Satellite Pro 6100 shuts down for no reason
When I turn on my laptop it stays on for at least 15 mins or more and then shuts down and the DC-IN led flashes orange.
Does anyone know what is happening I have read the manual and everything?
Very often the power board unit gets loose inside of the Laptop and needs to be pushed back into its place. Same happens quite often to the VGA card adaptor, too. If reseating won't help, either the power unit or the main board might need to be exchanged for a new one :(
You can ask Toshiba service to reseat the power-board/VGA card for you. The addresses you can find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true
Call them and explain the situation.

My satellite Pro 6100 cuts out after 15-30 mins operating on mains power. There is a snapping sound and all lights go out except slow flashing amber (power problem). I restore it by removing the power cable and waiting a while.
It will then boot up again. I have used two different power adaptors and two different battery packs. It also happens if running on mains with no battery in. My suspicion is an overheat cut-out. Does the Sat Pro have one? Might it be clogged with dust inside (it is 5 years old)? If so how do I clean it out. I don't think it is fan failure as I can hear the fan cut in. Me and my partner, have the same LapTop, and I've located the problem in connector between PSU board and MainBoard. So, if you've never opened your LapTop, now is the time, but be prepared with tools for SMD soldering. Usually, the connector on MainBoard is the problem. The reason for this is that Toshiba made flaw in design of the housing and admitted that, which resulted with court order for replacing the LapTop with some models from newer line for that time, or paying cash amount ($1.000). I intend to repair my LapTop in a way that I will replace the connectors (both on PSU and Main Board) with thin wires. I know that this is a hell of a job (160 solder points) but what can I do, I love this machine. I am working on Compaq EVO N-610c, but he can only eat the dust from Toshiba.

My Macbook Pro keeps shutting down for no reason
I have this Macbook Pro 15' , 4gb ram, 500gb HD, and it was pretty slow, so i took it to an apple shop where they've format and installed Mountain Lion 10.8.3, but now after a week it keeps shuting down for no reason, it happens when im using for example, safari and Word or 2 softwares at the same time, any tips?

I was using my computer just as usual, I was on Microsoft Words and doing lectures on the Internet. Then, out of nowhere, the screen froze and black lines appeared all over the screen and the computer shut down. The screen was all black, but I think it was still open because my laptop was doing sounds, three beeps. When it beeps, the little light that shows you when your laptop is open is bright, so the beeps and the light are synchronized. AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, help me!!!
There is a hardware problem. Possibly bad RAM. Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

example 2: power on without battery and after insert battery "pluged in, charging" but after 10-15 mins shut down, DC led and power led blink amber (battery is not hot on touch) battery is 6-7 months old
Only way to use the laptop is on DC without battery or only battery without DC
The only way to recharge the battery is by disablyng the "microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery" from device manager and from time to time enable it to see the procent of recharge.

This might be an overheating issue. While gaming, all parts run with highest performance and a lot of warmness would be created. Therefore the temperature goes up and notebook shuts down to prevent the hardware from damage. I think you should try to clean the ventilators to get good air circulation.

Not quite sure what could cause this but maybe it just an keyboard problem. Otherwise it could be a power supply electronic issue which would explain other issues described here in the message.

Satellite Pro A100 shutting off for no reason
Hi
I have a pro a100 that i think is overheating.
It runs for about 30 minutes then switches of and reverts to the initial boot up screen "Toshiba" ect, tires to boot then repeats the above.
I have blown the dust from the fan intake and air outlet and this has improved things, now runs for about 90 minutes.
I want take the base off to clean it out properly but cannot find a service manual to tell me which screws to remove.
Would anyone here have a service manual for this laptop, if so would you be willing to e-mail me a copy.
As it is now "end of life" would this still be a problem?

So I think that the notebook is affected by higher temperature.
Cleaning the fans inside the notebook and assigning new thermal grease might help.

