Satellite P875-319 and Second Disk Drive

Hello, I have one question. Does P875-319 has slot for second disk drive?

Hi
Please check this:
+Toshiba Satellite P870, P875 - Hard Disc Drive Replacement Procedure+
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU2603C90000R01.htm
After the memory slot cover has been removed, you will see two HDD bays.
There is a primary HDD bay and secondary HDD/SDD bay
But not all P875 unit support the HDD controller for the 2nd HDD bay.
In such case 2nd HDD is not possible so check if an connector is available.

  • Open second disk drive

My top disk drive opens fine with the eject key. However, I cannot get the second one to open. I've tried the apple key, option, control, F12 and combinations of all but only the top drive will open and shut. How do I get that bottom one open?

Option-Eject only works on the top drive
Below is what it says in System profiler about drives. So I have two...I'll get someone to look for the loose cable.

Shoudl I use ICloud instead or another way ?
I have not tried iCloud for this...and understand that it is mainly for your backups. These link might help:

Or, you could post in the iPad support area since that is really what your question is about.

  • G570: CD/DVD and Hard Disk drives not recognized

I have a Lenovo G570 laptop. It used to run fine until it started taking longer and longer boot into windows. Soon the computer would not boot into windows and instead try to repair windows, which would finish but never actually repair the computer. Soon after that the CD/DVD drive dissapeard from the BIOS, and it hasn't been able to do anything with a CD except for twirl it around (but not let it read any of that beautiful data.) Soon after this the hard disk was no longer recognized. I have been able ot get the computer to boot off of a linux live flash drive, but that's only a temporary fix. I wasn't able to reach any hard disks thorugh linux to back up files, and the CD drive wasn't recognized either. How can I fix this? Thank you for reading this.

    hi argiflex,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
AFAIK, if the HDD/ODD isn't recognized under BIOS then it's a sign that the device is already failing and needs to be replaced.  You can try using a 2.5" SATA Enclosure to read the drive via the USB port on the G570 or on another PC but if the problem remains then you may need to replace the drive.
If the data on the HDD is very important, you can opt to send the HDD to a professional data recovery firm (i.e. DriveSavers) to recover the data.

  • Photoshop software on disk and no disk drive

I've just received my adobe photoshop CS6 on disk and I'm waiting for my new MacBook Pro with retina display to arrive... Just realised it doesn't have a disk drive. Can I just transfer p'shop files to external hardrive and install it from there?

Use or borrow a Superdrive, You could make a DMG (disk image) on an external HD, however I cant recall if the strong copy protection disk will allow same.

  • Can you safely power off a Airport 5th generation and attached disk drive without risking data getting lost??

Can you safely power off a 5th generation AirPort and an attached disk drive without losing data?

I'd like to just be able to shut it down by tripping off the power strip the disk and airport are attached to with my toe so they're not sucking down power at night or when I'm at work.     I wouldn't mind a sequence of power down the computers on the net first and then 'toeing off' the AirPort+disk.
I'm just wondering how quickly between the time that I power off the mac that the airport would flush all of its buffers.

  • Getting Windows 7 to Boot from Second Disk Drive

Recently I purchased a solid state drive for my HP desktop.  The desktop is running 64 bit Windows 7 Premium (HP upgrade from Vista).
My goal is to have the operating system boot from the new SSD and not from the original hard drive.  I have done the following:
    1.  Installed SSD and plugged it into SATA slot 1 on motherboard.  The original drive remains in SATA slot 0.
    2.  Formatted SSD and assigned new drive letter "K" (next available) in Windows 7.
    3.  Using Acronis, I "recovered" a previous backup of the operating system onto the SSD including boot sector.
    3.  In BIOS, selected boot order for SSD to be ahead of original drive.
However, when starting Windows, the operating system is clearly running from the original drive, not the SSD.
    Questions:
    1.  In older operating systems, it mattered what SATA slot the "boot" drive was plugged into.  Should I have plugged the SSD into slot 0 on the motherboard instead of slot 1?  Does it matter with this PC and Windows 7?
    2.  Does the Windows 7 operating make calls to drive C without regard to where it boots from?  If yes, how do I rename the SSD to "C"?  (I'm thinking I should unplug the original drive from the motherboard altogether then try a rename).
    3.  Are there other issues I have not recognized?  Loading the OS from an SSD sounded so simple before I started!
All advice will be gratefully appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi, you will need to either change the drives bootup order in the BIOS or select it from the bootup menu at startup (press F9 I think). See this topic Re: HP Pavilion Elite e9180t Storage Upgrade in Desktop Hardware for more details. Good luck.
    Thanks,

  • Satellite L505D-S5965 and Recovery Disk Creater

I did a clean install of windows 7 when I upgraded and no longer have the Toshiba recovery disk creator.
I can still boot the HDD recovery tool I did not delete this partition when I upgraded. I would like to be able to create a recovery disk for my system in case anything ever happened to my Hard Drive.
Where can I download he Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator tool? Is there another way for me to get a recovery Disk?

