Satellite P750-10C: SSD not so fast - get only 300MB/s

Hi,
Today I bought Samsun 840 PRO 128GB with 390/500MB and install it in my notebook, but in test I get only 300MB/s, why?
Its SATA III port, so I should get this 500MB like other person.

Hi
From my knowledge some models of Satellite P750 series would support two HDDs
I think that the HDD1 and HDD2 would be connected to port 0 and 1 and for both HDDs 600MB/s (2x 300MB/s ) data throughput would be reserved.
I think in such case even if the notebook would support one HDD, only 300MB/s would be possible.
SATA port 2 where ODD is connected would support only 300MB/s

  • Satellite A65 won't start and I get only blue screen!

When I start my satellite A65 a blue screen comes up saying "a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer"
it says to check if I have adequate disk space or to either disable or update the driver if a driver was mentioned in the stop message... or to check bios updates...
I can type out everything it says if I need to, but that the jist
Does this sound familiar to anybody?
It might be because I didn't update enough when it told me to.
It won't start, not even on safe mode, and it won't let me restore, which I would be perfectly willing to do at this point.
    help, please
    Jamous

    Hi
Usually the Blue screen of death happens due to the serious software problem or due to the hardware malfunction.
In your case it sounds more like something wrong with the hardware. Why, because you are not able to restore the notebook from the delivered Toshiba recovery CD!
What to do buddy? I think the notebook must be checked.
Try to contact an ASP in your country and ask for the further handling!
    Good luck

  • Satellite A130: Fn key not working with Vista - only FlashCards

    Hi,
I have been looking around in the forums but I couldn't find solutions to my problem.
I have a satelite A130 and I am running a windows VISTA home basic. I have a problem with my fn functions.
I can only use the flash cards on top of my screen, just by sliding my mouse up on top of my screen.
The "fn" key works only when I start my computer, at the start up but when the computer runs, there is nothing else I could use but my mouse to show my flash cards and use them.
Is there anything I could do?
    Thanks

I have found solution, download from Canadian Toshiba site Toshiba Flash Cards Support Utility via http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp and all will be correct. Don't understand why this driver not included in europian site.

  • Satellite L30 Vista screen not lit; extrnal monitor only works in Safe Mode

    HI,
    I have LS30-10S.
    first the laptop screen would not light up though I could see a faint ghost of icons etc;
    I tried unplugging and holding power button down (battery is long time dead) with intermittent and random success;
I borrowed an external LCD monitor (Lenovo Thinkvision) and that worked fine, and pressing Fn+F5 would actually sometimes bring the laptop screen to life too.
I changed the screen inverter and that seemed to restore the laptop screen, but the next time I rebooted +neither+ screen would work unless I chose safe mode.
Currently I can only use the external screen and only in safe mode.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi
    Just few questions:
Has the external monitor worked properly before you disassembled the notebook and replaced the LCD inverter board?
What happens exactly if you boot the notebook in normal mode?
Did you try to boot the notebook using a Live CD (Win PE or Linux live CD)?
I would also recommend you to check if you new OS installation is possible.
The safe mode is just a test environment and the system does not access all hardware recourses using safe mode.
So theoretically the issue could be related to faulty hardware or system problems.

  • Satellite P750 - Wireless card is not working

PSAY3A-02q001. Laptop is about 20 months old. Turned it on this afternoon and the wireless is not working. Atheros AR9002WB-1NG. Cannot b switched on and off from the hardware switch. The switch beeps when pushed. Network troubleshooter indicates card is not turned on. Card is still detected in windows.
I am feeling that this indicates the card has failed. Any thoughts?
    cheers Simon

Ok just to tidy this up
The Atheros OEM wireless lan and the bluetooth were both working.
They stopped but I could still see the card in device manager.
Thinking the card was faulty and wanting to upgrade to a better wireless card I purchased an Intel 6235. i had the same problem i.e. the card would not turn on. I reinstalled the Toshiba value added package which then returned functionality to the hotkeys to turn the wireless on and off.
Next problem i was unable to get the bluetooth on the intel card to work.
There is a long thread on this on the intel community forum with the bottom line being a lot of people can't get it to work on their laptops.
I removed the intel card and reinstalled the OEM atheros card which is now working except i can't get the bluetooth to function correctly.
The intel bluetooth software is virtually uninstallable.
This is also covered in the same community forum.
The next step will be reinstalling the OS (windows 7 x64). It has been running for 2 years so is probably due.
    Learnings.
1> If your wireless card stops working in the P750 and you can't turn it on reinstall the Toshiba Value added package.
2> Don't install an Intel Centrino 6235 wireless card in your Satellite P750. The bluetooth will not work.
3> Don't install the Intel Proset bluetooth software on your Satellite P750. It wraps itself around everything and can't be uninstalled. Actually you can get it out manually

