Satellite P750 - black screen, freezing, crashes while gaming

Hi, I've had my P750 not for long and i am getting a few issues with games.
Most of the newest games like NFS RUN, BF3 or FEAR 3,show a black screen in game, freeze and then crash will i play the game (2-10 minutes).
Other games like BLACK OPS, ASSASINS CREED REVELATIONS and SAINTS ROW THE THIRD, freeze and i have to press ctrl + alt + del. to continue the game again.......im really dissapointed by Toshiba, because although i was told that this laptop was suitable for gaming, instead i only get crashes!
I havent overclocked it, the NVIDIA drivers are the latest (285.62) same as DirectX
Ive seen similar posts on this forum, but no serious solutions. Please help!!

On Toshiba European driver page you can find the nVida driver v 267.44
Did you test this driver?
I found also some modified drivers on laptopvideo2go.com page but the usage of such drivers is your own risk and not sure if they would work properly.

Happened on my old PC and this is a brand new one. Hang intervals seem to happen like clock work and last the same amount each time. Task manager shows FF as not responding during that time. Turning off hardware acceleration has helped with black screen to crash but the constant pausing when scrolling is driving me bonkers. Here are they last reports sent to you. • MSI R9 290 Gaming 4GB Black Screen/Freeze Issue

    Hello All,
I just received my new MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming. 4GB. It freezes/locks up upon booting into windows. If I do not install the drivers. It does not lock up. As soon as I install any driver, it goes to a black screen, and locks up. I have read the forums, and see a few other people have reported this issue. I have tried the following AMD Catalyst drivers 14.7(beta), 14.1, 13.2. All still have the same issue. I have tried installing the driver manually(via device manager) with out the CCC. I have also tried the native drivers from MSI's website. still same issue. Not sure what else to do here. I am using a CoolerMaster RS-850Watt power supply. Windows 8.1 Pro. Here are the rest of the details of my setup. Anyone know of a fix for this issue?

Hey guys, thanks for trying to help. I ended up going back to the retailer. memory express. They determined that the card was DOA. They exchanged it and provided me a new card. New card has no issues. thank you for the help.

  • GTX580 Twin Frozr II OC: Crashing while gaming

I have a GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC. My computer crash randomly while gaming. The screen turns black and the computer restarts.  It happens on different games. I have the latest bios on my motherboard and video card (70.10.17.00.01). I have also tried many different drivers. Currently I have the latest installed (320.49).
I have tried decreasing the core clock from 800 to 772 and increasing the Core voltage from 1025, 1038 and 1050, as well as different combinations of those.
    Config:
    Core i5 2500K @ 4.4Ghz
    Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB @ 1600Mhz, 2 DIMMS (1.65V, 9/9/9/27)
    ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional
    Corsair HX 850W
    GTX580 Twin Frozr II OC
    2TB WD Black Caviar
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    Single Monitor
    The S/N is 602-V255-01SB1102013982.
This is my bios http:// www .mediafire.com/?o6p4wf0prxa6tv5
    Thanks!

The card came overclocked from factory. I decreased the clocks to the Nvidia default. The core clock to 772, Shader clock to 1544 and Memory clock to 2004. I also increased the core voltage to 1038.
The idle temperature is 38 C and at full load it goes to 82 C maximum.
Still, with all this, it still crashes now and then, but much less frequently.

  • Mac Pro increasingly frequent screen freezes / crashes

    Hi,
Freezes on my MacPro are becomming increasingly frequent - I need to work out what the problem is as it's making the machine unusable. If anyone is having similar problems or has found a fix, please post here.
The issue that I am seeing is that suddenly the keyboard and mouse stop responding and the screen freezes. At first it's as if I've lost sight of the mouse pointer since the screen looks OK, but then I notice the keyboard has stopped working too. The little clock in the corner of the screen stops updating. It's not possible to quit or force quit anything. It sounds like the hard drives are doing something. I am able to SSH in to the machine while hung but not able to reboot it or shut it down (it just errors).
The only thing that enables me to recover my machine is to press and hold the power button for about 10secs until it powers off. Then I can power it up again and it works fine. If I run disk utility after reboot it doesn't find any issues.
I've not been able to find any link between the software I'm running - it just happened this evening about 7 minutes after booting when iTunes was the only open application.
It's a 2.8Ghz dual quad core pro with the 8800, 10G RAM, 4 drives, bluetooth keyboard and a wireless logitech mouse. I just put new batteries in the keyboard, have had 3 more crashes since. It has Airport but it is switched off. The only things plugged in to the USB / Firewire are an ACD monitor, an APC UPS and the reciver for the USB Mouse. All of it has been working fine with no hardware changes since delivery (for about 6-7 months). The only thing I've changed on the hardware in the last 6 months is I added a 4th drive last week, but the crashes had started before then. I'm running 10.5.4. Apart from this issue it's a fantastic machine, but with this issue it's like having a ferrari that stalls every few hundred yards.
is anyone else having similar crashes? If so, please post details of spec of machine and sofware / hardware in use when it happens so that we can try and work out what is causing them and fix it.
    many thanks,
    Rog.