    Wait a moment.
I believe with your answers you go in the wrong direction.
Timox asked very good question but you didn't offer exact answer.
Please don't mix two very important but completely different things:
    # New notebooks are delivered without recovery DVD and this installations DVD must be created by notebook owner. For this purposes Toshiba has installed small tool called "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". This tool can be used for installations disc creation only.
    # I don't know what do you understand under HDD recovery tool but fact is that recovery image is saved on second partition and can be used for HDD recovery installation. This can be done if you have factory settings only. After own operating system installation you will probably not be able to start HDD installation anymore even if the recovery files are still saved on second partition.
As I can see you have US notebook model. I don't know exactly how it works there but the principle must be the same as here in Europe.
At start-up you must press F8 or zero to enter Advanced boot options. There you should find option Repair my computer and following this option you will enter System recovery options with Toshiba recovery option.
When you install own operating system this option will be gone. I describe now how it works on European models but I believe on US models it must be similar.
    So again the important questions:
Have you ever tried to start this HDD recovery installation (F8 or 0 at start-up)?
Can you start it now after Win7 installation? If not than you have a problem. I just hope you have created recovery DVD when you got your notebook.

  • My DVD/CD-ROM and floppy disk drives can't read or write contents

When I check through the computor it says verything is working. I have some CD's I wrote data and files to with this computor but for some reason it's showing me that there's nothing on the floppy's or the CD's.
Mined you I have another computer and its able to see, write, save, to these same Floppy's or CD's.
It's also telling me to load the CD when its already in the RW devices in my computer.
I just reloaded everything on to a new hard drive in April, I used the DVD/CD-RW and everything was fine.
My model is Satellite 2415 S205. I have reloaded Drivers. What else can I do? I refuse to believe the RW/DVD and the "A"  went bad at the same time.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • Airport Extreme w/Powered USB Hub and External Disk Drive Win 7

    Hello,
I have an Airport Extreme device setup with a Belkin powered USB hub in the USB port.  I am using the

  • Satellite A200-1M8 and second HDD bay

Hallo, i want to install a second internal hdd drive at the hdd2 bay, but when i opened the bay i noticed that there aren't any connectors installed.
So what is the point of a second hdd bay if there are no connectors inside?

    Hi,
The point of that bay is, IF you purchase a model with a second HDD equipped then there would be a connector, but if purchased a model with only ONE drive equipped then you just will have one drive since the connector for the second HDD was not soldered on the mainboard of your model type.
Easy and simple. If you want to have a second drive then you will have either:
    - solder a connector to the mainboard which causes the revocation of your warranty and does not mean that you can use a second drive since you will need the appropriate BIOS Rom
    - purchase a USB-HDD and accept your situation :/
    Thats all.

  • TM and second internal drive

So I have a little bit of a conundrum; I have two internal drives, a SSD and an HDD.  Obviously the SSD is a boot drive, and my itunes library, working/editing library for my photography, etc is on the HDD.  I occasionally unmount the HDD, because it randomly spins up and won't stay asleep even when not being used (removed spotlight indexing, and still does it, so still on the hunt for the problem using sudo fs_usage | grep and logging) and is noisy, sapps power, and I have no need for it to be mounted.  Changed the spindown time to 1 minute (sudo pmset -a disksleep 1).  Anyhoo currently im running an automated shell script to mount/unmount with a few hotkeys
    Issue I didn't forsee though;
If TM runs while its unmounted, it will delete it from the backup, then when its remounted, it will do a full backup of the drive.  I do need its contents backed up, so its not something I can exclude.  First first thought would be to change the script to both mount and unmount the two disks together (internal HHD and backup external HHD), but I'm not sure how exactly I would go about this since they wouldn't always be mounted at the same time. (I keep one backup disk at home and one at my office, and have a script to change TM backup disk (tmutil setdestination mount_point)
    Any ideas or recommandations?