  • FN + F8 not working on Satellite P750

we have had no trouble using the wireless connection on our Satellite P750 notebook but this morning my husband did the FN+F8 button, the light went out, came back on almost immediately and we lost wireless connection.
When we push FN +F8 again its says to turn on the wireless communication switch.
Please note - we have searched top, bottom, both sides and back and cannot find any switch, or anything with the same symbol that the F8 button has on it that mighjt be a switch.
Neither did he turn any switch off befoire or after pushing FN+F8 so I don't know how the switch or wherever it is could be turned off.
On looking under network connections there is nothing to indicate that the wireless isn't working. the cell phone can connect via the wireless so its something on the computer itself.
I have searched other threads and nothing helpful has come up.

    Hello
Have you tried to restart the notebook and test WLAN connectivity again?
I dont have this notebook model but can you please check if WLAN button is placed between keyboard and display. It must be one of the function buttons.
According the manuals (page 47) it must be the third button from the left (power button, eco button and then WLAN button). Can you enable/disable WLAN using this button?
Please test it and send some feedback.

  • Satellite P750-BT4G22 Internal Microphone Not Working

    Hi,
For some weird reason the internal microphone on my Satellite P750-BT4G22 suddenly stopped working but the speakers work perfectly. Please advice.
    Thanks

Because the problem didn't go away with a system reset, it would require servicing. You'd set up a repair order with customer support and ship your laptop to a repair facility.

  • Satellite P750-02J - Not shutting down or hibernating

Ok so I bought a Satellite P750/02J just over a week ago and from the very beginning I was having trouble shutting it down. It goes through the process of shutting down as normal but once it reaches the blue 'shutting down' screen it freezes and it can stay like that for hours (even overnight!).
Also it wont got into hibernate properly either. Once I click on the hibernate button, it seems to be working and the screen goes black but thats all that happens. The fan is still running, the lights are still on and the keyboard is still responsive.
It seems to be fine if I havnt been using any programs but if I have previously had anything open, even if it has been exited properly it wont shut down or hibernate as it should.
Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it??

    Hi Avery8,
May I ask you what operating system you use and is it the preinstalled Windows version from Toshiba?
The reason is that some background programs could block the shutdown process so at the moment I doubt it is hardware related issue. Interesting to know would if the same happens with factory settings (recovery installation).
Have you connected external devices expect AC adapter? If yes remove them and test it again.

  • Win7 install with multiple/all the FAILS! Satellite P750 (PART NO. PSAY3A-02T001)

