Satellite Pro 6000: Cannot find correct WLAN driver

Hi,
I have re-installed Windows Xp on my notebook Satellite Pro 6000. All is working except for the wireless connectivity.
When looking in the device manager, I see that the WLAN driver has not (or incorrectly) been installed.
So looked at the Toshiba site for the corresponding drivers, but I am not able to find the correct one. I did found some drivers, which seems to be the one, but unfortunately after installing the drivers, the wireless connectivity is still not available.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Robert

Hi
I dont believe that you cannot install the Wlan driver.
Go to the device manger and find out which Wlan card was installed. (check properties)
If the WLan card is placed under network adapters so the driver was installed properly.
But if you see a unknown device in device manager so you need the WLan driver.
Then download the WLan driver from the Toshiba site. Be sure that you use the right driver for the right OS!
You can try firstly to uninstall the old driver and then to install the new one.

  • Satellite L300D-11V cannot find a WLAN network

    Ok,
I have 2 x Satellite L300D-11V series laptop and both are having the same problem: they are not detecting my wireless network in my house but I have proved the wireless hub by using a third PC (HP) and works perfectly,
Ive checked the wireless switch is on and done the FN+F8 key but it still cannot find a network. I've checked the devices in the Network adaptors and it finds Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC but this is a LAN card isn't it?
Other devices show an Unknown Device but where would I find the Wireless device?

    Hello
I don't know what kind of stories you heard in both shops but the fact is that Toshiba offers notebooks with WLAN card inside. All these notebooks are delivered with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and have factory settings.
This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers (including WLAN driver), Toshiba designed tools and utilities and some additional software. So if you buy new notebook with preinstalled OS the WLAN driver is there.
The statement from both shops is either misinformation or there is some misunderstanding.
    Hi John
Im glad to hear your problem is solved now. just for info: WLAN card in your notebook is REALTEK 802.11(B/G) 13CH-RTL8187B.
    Bye

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - Cannot connect to WLAN router

    Hi there,
    I have brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, Model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7Ghz, 512Mb, 30GB, with Windows 2000 Pro loaded.
I cannot get the wireless to connect to my router. The switch is in the correct position.
I want to change to XP using the key supplied with the laptop from new (dual OS) however I can't get it to reformat using an XP disc at start up or if I use the recovery cd (start with holding C down and release when it runs up) it begins but displays "invalid drive specification" three times and loads Win2000.
Can anyone advise how (or if!) I can reformat as I would like?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Hi Jaba,
I'm quite happy to 'start again' and erase the existing partions via reformatting however I do not know how. I have tried starting with the XP disk in the dvd drive but it starts up in to 2000 without reading the XP disk.
I would prefer WXP than W2000 as it will be for home use.
If you or anyone else can advise on how I proceed from here I would be very grateful.
    Cheers All.

  • N9A2 Platinum, Installing XP Pro, SP2, Cannot find SATA Hard Drives

I am lost here.  I cannot get the bios to recognize the HDs as SATA drives, and XP Pro does not find the HDs (of course), and I do not know why.  Do I need a SATA driver floppy for the Install Win drivers <f6> ?  I thought not from the other threads here.  I am not using Raid.
I have downloaded and read the manual from the support site, Support knowledgebase and every thread that I could find here in this forum.
My setup is the N9A2 Platinum, V1.
    Bios v 1.4, 3/112/08
    Phenom X3 720
    Ultra 750W power Supply
    Seagate 500GB SATA HD
WD 80GB SATA HD (for Photoshop scratch drive)
My Bios is set up as follows>
    Integrated Peripherals
      Extra RAID Controller - Disabled
      On-Chip ATA Devices
          PCI IDE Busmaster - Enabled
          RAID mode           - IDE
OK, Any ideas?  You folk have a lot more experience with me.  Thanks for all/any help.

Ports 5 and 6 ,the red ones ,are for the Promise Extra RAID controller ,which as per BIOS settings was turned off  ,thats why the HDD was not detected .You can use that Promise controller with HDD-s ,even if they are not in RAID config ,but drivers are required.
    Glad i could help you!

  • Satellite Pro M70: Cannot connect to WLan with ConfigFree

    Hi in Forum.
I'm having trouble with a Satelite Pro M70, concerning gaining control of wireless conections.
When scanning with "The Radar" i ConfigFree for available wireless accesspoints, I get several points available, but is not able to connect to a single one of them. I can read their status and see their WEP encryption marker.
When I try to connect to any one of them, I get a pop up dialog box, which says (translated from danish) "Another suppliers software is in control of the wireless adapter". When trying to set up a connection through the classic windows way, windows states that "windows is not able to configure this wireless connection - if you have another program to administrate wireless connections you must use this". I suppose it refers to ConfigFree...?
Is the unnamed "other supplier" Windows related or maybe McAfee related (Security Suite 2007)?
If you're familiar with this problem or something like it I would be please to know.
By the way - where do I enter WEP encryption keys for my friends WLAN routers in ConfigFree?

