place, these are 1/2" long cylindrical pegs in the middle of the drive bay cover.

I would hav preferred not to cut anything either, but I couldn't find a part# online to order a cover without the pegs. I am sure there are some P300's (maybe Satelitte Pro P300's) out there that do list the 2nd drive bay as a feature, so they must have a cover without those pegs, but I couldn't find it.
It's working, pegs are cut off so the door fits on now. SSD is working well too.

  • Satellite A200-27R - Second HDD possible?

    Hi buddy,
The question is: Do you have a second HDD connector?
If yes you can buy such a second HDD caddy from an authorized service provider.
Otherwise its not possible to a add a second HDD.

  • Re: Satellite P300-20h - Is second HDD possible?

    Hi,
I have a p300-20h. On the underside there seems to be a space for a second hd.
The underside of the cover for the second hd has sticks that stop me from installing the second hd.
Is this to deter the installation of a second hd?

    Macius,
Thanks for your response. I have the hard drive connectors. The problem is that when I have a drive in place I cannot close the cover because of the cover extensions. Did your brother purchase another cover or did he saw off the extensions? Thanks.

  • Satellite P300-20H - HHD upgrade to 1 TByte

    Dear All,
I would like to upgrade my internal hard drive from 250 Gbyte to 1 Tbyte.
The 1 Terabyte hard drive have the following specifications:
    Capacity - 1 TB
    Interface type - Serial ATA-300
Data transfer rate - 300 MBps
    Spindle speed - 5,400 rpm
    Buffer size - 8 MB
    Model is: Toshiba MQ01ABD100 1TB SATA 3GB/s 5400RPM 2.5 Inch 9.5mm Internal Hard Drive
Laptop - Before upgrading, what are the considerations do I have to make?
    (1) BIOS changes required? After upgrading
    (2) Current hard drive contents
    (3) Boot Disk
    (4) How do I copy the orginal and format the new hard drive with the licensed operating system VIsta Home Premium edition 32 bit onto my new hard drive.
    (5) Installing new hard drive once points 1 and 4 have been taken into account and acted on.
    Please advise.
    K regards
    Reynold

    Hello Reynold
Satellite P300 is well known to me and I had it long time ago. At this time I used it with original HDD and 1TB HDD was not available on the market. On my P300 I had possibility to use second HDD so I was happy with two HDDs inside. I used second HDD for data back-up only.
Has your P300 connector for second HDD?
I cannot say for sure but I think such upgrade should not be problematic and new HDD will be recognized properly.
Here is my answer to your questions:
    > (1) BIOS changes required? After upgrading
I think Toshiba doesn't offer some newer BIOS update for this old machine so, in my opinion, BIOS update is completely irrelevant and will not change anything.
    > (2) Current hard drive contents
After removing this original HDD you can use it as second HDD (if possible) or as external HDD for data back-up. What you will do with the content is your decision.
    > (3) Boot Disk
I don't know what do you think with boot disk but before you start to change anything create original recovery Vista installation discs. These recovery discs you can use to install original Vista version on new HDD.
Have you already created such recovery discs?
One more thing: at this time 1TB HDD was not available on the market and I really don't know how recovery image installation will work on such HDD. I hope without problems.
    > (4) How do I copy the orginal and format the new hard drive with the licensed operating system VIsta Home Premium edition 32 bit onto my new hard drive.
As I already wrote you have option to create recovery disc and use them for clean Vista installation on new HDD. Using this discs you will have machine with factory settings again.
    > (5) Installing new hard drive once points 1 and 4 have been taken into account and acted on.
Unfortunately I don't understand what do you mean exactly.
Please note: when you use recovery discs you will have the same situation as you had on first start after purchase. With other words, you must install all favourite applications additionally.
There is also possibility to create recovery image of your actual OS and actual configuration but for doing this you need some third part applications like Acronis true image.

  • Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 second HDD question

I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 (http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/P870/P875-S7310/) and was hoping to install a second hard drive (SSD) to improve load times and boot times. As I understand it is rather wasy to install a second SSD into the P875-S7102, as it has a second hard drive bay, but I'm unsure about the P875-S7310.  Technical support hasn't been of much help to me so I figured the second place to ask would be here. Does the Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 also have a second HDD bay or will I need to do something like remove the DVD drive and buy a HDD caddy to install a SSD into this laptop?
Thanks a ton if you can provide me with any information,
    Nianni150

The problem with those spec sheets is that they don't list the P875-S7102 as having a second hard drive buy, but in in fact does. It also seems to be compatible with whatever the bios firmware is and allows a SSD to be run seperately.
For reference here is the second hard drive bay for the P875-S7102 that was confirmed on this forum to function. I've attached a picture of the back of the P875-S7102 I've ordered which seems to have the same configuration. I guess my question is if anyone knows whether or not the BIOS supports a secondary hard drive and if there is a SATA connection. I was hoping to buy the SSD now and have it arrive at the same time as the laptop. but I'm hesitant to do that since I'm unsure whether it will work or not.

