Satellite P300 - Touchpad freeze with AC adaptor

My english is not very good.
I can use the touchpad of my Satellite P300 only with battery. With the AC Adaptator, I have some freeze, and pointing is not possible

Hello
I'm coming back. I've bought another compatible AC Adaptator for Toshiba Satellite P300 (DLH STD-19063, 19V-6.3A).
The trouble is the same. Freeze is continuing when the AC Adaptator is plugged in.
The touchpad works good only when the AC DAdaptator is plugged off. I can work correctly only on battery.
I'm fed with this machine!!!! I'm going to send it to the Tohsiba SAV

  • Satellite P300-1DA - Battery with more capacity

The standard battery on my Satelite P300-1DA gives me 1.5h working time.
Does batteries with lager capacity exsist?

    Hi mate,
You can check this yourself on the Toshiba website where you can search for compatible accessories. Here you can find it:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Peripherals & Services => PC Options & Accessories => PC Options & Accessories Home Page
For example the PA3537U-1BRS battery is a 9cell battery and compatible with Satellite P300. You can order it from an authorized service provider! :)

  • Satellite L850-1R4 - Freezing with high pitched buzzing sound

    Greetings.
I obtained this computer from my school, it was packed and not opened as far as I know(to my knowledge they didn't open 'em at least.) Around 5-6 times every day (Span of 6 hours at least) my computer freezes, with a very high pitched buzzing sound that sounds like a bloody drill.
I updated my drivers and everything, but this still occurs and I have to power restart the computer to be able to continue working/playing/watching anything.
    How can I solve this?
    Thank you and best regards.
    Berkcan S.

    > Furthermore If I take it to factory settings (which I tried some months back) It gives me further crashes, freezes and blue screens.
Sorry mate but for me it sounds like an hardware problem. BSOD can be caused due serious software issue (compatibility between driver and hardware) or hardware malfunction but setting the unit back to factory setting should not cause an software issues. Therefore I presume an hardware part is the troublemaker.
The common parts like HDD or RAM modules should be checked firstly following by motherboard, CPU, etc

  • Satellite C850 touchpad freezes frequently

I got a Satellite C850 last weekend and I'm having issues with the mousepad - it freezes frequently.........any help greatly appreciated - really don't want to have to send it in for repair after only 5 days

Try to update the touchpad software/driver.
Visit the Toshiba EU driver page:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Choose the notebook model you own, and download the touchpad driver.
    I guess its from Synaptics.
You could also try the original touchpad software from Synaptics driver page:

  • Satellite A660-12E - Freezes with graphic artefacts

    Hello,
    Here's my problem :
I bought a Satellite A660-12E. Got it last saturday, transported it with great precautions.
The problem is that when I use a CG dependent program such as a game, the games freezes rapidly, even in the menus, with screen artefacts, symptom of a CG failure (happened in the menus of TF2, alien swarm and while playing Plain SIght). When under windows (with aero and transparency), going on the internet, looking at movies, everything's ok. No problem while using 3DSmax and Mudbox, but didn't check since the last time the problem happened.
Plus the problem doesn't happen the first time I launch a game. Only after a long run of the computer (I use a cooling station and check the temperature : never above 55c ) to download a game on steam, for exemple.
I tried to install my own version of windows 7 (professional 64bit), updated the cg driver, installed a selection of programs from ninite.com, but the problem reappeared.
Since I'm a student with poor resources and worked all summer just to afford a laptop, i'm a bit upset. :/
Does anyone has a solution or should I contact customer support as soon as possible ?
    Thanks.

And now the problem happened when I was on the desktop...
Is it possible that it comes from steam ?
Anyway, here comes the logs :

  • Satellite P300-161 - troubles with new battery

I have just purchased a new battery on line for the above laptop.
When I place the battery in the laptop, the orange charging light comes on, and the battery appears to charge.
However, after several minutes, the charge light starts to flash, and stays flashing. I therefore cannot tell if and when the battery is fully charged.
When I take the mains charger out and turn on the laptop, it comes on ok, but the battery icon is showing 'remaining time unknown' and is grey. The charge light is still flashing orange.
When I emailed the company the reply was:
<Hope the battery works well with your laptop.
As a new battery, for the first three times, you should full charge 12hrs. Then discharge, 3% remains then recharge.
Remember for the first three time charge, you should shut down your laptop>
When I charged for 12 hours, the laptop would not turn on.
    The next response was:
<Could you please try to plug and unplug the battery for more times, then recharge.
If the battery still can't work? Would you pls kindly take photos of the battery which was sent by us and your original one to us?
    Just to see barcode(the white label)\part number\fit modle. >
Has anyone any thoughts? My impression was that the battery is faulty.

