Satellite Pro A100 PSAACE: cannot install ATI display driver

Hi all,
I have experienced a series of problems with my Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card that I'm sure could be resolved by downloading the latest drivers. This I have to do from the Toshiba website as the ATI website offers no support for it. But I have experienced multiple problems downloading the file archive.
It always says that there is an error: "Header error... (missing or corrupt)" and it asks me to redownload the file, I've done this three times now with the same results, I'm starting to get a little frustrated- can somebody +please help+. I have noticed that the downloaded (and useless) file is smaller (by over 50%) than the intended size-- I don't know if that helps at all...
Pre-emptive thanks if you can help me with this problem.

Hi
What to say I have noticed that the drivers download server is very slow. Looks like an overload possibly all the packages would not transmitted correctly and therefore this error message appears.
I know that this could be very frustrating and I really understand you because I have tried to download other driver and the performance is really slowly but I dont see any other solution as trying to download the graphic driver package again
Good luck buddy

  • Satellite Pro A100 (PSAACE) - Display is not working

    Hi all,
Got a problem that's confused me.
A few weeks ago my very old Sat Pro a100 (PSAACE) started to refuse to display anything on the screen.
This is from boot, i.e I press the power button from cold, the system whirls and fan goes both nothing appears on the screen.
I left the laptop alone and noticed it popped up on my network, so I remote desktop connected in and everything was working, but still no display on the actually laptop.
Thinking it might be a wierd setup I started Pressing Fn + F5 to swap between displays, at this point I managed to get a display back on the laptop screen.
However on next boot it did the same, this went on for a few days with me pressing Fn+F5 to get a display.
Then the Fn+F5 stopped working, I could still remote desktop in and use the laptop but I couldn't get anything to display.
In windows the ATI Mobility 1400 had disappeared from Device Manager.
I figured the VGA controller board had blown so ordered a new one.
I have now fitted this, and it hasn't resolved the issue. The Fn+F5 workaround is working sometimes, but gives a very weird display looking like corrupted fonts etc
*However if I do a screen grab of this and view on another PC the fonts and screen appear normal!!*
The Mobility 1400 is now recognised by Windows but still nothing on the display at either during POST, boot or Windows.
Fearing BIOS corruption I re flashed with the 6.00 official BIOS.
All in all the machine works great, just no display or by pressing Fn+F5 I can sometimes get the +corrupted display+.
Lastly I've hooked on an external display, at no time do i get any display on it regardless of Fn+F5, or windows, POST etc..
Any thoughts? Would a faulty LCD/FL cable cause these type of problems? or even a faulty inverter board? or since I have no external display am I looking at a main board fault?
Happy to carry out any further tests anyone can think of.....
thanks in advanced for the help
    Richard

    Hi,
you are correct I see nothing on external monitor, regardless of Fn+F5.
I can boot the machine and log into it remotely though remote desktop, vnc etc once in I can use the machine as normal just without a screen.
On the occasion when Fn+F5 does bring back a picture, its very distorted - almost to the point of corrupt. However a screen grab of that and then viewed on another machine shows the capture to be perfect.
So the fault lies somewhere between what the main board and the screen.
As I noted previously this laptop has a seperate VGA controller card which I have replaced with a know working one.
I have no replaced the RAM, and CPU on the off chance. The only thing I dont have is a new mainboard lol
    Still no different.
    any thoughts?

  • Satellite Pro A100 (PSAACE) - Display driver for Windows 7

    Hi,
my A100 works in Windows XP correctly (video: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600), but in Windows 7 video is standard graphic 4 MB? The required driver in Toshoba-Downloads (95MB!) doesn't work - no compatibility hardware? So Windows 7 is in virtual env. slooooowly...
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanx.
    Minnikon

    Hi Minnikon,
And why does the display driver from Toshiba page not work? Do you get an error message or something else? What happens exactly?
Generally speaking the chipset driver should be installed firstly. Then you can install the display driver from the Toshiba page.
    Check this!!!

  • Re: Satellite P870 - Cannot install Intel display driver

    Hi,
I have tried from both Intel and from Toshiba and cannot install the Intel driver.
Without the Intel driver I cannot install the Nvidia driver, I have tried downloading the Intel utility installer from Toshiba as well as the Intel HD 4000 driver.
I do not want to do a system recovery. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks the model number is P 870 02k00s
It came with Windows home 7 64 bit pre installed. I upgraded to to Pro for work.
It was working good until last week where someothing made the intel driver start showing it had a fault at this point i uninstalled the driver hoping it would reinstall and i could go on my merry way.
After this point i tried downloading the driver packs from both toshiba support and intell but both dont work.
Currently the intell display adapter is listed as video controller (VGA compatible).
The NIVDIA driver staes i need to install the intel first

  • Satellite Pro A100 - Can't install sound driver

    Hello,
Hope someone can help, I'm having trouble getting a sound driver to work, I've tried quite a few different drivers now and none seem to work.
I've tried all the drivers off the Toshiba driver download site with no luck. I'm still left with a yellow question mark in device manager. (Satellite Pro A 100) During the installation the window appears that i must instull MICROSOFT BUS DRIVER BEFORE this audio drive r(Realtek HDA for XP).
Where can I get this driver(Appreicate if someone could point me in the right direction), or somebody can give me another usefull advice?
    Appreciate any help
    Thanks.

