Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????
If any body knows PLS let me know.
chears
Thanks in advance

Hi
I have already found you other threads.
Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

  • Satellite M70-340: Question about warranty if I buy in Russia and move to Australia

I'd like to buy notebook Satellite M70-340 here in Russia. Next month I'm going to move to Australia. What about the warranty in this case?
Will I have to pay if some trouble occurs?
How can I recognise a laptop which is officially sold (= i mean legally delivered and has a worldwide warranty)?
Thanx a lot for your answer!

    Hi
I dont know what you mean with officially sold and I hope you will buy notebook in PC store and not on the street. As far as I know every new notebook has one year international warranty but if you will stay longer you can buy warranty extension. It must be buying by authorized service partner in your country.
If you have troubles in Australia go to service partner and they will check if the unit is stolen or official soled. After that it can be repaired. As I said, contact Authorized Toshiba service partner in Russia and ask for warranty extension.

  • Satellite P300D-10V - Turn off by high temperature

    Hi!
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite P300D-10V and I have a problem with overheating! When I load my CPU with 2,2 GHz for a long time, it turn off by high temperature!
What must be my solution about this problem?
"Normal" temperature for my laptop is around 70 - 75 degrees cslsius! Is it normal for this CPU?
I have used another laptop with Intel CPU and there is no such problem! My Toshiba is in use for 2 years! OS Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    REGARDS!

    Hi alexander79,
First of all you should know that cleaning the fan is not covered by warranty!!! Of course you can do this from an authorized service provider but for this service you have to pay, its not free!
More detailed instructions you can find in this how to article from Toshiba:
[How to clean the cooling system of a Toshiba notebook? |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]
As you can read, the notebook should be cleaned every 3-4 months and believe me, you will be very surprised how much dust come out ;)
Last but not least its also important that you only use display drivers from Toshiba.
I had also a problem with overheating and this was caused due a wrong display driver (I used the drivers from nVidia page). They are not pretested and dont have an overheat protection The result was overheating and turning off.
After installation of Toshiba display driver the problem was solved.

  • Satellite P300D-10V shut down when playing game

    Hello everyone
I bought a Sat P300d-10v last month. At first it was very good but it was always very hot.
I thougt that the cause is the weather but it wasn't.
When I try to play a game (cod4-prostreet- even easy dos games) my device always shuts down in first ten minutes! and it was always doing that at any game any resolation!
And another problem too; if I turn on the music up to %50 device was making a "diiizzzz" sound from the all keypad and connection points of the plastic pieces.
First i couldnt thought them as big problems but when i search on line in Turkey i found lots of people who are having same problems on their P300D-10V
and some of them gave their pc's to technical service and take their moneys back so I gave mine too.
But of course i am having problems to tell my problems to technical service right now.
Is there anyone who are having these same problems with this pc or any knowledges about the problems?
    Erman Manas
    Bursa/TURKEY

i gave my pc to authorized service center ,in my local area but they say that they couldnt find any problem in the pc while playing any game or in the sound system, maybe they have cleaned the dust you've mention about.
so today i am gonna go to the service center and we will look the device together.
room tempture was about 30 degrees i accept it was hot but it shouldnt shut down at all...
and the sound system is not related with the tempture.
so i will mention about the test i am gonna do to day in the technical service.
but i wonder is there anyone who are having the same problem with me ?????

  • Satellite U405D - Several questions about overheat/disassembly/upgrade etc.

    Hi there,
I have several questions about my one year old Satellite U405D-S2910
1- When it works, after 2-3 hours (I usually run small programs like safari, msn messenger and bsplayer) CPU gets 85-90 C (178-188 F). When I play Age of Empires 2 (Come on, its an ancient game) like 2-3 hours it shuts down itself. What could be the possible reason?? By the way, let me inform you about the climate of the town I live, temp 30C - humidity 25-35% (nowadays).
    ps. Cpu= AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor. Model, RM-74
2- I'm going to disassemble my laptop in order to clean its cooling units (I think reason of overheating is this). It doesnt seem like a desktop, so complicated. Ive seen a step-by-step disassembly(btw, its so hard to spell disassembly:) I think Im going to do this. What are your suggestions about it? any experiences could help me?
3- My laptops Ram memory consists of 2X2GB PC5300 DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, I want to replace it to 2x2GB MACH XTREME DDR2 1333MHZ CL9 NOTEBOOK RAM. Should I do it? Does it fit my laptop, work stable? any suggestions?
    ps. mainboard chipset AMD M780V
4- finally :) , Should I use 64 bit OS or 32 bit OS (win7)? what OS would you use if you were me?
    Thank you.

