Satellite Pro A30 - 1024 X 768 screen resolution only

My Satellite Pro A30 will only run at a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 can I increase this ? I did not see any options in the display settings or the BIOS

Hi Carl,
I believe that 1024 X 768 is the maximum availavle screen size for your A30. You can, of course reduce this to a smaller value if you wish but you will not be able to increase it.
The value is set in the deisplay properties available from the control panel, or by right clicking on the desktop area and selecting 'properties'. The value is set by the slider in the lower left hand corner of the window.

  • ACPI Compliant BIOS for Satellite Pro A30

Hello, I have a Satellite Pro A30 which has 1GB RAM and P4 2.8GHZ CPU. I was wondering when toshiba would be supplying ACPI compliant BIOS upgrades for these machines? Because I would like to upgrade to Windows Vista, upon running the Vista Upgrade Advisor, my machine will run Windows Vista Business, but I just want to use Windows Vista Basic.
So I began the upgrade from within Windows XP and once the machine re-booted to begin the Vista installation I was confronted with the Blue Screen, stating that my BIOS wasn't fully ACPI compatible.
This seems like such a shame as the machine is upto running Vista, but Toshiba have not provided ACPI bios upgrades. My bios revision is 1.80.
    Any idea?

    Hi Keith,
I have an A30 also, after Googling around I've found that the A30 is ACPI 1.0 compliant and Vista requires ACPI 2.0, there is little difference and there are workarounds published on the net but they seem too complicated for me. The websites I've read think it is unlikely Tosh will release an updated BIOS as they would rather users upgraded their computers.
I've been to the BIOS (Phoenix) makers website and followed a link to BIOS agent. They informed me they haven't produced an upgraded BIOS yet but I should try again in 6 months.
I hope this helps a little, if I find anything constructive out I'll post it.

  • Flash development and the 1366 x 768 screen resolution

Has anyone tried to run Flash Pro [or, more importantly, the entire Web Premium Creative Suite] on a laptop with 1366 x 768 screen resolution?  Yes, I am aware that the specs for the software say that 1280 x 800 is minimum.  What I'm trying to figure out is whether this is an outdated spec from before the 1366 x 768 screen size became basically the only thing you could get in a 14" or 15" laptop or whether there is actually something desperately important about those last 32 pixels that will cause the software to function improperly.  I want a laptop that I can use to work on projects so I don't have to work at my desk all the time, and I need to know if I can get an off the shelf laptop for a reasonable price, with specs that meet or exceed the requirements of the software, aside from screen res, or whether I must get a higher end laptop with the full 1080 vertical.
    Thanks!

For future reference, and so some poor soul in the future doesn't have the same issue getting an answer that I did: Flash Professional seems to work fine at 1366 x 768.  It is a teeny bit cramped, though it would be at 1280 x  800 as well.  I don't think I would ever want to ONLY use that size, but for the sake of not losing momentum on projects when I travel, it should be fine.
I finally realized that the easiest way to test this was to simply shift my desktop monitor from its native resolution [1440 x 900] to 1366 x 768 and trying to use the software for a while.  Not sure why it took me so long to figure that out, but there it is.

  • Satellite Pro A30: Difference between motherboard K000013790 vs K000011360

    Hi all,
I need to replace my system board on a Satellite pro A30.
The board that needs to be replaced is a k000011360.
The board I can get to replace it is K000013790.
Can anyone tell me the difference between these two ?
I have a 2.6GHz CPU that may not be supported by the
    replacement board.
As I understand it, all Pro A30 boards have a standard form factor
    so can be interchanged.
    TIA,
    Ray.

    Hi
I am really skeptic that someone here can give you precise info. Maybe you will be lucky and some technician will post but before you wait here and waist your time I recommend you to exchange it with the same one.
On this way you will be sure it will work well and there will not be any problem with other hardware components or maybe kind of unwished suites like overheating, permanent running cooling fan.
By the way can you check if this board fits into A30 case (ports on the right place)?

