The BIOS cannot make a downgrade with the insyde flash bios utility from Toshiba.
ITS SAYS ---"the version is not newer the the current version| what should I do Dear Toshiba?

BIOS downgrade is not possible using *Win based* BIOS version.
The BIOS downgrade is possible using traditional BIOS version which can be done by service.

Please Help me.
I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum in it.
For some reasons I'm not a big vista fan.
So i downgraded my OS to XP and as i was searching for drivers and all for XP i saw a Bios update for my laptop it was 5.20 which was for XP. While for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on website.
Now from here my problems started.
I downloaded that v5.20 bios and updated it.
Soon problems started like laptop gets overheated, it freezes, and sometimes refuse to give performance.
As i was unable to find all my drivers for XP i switched back to Vista with the help of my recovery DVD. But the problem remained the same with Vista also so finally i took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Centre.
They said there is a problem in motherboard so they fixed it but they didn't fixed the Bios.
I still have v5.20 on my machine.
I tried to downgrade to v2.40 but it always shows an error.
Can Anyone pls help me.. I'm able to boot with a USB thumbdrive but i don't have a DOS version of Bios v2.40.
Please if anyone can provide me with my version of bios.
I will be grateful to he/she forever.

Not even this when i buyed the laptop it showed me 749 something as shared Graphic memory now it only shows around 399.
I know this is all because of that Bios update.
Now im not even able to play good games.
This machine is almost useless for me now.

i have the reasons for downgrade i hope u'll understand. Here they are :-
1. From the very 1st day i upgraded to v5.20 my problems started which led me to take my machine to an ASP.
2. Problems Started like overheating, freezing, BDOS, and performance degradation.
3. Shared Video Graphic memory declined to only 399 is this am i suppose to get ??? i remember well that before upgrade to v5.20 it was higher than 749 something. i have a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 Gfx with 2GB of Ram in my Notebook.
4. I'm unable to play Good Games, the games lags and its performance disappoints me. before upgrade those games were running smoothly.
All I'm asking u guyz is for a correct version of my bios which is v2.40 if u can provide me that i will be grateful becaose im fed up this v5.20 it is making my notebook a peice of trash day by day.
Please look in this matter and give me some more of ur precious time in searching correct version 2.40 for my notebook

Satellite L500 - cannot flash BIOS

Hi all,
Looking for some help here - I have a Satellite L500 series and recently the battery has stopped charging - went from 3 hours to 0% - not charging overnight. Have tried altering the eco settings, holding down the power button for 40 seconds and even a new Power Supply unit (we have these at my work), but nothing seems to work. The only thing I can do without purchasing a new battery is to flash the BIOS.
Problem: I am getting an error saying that the BIOS cannot be flashed because it has less than 10% power. Any idea for a work-around?
I'm more inclined to purchase a new laptop than to spend any money repairing this one (CD drive and a USB port have also stopped working) but want to try everything to keep the ol' faithful going.
Any hints or tips?

To flash the BIOS using win-based version, the battery needs to be charged.
If its not charged, the BIOS update process would not start up.
But why you want to update the BIOS?
BIOS update does not solve the problems with CD/DVD drive or USB ports.

I have tried to do with the windows tool within the Zip-File (error message: User does not have administrator privileges), and with bootdisk (error message: unknown chipset).

First of all the BIOS update will not help you to solve the CD/DVD drive IDE #1 issue.
Secondly I assume you are using the Win XP and if you want to update the BIOS you have to do this from running Win XP!
Furthermore I read in different threads that the Common Modules must be installed in order to start the BIOS update procedure.
PS: Check if you could start the BIOS exe file using right click and choosing Run as
Then you could choose the Admin account.

Cannot downgrade quicktime from 7.1.3 to 7.1.1

ive bought the programm hypersonic 2 but it has graphical problems. the manufactoerer says thats a problem of version 7.1.3 from quicktime. They said that i have to downgrade quicktime with 7.1.3 reinstaller but the reinstaller says
: this disk is dimmed because it does not contain an appropriate version of quicktime.
Has anyone help.

Hi all, I was veiwing some photos on yahoo email via firefox version 3 6 3 sent by my sister in Australia, when this file appeared on my desktop which I cannot delete.
The file is called Pez & Lisa (after my sister and brother in laws photograph) when i try to delete it I get the message "COULD NOT FIND THIS ITEM, THIS IS NO LONGER LOCATED IN C/USERS/PAUL/DESKTOP VERIFY THE ITEMS LOCATION AND TRY AGAIN"
The file when I right click on proprties reads the file is 0 bytes size.
It cannot be deleted in safe mode or moved or renamed or anything!
Any ideas??