    Hi buddy,
1+2. I think everything is related to a higher internal temperature and you should clean your notebook using compressed air spray. Therefore its not necessary to disassemble it, just blow gently and shortly the air through the notebook. You can buy such compressed air spray from every computer store I think and it takes only 5 minutes.
You can find an useful article about this here:
    3. In my opinion you should forget this update! The RAM speed is related to FSB of CPU and as far as I know on Satellite U405D its 667MHz so its already the fastest RAM that you can have. Save your money and buy a bigger HDD or in best case an SSD that can really improve the performance!
    4. In my opinion the answer is clear: Windows 7 64bit.
    Only a 64bit OS support full 4GB RAM. ;)

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about International warranty

I bought a Satellite laptop L850-Y3110 in India which has an international warranty.
There's a problem with it now, it's cd drive is faulty and I took it to an authorized service centre in Newcastle.
It needs the cd driver to be replaced, but now Im told Toshiba wont give the part cause I didn't but it in the UK, and the person told me to go back to where I bought it from and fix it there, I wont be going back there any time soon, so thats out of the option.
My question is what's the point of the International warranty if it's going to have these kinds of drawbacks.
When I bought a laptop I wanted one which would be in warranty internationally cause Im a student going out of the country for studies, thats why I bought this one as it has international warranty and my laptop still is in international warranty.
What am I to do now?

    Hi
Im not quite sure about the notebooks sold in India but the notebooks sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year European standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/standard-warranty/
This warranty does not cover repair in other countries but in case of hardware malfunction you have to visit the authorized service provider in country where you made the purchase.
To get international warranty coverage you would need to purchase an International Warranty extension: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/
In case the International Warranty has been registered for your notebook, the ASP in UK should be able to fix the notebook under international warranty conditions.

  • Question about Warranty extension on Satellite A300-1EI

    Good day.
I need some information and assistance please.
I bought a laptop around mid September 2008 in Saudi Arabia. (Jarir Bokstore). The store had a promotion whereby you get the standard one year international warranty BUT they give you a further extension of a year (hence, 2 years in total).
I intended on purchasing an extended warranty for a three year period. I was told by the salesman that I can activate my "gift" warranty and later purchase another extendable warranty for a total of 4 year international coverage.
I registered the given warranty and it appears on the toshiba warranty portal.
However, when I returned to the store to purchase a further warranty extension I was told that you cannot register more than one warranty.
I found this strange and therefore did not purchase the additional extended warranty yet. I need to know whether this is actually true or will I still be able to purchase an extended warranty again. Seems I run into a brick wall when I ask the salemen . . .thought I would try the forum instead.
I need to get information from a reliable and trustworthy source.
The other news they also gave me is that they are awaiting news from Toshiba regarding the same subject.
    Kindly assist.
Thank you and eagerly awaiting a reply.
    Lukman

    Hi
As far as I know all Toshiba notebooks are covered by warranty for one year (12 month).
If you would register your notebook on the Toshiba European page you would get additional one year warranty; in total 2 years warranty.
    > The store had a promotion whereby you get the standard one year international warranty BUT they give you a further extension of a year (hence, 2 years in total).
The additional one year of warranty is not a gift from the shop. You will get this additional year of warranty always if you would register the notebook. It has nothing to do with the place where you have purchase this notebook.
    So now some words regarding your warranty extensions;
First of all you have to register your notebook on the Toshiba European page.
This registration will enable the additional second year of warranty. (as mentioned above)
Now if you want you can purchase further warranty packages.
Toshiba provides different packages and in your case I would recommend checking this Toshiba European page for more details:

  • Question about warranty period

How long about the warranty period of mother board? (notebook model: Satellite L305-S5896)
I use it only 1 year and 4 months, now it can't power on.
The adaptor is ok, so I think the problem is the mother board.

You can contact Toshiba Tech suport and give them the serial number located on the bottom of you PC, They will tell you if it is still covered under a waranty.

  • Satellite X205-S9349 - Question about GPU temperature

    Hi,
I purchased an *Satellite X205-S9349* approx. 10 months ago an recently installed a temperature monitor for the nVidia 8700M GT card. While using 3d modeling applications I recorded the average temperature at *97 degrees Celsius*.
Idling the computer results in a temperature of *60 degrees*. The computer is present in an air conditioned room, who's average temperature is *19 degrees*.
Is this the normal operating temperature of the X205-S9349 when on full load?
Can this temperature damage my computer?
Is there anything I can do to reduce the temperature without voiding the warranty provided by Toshiba?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pabst
PS: I have propped the back of my computer up so that air can easily flow through the bottom.

