Satellite P305-S8820 - Upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi All,
If I purchase Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack (3-User) (DVD-ROM), for my toshiba P305-S8820.
1. Will I be able to perform a clean install by reformatting the disk?
2. Is there a utility from Toshiba, that will go find all the drivers for Windows 7?
3. Which drivers by Toshiba are required to be installed for Windows 7 to be successful?
4. Is there a Bios update required for the machine to work on Windows 7?
Thanks.
Matt

Toshiba has a lot of useful info scattered across their sites. I suggest you read this [us.toshiba.com/windows7-upgrade/] about upgrade methods and follow the links off this [http://us.toshiba.com/windows7-upgrade/] to get specific information about required bios updates and the suitability of Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7 software - +"The Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7 is software that manages all of the details of the upgrade process from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on Toshiba laptops. The Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7 automatically uninstalls driver and utility software that was preinstalled by Toshiba and needs to be removed from Windows Vista prior to upgrading to Windows 7, launches the Windows 7 installation Setup program, and then installs Toshiba software after the Windows 7 upgrade is completed. For more details, see 'Toshiba tools to simplify the Windows 7 installation process.'"+

    Hello
In dec 2006 I purchased an equium laptop which was installed with windows xp. It had a free upgrade to windows vista home premium in june 2007
All the Toshiba driver info on the laptop still refers to windows xp and I wondered if a package can be downloaded to
update all the drivers to vista and change the Toshiba Assist/Protect & Fix/Preinstalled Drivers Depository/Tools & Utilities window to read Vista Home Premium instead of Windows xp.
    Thanks for advice

  • Tx2120us, upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I wonder if there's anyone out there who has managed to sucessfully upgrade his/her HP tx2120us tablet PC from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate or to do a fresh Windows 7 ultimate install on a HP tx2120us tablet PC.
I purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition AND a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive and started a fresh Windows 7 installation. After the installation was done, the network adapters fixed and wireless were working. I also managed to install the Audio drivers for the built in realtek audio adapter. Even the touchpad, touchscreen and pen seem to work but then I stopped after several attempts to install a suitable display driver for the NVIDIA G-Force video adapter. The resolution with my Vista OS is 1280 x 800 but the default Windows 7 OS only provides a generic 1064 x 768 resolution and not any download from HP could install a suitable NVIDIA driver for Windows 7.
As I stopped there I don't even know if there is a driver for the card reader or the Light Scribe DVD burner and whatever is buit in into this tx2120us.
I'd really very much appreciate if someone who had succeeded with the installation of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on the tx2120us could provide me with working drivers or the links to them.
    thanks

  • Upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate

    Hi all
I am trying to upgrade my windows Vista from home premium to ultimate and I have the original CD for the ultimate but when I put the CD and upgrade it wont upgrade and it gives me this message:
" - The upgrade cannot be started. To upgrade, cancel the installation and the choose to upgrade to a version of windows that is more recent than the version you are currently running."
And my computer is up to date so I dont understand is there something messing or I have to install a clean version of windows Vista?!
And if I have to install a clean version is the any way to install the windows without deleting my documents ?!
Hope someone will help me :D
    Thx

To be honest I don't know how it works exactly and maybe you should ask this on some Microsoft forum or make call by Microsoft in your country. I think they are the right address for such issues.
Of course you can make clean Vista installation. All your data can be saved if you have two partitions and all important data will be saved on second partition. When Vista installation starts for Vista destination choose first partition. This partition will be deleted but all your data on second partition will be untasted.

  • Compaq Presario F572us upgraded to Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I just upgraded my F572us from Vista HP to Win 7 HP and would like to upgrade my memory from 2gb.  What type cards and how much gb?  Also, Windows has been doing some major updating, but how do I know if all drivers have been updated, to include BIOS?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

No. Worst case it just does not POST. It may also just be a bit unstable so if you get 3 or 4 to work to POST go in and do something demanding like play a game to see if it bluescreens or something. it will not do permanent harm and if it is unstable just drop back to the next level.

  • Lenovo H230 - upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional

I would like to put Professional on my H230 in such a way as to have it in the RECOVERY PARTITION so I will be able to RECOVER to that version.  I do not believe an INSTALL will allow that.
How do I install to the RECOVERY PARTITION?  so it will be the RECOVERY version?

Well, I'm embarrassed to admit I rather "jumped the gun" on this one ... having written and posted my query I thought I'd see if a Restart would help ... it did!! Turns out I am now satisfactorily upgraded to Pro.
Sorry if I have wasted anyone's time and ... if you're experiencing a similar problem ... I'd advise you go for a Restart before panicking ... like me!!

