Satellite Pro L100 important documents must be saved.
Basically, i have an old Sattelite Pro L100 that i used for college, i have been using it for many years and until recently i noticed it running slow. I downloaded some items that had a few virus'. I downloaded a scanning program called Malware remover, it done the job. Then stated the system must be restarted. I done this and now my machine will not even get to the windows boot up screen. I get enough time to hit F10 or F12 to enter boot settings and if i dont i get a black screen.
I have found my recovery disk, however before i run it i am worried it will remove everything on my system from valuable college work to valued photos. So is there an option further in the menu's?
Also, is there a REPAIR function anywhere that i can access that will enble me to just backup my valuable files and then comepletely wipe my system. I know you can do this on certain window versions????

If Barry asks you to try something please go back and inform us what have you tried and do it work or not.
In one sentence you write SAFE MODE is not accessible and I understand it you have tried it and it doesnt work but then you write I can't find it anywhere. What now?

Documents must be saved before they can be merged - PS CS6
I'm getting a "Documents must be saved before they can be merged" error message while trying to auto stitch panos in PS CS6. As always, I've copied and imported images into LR5, then select images and "edit images in>PS CS6". From there go to Automate>Photomerge and "add open images", which produces the error message.
Until two days ago I've had no problems merging panos using this process. I had not made any changes to my system when this problem started occurring. Since then I have installed Mac and Adobe updates hoping to resolve the issue with no luck.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Satellite Pro L100 - Crash during Bios update

I own a Satellite Pro L100 (PSLA4E)
From the Toshiba site I downloaded the BIOS update. Whilst installing it I read that it needed power cable plugged in. Before I could cancel it to get the cable it had started and then froze! The computer stopped working and so I turned it off! Since then I have read that, that was a very big mistake!
When turning it on the fan turns on and I can hear the cd drive spinning etc. After 15 seconds, which the screen is blank, the computer starts beeping!
Is there any way of fixing this?

Looks not good buddy according to your description something went wrong during the update procedure and now the ROM module was not flashed correctly.
Maybe you area lucky man and the motherboard is not damage but only the Rom module must be flashed again.
Unfortunately, this must be done by ASP technician. You will have to contact the ASP in your country for a help.

Satellite Pro L100 crashes when loaded with 2 x 1GB Ram
Hi,
Satellite Pro L100 - came with 512MB ram - Too slow - expanded using 2 x 1GB ram from crucial technology, speed 555MHz
When both 1GB installed, laptop crashes on the XP boot screen - then loops, crashes, loops, crashes etc...
Tried alternating the slots and using ram independantly - No change - so ruled out faulty ram
Tried shippped memory with 1 x expanded 1GB ram - All OK.
Tried every orientation conceivable - just crashes when expanded ram is loaded to its specificed max - 2GB.
Upgraded BIOS to 3.2 - no change
Does anyone here have any other suggestions? I fear my last resort is to dig deep and get more ram from a diff OEM, prefer not to hence asking politely for help

Download the bootable Memtest CD ISO from www.memtest.org and run it for a few passes. -
Satellite Pro L100 does not run after BIOS update
Ok the machine is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4. Problem occurred during a BIOS update from the official Toshiba website. I downloaded the zip file, extracted it and activated the .exe file inside.
The window opened by the .exe was a BIOS flashing program, the .exe also simultaneously wrote a new BIOS file to a temporary folder.
When tried to use the program all I got was an error saying that it couldn't find the new BIOS to input.
I tried again only to get the same error. I then left the laptop for several minutes and when I returned, I found a blank unresponsive laptop.
By unresponsive I mean an obvious lack of BIOS functions i.e. power LED's not changing when plugging in of unplugging from the mains and the fact that I had to pull the battery out to turn the machine off. When the machine is turned on now all it does is check the drives and restarts (no display, no beeps)
What do I do?
The first thing that came to mind was to reset the BIOS.
One problem, I can't find the RTC battery or a jumper switch.I have at least found out why this happened, the program obtained from Toshiba automatically 'attempts' to upgrade the BIOS upon activation. This means that the program engaged with errors without my authorisation. I don't find this very impressive from a company as large and powerful as Toshiba.
Also it may be possible to fix myself if the BIOS installation instructions made sense, extracting the .zip file does not create three sub folders and pressing the F12 key does not start the laptop. -
Laptop crashes when using the internet - Satellite Pro L100
Hi i got my laptop (satellite pro L100) 5 days ago and i connect through a router to the internet, but over the last few days when im using the internet a help window opens automatically and about 90 internet explorer windows open, it became really frustrating, im using norton which came with it, anyone got any ideas ive ran a virus scan and adaware scan but came up with nothing

