Satellite P775 shuts down when temperature is too high

hello,
I have a toshiba laptop Satellite P775 more than 3 years.
I paid a lot of money for this laptop.
So each time it get too hot laptop that falls immediately.
So yesterday I had my laptop completely disassembled, what a job. but realized that all my fan was clogged with dust. *So problem solved.*
I think this is dangerous because of fire or am I wrong?
There was a dust layer of 5 cm by 1 cm.
Is this normal for this laptop?
Do not think so because it was really an effort to get there.
Sorry for my bad english, a happy 2014.
thnx, greating .

Thank you so much for this photo. I really hope that many forum users will see it and realize how much dust can be found inside of notebook.
On this forum a lot of people have problems with overheating and notebook switch offs.
Last year I have disassembled my machine too and was surprised how many dust I found inside.
The dust is not dangerous because of fire but it can be dangerous for notebook hardware. Due to critical hardware temperature hardware can be damaged.
Im pretty sure your notebook will run perfectly and much quieter than before.
Bye and good luck.

  • Satellite P20-932 shuts down because temperature is too high

When I use my Satellite P20-932 for about 30 min, the temperature increases very quick! The laptop is turning-off automatic, without any error message.
I try to clean ventilator on the bottom of the laptop.
    I'm really desperate.
    Please help me!

Its a simply case of overheating.
The notebook shuts down automatically to prevent the notebook from the damage. It seems the temperature has increased to the critical level.
I assume the notebook is a little bit older and the cooling modules and the fans inside the notebook cannot run properly because of the dust and debris.
The cleaning of the cooling modules is a great idea but you should be careful.
If you have no experience, asks a technician for the professional cleanup.
Additional you should be sure that there is enough free space around the notebook. Its important for the properly air circulation.

  • Satellite A300 shuts down when the power adapter plug is inserted

    Hi people
When i connect power cable to my toshiba sat a300, it shuts down immediatly. I can use it on battery normally without any problems.
When i boot in the safe mode, it works properly without any problem with the AC Adapter connected to the Notebook.
    OS is Windows Vista
What is the reason? what i can do to solve this problem?
    Thanks

I can start the Notekook with the AC Adapter plugged, but it turns off before to reach the Welcome Screen or reboot. I tried straight to install Windows 7 with a another HDD . As soon as only the installation files are loaded, the system starts again. I do not reach times the beautiful blue window, of where the actual installation can be started.

  • My Satellite laptop (A305) shuts down when run on the AC charger/adapter

The problem is that my Toshiba _A300 series laptop (A305) shuts down when you try to run it on the AC charger/adapter_. You can boot it with the power cord plugged in and it will get to Windows Desktop and maybe a few minutes more at most before shutting off.
It will boot and _run from battery without problem_, but if you plug in the AC while it is up and running on battery the machine will normally click off instantly and reboot to the message "Windows was not shut down correctly."
The _AC adapter works fine_ reading a steady 19.19 to 19.20 volts with a voltmeter. It also _charges the battery fine when the computer is off_. I have two Toshiba brand batteries and they both work fine.
One interesting thing is that the _computer runs fine on AC when in safe mode_.
I _did a reformat/factory restore_ of Vista to assure it was not software and drivers, and still got the same problem before any external devices had been plugged in.
It has the latest BIOS and I tried resetting it to default values in case anything had gotten changed. It made no difference.
This is _not a heating issue_ because _while it is run on battery I can watch long videos_ without it shutting off. I ran compressed air through the vents just to make sure, but it makes no difference in behavior. Usually with an overheating shut-off, the computer cannot be started until it has cooled some, but these shutdowns are accompanied by an instant reboot.
I have seen on some threads that this type of problem one can work around by disabling one of the processors in Device Manager, but I don't think that is much of a lasting solution or good for the computer.
Has anyone seen this problem before and have you come with a full diagnosis of the problem and a real solution?

I have Satellite A300 and until now everything works OK.
I would like to know what happen when you remove the battery and use notebook with power supply only. Does notebook shuts down again.
If not let OS run and put the battery.
Is the battery recognized properly? Does notebook switch off again?
To be honest I cannot imagine this issue has something with software or background processes. Recovery image you got with your notebook is designed for this certain notebook mode. Recovery image is tested and I dont think preinstalled OS has anything to do with this.
    Full diagnosis?
And how to do this? You know very well that diagnosis can be done with diagnostic tools only and such tools have services only. I hope you will find answers but Im 99% sure there is nothing you can do about that. Maybe you should contact service, explain the situation and ask for help.