    Hello Pabst
In my opinion there is no reason for panic. If you use original Toshiba display driver your notebook is protected and if the notebook will come up to critical temperature level it will shut down automatically to avoid hardware damage.
This with propping back side is great idea. Sometimes I do the same. The notebook can be cooled much better. And one more thing: do not believe always what those third part applications show.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite P300D-10V is overheating

    Hi everyone
I am using Toshiba p300 d-10v laptop till one year. After one month I've bought this notebook, I had some problems with it. For those problems I'vee sent my laptop to the service twice in three months.
First problem was it is overheating and closes the system. Second problem was about the ATI Graphic card. For those two problems the service person told that they did not see any problem and they sent it back. I am not going to sent it to this service in Turkey again.
I want some suggestions to find a solution for me.
As I heard from internet about this problem there are many users in Turkey having the same problem at that model of notebook. I can only use %70 percent of processor so if it goes up than it shuts the system, why I should use less than %70 percent of the capacity. If I knew this I would buy another model notebook. There was no any information about this model of notebook when I bought this model.
    Cheers
    Tolga

    Hi mate
I dont understand how you can use only 70% of the CPU performance.
Usually the CPU supports the AMD PowerNow Technology which allows you to use the CPU in Automatic mode.
In Automatic mode, the speed and voltage are controlled dynamically and automatically. It depends on the application how fast the CPU would run.
In Automatic mode, the needs of the application environment dictate the amount of performance required and power used.
This mode of operation ensures that only the required amount of power is dissipated.
Simply said if the application doesnt need the full CPU performance then the CPU will not run always with 100% and will not create high heat dissipation.
But the notebook could overheat if you would use non-Toshiba graphic drivers.
The drivers which are not certified by Toshiba dont support the overheating protection and the usage of such drivers could lead to a overheating. Therefore you should use always the Toshiba drivers because such drivers are designed especially for the notebooks graphic cards. Drivers from ATI page are created only for desktop PCs.
Finally its strongly recommended to use the notebook on the table and to ensure that there is enough free space around the notebook to ensure a good air circulation.
Especially in countries or regions (i.e Turkey, Africa ) where the temperature is higher its really important that the notebook would be cooled properly.

  • Question about warranty extension

    Hi
I got my satellite pro from UK, but I am not residing there. I am trying to buy warranty extension, but all the sites require UK credit card address. I contacted reseller in Egypt who said that I have to buy it from UK not Egypt, is it true? and how can I buy one?

    Hi Adham
As far as I know you can buy warranty extension in the country where you have bought your notebook. Maybe try to contact Authorized service Partner in UK and ask if you can buy it there. Money transfer should not be problem and the small box with warranty they can send you per post.

  • Satellite A100-599 - question about display driver update

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A100-599 with a NVIDIA 7600go graphic card and I have Bioshock like most of you the game crashes because of some problems with the graphic card drivers, no pb...in the meantime NVIDIA released some new patches to the Forceware and after I rechecked the Toshiba driver support database I saw a new release in the Display driver list for WinXp.
One of them seems to be from 13/09/2007. I downloaded the drivers, installed them and after I checked the driver details in the Device manager list and to my surprise the details said the drivers are from 2006. I reinstalled the drivers and the same thing appeared. I checked the XML that was in the drivers archive and surprise ...the drivers are really the old ones from 2006. So my question is this: Do you have any Display Drivers for my model that work for Bioshock :D
    Regards,Marian

I dont know if WE have. I think it would be took some long time to ask every single user: hey, do you have some drivers for blackmodjo? Ah, come on, please. Just a little bit of them... ;)
No, I have a better idea. Its like cooking a meal. The ingredients: DriverCleaner Pro and the website www.laptopvideo2go.com and .... ta ta ta TAAAA a lot of patience
To get some good "bio"shocked meal just follow this receipt:
    Go to
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
read before you do anything (YES, even before you continue BREATHING) the FAQ-section on that site (RECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDED)
and then download the drivers. Do it, yes...
Then download drivercleaner by searching for it on www.google.com and THEN, read their Manual before doing anything else (Ok, you can continue breathing..)
After reading their manual you will something like:
    1. Starting program, doing something, restarting machine
    2. starting in safe mode, starting that program, removing..yadayadayada
    3. Installing new driver
    3. Playing Bioshock
    4...
5..no..6. Thanking me and giving me your first born.. ;)
So, by cutting away around 40% of my humoristic stuff and following the constructive technical instructions from me you will be able to play bioshock.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - question about BIOS update

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that were installed recently.
In Toshiba's driver page (BIOS update) says:
"This Bios is only compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!!"
    1) Should I update my BIOS(1.4) or is it going to be a problem for my XP windows?
    2) Has anyone try it?
    3) Is there documentation about the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc)?

    Hi madmak
I think the description should be clear if the BIOS description says that the BIOS is only compatible for notebooks with Windows Vista then you cannot use it with Windows XP.
I think nobody should check if an Vista BIOS would be run on the XP notebook because mostly a wrong BIOS can damage the motherboards ROM on in your case some notebook features will not run correctly.
I didnt find also any reports about any fixed BIOS bugs it seems something like that was not published on Toshiba European site.
best regads and happy new year ;)