Believe me; its not easy to say exactly why the BSOD appears.
Generally it happens because of the serious software malfunction or hardware fault.
Did you use the OS from the Toshiba image?
There message says something about sysaudio.sys.
This file is a system audio WDM filter process and its a part of Windows OS. It controls the hardware like printer or graphic card on a lower level.
Note: The virus uses such files as a camouflage. You should use always a anti virus application.
Furthermore you have suggested that the notebook shuts down after 5 min.
Well, this sounds like a overheating issue. How did you use the notebook? You should know that the free space around the notebook is very important because of the air circulation. The ventilators should be also free.
I you use the notebook in the right position and this will happen again so I would recommend asking the Toshiba service partner for the help. They should check the notebook. -
Maverick Shuts Down For No Reason
I am tired of Maverick shutting down for no reason. It even does it in Safe Mode. I've tried all the tricks of removing preferences, extension and still it keep shutting down with it's kernel panic screen. I'm the one that's paniced. I can't work in any program, such as Final Cut or Safari for too long as it will shut down. I'm thinking I need to reformat. Great. My least favorite option. But, I need to get all my files off, deauthorize software and hoping that I can get my mail and other contact back.
Hoping someone might have an answer to avoid reformating.
I keep sending in these reports to APPLE, 3 to 8 a day. Here is the most recent one.....Hopefully, I can post this before my computer decides to reboot.

If basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide fails to resolve the issue, then take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

Since i've made the last update, my laptop shutting down for no reason.
I just udpated to OS X Maverick and ever since my system is shutting down for no reason. Then i tried to reset my SMC but it still not working. Any solution ? I reported more than one issue reading forums but not the same as mine.

My itunes account on windows xp shuts down for no reason. If even try to delete something from my library it shuts down. It wont recognize my iphone and there is an issue with network connectivity and I can't connect to the store. I have already reinstalled itunes and did a system restore on my computer, firewall has been checked, itunes is ok on firewall and virus scan done. Ideas??
Same problem. I can see the itunes store so not a problem with windows firewall. The account is active on my iphone so i know i am not locked out. I can connect the PC to my iphone so i know itunes is working ok. It is just logging into itunes on this pc which doesn't work. Only thing I can think of is that the email address I use for my apple id has been offline for a while and is working again now, I'm wondering whether this has been the case for others who are having this issue?

MBP unexpectedly shuts down for no reason.
My MBP has been working fine, until I updated to 10.5. Originally this problem started in Bootcamp running XP, but has now done this once in OS X, just a while ago. There seems to be no difference- even when the psu is plugged in. Just now when it did this again, I pressed the power key and the led on the front blinked really fast, then there was a tone- like it was doing a firmware update (but I did the firmware update months ago!).
I've done a power reset- taking out the battery and holding the power key down for 20 seconds, which seems to have helped, but then again this problem seems to be rather sporadic, and one can never tell when it is going to happen next.
Oh yes, there is a mechanical 'click' that sounds when it does it- like a relay click. Is there a relay power related IC on the motherboard?
Any clues anyone? (I'm sending this exact letter to Apple as well)
TomIt's an interesting thread, but I seem to have the problem even when the cord is plugged in. I did have battery problems when I first got this MBP, but they seemed to settle down once I used the computer a bit more. FWIW, I have now got them mostly while using Bootcamp. BC beta 1.3 was really stable and good. It wasn't until I bought Leopard that this problem started. And again, it's only happened 3 or 4 times now.
I'll just have to keep saving. I'm sure Apple will wise up to this sooner or later. (Incidently, I haven't been able to send anything to Apple as I can't find their direct contact addie. Can someone 'remind' me? Thanks! -

I recently made the same mistake. The thing to do is download the new Quicken Essentials for MAC. After you install the new version follow the instructions on how to transfer your old files. There is a way, it just takes a little time and, if I remember correctly, it takes the info from your quicken backup files. Hopefully you had auto back up on and your files are intact. I didn't and reconstruction was a bear but entirely possible. The new Quicken is quite different but seems to work quite well. Good luck.

There is no such thing as a "hard reset".
If basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide fails to resolve the issue, then take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
