Satellite P870 - Touchpad scrolling issues

I have a P870 (PSPLFA-019001)
I have been having trouble with the touchpad. If I move the touchpad anywhere the screen scrolls vertically (not just on the right scroll bar) and the mouse is stationary. When I touch the trackpad underneath the clickable buttons it somehow disables scrolling so I can move the mouse.
I have gone to control panel mouse options and:
* can not take off vertical scrolling [Pic|http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties_zps7d8e2841.png|Pic][Pic|http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties_zps7d8e2841.png|Pic Vertical Scrolling]
* have disabled scrolling and most other trackpad gestures. [Pic|http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties2_zps40a5d713.png|Disabled Options]
* I have tried F5 to disable/enable the mouse. no change
I don't know what to do now. Please Help! I also uploaded a (bad) video to show you what's happening. It was hard to show one handed. [Video link|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MEikPtlgcQ|Touchpad]

The main thing is that problem is solved. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Yoga ThinkPad Touchpad Scrolling Issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Yoga ThinkPad upgrade to Windows 10.  My horizontal area at the bottom of the Touchpad scrolls the screen up and down, and the right vertical area of the Touchpad scrolls the screen left to right.  The reverse direction choices only reverse up/down or left/right and not how the horizontal/vertical areas operate. Did anyone else experience this?  Thanks.

    Good day.
Could you clarify which model Yoga laptop you have, please?

  • Satellite A210 touchpad scrolling disabled after Windows Vista update

Last week I accepted a Microsoft Windows update. Sine that update I can not get the Satellite to recognise its touchpad and the only driver updates that work are for a standard PS2 mouse. I can no longer use the bottom and side scroll features of the Toshiba touchpad. What drive am I looking for to rstore the touchpad please?

You can find the Touchpad driver here: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Firstly remove the driver from Control Panel -> Programs and Features
Then download and install the latest version.
If you have Logitech mouse drivers or other 3rdparty mouse/keybiard drivers installed, remove those as well.

  • Satellite P870 touchpad is huge, any way to reduce the active region?

    Hi,
I have P870. The touchpad is huge and is off-centre.
When I type my thumb naturally touches the touchpad intermitently.
When this happens the mouse pointer gets clicked into a different paragraph (or even window) and everything I type goes to the wrong place.
Is there a tool to reduce the active region of the touchpad?
I would like to disable about an inch of the left edge - I never use it except by accident.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Please check this:
    Go to:
Control panel -> mouse -> advanced tab -> advanced feature settings button
Here in Touch Pad settings click on Setting button.
Now go to Inertial Movement area and decrease the movement area.
I think this is what you are looking for

  • Satellite A200 - Touchpad sensitivity issue

    Hi.
Suddenly my touchpad has developed a mind of its own.
If I hover on something for a couple of seconds it is as though I have clicked on it.
It's really annoying as I've been deleting things I don't want to delete, selecting programs I don't want to select etc.etc.
I have looked at the Synaptics settings & can't find anything that may resolve the problem, although I am totally thick when it comes to anything like this.
If anyone can offer a solution which even I can understand I will be really, truly grateful.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi
All touchpad settings that you can change or adjust you can find in control panel > Mouse. If this is not enough for you, you can only contact an authorized service provider for help.
Alternative you use an external mouse as Andrej wrote. To be honest I only use an external mouse because its more comfortable as the touchpad in my opinion.

  • Windows 8.1 upgrade issues on Satellite P870 - PSPLFA

    Hi there,
For better or worse over the weekend I have downloaded windows 8.1 onto a toshiba laptop (p870 PSPLFA model) that was running windows 8. Video card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB with Optimus + Intel HD Graphics 4000
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p870/psplfa-019001/specifications
    couple of issues:
    (a) I am having a few problems getting windows 8.1 to work properly on this laptop and can't get/find new drivers from the toshiba website to sort out the video card properly.
Any ideas of how or when I can download video drivers that are suitable for this laptop?
Not overly keen on uninstalling and rolling back to windows 8 now that I have gone this far...
I have a call in yesterday with microsoft yesterday that seems to be going nowhere to fix a couple of other things following this upgrade.
    (b) On the windows 8.1 machine my internet connection when running IE11
now seems a bit flaky and suspect this is a internet explorer 11/windows 8.1 issue (other laptops on my wireless network running windows 7 and XP are working fine and not dropping out as well as can access all the info I can't on the win 8.1 machine) which seems to be a bit of a common issues looking at some other forums and
    (c) I can't download or open files from google docs (screen just freezes most of the way through the download) on the upgraded windows 8.1 machine.
    Any help appreciated,
    Ken

    Hi
Your notebook belongs to the PSPLFA series. This series was released in Australian
The same notebook series PSPLFE is available in Europe.
On the Toshiba EU driver page you will find all Win 8.1 update drivers
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
_Importnat:_ the Win 8.1 drivers have to be installed in the right order!
Check the installation instruction which is available in the driver list too and follow exact this order!

