Satellite Pro 2100: CD-ROM/DVD is missing - error code 39

Dear all,
after an unsuccessful attempt to install a TV USB stick, my DVD/CDRW drive has disappeared. It is still working, I can hear it work, but Windows XP does not know anymore that the computer has this function. It also does not come up under "my computer" anymore. The system device manager also tells me there is a problem (code 39) and shows an exclamation mark in front of Mat****a UJDA740. What can I do? How can I get my DVD/CD-Rom drive back??
Thanks,
shl

  • Need to find the cmos battery on Satellite Pro 2100

I have a laptop that isn't keeping date/time settings and I need to identify the laptop to find the correct instructions for taking it apart.
The make is a Satellite Pro SP2100, model number PS210E006P9-EN however I'm unable to find this make/model on the Toshiba website. The nearest I can find is Satellite 2400-103, Part Number : PS240-014T1 which looks identical.
I've tried using the Toshiba identification tool to detect what the laptop is but that fails to provide any results.
I also need to find what the power supply is for this unit as the current one is faulty and has wires exposed.
The current adapter with it is PA3201U-1ACA, the problem is this adapter has got another adapter on the end to fit in the power socket in the back of the laptop. The connector at the end of PA3201U is too thin to fit.

    Hi
This notebook is very old and the name of this machine is: Satellite Pro 2100 PS210E
    > I have a laptop that isn't keeping date/time settings and I need to identify the laptop to find the correct instructions for taking it apart.
Usually the CMOS battery can be charged. You have to connect the AC adaptor and the notebook should be powered up for about 12-14 hours.

  • Help in identifying Satellite Pro 2100 for driver download

    I have a Satellite Pro (marked underneath as a PS210E-00C3G-EN and as a P4 2000/256/30G/15XT/DCW/LW). I believe it's a Sat Pro 2100, whatever that is.
Problem I have is that when it comes to downloading drivers, I can't find anything approaching that model from the selection process. I have searched the forums and there isn't much about on this machine other than in this one, so I was hoping someone could help me in identifying this machine specifically for driver downloads....yes, guess who reinstalled Windows XP without checking I had all the Toshiba specific stuff tucked away first?
RIght now I have a load of things running without drivers and it's not at all optimal....
    Thanks in advance
    J

    Check this Toshiba European driver page;
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU#
    and choose;
*Archive Satellite Pro Archive Satellite Pro 21xx Satellite Pro 2100*
Then you will find all available Toshiba drivers for this machine ;)

  • Satellite Pro 2100: Quick fix don't work with Win XP SP2

the quickfix drivers for win xp on my toshiba satellite pro 2100 doesnt work saying the drivers needs xp without service pack2.
Are there any drivers for winxp service pack 2?

    Hi
The quickfixes (QFE's) are small Microsoft applications which close some security openings in the Microsoft products.
You can install such updates either automatically if the windows will search for updates or you can do it manually from the Microsoft site.
I think you have tried to install not QFE's but drivers which are not compatible with SP2.
Please take a look into the Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Update information which is available on the Tosh page and follow the guide lines

  • Satellite Pro 2100 and new hard drive

    Hi,
    I've seen on another post that L0nestar has installed a Western Digital WD2500BEVE (250GB, 5400RPM) into a Pro 2100.
The question I have is what interface is required EIDE or SATA? The original drive states its a SATA interface, but the WD2500BEVE is an EIDE interface?
Hope someone can clear this up for me.
    Cheers.

As far as I know all old notebook models have HDDs with EIDE interface. Satellite Pro 2100 is delivered with Enhanced IDE (ATA-5) HDD.

  • Satellite Pro 2100; How to recover additional software without recovery CD?

How can I recover the bundled WinDVD and Drag'n Drop CD software for my Satellite Pro 2100 without the recovery disk?
    Message was edited by: yirms

This is not possible because this additional software is not available on the Toshiba download page why?
Because this is not a Toshiba software but software from 3rd party manufacturers.
This software is bundled with Recovery disk and can be used only with your notebook!
I think this has something to do with the licence issues

  • Satellite Pro 2100: Booting from a CD-R not working

    Hi,
At our company we use the BartPE boot disc to get onto the company network from which we can then use Norton Ghost to image our PCs and laptops. This works really well. However, I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 which is refusing to read any boot CDs. It'll TRY to read the discs but simply fails.
I can hear it trying over and over again but it's just not working. I've tried writing using different media and different CD writers, even going down to writing at 8x speed, but nothing helps. Is there a known issue with reading CD-Rs on this range or model?
    Tim.

    Hi
To boot from the CD you can press the C button immediately after notebook starting.
Furthermore it would be very interesting to know if it's also not possible to boot from the Toshiba recovery CD.

I am trying to burn a dvd on my mac book pro but it comes up with an error code 0x80020022. How do I fix it? I have tried rebooting through PRAM and various other options that I found online, but nothing has helped.