I think this is a known issue.
Sometimes its useful to search in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. There I had found these interesting documents:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835221
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111
Its very important to install these hotfixes before you install the driver.

  • Satellite A665-S6065 Cannot install latest display driver

There is a newer driver on the Toshiba Dowload page (v197.91 5-28-2010).
I can download it, unzip it, but when I try to install it I get the following error:
"the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware"
    ..and the installation closes.
    Help?

    Satellite A665-S6065
You are referring to this driver?
       nVidia Display Driver
Try booting into Safe Mode for the installation. That way the replaced driver is not in memory.

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA: Need Lan and display driver for XP

    Hey
    please help me!
I have just installed XP on my new satalite pro, but i have had trouble with the drivers.
At the moment I have installed most but from this site i can't seem to find a driver that will help my network card, nor my video NIVIDIA drive...
any suggestions would be very valuable

The Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA is not known to me. I know only the Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7. So could you please confirm your Pro A200 series?!
If you cannot find the single XP drivers on the Toshiba page I would recommend checking the LAN and the graphic chip which is installed on the motherboard and use the XP drivers from the chip manufacture.
If you need an graphic driver I would recommend using the drivers from the www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com site

  • Satellite Pro L500 - Can't install Realtek LAN driver

    Hi All,
I have recovered a Satellite Pro L500 Windows 7 pro with disc created from notebook, but now can't install a Realtek LAN driver for the notebook.
The software driver installer dosn't seem to run correctly all the time, have tried several times to install, with only once a realtek "repair" option becoming available.
When I did manage to install driver I got a error "device failed to start". after recovery I also had problems with a "PCL simple communications controller driver",
which seems to have been a Intel MEI according to the VEN, DEV info displayed in systems info.
Are these problems related and how do I Install the required driver in a automated system if the system won't detect the hardware correctly?

Have downloaded from many sources the correct driver, but the motherboard or the OS is not discovering the network adaptor so even if the driver is installed the divice is not recognised as being there(physically installed). when installing the driver software i get the error from the realtek installer "Realtek network controller was not found. If in deep sleep mode is enabled please plug the cable". have no idea what or how deep slee is enabled and have reset bios settings to default and have reset cmos.

  • Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514 - Cannot initialize Solid State Drive (SSD)

    I have a Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514.
Recently I purchased a SATA II Cavalry 64GB SSD to replace the current hard drive. First I tried to install XP with SATA drivers streamlined in.
The install process recognized the SSD and did the initial file copy to it, but when it restarted to continue the install process the system would not boot from the drive.
Then I tried installing Vista Business 64 from the recovery disk that came with the laptop.
After initiating the recovery disk, the install process said the hard drive was not Initialized and to click OK to initialize now.
After clicking OK to initialize the system restarted only to end up on the same screen telling me to initialize the hard drive.
Then I tried to initialize the drive manually off of my desktop.
Plugged it into my desktop, initialized it and formatted it to NTFS. Plugged it back into the laptop to try Vista recovery again. And yet again the same screen shows up. Plugged the SSD back into the desktop only to find that the drive was no longer initialized and had to be initialized again.
Then I gave up and installed the SSD to my desktop as primary boot and it installed perfectly fine with XP. For testing purposes I then put the ssd with the pre-installed XP back into the laptop to see what happens. To my dismay the laptop would not boot and on top of that when I put the SSD back into the desktop only to find that the drive was no longer initialized and I had to reinstall XP again.
    Conclusion:
It seems that the Satellite Pro S300 series is not SSD friendly and just the post it self de-initializes the Solid State Drives.
This seems like the logical conclusion as the SSD works perfectly fine on my desktop and the laptop is fine now with the old spinning hard drive back in.
Anyone else have this problem or a solution?
I would still like to put the SSD into my laptop for power saving.

Im using AHCI mode, but for testing I tried both and neither one worked. My bios is already up to the latest version and unfortunately the Cavalry site does not have any firmware updates yet. Again I don't think the drive is bad cuz it works perfectly fine on a desktop that had the same intel chip set and SATA controller. I think it's the custom boot agent that Toshiba uses at boot. Anyone know how to disable that agent and the intel boot agent as well? I read somewhere that the agents are not needed for the boot process and that in some cases they do cause issues like mine.