  • Satellite M40: Graphic Errors when changing screen resolution

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite M40 and a big problem.
    in windows xp pro sp2:
when a program changes the screen resolution, the screen gets messed up,
I see only stripes and only a restart can get it back working (or suspend to disk).
    [edit]
I plugged an external monitor to the laptop and it works,
the laptop screen is full of lines and the 2nd monitor shows what the laptop screen should normally also show
    [/edit]
    in linux:
this can be also seen when changing from the xwindow mode in linux back to tty(1-6)
Here are some pictures of this strange behavior:
    http://www.ronnylindner.de/extern/images/toshiba/screen1.jpg
    http://www.ronnylindner.de/extern/images/toshiba/screen2.jpg
    http://www.ronnylindner.de/extern/images/toshiba/screen3.jpg
It looks like a hardware problem, but could it be just a wrong bios setting?
    What can I do?
Bye and thanks in advance, Ronny

I will try it with the Toshiba graphics driver, at the moment I use the newest Omega driver
I use 1280x800 as normal resolution
    programs giving this error:
world of warcraft (1024x768) -> working with 1280x800
    age of empires 2 (800x600)
as I said before, I get this problem also using Suse Linux when I switch from KDE to tty
thanks you too, hope we can get it working together :-)
    [edit]
strange, using the Toshiba display driver I got the problem at the first try (aoe2), but now it is not reproducable :-(

  • How do I automatically make new front panels and block diagrams a certain size and screen position, like able to fit on a 1024 x 768 screen?

I'm studying for the CLD and I notice that one of the requirements is this:
Develop block diagrams to fit a screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
When I create a new VI, its resolution is slightly too big: 1110 x 768.
When I create a subVI via the menu item Edit >> Create SubVI, it is way too small: 800 x 543.
For both methods of creating new VIs, I would like to specify both the screen position and window size. But if that is not possible in LabVIEW, I'd like a quick way to make this happen. I see some property nodes for VIs where I could write a subVI that could do this for the front panel, but that is awkward. And it does not apply to block diagrams.
Is there a clever way to do these things?

It doesn't mean the default size of the window. It means once your code is complete, your block diagram should be small enough that you can see all your code when its on a monitor of that resolution. Before you test, set your computer monitor resolution to 1024x768. Write your code. If all the code on your block diagram can be seen without scrolling, you will be fine. They won't measure this explicitly. They are basically just saying "you shouldn't have a huge block diagram."

  • Satellite Pro A300 crashes with blank screen

I have a Satellite Pro A300, AMD CPU, ATI graphics, Vista.
The system worked fine for a year but a few months ago it started crashing, the screen went blank, not blue, anything running, like music, stopped. This can happen after several hours or minutes, or even whilst it is re-booting. All my software is up-to-date, both from Microsoft and Toshiba. I have rebuilt my system from scratch and the symptoms came back.
At first I thought this might be a heat problem but I have monitored this but I don't think this is it. It has crashed seconds after leaving sleep mode when it has not had a chance to warm up.
    Anybody got any ideas?
    Simon

    Hi buddy,
Theoretically it could be an overheating problem so the screen went blank due built in overheat protection...
You should try to clean your notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators and therefore its not necessary to disassemble the notebook.
In your case I would recommend reading this article:

  • Satellite Pro M10: image on the screen is very dark

I have a Satellite Pro M10 Notebook that has a black screen, i.e. the back light doesn't work. There is an image on the screen but it is very dark. When connecting an external monitor I get a normal image on that monitor.
From information gathered from other posts here I conclude that there is a problem with the backlight of the lcd screen or the inverter. I checked all connections, but that didn't solve the problem. If I bring the laptop to a service center what will it approx. cost to have it repaired? The thing is 2-3 years old, so if it is very expensive I might better get a new laptop.
I'm sure I will be able to change to inverter board myself, but how will I be able to determine that the inverter is the problem? How to obtain a new inverter? Does anyone of you know the right product number?
My Pro M10 itself has product number PS630E-G205Z-DU.

    Hi
I agree with Tobi. You description sounds like a faulty FL-inverter.
This part is placed behind the LCD screen under the lid cover.
As mentioned this part isnt very expensive and you could order it from the Toshiba service partner in your country. But please note that if you have no replacements experiences so you should ask the technicians for the help.

  • Satellite Pro A30: CD/DVD drive not working - How to restore OS?

