Satellite Pro A200 - Hard Drive has lost half it's memory

I have a toshiba Satellite Pro A200 running Vista. Vista came preloaded and I don't have any discs for it. I have had it since new (Sept 2007). The hard drive is split into drives. Recently my C drive has competely filled up and I now have no space left (55gigs gone) I store no data in this drive. All my media (music, photos, other files) is in my E drive. I have to run C Cleaner each time I boot up in order to have enough space to operate the computer. I also have to delete all but the most recent restore point in order to function.
I am at my wits end and think I must have a virus or something. Is there a way to restore the computer to 'new'? I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive so I don't mind starting from scratch. Bearing in mind I have no install discs as Vista came pre-loaded.
Can anyone help????? please!

If you don't have any disc and if you didn't get any disc with your notebook that means your notebook was delivered with HDD recovery image and this image is saved on second HDD partition in folder called HDDRecovery.
Recovery disc can be created using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator. I don't know if you still have all this.
The whole story with HDD is somehow strange to me. If your notebook has two partitions and partition C is full I am asking myself what is with second partition. It must be pretty empty.
What is capacity of second HDD partition?
What is free space on this second partition?
You wrote about E drive. What is E drive?
You must understand that nobody of us know what are you doing exactly, what programs are installed on your notebook. You wrote about no saving data on partition C. Maybe you are wrong about it. Maybe you download many torrents and they are saved somewhere on HDD. who knows?
Do you have some friends with good PC knowledge? Try to find someone who can take a look onto preinstalled system and check what is going wrong there.

  • Satellite Pro M40 hard drive failure - Recovery disc on new drive?

    Hi
My Satellite Pro M40 hard disk has died and I want to install a new drive. Unfortunately my old drive is 60Gig and the Toshiba parts website has only 40 Gig or 80 Gig drives.
Will I encounter any problems with the recovery disc if the hard drive is not exactly the same?
    Your advice would be appreciated.
    C

No, there shouldnt be any problem with the Toshiba recovery CD.
On the recovery CD you will find a Windows OS, Toshiba drivers and utilities and additional software.
These whole applications are packed in image files.
You should only be sure that the HDD is compatible with your notebook and will be recognized in the BIOS.
Then just simply boot from the recovery CD and the installation should start.

  • Upgrading Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 hard drive

    Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10. It is an old laptop, but rather than change it, I would like to install a new hard drive. I have previously put in new RAM to this laptop, but I know the Hard drive change is more complex, so I need as much help as I can get
The laptop is running well, but the 20GB HDD is obviously too small. I have an external USB hard drive for multimedia stuff etc, but the main HDD, even with just the Windows XP and other software on it is always near to the 20GB and the time has come to change
I know I can handle the 'hardware' changeover without much problem. I am intending to get a USB enclosure to allow a clone of the old drive to be copied to the new one, so that when I do install it, the only difference to the laptop will be the larger storage capacity on the internal HDD
I have read extensively about the variety of issues and I am still quite confused. The main issues for me seem to be
-Whether the BIOS affects the type of internal HDD I can install
-I am fairly sure the interface I need is ATA-100/IDE. So does this mean I cannot use SATA?
-What size of HDD can I install? Is there a limit?
-Does the current internal HDD have partitions? I am not sure? It is the same as it was when I bought it, so would Toshiba have put a partition on it containing OS or software? I don't know. I have 'recovery discs' but no Specific windows disc, as one did not come with the laptop. So considering this, how do I go about 'cloning' the old drive onto the new, and then installing it 'seamlessly'?
-Do I need specific software for a 'clone'? Otherwise, how do I do it?
-What do I need to look for in a HDD, when buying? Some sellers seem to see potential issues to do with the capacity, others do not. Im confused
So, as I say, all I want, is to get a larger internal HDD and install it without problems. Im willing to do the work involved, but only when Im confident I have all the necessary information and 'boxes ticked'. Otherwise I fear it may be a disaster.
I am not able to afford to buy a new laptop, so all help is very much appreciated
All advice welcome. Also, if you have any questions just ask
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

Can you provide the COMPLETE model number and the part number for that model?  I don't want to give you any incorrect information.  The part number would look like this.  PSA10U-3V1JG8
But based on what you have stated so far I would say you need an EIDE or ATA hard drive.  Due to bios limitations that I am 95% certain will be in place with your model you will be limited to a 120GB or smaller 9.5mm thick 2.5" ATA/EIDE hard drive.  I recommend Western Digital Scorpio BLue drives for their combination of price, performance, and reliability.
Once you post the model and part number I can verify this so you can order the correct drive for you system.
Western Digital has a free version of Acronis True Image that you can download that you can use to clone your old drive to your new drive if you purchase a WD drive.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Satellite Pro A200-1MI - Need driver for PCI memory controller