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, however, there is nothing in startup or task manager to delete!
I have tried downloading unlocker, but it doesnt do anything when I click on it!! Maybe it doesnt work with Windows 7.
I suppose I can leave it alone as its not doing anything! its not worth a reformat just do get rid of an icon.

Satellite L510 - Cannot download software from different pages

I can open internet sites but cannot download software.
Windows Explorer not responding.
I can download on my desktop PC so is not a Internet provider problem.
Microsoft thinks is a setting problem. I've just installed Windows 7.
Can anybody help?

Maybe there are some settings in your Internet Explorer which prevents the pop up and therefore you cannot download any files
I recommend checking this in the Internet Explorer options
Did you try other internet browsers? For example firefox?
You should check it too

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
I doubt that older firmware version is compatible with your new AirPort Extreme, so it doesn't surprise me that you can't upload it.

Satellite P100-324: How to downgrade BIOS to version 2.40

I have the Toshiba Satellite P100-324 with BIOS version 3.30. I need to downgrade BIOS to version 2.40 because it help with stuttering problem when playing games on Windows Vista. But the problem is the version 2.40 is unavailable at Toshiba Europe website (I'm from Russia). I have found this version (one mate gave it to me), but it is for P105 models (US version).
The question is - can I use US version of BIOS 2.40 for my european P100? Is it compatible?

I found this very interesting discussion and I have to clarify something.
You dont need to update the BIOS to another version to play the different games on the Vista OS.
The games couldnt run properly due to the Vista OS.
Several weeks ago Microsoft has published and hotfix which solves some problems with the Multi GPU support on Vista. It was useful for users which use the gamer computer with 2 GPUs

How to downgrade BIOS on Satellite L650-11F

i've just registered here but i've had my toshiba laptop for year and half now ,
it's L650-11F PSK1JE
my problem is the bios , i re-install windows every few months to keep the laptop fresh and fast and i download all new updates and drivers from Toshiba drivers page
well i did 2 updates to bios from 2.00 to 2.20 and then to 2.40
but since first update it seems to be messing my laptop
DVDWR stopped burning DVDs
Echo mode on battery don't setup says bios unsupported
Graphics card fails so much in games now in FPS and very slow rendering in the games !!
it's Radeon 5650 !
not the best card right now but it's very good 1 still ( Playing Aion btw ) .
i want to flash the Bios i wanna reset it to factury default or the bios comes with the laptop and i won't ever update it again ! it mess the laptop not improve it !
i read tutorials how to downgrade bios but i'd rather ask here for more pro help

Many people think the same but especially fast has mostly nothing to do with BIOS update. If everything works well why to change anything and risk something.
My notebook is 3 years old and I use it still with original BIOS. No problems at al. Anyway, I think you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and explain the situation. Be clear and tell them that you are not happy now and you want to have old BIOS version again. They have access to BIS database and can obtain older version for you.

Satellite C660-2C3: Cannot enter BIOS

Hello,
I enabled the Quick Boot Function which skips the Logos and only boots from HDD, but now I need to install a 32bit Windows for School, but I can't enter or reset the Bios.
I tried every button combination I can think of.
Is there any way to remove this feature again without taking it apart?
The existing Windows is not the Original one, so no toshiba software is installed.

I have a similiar problem with my toshiba C660.
I want to view the S.M.A.R.T. menu on the hard drive , but actualy i cannot enter BIOS to change HDD Controller. He is curently saved as "AHCI" and i cannot enter BIOS to change it. I have tryied to press "F2" button several times , but no response. I tryed to press "INS" key at the beggining , then "F2" key , but still no entering to the BIOS menu. If i wrong , pls tell me where?!

Downgrade HP 655 BIOS from F.29 TO F.27

I would like to know if it is possible to downgrade the BIOS on my HP 655 laptop from the most recent update (F.29) to the most recent previous revision (F.27). I am experiencing a lack of sound on my laptop despite having uninstalled/reinstalled/re-reinstalled the appropriate HP and Realtek drivers as advised elsewhere in the HP help forums, but I am not able to achieve a lasting resolution. Someone apparently downgraded their BIOS from F.29 to F.27 and seems to have resolved the issue thus. I have the SoftPaq files for both the BIOSs (sp66770 for F.29 and sp64675 for F.27), and I am unable to bring about an effective downgrade. No matter what I try, the BIOS still appears to be F.29 when checked in BIOS. I would appreciate either an update to sp66770 which addresses the inherent issue with the sound card or the ability to effectively downgrade back to F.27 so that I can hear music through my speakers without having to uninstall/reinstall drivers, etc., every time I turn my laptop on or off. Thank you.