    Thanks for reply.
The battery in question is a high capacity 7800 mAh. Could this have a bearing on the problem!
I'm not sure if Toshiba do one as large as this.

  • Satellite P300-1AN - Touchpad issue with AC adapter

I've a Satellite P300-1AN notebook and since the beginning (two weeks)
I have a touchpad issue: it is not immediately responsive and the pointer trembles when touching the pad. Very often it freezes for just one or two seconds.
This is VERY annoying. A USB mouse works perfectly.
I tried reinstalling ALPS drivers, tried Synaptics ones, tried just Windows Vista drivers: no way.
Now I have found the reason: this issue is present only when the notebook is powered by AC adapter.
With battery the touchpad is perfect.
I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they won't change the AC adapter if I don't try before a complete system restore!
Isn't it simpler just try with a new adapter and only then, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?
Has anyone had this same issue?

    > I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they won't change the AC adapter if I don't try before a complete system restore! Isn't it simpler just try with a new adapter and only then, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?
The point is that your notebook should be always checked using the Toshiba factory configuration.
Why? Because the ASP wants to be sure that this issue is not related to a software problem (compatibility issue with 3rd party applications). The software issues are not covered by warranty.
Furthermore the ASP will always recover the notebook before checking any hardware parts for a malfunction. Therefore you should always backup your data from the HDD before you will send the notebook for checking.
I would recommend to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba recover disk and then check if the issue would appears.
If yes then you can contact the ASP again and could provide all details which are necessary for an technician.
    Bye

  • Re: Satellite P300-161 - Random Lock-ups/Freezing

    Hi all,
I've had my Toshiba Satellite P300-161 laptop for roughly about 6 months now. However, during the past month or so.. I've been experiencing random freezing of the whole laptop.
It usually just starts off at anytime.. then it'll have a break then start freezing again. When it freezes, it lasts for about 10-15 seconds and everything goes to "Not Responding". Even Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't load up the task manager until after the freezing stops. However, I've discovered that when it's in its "freeze" mode, where the applications are not responding, I can give the laptop a gentle tap with my hand on the open space area to the right of the touchpad... and it unfreezes.... Surely this is a bad thing.
I plan to take this back to where I purchased it from and have it sent off to Toshiba to get it fixed as I have a 2 year warranty with them IF I can't get help from here.
    Much help needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Benny Fung.

    Hi.
    Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, it's currently running on Vista SP1. I have reinstalled Vista _once_ for this laptop, perhaps I should reinstall it again before I take it back to John Lewis just to make sure...
I don't think it's overheating, as it can do it at anytime.. for instance, I could just be running Firefox and Messesnger and it still does it and with 3GB of RAM and 2.1Ghz, it should be able to perform simple tasks like that without overheating.
Hmm, What's this air spray cleaner thing you're talking about? How does it work?
    Thanks.

    thank you for your repley
i am very much in favor of stability ,reliability and performance but the fact remains
that Toshiba Techs have made a conscious  and willfull decision to under clock the laptop and make no
mention that the bios updates may result in processing reduction, as for the call to tech support it was fruitless
because they are clueless as to why such things happen (Corporate Denial).
In Canada there were two very close speced laptops
one for 899.00 CAD with 1.9 GHz CPU
and the one I bought 2 months ago 1149.00 CAD 2.0 GHz
To me this looks like Toshiba overclocking the laptop to get out the retail door.
its not just affecting me, it affects everyone that buys a Toshiba laptop.
I will not back down on this point. The origional advertised and paid for specs, should
be restored in an upcoming bios update. If not, then it just confirms my original
    findings.
This is refered to as "BAIT and SWITCH" and the practice is illegal in Canada.