Run Disk Warrior. Don't just restart and use the verify option in Disk Utility, boot from another drive.
RAM. USB devices. almost anything should be suspect.
Try setting up an emergency boot drive. OS X doesn't repair itself all that well, Disk Utility doesn't find as many errors, or fix, as 3rd party tools.
I would delete extensions.mkext and caches folders (not home caches), turn off journaling before repair, then turn on after. And run all the tests in Disk Warrior or other program, not just directory rebuild, scan all the files too.

  • Satellite c670 black screen

I have a Satellite c670 that's a year and half old. I just used it and slammed the lid shut..not that hard but hard enough that when I opened it back up there was a dreaded black screen, no curser ..nothing. When I shut the lid I was transferring photos to my laptop, so that's the only thing that was in my computer at the time a 8gb memory card. Nothing was in the cd drive. I was plugged in to the wall. I got it to the point where I'm at the windows boot manager screen and it's keeps saying:
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and the restart your computer.
If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
    status: Oxc00000e9
Info: an unexpected I/O error has occurred.
I have tried everything to make this work. I made sure the hard drive was in tightly (it was). I check the memory and that was in tight and I also checked the CD-ROM and that was in securely. I have tried turning it off with out the battery, I turned it on and off with the ESC button. I have tried everything that I can and now I'm looking for major help. I have everything on my computer for university and no I haven't back it up in a long while...booo to me! Someone please help!!!! Thanks

remove the sd card and anything else connected to the laptop.  do a power reset.  remove battery and unplug the charger, then hold down the start button for 10 sec.  reinstall battery and connect charger.  start up computer and spam (continuously hit) the f8 key.  if lucky, you will be presented with the option to boot into safe mode.  select and let it boot up.  when done, do a normal shutdown.  then, try to do a nornal boot up.  post back results.

  • Pink Screen Freeze & Crash - HP Desktop

    Hi,
Hopefully someone here can help me. I have a HP Pavilion m9065uk Desktop and I am  having problems and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Over the last month or so I have been having a problem with it the PC crashing, at first it started when booting up, it would get as far as the Microsoft loading bar then just a black screen and nothing. I would reboot and it would boot up fine, but then started freezing with a pink screen, then after a few minutes either go to black screen or nothing happening at all. Sometimes it starts to restart up then fails to start and startup repair comes up but sometimes fails.  I changed the power supply back in March, but I dont believe if this has anything to do with it, the supply is the same as the original.
I googled the boards and it was suggested that the nvidia graphics card might be the problem. so reinstalled the drivers and then tried updating the drivers and its still the same problem. The reason I say i suspect the graphics card is that sometimes when the problem originally began I would get an error message saying that "display driver failed and recovered".
Is this a problem with the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT card? There is no Integrated graphics card on the PC when a graphics card is installed.
The PC will work for a day or 2 then the same pink screen crash occurs, now all of a sudden it wont boot up, keeps going to launch startup repair, which does not work. I can boot up to safe mode only.
Hopefully someone would be able to point me in the right direction. I dont want to have to go changing the motherboard or worse still pay for a new PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, O

    Hi,
Is this HP PC the same as yours?  It might be the video card or a weak power supply. Try reseating the video card and see if that makes a difference.  Take a can of compress air and blow out all of the dust from CPU heat sink and the fan on the video card.  See if that makes a difference.
You could try removing the video card and connect the monitor using a VGA cable to the integrated video port on the back of your PC. Hopefully your monitor has a VGA port and you have a VGA cable.  The integrated video adapter is Intel so you will have to update the video driver.  Look here for the update.