I shut down when an upgrade was taking too long yesterday, now Itunes will not open today

    Hello James,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
From what you are describing, I have 2 recommendations. First, troubleshoot for 3rd party plugins that may be causing an issue after the interrupted update:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
If the issue persists after followign the article, I would next download iTunes from the download page, and install it.

  • HT201401 IPhone often shuts down when it's comes about a 15 - 20 percent

IPhone often shuts down when it's comes about a 15 - 20 percent,
And when trying to turn it on appears on the screen there is a need to plug in (to charge).
After connecting to charger (after 5 seconds or so) the device turns on as if nothing had happened, and continues to work regular

That might occur if you're using the iPhone in low temperatures as the battery decharges quickly in lower temps. If you're using the phone at a normal room temperature I have no idea why your phone shuts off at as high as 20%. Also, if you use your phone in too high temperature areas the battery lifespan will decrease. The more you
Anyway, at least one time a month you should run the iphone down to 0% (or as low as you can go) and then completly charge it. Don't do any 5 minute charges, just go from what ever percent you're at and run it down to zero then recharge to full.

  • Satellite A200 shuts down automatically

My Satellite A200 is less than 10 months old but it has started to just shut down all of a sudden without warning.
When I try to turn it back on it often doesn't reach the Vista screen before powering off again.
Interestingly, when I remove the charger cable it seems to be able to boot up and survive at least for a longer duration.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi
I think the notebook shuts down automatically due to a higher internal temperature.
The point is that such notebooks supports a overheating protection and if the temperature increases to a critical level, the notebook shuts down automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.
In most cases the air cannot circulate properly due to clogged cooling grilles and therefore the temperature increases to a higher level.
In my opinion the cooling ventilators should be cleaned up.
The compressed air spray is a professional tool which could helps you to get rid of dust and debris.

  • IMac shuts down when using Safari 2.0.4

My iMac shuts down when I visit certain websites such as Pogo or video sites. Took it to the Apple store and of course the problem wouldn't replicate there. They kept it to check out the scripts and logs to see if they could find a problem - without success; although they did suggest my house is haunted. Brought it home and it quit again.
We thought perhaps we were getting interference from other wireless devices and unplugged our cordless phone which worked for a day. The computer always turns back on so its more of an annoyance than a real problem, but I'm baffled.
It also happened once when I was downloading from the iTunes store, but is most prevalent with Safari.
We have wireless internet connected via ethernet to an Airport Express.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hi Barry -
Yes I do live near a ghost town (kinda) - Virginia City, NV. And I did tell any unwanted visitors to leave.
Actually, in the last year, they have replaced the Super drive, power supply, inverter and logic board. The only reason I'm not thinking power issues is that it only happens when I'm in Safari or iTunes. I would use Firefox except I've got java issues with that. I can (and do) use the machine for other things all day long without problems. I can use Safari all day long as long as I'm not playing on Pogo or certain video sites. Maybe Pogo is haunted?
It also doesn't happen on my husband's iMac on the other side of the house. Is there something that could cause enough interference to actually make the machine shut down? Oh, the antennae for the satellite TV and internet are on the roof directly above me, if that would have anything to do with it.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Battery doesn't charge AND frequent shut down when only on AC power

    Hello all,
I've spent some time browsing and searching this forum to avoid asking a question that has already been answered but I haven't seen a complete answer to this situation so here goes.
I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 model 0768DKU.  Battery (P/N 92P1185) started not charging/not holding a change about 6-8 months ago AND the laptop now abruptly shuts down even when on AC power.  From the forum I found out about the 18 month battery replacement policy but I'm just a few months past the 18 months so out of luck there.  Normally I would just buy a new battery but the last few months I've been getting very frequent shut downs when the laptop is exclusively on AC power even with the battery removed!  This has kept me from buying a battery because the laptop won't stay on even when it's plugged into the wall then how will a battery help?
This has really thrown me for a loop since the laptop may run 30 minutes then it's dead like you pulled the power cord.  Turn it back on maybe 10 minutes then dead, or 5 minutes then dead repeat over and over.
Steps I've taken since browsing the forums:
    Virus scans/spyware are clean
Used compressed air on the fan vent to remove a little dust, opened up and sprayed out dust nothing major.
Speedfan is reporting cpu temperatures of 65C to 69C at 99% idle.
    Reseated memory
    Questions:
Would a new battery potentially solve this problem?  I'm not sure how since it shuts down even with the battery removed and only the power cord plugged in.
    Bad AC adapter?
Thermal problem?  It looks like the cpu is still below temperature ranges based on Intel but it sure seem like a thermal problem to me the way it shuts down.  I'm trying some new thermal grease tonight but not sure if that will realy make a difference.
Any suggestions, I'd hate for it to be motherboard, etc.
Sorry if this was answered elsewhere I've seen all the battery posts but not how the battery would address the fact the laptop shuts down even when on AC power with or without the battery installed.
    Thanks,
    Chad