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite P750 (PART NO. PSAY3A-02T001)
Installing: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64 bit)
Background: Laptop is around 2-3 years old now. Formatting and installing a fresh copy of Win7. Doing this for a close friend.
Issue #1: Using the "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool" off the microsoft website, I attemped to install Win7 via USB drive (had so many issues before using this tool ). It boots to USB perfectly and starting going through the installation options. When it gets to "Where do you want to install Windows?"  (creating and seleting HDD partitions) I hit a major road-block!
p.s. USB in USB2.0 as I originally tried 3.0 and coudln't even make it that far....
I get the Error "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing systm partition. See the Setup log files for more information." Basically the Primary disk is created but the system disk wont.
p.s. The HDD still does show up and worked before this all. it's not a failed HDD.
I've tried (most of these were "Fixes" I found on forums that never worked):
    1. Creating different size partitions, multiple partitions, leaving GB's of "Unallocated Space" hoping it will create a system partition. Didn't work.....
    2. Formating the whole HDD using Command-line and wiping it completely clean. Honestly, this was stupid because now I cannot even go back! Didn't work.....
3.Changing BIOS settings and praying it will work. Most of the BIOS settings these fixes told me to change, aren't actaully on this Toshiba model. I even restart to default settings. Didn't work....
    4. Even tried a "load Drivers" fix I found. The fix asked for a SATA driver, but I got every driver just incase. Not a single driver even appeared on the "Select the driver to be installed" screen. Unticked the "hide drivers.." box also... So that didn't work either...
At this point I was pretty mad so I went and purcahsed some DVD-RW's to burn the ISO onto and try that instead.
Issue #2: Using the same tool as before, I installed Win7 onto a DVD. I then ran the DVD on my PC to test and the setup.exe showed up. I then put the DVD in the Toshiba laptop and using F12 to select "ODD        TSSTcorp CDDVDw TS-L633F" (the other options were "HDD/SSD, USB and LAN).
p.s. The DVD drive lights up and I can hear it reading the disc (normal slight humm).
    I then get:
    "Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
This product is covered by one or more of the following patents:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and Press a key_"
To me, this is the LAN controller boot, but it didn't even read the disk.
I've tried (and again, most of these were "Fixes" I found on forums that never worked):
    1. Changing Boot priorities and settings. I even tried to disable LAN boot in BIOS (but you cannot on this model). Didn't work..
    2. Yelling at it and holding myself back from hitting it with a hammer. Still attempting..
    3. Praying to a higher power. Didn't work...
Ideas I have left that may work:
    1. Downloading and burning a different ISO. maybe even trying 32bit. (was 64bit before starting)
    2. Waiting for someone much smarter than me to reply on this post and help me!
    3. Telling my friend that "It's not my problem, while I run off into the sunset!"
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! This is doing my head in!
and yes, I've tried turning it off and on again

oh my **bleep**ing god...... I am so mad right now! 95% butthurt infact!
    MY RAGE IS STRONG!
Just found out off the owner that the DVD drive doesn't work..
SO! The DVD drive doesn't work and it seems like the only way to install Win7. I have a feeling that this model doesn't do USB very well....
will an external DVD drive work for this? or some I find someone with a toshiba that has the same model dvd drive inside and swap them for an hour while I do it...
or should I try LAN... havn't one LAN install in a home environment before..

  • Satellite P750: Unable to install Bluetooth Stack driver on Windows 7 (x64)

    Hello.
    I own a *Satellite P750-02T* (Part no. *PSAY3A-02T001*).
In the order what I did:
    1) I formatted its HDD and reinstalled OS to *Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1*.
Then I downloaded *ONLY BIOS and the drivers* from [its Downloads page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25] :
    2) I updated its BIOS to *v1.90* (the laptop came with v1.80)
    3) I installed all the drivers:
    - both LAN and WiFi
    - Intel Chipset (latest available)
    - all video drivers (Intel HD Graphics, NVIDIA Graphics, and Intel HDMI)
    - Card Reader
    - Realtek HD Audio (latest)
    - Synaptics Touchpad
    - USB3.0
    - IR
    - TV-Tuner
However, I'm *unable to install the Bluetooth driver (v8.00.06(T)* )...
When I run setup from the [above-mentioned page|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25] it partially detects *'Bluetooth USB Controller-10 from TOSHIBA'* (USB\VID_0930&PID_0215&REV_001)
and then installation simply freezes displaying +'Installing the Bluetooth Driver. Please wait+.' and stays like that forever...
I also tried downloading a driver from [another location|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download-toshiba] for TOSHIBA notebooks - v8.00.02(T):
and followed installation instructions displayed under 'Details'
but there was the same outcome - the setup simply freezes...
Installing Hotfix (*KB978258*) recommended there didn't work either - the message '+The update is not applicable to your computer+' pops up.
And I understand why - this Hotfix is [already included|http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/B/A/EBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69/Updates%20in%20Win7%20and%20WS08R2%20SP1.xls] into Service Pack 1 for MS Windows 7.
I spent hours searching on the Internet for a solution. Although there were some similar cases none of the recommendations actually worked. I tried installing:
    - WiFi driver before installing Bluetooth (someone suggested that those two are the parts of the same card);
    - resuming installation in Safe Mode;
    - *Toshiba Value Added Package* hoping those tools somehow will kick in.
    Nothing worked...
It's interesting that when for the sake of experiment I tried to run installation for my generic Bluetooth adapter (using the driver [for non-TOSHIBA notebooks|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download]) then everything run smoothly!
*Using Bluetooth connection on this laptop is very crucial for me.*
I hope I shall not have to return this wonderful notebook as I know TOSHIBA is one of the best manufactures and am sure there is a solution to this problem.
    Thank you very much.
    Evgeny.