Try using a different brand of DVD's.

Just bought a bunch of new songs and went to back them up in iTunes 7.3 and I keep getting error code 261(0x00000105).
Any ideas? Did not have this problem in prior versions. Brner works fine with other programs.

Keep getting the same error as well. Run cd/dvd diagnostics and it should tell you... "The last failed data CD or DVD burn had error code 261(0x00000105)".

  • My Mac OS X 10.4.11 will not write DVDs and gets error code 0x80020022, what is wrong?

My Mac OS X 10.4.11 will not write DVDs and gets error code 0x80020022, what is wrong?

That code is not really useful since it just means it can't write DVD's (or probably CD's).  The only thing you can do is first to try a different brand of DVD's, higher quality.  You could also try burning at a slower speed.
Based on the fact that you are using an OSX that's no long supported, there's probably not much you can do to correct this issue if it is software related.  You may also have a failing Super Drive, another consequence of an older Mac.

  • Satellite Pro L500 wont burn DVD

I have TWO Satellite Pro L500 laptops with a TSSTCorp TS-L633C DVD-RW Drive. BOTH exhibit the same problem - burning a DVD fails during the finalising process, regardless of what speed you burn at.
    Burning CD's works fine.
The blank DVD's burn fine on a Satellite L500D laptop using the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20N drive, and also on another Satellite Pro L500 that is using a Pioneer drive.
Both laptops having issues are running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, but nothing else other than the software that comes with the laptop. Both are new straight out of the box. Driver is current version driver, from what I can find out.
Any suggestions? When one laptop showed the problems I thought it may be the drive, but now 2 laptops from totally different stores showing the exact same problem?
    Thanks.

The problem is that disabling file verify doesn't resolve the issue as the disc is unreadable after burning.
*I have now solved the issue*
*It seems the TS-L633 drives do not work well with lower speed discs.*
Where EVERY other computer, including a Satellite Pro and Satellite using different drives, will detect the lower speed DVD's and burn appropriately, the TSSCorp drive does not and hence errors due to burning the disc at too high a speed.
The drive worked fine when higher speed discs were used.
Examining the problem discs I believe they were 2x discs, which as stated worked fine in all other computers where the computer detected the lower speed and changed the burn speed to 2x, however the TS-L633 drive would not allow less than 3x burn speed, and tried to burn at 8x. This obviously created a problem!
So, anyone having DVD burning issues with a Satellite laptop using the TSSTcorp TS-L633C drive, try changing the blank media to something capable of higher burn speeds!
Thank you to all that suggested solutions. I have also passed this info along to Toshiba Support as I feel this may be an issue they need to either resolve or note for future users, as there is no doubt slower speed DVD's will be used in these devices!

  • Satellite Pro A60: Windows XP cannot start missing or corrupt driver isapnp.sys

I have had a Satellite Pro A60 for about 3 years without problems.
Last week the Toshiba in Touch screen developed bleeding vertical lines and I got error message 'Windows XP cannot start because of missing or corrupt driver isapnp.sys'. I have tried using recovery disk but this loads OK but then fails to make any difference. Hard disk appears to work OK as slave to another computer.
Any suggestions wil be much appreciated!
    Thanks

Found this Microsoft knowledge base article:
You receive a "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Isapnp.sys" error message at startup

  • Satellite Pro L875: Cannot burn DVD in Recovery Media Creator and Win 8

    I have a Satellite Pro L875 with Blu-ray Burner.
I tried to create DVD Recovery disc, the burning process stopped and had error prompt asked me to check if the disc was damaged or scratched. After the burning process, the DVD was not blank and had some data written on it.
I tried to burn data disc in windows 8. the burner did not start. I only able to add files to the drive.
I play Blu-ray movies and dvd movies, the blu ray drive was fine.
I found information about the appropriate dvd disc speed that matched the burner speed.
How do I know what speed the burner support?
How to burn DVD or Blu-Ray in windows 8? ( I have looked at Microsoft forum but the solution did not work.)
It would be great if anyone answer and make the drive burn some discs.

At first it will be interesting to see why you cannot create recovery discs.
Have you used empty DVD-R media? If not please use it and buy some high quality product like Verbatim or TDK.
Is there option to create recovery USB stick?
Burning under Win8? Have you tried to use some burning applications like NERO?

  • Which HDD can I install on Satellite Pro 2100?

I have installed a second hand Toshiba 40GB hard drive in my Pro 2100 but it fails to recognise it in the BIOS. Any ideas ?

Yes, I have an idea ;)
Did you check if the HDD is not corrupt?
I think this is a first step to find out whats wrong.
If youre 100% sure that the HDD is not damage so in my opinion the BIOS cannot handle the HDD size. Its simply too big size.
The BIOS supports several HDD sizes but if the HDD it too big the BIOS cannot be able to recognize the HDD.