I can understand you very well. For me its a shock if 90 IE windows would appear on my little notebook screen. SCREAM !!! :O
However, did you install any 3rd party applications which could open the windows?
I think this is not a normal system state and if it appears since view days so you should try to roll back the OS to the early point.
Furthermore you could try to check in the MSCONFIG what background processes runs on the OS. If there are some very strange processes you should disable it and you should remove it from the autorun. -

Here's the approach to eliminate the "documents must be saved before youy can merge files"
Do not open files first......
Open Photoshop
The select File/Atomate/Photomerge
A dialog box will open
Select BROWSE
Now select your files to be merged in proper sequential order
Select the method of merge to be used
Click OK
All done -

Windows XP Home for Satellite
Windows XP Professional for Satellite Pro
The difference between the models L100-xxx is just the equipment.
For Example the CPU:
Sat L100-175: Core Duo T2500; 2.0 GHz
Sat Pro L100-176: Core Duo T2400; 1.83 GHz

Satellite Pro L100: Ghosting with Symantec Ghost Suite 1.0
Hi all,
Have brought 50 pro L100's hoping to able to just set one of them up then ghost the image to the other's.
I can't get Ghost to work at all, the boot disk binds to the Nic no problems, but when it starts to load the dos based ghost console it just freezes and won't go any further.
have tried the -FNI switch, 3Com bootservices, PC Dos, and various versions of MS DOS, am quite stumped to why it's not working.
Have got 15 Pro A20's and had no problems ghosting them, it's strange, is there something I've missed??

JayI had exactly the same problem not so long ago. I managed to get to the bottom of it after much much frustration!!!
The L100 uses SATA, ghost doesn't understand all SATA drives and needs a little help to know where the drive is and how it works. So, when you launch ghost you need to launch GHOST.EXE -NOIDE
This will definetly work, you owe me big time!

What I might have expected is a "no you can't do that" OR "why not take out the old motherboard and purchase a new one from xxxxxx"Jerry you have posted a 2,912 solutions but I DO NOT count this as one of those solutions. So will get NO kudos or thanks from me. In the end I have solved my own problem, and if I mess up with the laptop I will just chuck it in the bin.

Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4: ATI graphic card crashes in Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2
Hi,
I have a Sattelite Pro L100 (PSLA4) with ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card.
While playing Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 2, the system often crashes (screen goes black, then blue, then computer automatically resets). After restarting, the Microsoft Error Report tells me that it is a problem with the ATI card display driver and recommends updating the driver.
I note Toshiba has not released a new display driver for this card since 2005, and attempts to update through the ATI website do not work.
Is there any way to update the graphics driver, or does Toshiba have any plans to release an update.

I have had various problems with the outdated graphics driver for quite some time, and never knew about the Omega Drivers site, but everything works now thanks to you. I couldn't update the driver using the "Install from specific location", but I just ran the setup program that I downloaded from Omega Drivers, and it installed and worked fine.

Silas is right. The keyboard is secured with 2 screws which must be removed.
These screws are hidden under the thin cover near to the keyboard.
Please be careful! The keyboard is connected to the motherboard with the flat cable!
I dont know your notebook experience but if you dont know how to do it I would recommend contacting the technician for a help!

I'm attempting to merge ten portrait format 24 Mpx JPGs. The message appears after I click "Add Open Files".
I get the same message when attempt to merge other files, even a small number of them.
I've been through the process successfully using PSE12.Here's a thread on that:

Photomerge "Images must be saved before they can be merged"
When I select the files to be merged and check off how they are to be merged I receive the message "Documents must be saved before they can be merged" and no type of saving or file type will proceed beyond this point no matter what I do. These are raw files saved specifically for merging following the rules for panoramas as outlined (overlap, level, manual settings, etc.). Other times everything moves along smoothly and the panorama is successful. I cannot find a commonality that defines success or failure of the procedure. Has anyone had this or a similar problem and how can it be resolved. Please do not just recite the proceedure as described in the manual. This procedure has been followed to the letter and still the problem exists.