I want to run the recovery discs to restore my laptop to original condition but the cd/dvd rom is not working.
Does any one have an idea how I can do this either by connecting my laptop to another pc or is there a programme on the web I can access to do this for me.
Bacically even after running CCleaner and other programmes the laptop is still running slow and struggling.

    Hi mate
Im not quite sure if the old Sat Pro A30 is able to boot from USB drive. In such case you could try to install the OS from USB flash stick.
Here is a interesting posting about this theme:

  • Msi u270 screen resolution only 1024x600?

How to increase screen resolution on netbook msi u270? its only 1024x600, any solution?

Not at all if you have the standard 11.6" screen being at a native resolution of 1024x600. Only the optional 12.1" or 11.6" HD screens feature 1366X768

  • 1024 x 768 screens no longer supported?

On screens with width resolution 1024 px, the right column takes up much space. There
is often not space enough on the main part of the screen, for code samples and images in the messages to show without vertical scrolling.
And the category texts are written on top of each other, if the "path" is long, as marked by a red square in the image below:
    Best regards,
    Andreas

Now I've also seen an Internet Explorer screen shot – IE behaves the same as FireFox does in my screen shot above.
That said, this issue is easily reproduced in the most common browsers in lower resolutions, and also as TheJae describes it, just by zooming in, on a larger screens with higher resolutions as well.
As I see it, Adobe personnel ought to take these issues to the ones who build the forum interface, and report them as bugs.

  • Satellite Pro 4030 boots with blank screen - works OK on an external monitor

My sat pro 4030, funning W98SE, boots to a blank, white screen. When I press the lid closer or use Fn/F5 it goes black. It works OK on an external monitor.

    Hi Robert,
If your display appears correctly on an external monitor then it indicates that your graohics chip is still working correctly, so you problem must lie with the LCD panel itself, the FL Inverter, or the connection cable to the main board. I would recommend that you contact an Authorised Service Partner who can carry out further tests to diagnose the fault.

  • Windows 8 on boot camp on MacBook Pro retina w/external monitors = screen resolution not correct

how do i calibrate external monitors resolutions individually in windows 8 (like can be done in OS X) so that my MacBook Pro retina text isn't teeny tiny and my external monitors look normal? Is there a way to set the resolution and text size for each monitor separate from one another in Windows 8? Thanks for the help.

In Windows 8 use the help menu and search for external display.

  • Satellite Pro L20: No boot up screen

I have Toshiba Notebook Satellite & for some reason recently there is no boot up menu or screen. Once windows has loaded the screen works fine but my windows is corrupted & I want to re-install it I cannot do this within windows because of the errors & I cannot access the BIOS menu or even the see the multiboot menu.
I am wondering if a BIOS update will fix this problem, however I'll have to do this blind because I have nothing on the screen.
Can someone tell me what I need to press if I were to do a blind update? Or if there is any other way to sort out this problem (no boot-up menu screen).
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply
MY notebook boots up into windows but I cannot do anything once I'm in there, I think it has a few viruses on it. I do not have an external monitor to connect to it either. I tried formatting the notebook & installing Windows without having anything to go by on the screen (since it has been disabled somehow only during the boot up process & subsequently the Windows installation process). I found a step by step on the net but I'm sure you can understand that its hard to know what to press when there is nothing to see.
I tried FN+F5 but nothing happened (& I dont have a monitor to connect it to, I'm using a friends old laptop at the moment to accesss this site) does that work to CANCEL the external monitor & does it work during the boot up?

  • Bios update for Satellite Pro L750 still on black screen

    Hi,
The HDMI, USB, VGA and ethernet ports on the one side of my laptop were not working at all.
I rang the Toshiba warranty number and was instructed to update the bios.
It restarted straight away and came to the Windows log in screen and I entered my password.
After that the screen is just black.
It has been like that for 45min.
    How long should it take????????
The light that indicates hard drive activity flashed occasionaly.
How long should I wait and what should I do???
    Thanks

    Hi
I think 45min is too long time I think there is something wrong.
Last time I updated the BIOS on my Tecra unit and this took 2-3min but definitely not longer.
Maybe you should power off the unit and should reboot it once again.
    Good luck