  • Satellite P300 with screen turning pink

    Hi
My Satellite P300 is model PSPCCA-OC6O1Y. The problem I have is a lot of pink on the screen. This has been reoccuring over the last week with this morning the worst. Presently I have two distinct pink pencil lines running down the screen just right of middle, and I also have many other random pink pixles jumping all over the place.
Earlier today what would normally be white on the screen is pink and moving which made it almost impossible to see the screen and use the machine. A shut down and restart has bought it back to a useable position, although the problem has not gone away. On restart no sign of pink on the screen during the normal bootup - no sign of pink on the log in page and pink started as soon as either the browser or email apps were activated. It does go across all programs - I cannot isolate it to any one program, so I suspect it is not a program specific issue.
I am not a techie, just a user, so if the reply can be in simple to understand language that would be appreciated. The machine is under warranty, however I am trying to avoid downtime for repair which is critical if possible.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Fletch,
Did you connect an external monitor to your notebook? With this external device you can identify the reason of this issue. That means if the external monitor works properly, it seems to be related to the internal display that must be changed.
As Jeka-IL wrote, contact nearest authorized service provider in your country. The guys will try to help you and if your notebook is under warranty, the repair is for free.

  • VT with Satellite P300 and Intel Core 2 Duo T5750

    Hello there,
i recently bought a new Satellite P300 Notebook to be able to work with virtualisation technics. Unfortuanately, there is no "VT"-mark in the bios. Is there any possibility to activate the "VT"-Technology? I know that there are many posts about this topic, but they aren't very helpfull, because i already looked up my processor and intel says that it is "VT" capable...
Thanks a lot for your answers :-)

I started working as a Computer Technician about 4 weeks ago and this notebook was the cheapest way to try different systems (because it's quick enough!). The company i work for has many different clients who have very many different systems (also 64bit systems) so i wanted to use virtual machines to evaluate different problems... And without VT enabled a can't evaluate a 64bit virtual machine... So, if you are right (what i do think) then i've got a good notebook which is only good for "normal" business or homeuse... But thank you very much for your answer!

  • My Satellite L675-S7016 freezes when I don't work with it 5-10 minutes

My Satellite L675-S7016 freezes when I don't work with it 5-10 minutes and only if plugged with power cable, on battery power no problem with freezing.
I switch off sleep options in power manager on all power profiles, but problem still here.
Who ever met the same problem? How to solve?

od, what computer do you have? Does it ever "unfreeze" or do you have to power it down? When does it freeze?

  • Satellite L20-260 won't boot up, everytime it freezes with no reasons

    Hi all,
I've got a sad problem with my satellite, after 3-4 days I've installed a new OS (i've tried with XP SP2 and Kubuntu) system won't boot up, everytime it freezes with no reasons, the only way is to perferom a new OS installation. Could it be an hardware problem maybe related to RAM or HDD?
    10x, Daniele.

    Hi
This is not easy to say if the problem is software or hardware related.
You should install the OS from the Toshiba recovery CD and test the functionality again
If the notebook will start freezes again immediately after recovery CD installation then it could be a hardware problem.
You could try to use the MemTest 3.5 tool.
It checks the memory for malfunction.

  • What lightscribe CD/DVD drives are compatible with Satellite P300

    Very fast.
What optical lightscribe drives i can mount in my Toshiba Satellite P300.
At now i have pioneer dvr-kd08 but i wont lightscribe.

This is not that easy to say as compatibility depends on the slave/master settings and therefore you would need to ask an ASP.
Maybe check some lightscribe ODDs and ask the guys from ASP.
But honestly, would you really want to waste your money on this feature? I know, those discs look pretty nice when used ligthscribe on it, but is it worth it?
I have one in my other notebook but I have only used it once.
And you will need special blank CDs/DVDs with this surface to use lightscribe feature.

  • Strange issue with "Enter" key in Vista on Satellite P300-225

A few weeks ago, I don't recall exactly when, Windows Vista on my Satellite P300-225 started to pass an incorrect scancode to applications when the Enter key is pressed. It always sends the scancode of the Keypad Enter key, even when I hit the one in the alphanumeric part of the keyboard. It did work correctly some time ago, but suddenly, it just started acting like this. No remapping of any keys.
Since there are quite a few programs that act different on these two keys, this has become quite an annoying issue.
The strangest part of it is, that the problem seems to be somehow related to Windows Vista, since the keys are correctly reported on Linux.
If anybody has a clue, please, let me know.

Yes, it almost certainly is a keymapping issue related to Vista. Reinstalling Vista isn't a way to go, it's not worth the effort (the recovery DVDs would comletely wipe out everything from my harddisk so I'd have to move all my data away and then restore, reinstall Linux et cetera). I'll give a try to uninstalling the keyboard in safe mode though.
Anyway, it almost looks like some Windows update is responsible for this, since I have automatic updates enabled and it installs something everytime I boot it. I don't know about any program I installed before this happend that could possibly alter the mappings. (...and the registry key used for this is empty.)