  • Scrolling Issue with Yoga 3 Pro

    Hi guys,
Got myself a yoga 3 pro and i really like it! It has got a few issues though... The one currently frustrating me the most is shown in the following video:
    Scrolling Issue
Google Chrome somehow doesn't work well on this laptop. As you can see the UI renders in funny angles, then sometimes even stays like that after scrolling. But this mostly just happens while scrolling and then when the scrolling is complete, it renders fine again, particularly on longer webpages and PDF's. Also the scrolling itself is very laggy and sometimes not responsive, although this might also be the touchpad not reacting that well - I have to say i had a macbook pro before this and that touchpad is unbeatable (the rest is **bleep** hehe).
I couldnt reproduce the same issues on Internet Explorer (somehow no surprise, it being a windows thing and all). Firefox has laggy scrolling but almost no rendering issues of the same kind (when used heavily, it also happens though). When used heavily (high cpu usage) i even experienced this issue briefly in the windows explorer.
Now I'm not just here to complain, as I said before the laptop is great in general, just hoping there is a solution or awareness regarding the scrolling issue.
    Thank you.
    Regards

Haven't seen that on my Y3P, *but* I agree that the trackpad is just horrible compared with Mac trackpads, or even with the Logitech T650. As for Chrome, indeed it works OK with touch but not so great with the trackpad. In general, IE works better, looks nicer, and uses less power---but it's noticeably slower.

  • Toshiba Satellite P870 upgraded to Win 8.1 does not boot

I have a Toshiba Satellite P870 with Win 8 preinstalled. Soon after upgrade to Win 8.1 and basically successful removal of “watermark error” (secure boot activated) the machine stopped booting completely: after pressing the power button ventilator sound
is heard with periodically changing loudness as well as clicking sound from the speakers. The screen stays black. Attempts to start the PC through pressing F2 or zero buttons did not produce any result. Neither did I succeed with recovery discs I created before:
the system simply does not boot from the disk. It looks like I tried all options offered by Microsoft and Toshiba. I would be happy to roll back to factory settings.
Could someone give me hint what to do next?

    Hi,
For the issue, let us know how to remove the “watermark error".
Meanwhile, I would like to confirm if you could access the BIOS.
I suggest you update the BIOS version to test it.
If you want to repair the startup issue, you should use windows 8.1 recovery discs or installation discs.
Meanwhile, if you cannot access the BIOS, it may be caused by hardware, I suggest you contact the Toshiba manufacturer for further help.

  • Satellite P870-026 Win 8.1 - no mirror screen to TV using Intel WiDi

I have followed the Windows procedures to mirror my Satellite P870-026 screen to a new Samsun TV with mirroring capability.
The process is under the Charms menu and then to select Devices, Project, Add a Wireless Display. The first few times I tried, it found the TV but it usually came up with the message "No devices found".
If it did find the TV it didn't project the laptop's screen and the connection would drop out quickly. Now, it never finds the TV.
My Galaxy S3 phone connects and mirrors its screen very quickly and is a stable connection, so the TV is working fine. The TV is the current model Samsung UA60H7000AW.
As I understand the issue might stem from the graphics drivers, I've updated the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers but that did nothing.
I downloaded "Intel(R) WiDi Update Tool.exe" but it won't run. An error message says "Failed to launch due to network connectivity issue". I have no idea what his means as I never have trouble with WiFi.
I did find one suggestion on the internet, but relating to a different computer, and was to delete and reinstall the graphics drivers but it also warned of the need to be very careful.
Am I even going down the right path looking as the graphics drivers?
    Any suggestions please.
    Hans

Thanks for the Toshiba notice. Working through the Resolution section, my laptop doesn't have "Intel Wireless Display" in its programs listing so there is noting to delete. The method to then connect a wireless display is the procedure I've been following but results in "No Devices Found".
    According to:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-8/project-wireless-screen-miracast
my laptop does have Miracast as I do get the Add Device option so it should work. I seem to be back to square 1.