  • Satellite M40: installing Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my Satellite M40 (PSM40A-03K009) to Windows 7 Home Premium but towards the end of the installation, my notebook reboots and freezes up trying to start Windows 7.
I've rebooted in safe mode and it seems to be getting stuck loading \windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys.
I've tried everything I can think of: running start-up repair on installation disk, installing latest versions of drivers, updating BIOS, reformatting disk, etc but nothing seems to work.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers
    Rob

    Thanks for your thoughts.
You're both probably right about it being too old (although it does have a 2GHz processor & 2GB RAM) but I thought it worth a try as I have a spare copy of Windows 7 and much prefer it to XP (I have it running on my newer Toshiba laptop).
I'll try a couple more things then restore XP if I can'?t crack the problem.
Any idea what CLASSPNP.SYS is meant to be controlling? It seems to have something to do with SCSI controller but I don'?t think this pc has any SCSI devices.
    Cheers, Rob

  • Anyone have the Windows 7 Home Premium x32 upgrade disc

Hi.  I have an upgrade disc....but I have the incorrect one for my system.   It is an upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium x64.   I need Windows 7 Home Premium x32 upgrade.    I'm hoping to find someone with the proper disc for my system.  Lenovo said that's the only way I can upgrade now that the program has ended.  Anyone out there still have an upgrade disc? I will pay for mailing and live in GA.  If someone else missed the upgrade prgram and can use the disc I have let me know.
    Thanks,
    CJ

When asking a question with undeclared statements, you make it more difficult. Do you have a link for your references concerning an need to upgrade the BIOS. On the webpage BN listed, there is no BIOS update.
I have an HPm8100e CTO, M2N68LA Narra2 board. You have the Narra3 board. The in-place upgrade (abeit it was Ultimate) was successfully completed. The only hick-ups were re-install of a few games, and new printer drivers. (I had 2 printers on that machine).

    Hello
    > I INSTALL WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM USING TOSHIBA PRODUCT RECOVERY DISK
I doubt you have installed Windows 7 from Toshiba recovery disk
As far as I know Satellite L300 was only delivered with Vista or XP. Satellite L300 wasnt on the market anymore at Windows 7 was released.
I think you have to buy an official Windows 7 disk with product key. Such Windows 7 installation is genuine and you will not have any problems.

  • Upgrade from VISTA (x32) Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium (x32).

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium (x32). I have a HP Pavilion a6450z which has a SLIC 2.0 BIOS made by Phoenix Technologies. I am running VISTA (x32) Home Premium now, which came on the computer when I bought it in May of 2008. From what I’ve read I need to upgrade my BIOS so it will have SLIC 2.1 otherwise I won’t be able to activate it. Is this true or when I install Windows 7 will it automatically upgrade my BIOS?
    Thank You Hank

  • Tx2517ca From Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

    Hi Everyone,
I have a very specific question. I currently am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I want to use Windows 7. However, I want to use Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (rather than Windows 7 Home Premium) and understand that this will require a clean install.
Before I purchase Windows 7 Professional, I want to make sure that this can be done correctly. Does anyone know if this is possible or have already done this?
I have downloaded and ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which told me that I would be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate, but it does not mention Windows 7 Professional at all. I'm assuming this is because it would require a clean install.
    Thanks for your time,
    Lauren

thanks ... I see now from your other post that you're probably getting either a "missing QuickTime.msi" message or being told that a "newer version of QuickTime" is installed when you try to go ahead and uninstall QuickTime after you're told about the Key?
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Satellite P305-S8820 - FN key not working after clean install of Windows 7

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P305-S8820. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7. I have loaded the Toshiba value added driver pack and the trackpad driver but still cannot get the trackpad or the FN key to work.
    Any ideas?

    Hello John
You are like other millions other users and what you can read is relevant for you but sometimes it works a little bit different. For you it can be useless but sometimes it helps. Fact is that this utility is offered for some notebook models.
Generally speaking you are right and after VAP installation the job should be done but Ive faced the same problem in the past. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not. You will not believe me but in the past I used stuff for Satellite P300 to get all stuff working on Satellite A350. I cannot explain why this happen and it sounds crazy but it is the truth.
You can also try to play a little bit with VAP installation. Try to install VAP for A300/A350/P300. Generally speaking it is the same and if this will not work well you can remove it from the system.
Launcher for flash cards? It must be listed in MSCONFIG > startup > TcrdMain.exe

  • Satellite A665-S6050 Windows 7 Home Premium Memory Upgrade will not boot

Hope there might be a clue to assist.
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB.  Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended.  BIOS recognizes the memory, but Windows will not boot.  Tried Safe Mode and hangs after a few seconds.  Tried Repair Computer, also hangs after a few seconds.  Put original memory back in and it boots fine.  There was a brief flash of a blue screen once, but no dump file to be found.
To me it seems as ifthe issue is Windows, but I do not know enough about this to say definitively.  Just based on the percieved behavior when Windows trys to boot (hanging).
Any ideas appreciated before I go through return and try something else.
    Thanks.