erico I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but I installed the v5.1.0.0 softpaq UEFI environment from the page you linked to, and when I restarted the computer and pressed Esc, then F2, the v1.6.0.0 "UEFI" that Dagk and I have been mentioning is what shows up. Thinking that it might also be worth attempting to make sure I was using the most recent version of that UEFI environment, I looked at that file's revision history, and I noticed that there was a newer version (5.2.1.0, sp62061) available. I downloaded that as well, installed it, then proceeded to shut down the laptop again, reboot, and Esc/F2 to get into the utility. Lo and behold, the 1.6.0.0 version is still showing up. It's like neither of these two installations had any effect whatsoever. There were no errors thrown upon either installation. I'm going to say this again: Would it not simply make sense for HP to provide a BIOS fix for this problem rather than to have to find a way to roll back BIOS to F.27 (which evidently is more difficult than originally conceived)??? I suppose, as I said, that if it could be designed such that the F.27 BIOS was incorporated into an InsydeFlash package which presented itself as F.29a or F.30 or whatever it would need in order for the system to accept the BIOS overwrite and not get hung up on the fact that it was trying to downgrade, that might just take care of things. That's not my specialty, though, so I don't know what ultimately has to get done at the end of the day. I'd hope that HP would seriously consider making this right. It's getting frustrating. This laptop is the only one with which I need to go through a "special" startup process in order to make the laptop work as it's supposed to upon a cold boot. Thank you for the continued efforts.

Satellite P875 turns off immediately and loop after bios update /vrsion 6.30

My satellite P875 turns on and immediately turns off since I did an update of the bios (v 6.30).
When the battery is connected and power wire too, it turns on then turns off in a loop.
With the battery, and power wire unplugged, the loop stop and the laptop just turns off.
Nothing on the screen because it turns off immediately.
If someone has any Ideas...
THis laptop is new( a few weeks) and runs windows 7

I tried this: Fn+F+ start, it last a few second more, with the sound of the fan, and then turns off again.

Short story, you bricked your box, and whatever time you spend trying to find someone in the world to tell you different and all the time you spend here answering follow up questions will be odyssey land wasted getting right back to the start of this sentence.
Either this forum or others will ask you for model number details and suggest "flash fixers" that might or not repair your bricked system and always at the expense of your warranty.
The sooner you call tech support and convince them it wasn't your fault the faster you'll get your new toshiba replaced with a refurb. Backup up your important hard drive data cause you're not guranteed to get the same drive back either.

Satellite Pro L300 wont boot up after updating BIOS from 1.30 to 1.50

Dear All,
I own a Toshiba Satelklite Pro L300 and had no problems for the past 4 years. Last Monday I replaced my Hard Drive with a new one and after installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro, I downloaded all the drivers from the offical website. Upon finishing my last update, I updated the BIOS from version 1.30 to 1.50. After a few seconds my laptop restarted and was unable to load Windows and/ or recognise my new Hard Disk.
I tried several methods, being Safe Mode, Bios Optimun Defaults etc but was unsuccesful. IO could not even re-install Windows as the Hard Drive is not being recognised by the Laptop. I formatted the HD again via my desktop Pc but still have the same problem.
I am really worried and would appreciate immediate help!

What happen exactly when you switch your notebook on?
Set BIOS to deult settings and try to install original recovery image that you got with your notebook. If everything works OK that means HDD upgrade was successful and there is no some serious hardware problem.
After this check you can try to install WXP again.
Please post some feedback.

Satellite P875-31Z - Cannot remove McAfee Security Center

Hey there, I have a slight problem, and so far, I haven't been able to solve it.
I was helping a friend who isn't as tech savvy as me purchase a laptop, and he bought the Satellite P875-31Z.
Now, it comes with McAfee software preloaded.
I was able to uninstall most of the unwanted Mcafee software, but the McAfee Security Center just doesn't want to go away.
It doesn't show up in the windows 8 "remove a program"-list, it doesn't show up in the windows store app list, and even the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) doesn't get rid of it. Well, it at least got rid of the tile-picture, now it's just a blank tile.
Is it part of some Toshiba software and I'd have to remove some software that is also crucial for the proper working of, say, the function keys?
Drives me slightly mad, first time I couldn't get rid of software ^^

Im really wondering you have this problem. On my Win8 preinstalled Satellite notebook under Programs and Features there are two entries for McAffe:
McAffe Anti-Theft and McAffe internet Security. I presume the same must be on this P875 too.
What must be done is removal of McAffe Internet security. After notebook restart remove McAffe Anti-Theft and uninstall McAffe Security advisor placed on the desktop (right mouse click). Thats all.
Ive done the same.