  • Satellite P200/300 - Second HDD bay has no connector!

I became happy when i noticed 2nd hdd bay. But There's no sata connector available! Just some solders on the mainboard.
    If i solder a SATA CONNECTOR just like this;

    it will work or not?

    Hi
    >I became happy when i noticed 2nd hdd bay. But there's no sata connector available!
This is a little bit confused am I right? ;)
The point is that not all P200 can be upgraded with the second HDD even if the second HDD bay is available.
The different P200 are equipped with different motherboards and not all are mobos supports 2 HDD controllers
Your notebook seems to be equipped with the motherboard which supports only one HDD controller.

  • Satellite P300-20H - AC adapter is dead

    Hello
My ac adapter doe not seem to work..it does not get warm, it is not powering up my computer, which has run out of juice completely and now cannot be switched on. I had altered my power settings so that I would always have a fair amount of battery power left, but now nothing.
Do these ac adapters die? I have had it for around 3 years.
Do I have to buy another adapter? Can I fix this one?
    Thanks in advance
    Annie

You cannot fix it. Order new one. On AC adapter you will find sticker with part number (PAxxxxxx) so please order exact the same model. It must be 19V AC adapter.
You can also buy one on eBay. I found also one for my old Satellite P20 and it costs few euros only.

  • Satellite L670-1CN - Second HDD possible?

    Hi,
is it possible to add a second hard drive on the L670-1CN ? I would like to buy a laptop which has this feature to put a ssd in a second bay.
    Thank you for your help.

I called toshiba support which confirmed me there was a possibility to add a second hard drive, I ask a confirmation and ask if the connectors were available and the support confirmed all of that for the entiere L670 serie.
So I bought the laptop on a web site, received it this morning. I checked the availability of this slot, which does not exist...
Thanks Toshiba support... What a pity...
I will send back the laptop and look for another laptop (and another brand I think)
    So... problem is solved :-)

  • Satellite P300 - I need the part number of the original screen

    Please can anyone help?
I need to get Toshiba part number for the original screen in my Satellite P300-20H. My laptop fell of the bed and the only way I can use it is with an external display
all else is fine with the laptop but it would be a great help if I could get the part number for the original 17" WXGA+ TruBrite.
Please feel free to email any help you have: Email:[[email protected]]
    much thanks
    Welsh_Jam

    Hello
I think nobody here can anwer your question: Its only a user to user forum and you will not find any notebook technicians here they can tell you the part number of the screen.
If you want to know it you should contact an ASP. They can order all original Toshiba parts:

  • Satellite Pro P300-26U - Can I use a second HDD?

Satellite P300 family support raid0 and double HDD. All model? User manual of 26U don't say any word about this. Model like P300-1BP has double HDD.
Can someone help me? I want to buy a P300-26U in Italy.
    Thanks.
    Guido

    Hi
The Satellite P300 series doesnt support RAID!
There is NO RAID controller on the motherboard.
But you are right; the Satellite Pro P300-BP supports 2 HDDs but this does not meant that it would support RAID!
Furthermore you should know that P300 series supports different hardware specifications.
This means that not all P300 would be able to use 2 HDDs!!!
It could be possible that Satellite Pro P300-26U is not able to use 2 HDDs even though the Satellite Pro P300-BP support 2 HDDs.

  • HDD Recovery - Satellite P300-1GQ

Is it possible to perform recovery of factory default software or recovery to out-of-box state for my laptop Satellite P300-1GQ?
Ive used Toshiba HDD Recovery Tool and it only formatted the C partition leaving the partition D unchanged. Vista is running smoothly, all data on D partition are available. I could just format the partition D but the catch is that the folder titled HDD recovery is stored on D partition. Back in 2009 when I purchased my laptop I created the HDD Recovery DVDs as instructed. I could use them and format the entire hard disk but the information I got from the support technician in my country told me that the new HDD recovery folder would not be created.
I just want to wipe the entire drive and perform fresh installation, having again HDD recovery folder on D partition of the disk, in short: as it is now. Is this possible or not?

To be honest, the difference between the recovery DVD and a recovery HDD tool was confusing. Vista ran for 2,5 years before I had to reinstall it. And that was the moment when the confusion started.
I thought recovery DVDs I made 2,5 years ago should be used if and when a recovery HDD tool fails. And I thought those two options were going to do the same thing: format the entire drive i.e. return the laptop to factory settings (Ive done this countless times with XP and I know the drill).
But I was really surprised when I saw recovery HDD tool formatting only partition C (where Vista is). I thought I made a mistake (didnt check a box or something) and ran the process again.
But no, this tool only formats C i.e. the partition where OS is.
I checked the manual and there was no reference about formatting only one partition but the entire drive itself. In fact the description for both options (recovery DVD and a recovery HDD tool) where the same.
I think they forgot to mention what happens if you have two or more partitions.
Then I called support for Toshiba (in my country) and they told me that if I use the recovery DVDs I will return the laptop to factory settings but without HDD recovery folder on D. And again I was more confused :)
So, that is the reason why I asked you the second question :)