Hard reset didn't work for me either, thanks for the tip it was worth a shot.
Thermal paste kept temps lower around 45C still suddenly shut off like usual while on AC power.  3, 5, minutes, etc.  Doesn't appear to be thermal.
Could the "bad" battery somehow be messing up the power circuit and cutting off.  Looks like the battery problem with these units is huge wish I'd been looking earlier since I was within the extended 18 month period at the time.  Just want to hear that someone bought a battery and it fixed the problem....

My iTunes software shuts down when I try to play a video from my iTunes Library or from the iTunes Store site. I have backed up the library and have tried to reinstall iTunes, but when I did the entire library reappeared and the same problem exists. My Quicktime does work and iDVD, too, with home movies, other online streaming and DVDs, So I'm sure that the problem is with iTunes.

  • GRMG shutting down and last measurement too old

    Hi
I have a few problems with the GRMG. I am trying to implement the best "J2EE down" monitor.
    1) Scenario shutting down
When the webserver/j2ee that is checked is down (not responsing at all, like for instnace in the first minutes after system start), the GRMG shuts the scenario down (red cross) - should it not keep running and report an unavailability instead ?
When shutting scenario down, the "status" or "availability" of the GRMG-http service remains green until the value becomes obsolete, so I can't use any of these to for alerting (alone at least).
From what I see, i need to use 2 MTE's to report j2ee down, something like: If GRMG-selfmonitor-scenario executed = ok then (if HTTP-status not OK then ALERT) else ALERT - not very attractive..
    2) Measurements too old
Every so often, I get a heartbeat alert on the "status" MTE of the HTTP service, due to no data received within the specified amount of seconds (420 in my current setup). This happens perhaps 2 or 3 times pr 24 hours. This means two things, a) faulty alerts due to service is running OK and b) unreliable monitoring, since it takes too long to discover service down.
I see the method is GRMG_TRIGGER which calls GRMG_START_SCENARIOS - but I can't figure out who / what decides how often to do the actual measurements...? Should be every minute IMO, and I tried to set the MTE to be called every 60 seconds, but this does not make any difference...
    Any hints ? thanks

    Dear Per,
There are two aspects to GRMG Availability Monitoring,
1 is the GRMG Infrastructure, which is parto f your CCMS hence I believe the global settings you are looking for might be in the CCMS parameters.
2 Is the GRMG Application which performs the actual monitoring. (JSP, BSP or servlet)
The GRMG Infrastructure simply sends an http request to this application which has a defined interface and the response is displayed in your CCMS Heartbeat monitor.
The GRMG application runs separately than the component itself so you can find out if the application is malfunctioning or the GRMG agent itself has issues.
Please go to this link for appropriate setting up of GRMG

  • Safari shuts down when booking flights

Everytime I try to book a flight, Safari shuts down when it's trying to go to the page where it calculates the tax on the flights I have selected. I have no problem with any other pages or sites but I just can't get past this step.
Is this a compatibility problem with aircanada.com and Safari or a problem with my browser specifically?
I recently ran an update on my Adobe software (PhotoShop & In Design). Could this be causing it because I always seem to encounter quirks like this when I run updates? My mail was also incessantly asking for my password each time it checked for mail for two days but that seems to have corrected itself (I did go into Utilities>Passwords and reset them but it still occured for a day and now it's fine)
Any light you can shed on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated - I want to go home for the holidays!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hiya,
Any light you can shed on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated - I want to go home for the holidays!
In the meantime, download a secondary browser to get your flight booked:
    Camino
    Firefox
    Opera
    OmniWeb
It crashes for me too when selecting the USA version of the site, and trying to book, say, Boston to Toronto.
From the crash it looks like a problem with the WebKit framework Safari uses for the drawing of webpages and would require a patch from the developers to work (or aircanada to change something on their site, I don't claim to know what however...).