  • Satellite A660-07U - Can't install new display driver

When I first got my laptop it wouldn't even boot out the box! So I googled the way to get it up and running and it wouldn't install Windows 7 32bit, so I installed Windows 7 64bit and that worked.
I am one of the users who is also having their laptop freeze on them constantly. I have done the Bios update and it is still doing it. So I decided to try updating the graphics drivers with the new ones from this website, but it seems they wont install. I got the Windows 7 64bit drivers first as I have Windows 7 64bit installed in my laptop. But it says it cant find the required hardware, I figured its because my laptop is not a 3D version, should that even matter?
So I then tried the 32bit drivers and it says im using wrong system os for those drivers.
So how about some drivers I can use?

    Hello
    > it didn't work out the box
Why it didnt work? What problems you had exactly?
    > The X64 drivers for download will NOT work on my A660, says something about not the right hardware (which is where I got the 3D idea from)
Well, in my opinion it has nothing to do with 3D support. If you can find new driver updates for Satellite A660 they should work because they are tested by Toshiba.
As far as I know there is no A660 model with 3D support, thats only available on A665.
Fact is that 32bit drivers never work on 64bit operating systems. So just forget this point.
Satellite A660/07U seems to be an Australian model and belongs to PSAW3A series. On the Australian page there is only one display driver available for Windows 7 64bit
What you can try is the display driver from European page where you can find a similar model PSAW3E:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
On this page I could found two driver version: 260.51 and 189.58. As far as I know latter one works properly without freeze.
    > You could have just said you don't know the answer or are you always this condescending?
You want some help or not? ;)
I mean I also didnt know that you are still use the Windows 7 installation from Toshiba, you only wrote about new Windows 7 installation.
    Anyway, it was simple misunderstanding.

  • Satellite Pro M30: Need new version of display driver

It is so frustrating!!! How is that possible?!?
The display driver (nvidia fx 5200 go) is so old - according to the device manager the driver date is 08/28/2003 and the version is 45.56 while the current driver in NVIDIA site is 84.21?!?
And there is no new driver in the Toshiba site and you can't install the one from nvidia, as they say that FX 5200 go is not supported and that we have to download a driver from the notebook manufacturer which is obviously impossible!
Did anybody find a solution to that problem?

    Hi Valentin,
I had a similar situation with my A30 which was preventing me from playing several games. As you will discover, it is virtually impossible to load the latest drivers from the maufacturers website (ATI or NVIDIA) so I resorted to the OMEGA drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ to see if they would work.
The Omega drivers loaded perfectly and have been working without any problems for the last few months. I can even play the games that the original Toshiba drivers would not support.
I accept that there is a potential risk of the graphics chip over-heating but so far I have not suffered any ill-effects.
    regards,

  • Cannot install latest display driver for Vista 32-bit Equium A200

    Hi all,
I am trying to update my display driver to the latest revision posted for my model laptop on the Toshiba site but on running the setup exe Im returned with an error stating my system is not compatible with driver ver 7.14.10.1461.
In info clearly states it compatible with an A200 (PSAE2).
    Anyone had a similar problem.

    Hi!
On the Toshiba website I have founded only Intel display driver for your A200 PSAE2 so I think you have an Intel graphic card.
Well, I had this problem too and the solution is pretty easy: Go to the device manager => right click on graphic card => Update driver.
Now you can install the driver without problems.

  • Satellite L650-1M0 - CAN'T install new display driver

    Hello!
I have Toshiba Satellite L650-1M0 and i CAN'T install new drivers to my graphic card: Mobility Radeon HD 5650 from the AMD site. Why i cannot do it? I want to install the latest display drivers because i have problems with display mode. My laptop is set on 16:9 but some programs display in 4:3.
Please give the latest drivers on the Toshiba site or tell me what should i do to download drivers from AMD site. I have Windows 7 64x ;).

    >Why i cannot do it?
Im really wondering you are asking something like this. It is well known that support for mobile units (notebooks) is offered by notebook manufacturer and not by hardware manufacturer.
Due to specific notebook design and limited cooling performance graphic card cannot be upgraded as on graphic cards designed for desktops. New driver means more performance. More performance means more heat and result can be graphic card damage or switch-offs because of critical hardware temperature.

    Hi!
Sorry but you will not get drivers for this Intel chipset and Vista.
I searched on the Toshiba and Intel website and there are no drivers for Vista available. So must use Windows XP, there is no support or drivers for this chipset and Vista.

  • ATI display driver rollback

I have desktop running Enterprise Linux server 2.6.18-164. Recently I installed ATI display driver on it. After that I am not able to restart my machine. Is there any way to roll back the recent driver changes???

You can try to boot in text mode (no graphics) and check /etc/X11 directory. Usually, whenever a change in graphics settings occurs, the system makes a backup of the original configuration file (xorg.conf) and then applies the new settings. So, you can try to replace the current configuration file (xorg.conf) with the old one (xorg.conf.backup), if it exists...