So as you can see, its unable to backup my 2nd internal drive, starts deleting the old backups to make room, then re-backs up the whole drive after a deep scan.

  • RE: Memory Upgrade Confusion and Second Hard Drive Recommendations ?

    Hi,
Afraid I'm a bit confused with what would compatible and what wouldn't and was hoping I might get some advice. I want to increase memory by about a GB on my Power Mac G5 (spec. copied below purchased UK early 2006). I understand that once you have the right cards (two installed in parallel) that its quite straight forward. I searched the apple site and the cheapest it gave me for my model for 1 Gb was:
    Apple Memory Module - 1GB DDR2 533MHz Non ECC - 2x512MB DIMMs
    at £140
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/91234046/wo/hn5g4hFDfgHw3aTb YlYSoSb9duX/3.0.28.9.5.9
Then Micro Ankiva quote this and I assume here I would need four of them to get the 1 GB. Also though not sure if this would be compatible ?
    Apple 256MB PC3200 DDR400 DIMM Desktop Memory 184Pin
    £25 x 4 so £100
    http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?PNO=MAC57117
Then finally I came across these guys at Mac:Upgrades offering this which again I assume I would need 2 of them (they said these are compatible but I'm dubious because they are so much cheaper?)
    Kingston DDR2 PC4200 DIMM - 512MB
    £17.11 x 2 so £cheap !!
    http://www.macupgrades.co.uk/store/productinfo.php?productsid=199
    Here is my spec.
    Machine Name: Power Mac G5
    Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
    CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.0)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 512 MB (2x 256 MB DDR2 SDRAM PC2-4200U-444 OK)
    Bus Speed: 1 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
    Serial Number: CK6100AVV5V
Any advice on this is hugely appreciated.
Finally while I'm here I figured I may as well ask for recommendations from people with regards reliable second internal hard drives. Ideally I'd like to go for 500GB - I currently have 160 GB. Would this be possible with what I have - I read (though not sure correctly) that maybe only 500 Gb in total is possible. Anyway any pointers on this too gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi MrJax
Couldn't find your machine via the serial number on apple support pages. Is it a DDR2 G5? 8 slots - max 16gig ram - PCI-X? If so its the same as mine and I'm just looking to upgrade my ram after having some shoddy old dimms die on me! Many thanks to the reseller that did me on that one!!!
RAM can be a real conundrum, clock speeds and CL's...very confusing. Keep an eye on my post as well as I'm researching what to install as well. Keep in mind whatever you have in there will affect the speed of new RAm you add, so adding faster RAM than what's already there its pretty pointless.
In the past I've always gone with Crucial RAM. I've installed it on several machines over the years and its always been very reliable.
I've just moved abroad and so can't buy Crucial here so will be going for Kingston this time round, just not sure which exact dimm type yet.
Kingston have a better warranty situation than Crucial (think crucial is a year) and from what I've heard, from people who should know, it's very good RAM. Both are really cheap and to be honest whichever you go for buy it from the manufacturer. Crucial deliver really fast, as i said I've always bought from them and never had an issue. Even one time when I thought the RAM was dodgy they sent me a replacement without any problem! Both Kingston and Crucial walk you through the Ram options on their websites, its very straight forward.
I'll keep you posted on how the Kingston RAM shapes up
As for HD's. My advice is to go for a Western Digital drive. If you're in the UK then hit ebuyer.com Great prices.
    Hope that helps.

  • Satellite M40-225 and Vista PCMCIA driver

I lost my original disks for my M40 so bought a copy of Vista to install on my computer, when I first installed it the computer would not start up so I looked on the internet and it seems there is a conflict with the PCMCIA drivers and Vista. I followed the advice on the forum and managed to get vista to load by deleting all the files relating to the PCMCIA drivers.
Vista now loads but I am unable to find update drivers to get the PCMCIA slot running. I use this port for my wireless internet has the internal one was very slow with my router. Ive tried downloading the drivers from Toshiba but there is no Vista ones. Ive reinstalled the originals but they still dont work although Vista now loads. Does anyone know of a solution to my problem?
    Thanks Steve

    Hi
First of all the M4 I dont understand why there is a conflict between the PCMCIA drivers and Vista!
The drivers are included in the Vista OS so how did you remove such drivers and how did you install the Vista on this notebook?
Furthermore the notebook supports the PC card slot and you can use the PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card 16(multi-function card) and PCMCIA 32bit cards. The BIOS controls this slot.
Maybe you have to update the BIOS before you will install the Vista on this unit!!!