For FN functionality you must install Toshba Value added package. Toshiba flash cards utility is part of this package.
I dont know if P750 has WLAN switch but before you start BT installation be sure WLAN LED is ON.

  • Windows thinking Ctrl key is stuck on Satellite P750

Yes, I've done some thorough googling and searching of this forum before posting.  No prior topic quite resembles my problem; and the solutions don't help.  Sticky keys box in the Control Panel is unchecked, not using any aides--the computer is brand new with barely anything installed and zero customization.
Using my Satellite P750 (purchased just in October 2011), every once in a while after simply using Firefox or Chrome (either one)--using nothing but the mouse pad and the left mouse button--the size of the font of the text in the browser randomly increases, and after that the computer starts thinking the Ctrl key is being held down.  (Ctrl +Alt + Del does nothing, only rebooting the machine).  I realize that I'm inadvertently toggling some function, but what?  Looking around Control Panel, nothing seems to be close to "if user moves curser, increase font size and make the Ctrl key stuck".
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, had the same problem with brand new Toshiba Laptop.
Ours also had external mouse attached. With OS thinking CTRL key stuck, Excel went ape and began doing all manner of evil upon a very complex spreadsheet we were working on.
One note: On ours after getting to Mouse Properties, there was not an 'advance' option. Instead we had to select:

  • Satellite P750 - Shutdown issue after removal of external monitor USB 3 hub

Have operated my Satellite P750 laptop with external DeII monitor for a year or more now.
Monitor has a Usb 3 hub. (i have some ext HDD plugged into these. So far no issues. I unplugged the monitor usb hub from laptop (to create wndows image backup straight through the sole usb3 port on laptop.
After this finished i found that i was unable to shutdown or restart laptop. It gets to the light blue 'shutting down' screen; HDD light flashes for 5/10 secs then it stops accessing disk with power still on and stuck at blue shutdown screen; laptop even sounds like it shuts down.
Two things, i can hold down power button till hard stop, then press again to restart, and all is fine; no error messages when win 7 start up again. Or i have once just left it sitting without holding power button- it seemed to be like this for about 4 hours (monitor went to standby cause idle) before powers down.. When i start laptop after this i get windows warning failed to shut down properly.
It took me a while to work out which device was causing the issue; but can now replicate any time.
So - unplug monitor usb hub from laptop; laptop fails to shut down/restart.
Replug DeII usb hub back to laptop; no problem laptop back to normal shut down.
Any ideas??? (this means whenever i go portable with laptop i have to hard shut down/ hold power key to turn it off????)

To be honest I dont know why the system cannot shut down properly without connected USB monitor hub but system shut down issues are mostly related to some processes which are running in the background.
Sometimes such processes are locked and could not be closed due to different reasons. This may prevent the system from shut down
    Maybe this is the case
Try to clean the system as well as the registry using CCleaner (its freeware tool).
You should also check what processes are running in the background maybe one of this processes is related to the hub which cause your shut down problem

If you ever have the same problem, google the message 'The User Profile Service service failed the logon. I used the 1st method using regedit and changed the s-1-5 files in the profile list as explained.

  • Satellite P750-11W - Backlit keyboard for this model

    Hello.
I recently boughty a Satellite P750-11W. I thought that the keyboard was backlit, but I was wrong. I bought it in Spain where I am working at the moment. Have you got one of this model with backlit keyboard? If not the same model (not 11W), any P750 with backlit keyboard?
    Thank you,
    Regards, Greg.

    Hello
Satellite P750-11W has no backlit keyboard thats right but there are many other Satellite P750 models with backlit keyboard.
I have checked the Toshiba page and for example Satellite P750-10Q has backlit keyboard:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-P750-10Q/1105926/
If you want a backlit keyboard get in contact with an authorized service provider. The guys can order all original Toshiba spare parts and exchange them. Another user has already exchanged the keyboard with a backlit one:
