Satellite Pro A300D gets to warm and shuts down after short time. HELP!!!

Hallo together,
i bought the Satellite Pro A300D notebook 3 weeks ago. Since the beginning I have the problem that the notebook gets to warm and shuts down within an hour!
I dont run any high performance application and I keep the left side of the notebook free so that the warm air can get away! I already cleaned the heatpipe by using a hoover.
That couldnt be! I need the notebook for work and thats impossible...
What can I do? Do I have it to send in?
For help I am thankfull
Frank

Hi there DerVogel ,
Sounds like a Heat related issue ????????
Whenever it shutdown automatically does it turn on right away ? One symptom of a heat related issue is, it takes about several minutes before you can turn it back on again.
Here is how you can isolate the issue since it could also be a software related problem.
1) Turn on the system Tap F2 and boot on the system setup screen ( BIOS )
2) Just stay on the Bios , If it doest shutdown on the bios then you might need to reinstall windows. or check if system is infected with spyware or a virus.
But if it does the same thing then the best thing to so is to bring it to a Repair Center or Call Tech support for a depot service repair.
Cheers ! hope this will help.

  • G4 MDD FW800 starts up and shuts down after several seconds

    Hi all,
My G4 MDD FW800 DP.1,48 starts up and shuts down after about 20 seconds. I Have reset PMU and checked battery voltage, witch was OK. (also had it out for 30 minutes with no power connected etc.) I have video and also tried with NOTHING connected. But still it just powers down and failes to enter start up procedure.
Last time I had it running I pulled my iPod, beacause the computer did't see it, the next thing I saw on screen was the message to hold the power button for 5 to restart, after that I got the problem described above.
    Anybody?

  • Satellite Pro A300D-131 - warped casing and screen hinge scratches

Has anyone experienced a warped casing around the power button, mine is raised a good 1-2mm.
I also notice that the screen hinge clearance between the hinge and body is so tight that the silver effect finish it scratched to bits. The laptop is only a couple of months old and it looks decidedly tatty already, it just looks like poor case design.
    I have Satellite Pro A300D-131.

I have Satellite A300 in front of me. The notebook belong my girlfriend and it is about two months old. I have checked described areas and I didnt notice anything unusual.
To be honest I do not like this new Toshiba design because I like to have most of the ports on the back side but this new design has made by Toshiba to have more stabile screen hinges.
If you really think there is some serious problem I recommend you to contact nearest authorized service provider. They should take a look and give you advice what to do.
Discussing here on the forum will not help you much.

MacBook Pro battery ran low and computer shut down , after charging battery I tried to start up and I got an Apple on a gray screen with spinning wheel that went to a panic call out screen and that's as far as it will go. I've tried start up with command keys ,a few got me to a different screen but nothing has let me into any place I can use to try and repair problem. My MacBook Pro on start-up with just go dark and shut down. It makes a clicking or popping sound but there is no chime or other typical Mac sound. I can push the power button again and it will generally power up. It is becoming more frequent with time.
i recently had it in the Apple Store for repair... some cola was spilled on the keyboard.  They replaced the keyboard and through a series of circumstances replaced the logic board, case, and superdrive.
About a week or two afterward it started the odd start-up failure. At first only once every few days. Now almost daily. It concerns me.  I relay on this old Mac for work and even thought I use TimeMachine, it would be quite a hassle to have to replace it.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

  • Slow start up and shut down after Zenworks installation

I hope someone can help me out on this one. Not sure if I am posting the
right forum or not but here we go. After I installed Zenworks on our PC's
here at work, we have a noticed a distinct difference in how long it takes
for the PC's to start up and shut down. Before installation, everything
was very quick, like it should be. Now it seems to take some users 3-5
minutes to start and shut down their PC's. The machines are running
several different OS'es. Windows 98SE, Windows XP Pro SP1 and Windows XP
SP2. No one OS has more problems than the other. Has anyone heard of
Zenworks causing this issue or heard of a way to prevent this? I would
really appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thanks!

A rectangle box come up sometimes when I boot up my computer, it says, Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now? and has four boxes Restart, Sleep,Cancel and Shut Down. How can I get rid of this annoying occurance?

  • Starting up and shuts down after 30 seconds

My powerbook started doing this. It's starting up, you hear the chime , then the spinning thing with the gray screen, then it shuts down after about 30 seconds.
I did try a few things that I've read in different threads. I can do the single user mode and the black screen comes I can type the things from this thread but it doesn't look it works.. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1801027?threadID=1801027 . I did type those commands w/wo the "+" signs.
    Please help

The plus signs were remnant discussion formatting keys and are not part of the commands.
OK, here goes on what to do.  Boot into single user mode.  Then try the following  command
    /sbin/mount   -uw   / <enter>
which mounts the boot volume as write-enabled (it normally comes up read-only to begin with) then this command:
    /sbin/fsck   -fy   / <enter>
And let it attempt the repair of the boot volume.  It will either report that the volume is OK or that it has been repaired.  If it has been repaired, then repeat the second command until it just says things are OK.  Please post the results.
Note that usually, in single-user mode, those commands will appear as an advisory just before the first terminal prompt.

  • SL takes longer time to start up and shut down after "IceClean".

    Greetings,
After "IceClean" (both maintenance and cleanup), SL seems (obviously) to take longer time to start up and shut down.
Any idea why and how can I resolve it?
    Thank you so much.
    Cheers.

    Hi,
I've finally able to solve the problem. The problem was due to start up item. There were 2 trial application (expired long ago) in the folder. After clearing the application, start up and shut down are fast as light.
I think I've "awaken" the start up application after "IceClean" as IceClean has deleted their log file or something like that and therefore the applications have to run again.
In order to be fair to IceClean, it is my fault to be blamed.
    Thanks again.
    Cheers

  • Mac shuts down after 5 minutes  Help!!!!

My computer: imac G3, DV Special Edition, 500Mhz, 384 mb ram, 80 gig hard drive
This is an odd one...like many others before me the computer just died one day. it would not start up, no sounds, just dead. A few minutes later I tried to turn it on and it came on, but 5 minutes later, it died.
This is the strange part. I took the plug from the socket and waited a few minutes, then pluged the computer back up. It came on. But only for a few mintes and again shut off.
This time I left the plug in the socket, waited a few minutes and tried again. Nothing.
I then took the plug out waited about 30 minutes and it came back on for about 5 minutes and shut down. It only seems to come on if I let the computer sit idle with the plug out.
I have noticed that the computer does not keep time properly.
    What I have done.
    1. I have pressed the Cuda Button, and yes it did start up, but only for about 5 minutes.
    2. I have tried to reinstall the system hardware, but the computer dies before completion.
Should I replace the battery? What else can be done?
    Help!

I have the same problem. I don't have good news, though. I have replaced the battery, pressed the reset button, even replaced the power supply board (not the video board -- which is the only thing I have decided I'm not willing to do). My computer usually shuts down after 5 minutes, but will sometimes stay working fine for a couple of hours. I managed to update the firmware and OS to the very latest, but still it dies. Mine will also occasionally flicker and freeze, which can be restarted by holding down the power button.
I would replace the video board, except the people trying that don't have quite the same problem (theirs don't start up at all), and there is no source I've found that would have new boards, so you would get a bad board, or the same problem eventually. Some people point to a transformer on the video board, but again the symtoms are not quite the same (they smell burt electronics or hear a hissing/crackling sound before it dies.
I have just packed mine away and I'm working on a new G5, but I sure hope the old iMac can be fixed so my kids can use it. I just didn't want you to have to go down the same road just to find nothing helped. Good luck, and if you have any new ideas, I would be glad to hear them.

  • IPhone 4 still shutting down after RFU - please help!

    Hi all,
    Please can you help me!
I gave my daughter my old iPhone 4 which had hardly any apps and worked quite happily until she added instagram, candy crush and cooking fever.
Maybe it's a red herring but since then the phone keeps 'looping' and shutting down.
I did an RFU (that's pretty good for someone like me!) and that seemed to work for HALF a DAY but then we are back to the same problem.
It got worse when I did a restore of her data - perhaps there's a bug somewhere I don't know but we need this phone to work!
All suggestions to restore this phone so we can use it will be greatly appreciated
    Iphone 4 16GB

    Hi munster2,
Great troubleshooting so far. Have you tried not restoring from a back up? Because you said that it got worse after restoring the data that is where I would start. She can still install those apps and you can still sync over contact information from the computer or if she has a syncing service like iCloud to get that over.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Workstations - Not Getting "Install Updates and Shut Down" notification for new updates

We've got a small handful of Windows 8.1 Pro workstations on our domain (SBS 2008).
The workstations show up in the WSUS Console list along with the details of how many updates need to be installed.
On the Windows 8.1 Pro workstations, at the logon screen they display "Important Updates Are Available. Go to PC Settings to install them".  If we go to PC Settings or Windows Updates via Control Panel the updates show as awaiting installation.
However, we can't rely on users to go into PC Settings or Control Panel to install Windows Updates. We need them to be installed as per Windows 7 and Windows XP - whereby when the user shuts down their workstations it displays the message "Install Updates
    and Shutdown".
Currently the Windows 8.1 Pro workstations do not show this - if you choose to shut down there are no update installation messages and the workstations simply shut down.
Has anyone else encountered this? What needs to be done?
    Thanks in advance.
I don't work for Microsoft - I just use their products.

    It does sound weird yes.
Id like to try and mirror your setup in my lab.
What settings do you have in your WSUS GPO?
Have you seen this, in the 'Configure Automatic Updates' setting?
On Windows 8 and later, you can set updates to install during automatic maintenance instead of a specific schedule. Automatic maintenance will install updates when the computer is not in use, and avoid doing so when the computer
is running on battery power. If automatic maintenance is unable to install updates for 2 days, Windows Update will install updates right away. Users will then be notified about an upcoming restart, and that restart will only take place if there is no potential
    for accidental data loss.
Automatic maintenance can be further configured by using Group Policy settings here: Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Maintenance Scheduler