I have the Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-1MI(PSAE7E) having a problem with PCI Memory Controller on my notebook.
When I go to Device Manager it shows question mark in the tab Other Devices and when I go there, it's yellow ?(question mark) and !(exlamation mark) at PCI Memory Controller. I took and downloaded all the drivers from your site:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
for XP but I am not sure what type of drivers do I have to install for PCI Memory Controller, is it bios driver or something else? I just need to know what to install to overcome that problem with my Device Manager and PCI Memory Controller.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello akibono
I presume you have installed clean WXP on your notebook and now you want to install all drivers, tools and utilities. Am I right about that?
Anyway, after WXP installation you must install all drivers, tools and utilities in specific installations order. After doing this everything should be OK and every hardware component will be properly configured.
Please install all stuff as follow:
    WXP
    Chipset driver
    Display driver
    Sound driver
    Modem driver
    Storage manager
    LAN driver
    Touchpad driver
    WLAN driver
    Toshiba Assist
    Flash Media driver
    Webcam driver
    Hardware setup
    Controls
    And so on
I hope everything will be OK.

  • How to recover data from an external hard drive that has lost half of the data I was storing in it

I am using a Lacie external hard drive to store my photos on. Every once in awhile it disappears from my screen. I have been able to bring it back by unplugging and re-plugging from the computer. Then I had to turn it off and on again. Finally, it lost about half the stored photos, and I couldn't recover them. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I might do to fix this problem?
I'm using an iMac with  iOS 10.6.8
The hard drive has 1 TB capacity

    You can try these.
    Data Recovery Programs
    Data Recovery – Best
    Data Recovery – Disk Drill
    Data Recovery – Data Rescue
    Data Recovery – File Salvage
    Data Recovery – Stellar Phoenix

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAE7: Where to get the ATI driver for Win XP

    Hi,
I have bought Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 PSAE7 and it was with Vista on from the beginning. I decided to upgrade (/downgrade) it to XP but there's problem with driver to graphic card (Radeon HD 2600 Series).
I can't find anywhere ati drivers (actually I found it on ati.amd.com site, but on this forum I read that Toshiba drivers are modified so that Radeon won't be overheating) and I'm wonderig if Vista ones will run on XP (I've downloaded all drivers but ati one)?
...and is it possible to downgrade my Vista to XP Pro through Miscrosoft site (or something like that) or do I have to reinstall it using my old copy (provided with old Toshiba)?
    Ps.
    Sory for my English
    Ps2.
Is it so important to install drivers in proper order?

    > When trying to download driver from Toshiba web I get message:
    >"This software has not been officially tested and therefore must be at the users own risk."
    >I agree, but still can't download it.
You have to switch the option to Accept!!! Then the button Download will be activated!!!
    >I found driver on ati site, but read somewhere that for Toshiba notebooks drivers are modified so that >graphic card won't overheat. Is that true? Or original drivers (of ati group) are as good as Toshiba ones?
As mentioned in this forum, the original ATI or nVidia drivers are designed not for the notebook usage!!! The GPU drivers are designed for the graphic cards which are used in the desktop PCs!!! Such graphic cards are equipped with an own, big cooling module in order to prevent the hardware from overheating!!! The notebook GPUs dont support such huge cooling modules and therefore the drivers must control the performance and the temperature growth.

My hard drive has 70.93 GB available, yet when i have more than one internet tab open, i have to force quit google chrome because 'there is no more available application memory'. How can I solve this? I have a 2009 macbook pro running on 10.6.8. I have tried updating to mavericks through the mac app store but after it downloading for a day i got an error message saying there was a problem with the download. The same thing happens if i try to update itunes or the mac app store. After research, i have also tried repairing disk permissions, but every time they do get repaired the 'repair' button still appears, i'm not sure if it's because it was unable to repair the initial problems or if it just keeps detecting new ones.

2 GBs is a minimum in which you can do many things, but not concurrently. Be very careful to not install third-party add-ons, limit the number of applications you choose to enter in Login Items, run as few applications concurrently as you demand.
I would consider adding more RAM to your computer. Your model supports 8 GBs, so I would install that.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Can't install Windows 7 due missing CD/DVD driver

Hello, I have a Satellite Pro A200, PSAE4E-046018N5 and I'm trying to install Windows 7 but I can't pass from step one because it doesn't found a driver:
A message box saying: A required CD/DVD drive devise driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
    -What to do?
    CD-ROM is a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA, the actual driver have version 6.0.6002.18005 (date:2006-06-21)
    Best regards
    /peter

    Hi Peter,
Do you try an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 at the moment? If yes please try a new and clean installation of Windows 7. Does this work?
Another question: Is your CD/DVD drive working properly or is it listed with yellow exclamation mark in device manager?
In your case I would try to remove the drive from device manager and restart the notebook. After this the drive will be recognized automatically.