  • Black screen after login while on battery with graphics switching enabled

Getting a black screen after entering my password while logging into my account while on battery with graphics switching enabled. Everything is up and running, I just can't see it.
I can log into the guest account on battery
I can log into my account while plugged into power
I can log into my account on battery if graphics switching is disabled
I believe something that is starting up in my account is causing the system to switch from integrated to discrete graphics on login, and that switch isn't working correctly on battery power.
As a work around for now, I can run with graphics switching disabled, but I'd like to solve this so I get longer battery life.
    MacBook Pro Retina 15"
    Mountain Lion
    All updates applied

I had the same issue and managed to reslove it.
    Shut down your machine.
Power it back on while holding the 'shift' key (left or right, doesn't matter)
You will see a greay progress bar go across the screen while you boot in to 'safe boot'
Once booted, login, and go to Energy Saver and turn on 'Automatic Graphics Switching'.
Reboot back in to normal mode, and you should be able to log back in and see again.
I did this without being plugged into AC power.
    Hope it helps!
    Cheers!

  • MOVED: R9 290X Lightning - Black screen freezing

This topic has been moved to Graphics Cards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=254587.0

So I decided to RMA the card a few days ago. I'd been running perfectly on the integrated graphics while I waited for my replacement. I just recently installed it and it worked great... for about 5 minutes and then I got a black screen accompanied by the gpu fans blowing full speed. I immediately shut off the pc and have not been able to boot with the card anymore. Even if it's all installed and properly plugged in it is not recognized in windows and won't show up at all in the bios board explorer (says PCIe slot is empty). At this point I'm thinking it might be the motherboard but the card also refuses to work on other setups. I've also tried different power supplies with no success. At this point I'm thinking of just trashing this card and going with an nvidia since my friend's card (gtx960) works fine on my pc.

  • Frequent blank screen/freezes/crashes with OSX Mountain Lion

I updated to OSX Mountain Lion a few weeks ago. Now, after startup, my computer continuously gets slower with the number of applications that have been opened (even if I have closed them after I'm done with them) until it finally goes to a black screen where I can only see/move the mouse but nothing else- I don't even get the SBBOD. Ultimately I shut it down because its unresponsive. After rebooting, it most often tells me the culprit applications are either Safari or Adobe Reader, but occassionally its others like MS Word, iPhoto, and R. I'd like to think my system is powerful enough not be slowed down by such trivial applications (15" MBP Early 2011, 2.3 GHz i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). On a side note, I've upgraded to both OSX Lion and then OSX Mountain Lion without ever doing a clean install- if that may be an aggravating factor? I thought disk space might be an issue so I downloaded MacKeeper to clean up my HD. While it recovered a lot of space on my HD by removing duplicates it hasn't done anything to improve this situation. I've also used the disk utility to repair disk permissions and repair disk. Any ideas? Should I call Apple?
    Other symptoms:
-iStatpro and other items on dashboard screen are always extremely delayed
-I can tell its going to happen soon when pressing command+space doesn't open the spotlight menu. But when I look over to iStat it says its running at normal T, fans are turning fast, and there ~3-4 GB RAM free...

Keynote freezes/crashes every time while exporting a file as a QuickTime file. Is this a bug or something with the size of the file? It's a 7.6MB file.
Should I re-install keynote? I have it on 2 machines and it does the same thing on both.

  • Is my memory bad?  Screen Freezes - Crashes

Hello, I have a macbook early 2008 or so...  I bought it with 2GB, last year I bought 2 2GB memories from MacRam to upgrade my macbook and i am having issues with the memory, I think.  I think was able to isolate the one that gives me issues, and I am not an expert.  I ran AHT and REMBER and in both the memory appears good.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?  When i send the ram back to MacRam, they will test the memory and most likely the memory will be returned back because the memory will pass the test too.
Any ideas of what could case this freeze/crash?  Would this be a result of static?
The following screen freezes are happening:
    and

If you take out the MacRam memory, and put back in the original memory, do you still have the problem? That would help isolate cause and effect.
When you ran the AHT did you run the extended test?

I have the same problem with this Satellite L645-S4102.  No Toshiba splash logo on startup.  Just a black screen.  There were BSOD problems before I got this laptop but I can't even get the laptop to bootup to even try and repair it.  The laptop is out of warranty.  On startup, it checks for usb bootable or DVD bootable disc (lights come on, but that's it).  any help would be greatly appreciated.  I tried taking out the batteries and leaving it for over an hour, held the power button to drain any static electricity, then put the lithium battery and laptop battery in  and still get the same results.