  • HELP - Library Left pane scroll issues ( when in grid view )

I've run into a issue that is really starting to piss me off and hinder my workflow!
When in Library mode grid view, I can't scroll left folder/publish service with my mouse scroll wheel. UNLESS I'm hovering over the scroll bar.  If I'm hovering over a folder, I can't scroll ( VERY annoying )
now this is where it gets weird, when in loupe / thumbnail view, I can scroll the left pane fine with no issues.  Also, scrolling the left or right pane in Develop mode with no issues as well.
Also, it seems like the when scrolling the right pane in Library view is a bit flakey ( it scrolls, but pauses at some places )
I've read THIS thread, but I dont have any of that type of software on my PC.
I've tried 3 different mice with no fix.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
    thanks

@sjmphoto0300: I have a Dell XPS 15 502X laptop (running Win 7 Home) and had the same scrolling issue as you in LR 3.6 when in the Library module only (the Develop module sidebar scrolling works fine). I could not scroll using my touchpad on the left or right pane unless my cursor was directly over either thin grey scroll bar or on the actual sidebar headings (e.g. "Catalog," "Folders," or "Quick Develop"). Mousing over the latter would only enable me to scroll until the cursor was no longer over the heading which was pretty useless.
I have Synaptics TouchPad v7.4 installed. While I don't have an option in my Mouse properties to specify certain programs that don't scroll properly as mentioned in another post, I did find a solution that works for me!
I had to do TWO things to get scrolling in the sidebars working properly:
    1) In this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3888114#3888114) it was mentioned that the Synaptics scrolling graphic that appears (see screenshot below) interferes with scrolling and the scrolling graphic can be disabled with a registry tweak and then restart the Synaptics applications (2) or reboot.
    2) Right-click an empty spot on the desktop and go to Personalize > Change Mouse Pointers > Device Settings (Synaptics logo on tab) > Settings. Click on Scrolling on the left of the Synaptics Properties window > Scroll item under pointer. Click Enable.
That got sidebar scrolling working without having to keep the cursor hovering above the skinny scrollbars. It seems like the Synaptics software doesn't recognize what area is always scrollable in Lightroom when "Scroll selected item" is selected.
Hope this helps someone else out there.

  • NB100 touchpad scroll bar stops working after exit full screen mode youtube

I have few Toshiba laptops, satellite, and now netbook100.
All of them share one problem, touchpad scroll bar:
It will stop working after exit full screen mode in youtube.
Here is how to reproduce the incident:
    1. using any mainstream browser, start playing a youtube video, click full screen button at the bottom right corner of the video.
    2. click on the [cross] to exit the full screen mode. (next to full screen button.)
    3. check if you scroll bar still functioning.
    4. a reboot will restore the function.
Currently, Im on vista, I believe in XP you will have the same problem.
Searching in google (touchpad scroll bar stops full screen youtube) will return more people share the same question but no answer.
Environments: win xp all, win vista all.
Windows all most updated driver, touch pad driver up to date.
This is not a major tech problem but for a netbook, this is very annoying.
If anyone have this problem or answers, please share it here.
    Thank you in advance.
    regards.

I had the exact same problem on my laptop and after a lot of searching, I finally found the simplest solution that really works for me so here goes:
Once you exit the full screen video and the scroll pad has stopped working, click once anywhere on the youtube page(just to unfocus from the video) and press the spacebar button on your keyboard twice.
Et voila, your scroll pad should be working again. Beats the hassle of having to log off everytime.
    Hope this helps

  • Scrolling issue on HP Pavilion DV7-4270

RE: HP Pavilion DV7-4270; Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
    Scrolling issue:
As my finger reaches the bottom edge of the Synaptics Touch Pad, I lift finger to begin scrolling at top of touchpad again, but it will not scroll until I tap on the touchpad.  Tapping was not necessary in the past to begin scrolling again. This occurs in one-finger and two-finger scrolling. It states the latest driver (15.3.29.0 from October 2011) is installed.
Maybe there is a conflict with Microsoft and Logitech software for the external mice. If so, this is the only conflict.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for such a quick reply, unfortunately, disabling tapping did not correct the scrolling issue. Any other suggestions?

  • G50-70 touchpad/scroll?

I have some issues with touchpad scroll option, like there`s no one finger scroll option as most laptops have it, latest drivers TouchPad Driver (Elan, Synaptics) 17.0.14.74/11.4.31.1 are installed on windows 7 x64 with no errors and works ok .. but, it confuses me when I looked:
    http://tinyurl.com/mmzdnue
..so, where is the one finger scroll option?.. is there any older driver with that option?
    thanks for any advice!

    I'm having the same problem.
Every once in a while, my touchpad just goes crazy. I've had the laptop for 3 months and it's been doing it since the first day. I haven't had a chance to send it in to have service techs look at it yet because I need it for school, but it's really starting to become a problem.
When the erratic movement starts, I can touch the pad to try to move the pointer to a certain location, but the pointer just goes crazy. And it usually ends up zooming in on whatever program/website I am using.
Reinstalling the touchpad driver did nothing to help the problem. In fact, as I just tried to move my pointer to "Post," it happened again!