    > When trying to set up a connection through the classic windows way, windows states that "windows is not able to configure this wireless connection - if you have another program to administrate wireless connections you must use this". I suppose it refers to ConfigFree...?
It must be not a ConfigFree. Depending on you WLan card an Intel ProSet utility or a Atheros Client utility could controls the Wlan configuration!
Please check if one of the both tools controls the wlan and disable the function!
    > where do I enter WEP encryption keys for my friends WLAN routers in ConfigFree
You should have three different tabs in the Configfree utility.
The second one Device settigns provides device list and there you should find Wireless network connection.
Choose it and use the button Network connections.
There you should find some encryption settings!
Please check also the Profile settings tab and the option called Security settings

  • Maximum HDD size for Satellite Pro 6000?

Hi, I am trying to install a 60 GB HD, but it formats, and it stops at Windows XP Pro instalation.
Is there a limit to HD size?
    Thanx,
    Ronaldo

    Hi,
does it stop without any error message? If not then try another copy of WinXP since the Satellite Pro 6000 shouldnt have problems with that harddrive. I had 2 years a similar machine and I also had a 60GB Toshiba HDD installed. It worked like a charm, so I cannot imagine that the harddrive could be the problem.
    Cheers

  • Satellite Pro 6000 doesn't boot anymore

    Hi all,
I have a Satellite Pro 6000 that is quite old, but until yesterday it was working fine. Today, it won't start anymore. The indicator LEDs are on (220v:green/power:green/battery:orange) but the BIOS or OS won't start. Fan doesn't work either. The FN key seems to work - if I press it, the indicator below F11 lights up. If I press and hold the power button the power indicator LED goes off.
I've removed the battery to see if that might help, but it basically gives the save (non)result.
Is there any way to do a hard reset? Or is it curtains for this laptop?
Like to hear your thoughts on this one.
    JP

    Hi
Try to disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery a leave the notebook for a while. Wait about 20-30 min, connect all parts again and try to boot up.
If it will not work I assume the notebook hardware malfunctions Maybe its a motherboard fault (power supply electronic) or CPU.
Who knows. Without any hardware tests its not easy to find out what device malfunctions

  • Satellite Pro 6000: LED error message - What does it mean?

    Hi,
I gad an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000. Sometimes, not after a periode, it turns off. I gad the Error code 'cause the DC IN LED blinks orange. The blinking rate is 1x long 3x short 1x long 2x short 1x long = 10001001 in bin = 91h (is this right?)
Now 91h ist the following error: 1R5-E1V voltage is not more than 1.275V when the computer is powered on. But what the hell this error means? What is 1R5-E1V?
    Need help. Greetz

    Hi
You have to read the code backwards!
    10001001 = 1001 0001 = 91H
    http://www.prepressure.com/library/binhex.htm
In my opinion there is something wrong with the electronic on the board.
Therefore you have to contact the Toshiba ASP for the help.

  • Cannot find my hard drive connected to my extreme

Hi - I am using a Windows 7 PC and cannot find the hard drive connected to my airport extreme.  I have gone into manaul set up on the extreme and asked it to share the files which it has confirmed, yet when I go into windows explorer I cannot see the drive at all ...... can I please ask for some assitance?

Just want to be sure of three things first if you don't mind:
Does the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) have a Base Station Name that includes a space? For example: My AirPort Extreme. If it does, rename it so that it does not have any spaces or use the underscore character between words.
Does the shared HDD have a volume name that includes a space? If it does, again, remove them or add underscore characters.
Is the HDD formatted in NTFS? If so, the AEBSn does the best job of sharing HDDs formatted in HFS+, then FAT32. It will NOT work properly with HDDs formatted in NTFS. If the HDD is very high capacity, you may want to borrow a friend's Mac to format it in HFS+ or get a utility that lets your PC format/read/write to HFS+ volumes. Regardless of it being formatted in HFS+, the AEBSn will share it out using both the AFP (for Macs) and SMB (for Windows/Linux) file sharing protocols ... so Windows PC should not have any difficulty accessing it.

I have an iPhone 4S that is locked with a password & cant remember password. when I connect to my computer it says that it cannot find the device driver. How can i fix this?

    Hello jlb1977,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
    Best of luck,
    Mario