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE4): DVD drive permanently blinking

    Hello,
I have been using a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE4) laptop for some time now without any major issues.
My dvd drive (tsst crop TS-L632H) is no longer working for a few days now... More precisely, its LED is permanently orange blinking. Drivers are up to date. The eject button doesn't work either. No disc is inserted. The drive seems fine in the Windows device manager...
If opened manually and if a disc is inserted in the drive, I can't see any data. Can't boot on the disc either.
I'm running under Vista 32bit SP1 with the latest bios available on the toshiba website (2.40).
Since I need to fix the frequently reported "black screen" issue before login prompt, using the windows installation disc
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks !

    Hi
According to you page you are not able to boot from any CD or DVD, not even from the Toshiba Recovery CD.
    Am I right?
To be honest, Ive no idea why such issue happened but in my opinion its related to the hardware malfunction and only the replacement could helps
I dont know how old you notebook is but maybe the warranty is valid and you could replace it for free
    What do you think?

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA: Need Lan and display driver for XP

    Hey
    please help me!
I have just installed XP on my new satalite pro, but i have had trouble with the drivers.
At the moment I have installed most but from this site i can't seem to find a driver that will help my network card, nor my video NIVIDIA drive...
any suggestions would be very valuable

The Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA is not known to me. I know only the Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7. So could you please confirm your Pro A200 series?!
If you cannot find the single XP drivers on the Toshiba page I would recommend checking the LAN and the graphic chip which is installed on the motherboard and use the XP drivers from the chip manufacture.
If you need an graphic driver I would recommend using the drivers from the www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com site

  • Need ATI XP driver on Satellite Pro A200-15G

    Hi,
I'm italian so my english will be not very well :)
I've installed XP on my toshiba Satellite Pro A200-15G.
I've searched the display driver for this model of notebook on this toshiba site, but i didn't find it.
    Where i can find it?
Ah, another thing: i've installed xp without update bios for xp... is necessary to update it?
Last thing (for the buyers of a satellite/satellite pro a series): what is the autonomy of your notebook's battery (in various modes and in various SO)?
    Thanks.
    Bye

    Hi,
if you need a display driver then go here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
or especially for ATI cards you can go here:
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
Regarding BIOS: yes, if you want some things on your machine working properly then update your BIOS to the XP version.
Hm, battery lifetime... should be about 1 1/2 to 2 hours
But I am not sure, it depends from so many things.

  • WXP WLAN Driver installation on Satellite Pro A200

    Hello,
I installed Windows XP SP2 for a customer on Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) and installed after is talked to the German support hotline every driver like in the test-instal.txt but I don't get the Atheros WLAN card work.
It is an ar5bxb72 from Atheros, but no way.
I get every driver in that list working with the hardware but not the WLAN-card although I installed it like in the list.
Anybody got a hint for me?
    Greets
    Marco

    Hi dude
Are you sure the notebook was equipped with the Atheros WLan card? According to some information which I found in the internet, this notebook was delivered with Intel or Atheros WLan card!
I have checked the Toshiba page provides an Intel WLan drivers and Atheros Wireless Lan Client Manager. The Wireless Lan Client Manager is not the driver but only the tool which helps you configure your wireless network card and gives you more configuration options than the windows embedded configuration functions.
I would recommend downloading the WLan driver from this Toshiba WLan portal:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
By the way; if you use XP on this Vista preinstalled notebook then you will have to update the BIOS to the XP version too!
    Greetings ;)

Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple.
Or, you can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Cannot install the XP Modem driver for Satellite Pro A200

I'm a local network admin for Newbold College. We have new A200 laptops and we need XP Pro on some of them. I have tried to install the modem driver as one of the last drivers downloaded from the european support site. I also tried to Canadian site as well.
The driver install program doesn't seem to do anything. I tried to manually install the driver from one of Windows modem Agse/Toshiba software modem, but I have com port issues and I can't quire the modem.
    Can anyone help me please!!!!!!!

    Hi
What to say; I have checked the Toshiba Europe driver page and found all necessary and important XP drivers for the Satellite Pro A200.
Please note that the Toshiba European driver page provides XP drivers for 3 different Sat Pro A200 series!!! There is PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7 series.
    Please choose the right one!!!!
Furthermore you will find an installation instruction txt file on the Tosh page.
In this file you will find a right and important installation driver order!!! Please follow these steps!!!
I dont know exactly why you get the modem com port problems but I assume that a new XP and driver installation should solve this strange issue.
    Good luck
