Satellite Pro L300 doesn't reboot after BIOS upgrade from TOSHIBA Site

After a BIOS upgrade made under windows,my system doesn't reboot any more.F2,F8 keys are ineffective at power up time. The screen remains black and there is only some permanent accesses to the CD/DVD reader.
Can somebody explained me what has happended and how to repair if possible? Must i reflash the BIOS or something else.
Thanks a lot

In my opinion something went wrong during the update and the ROM module has not been flashed properly.
According to people here in the forum, only an Toshiba service agent can help you.
But I found an interesting thread here in the forum which might be helpful to you.

  • Satellite Pro L300 will not boot after Bios update

    Help please.
I have just formated a Satellite Pro L300 laptop.
I used all the updated drivers from Toshiba and all went very well.
I then updated the bios with the latest version.
After doing this the laptop will not boot but just keeps scrolling through the start menu and no matter what option I choose it just keeps doing the same thing.
    Any ides welcome

    Hi
I used the Microsoft installation disk but just keep getting to the same stage until the blue screen appears. I have tried different installation disks and also changed the hard drives as well. I can do everything in bios, change boot device enable or disable devices but that is it. I have tried a few times to instal windows but it just stops at the same point saying windows is stopping instal to protect the system. I fear the bios update has done some permanent damage as I cant get past the dreaded blue screen. Thanks anyway

  • Satellite L40 (PSL48E) - Doesn't reboot after BIOS update

    Hi,
My problem is that I update the BIOS and after that the machine does not restart. ( BIOS corrupt ? )
After the BIOS update (Satellite L40 PSL48E) the machine reboot and with the F2 key I open the BIOS setup.
I check the BIOS version ( 5.50 ) and exit the BIOS setup. The machine must be reboot now.....
No Way, the machine does not restart . No screen only the powerled lights-up.
Is there anything I can to fix it on my own like a BIOS reset ?
    Thank you for cooperation.

This is strange because after the BIOS update you could go into the BIOS.
However, try to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor. Wait one hour and then put the battery in and connect the AC/DC adaptor. Try it again.
If it doesnt work there is something wrong with the BIOS or hardware and should be checked by a notebook technician.

  • Satellite Pro L300-EZ1004X - TouchPad stopped working, BIOS update does not help

I have a Satellite Pro L300-EZ1004X laptop. Few days ago TouchPad stopped working. This is not a Fn + F9 issue.
In Device Manager it looks like hidden device and has (!) on it. Re-installing Synaptics drivers, updating them, removing the device in Safe Mode - nothing works. (TouchPad did not work in Safe Mode). One of the forums mentioned BIOS update. For some strange reason the latest BIOS for this specific laptop is from 2008 (ver. 1.5). Other L300 laptops have option to update BIOS to ver. 2.20 (2010) but not mine! I tried to load it (ver. 2.20)from Windows and from boot disk without success. I installed BIOS ver. 1.5. After reboot - keyboard stop working! And TouchPad ... still dead and still appears as hidden device. Using external mouse I restarted the laptop and get into the BIOS settings. In Advanced Settings disabled TouchPad completely. KEYBOARD START WORKING IN WINDOWS!!!
Any suggestions on how to make this TouchPad to work? Or how to get newer BIOS for this Laptop?
    Thank you in advance!

Sounds like it has died, you can purchase a new one from a parts supplier and pay someone to install it or if you are any good with such things you can try to do it yourself.  I suggest just sticking with the external mouse.

  • Satellite L300 refuses to boot after BIOS upgrade

    Hi,
My girlfriend's L300 was lagging terribly so we decided to format C:. We did this with the accompanying XP restore disk.
Then we had to upgrade the drivers. We started the installation of the BIOS upgrade from the Toshiba driver website, went away for a while and when we came back the computer had restarted of itself.
It was stuck in a cycle of the "windows loading" screen and the one with a bottom bar that says press F2 for this or F12 for that. Tried all options in the boot menu, not even safe mode works.
We tried to reformat with the previous method, by inserting XP CD and holding down the 'C' button while starting. We get the familiar 'Windows Setup' screen, and it seems to load all the windows setup files from the CD. But when we get to the installation, we get a blue screen error message. 'A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.....Technical information: ***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D254,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
Nothing seems to work, please help! We really want to save the images, on the D: disk partition.

    Hi
Try to set the BIOS to default settings.
You have to access the BIOS and there you could set it to default.
Please check if you can install the OS using the SATA mode -> AHCI and compatible.
If you use AHCI then you have to include the SATA drivers. If you use the compatible mode, then SATA drivers are not needed.
If you want to get access to the HDD before installing the OS in the C partition, then I would recommend booting the notebook using a Windows Live CD like WinPE or BartPe.
Both are live cds which dont need a installation you have to boot from such disk only to get access to the content on the HDD.

  • Satellite Pro L300 wont boot up after updating BIOS from 1.30 to 1.50

    Dear All,
I own a Toshiba Satelklite Pro L300 and had no problems for the past 4 years. Last Monday I replaced my Hard Drive with a new one and after installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro, I downloaded all the drivers from the offical website. Upon finishing my last update, I updated the BIOS from version 1.30 to 1.50. After a few seconds my laptop restarted and was unable to load Windows and/ or recognise my new Hard Disk.
I tried several methods, being Safe Mode, Bios Optimun Defaults etc but was unsuccesful. IO could not even re-install Windows as the Hard Drive is not being recognised by the Laptop. I formatted the HD again via my desktop Pc but still have the same problem.
I am really worried and would appreciate immediate help!
    Best Regards,
    Engelbert

    > I formatted the HD again via my desktop Pc but still have the same problem.
What happen exactly when you switch your notebook on?
Set BIOS to deult settings and try to install original recovery image that you got with your notebook. If everything works OK that means HDD upgrade was successful and there is no some serious hardware problem.
After this check you can try to install WXP again.
    Please post some feedback.

  • Satellite L300 - webcam doesn't work after BIOS upgrade

I recently upgraded BIOS to 2.2 and the webcam has stopped working. It disappeared and there is one unknown device in the device manager in the universal serial bus controller.
I tried everything even with new clean fresh Vista OS but nothing like there is no webcam I installed the drivers but not recognized so I would like if I can to downgrade BIOS to 1.5 and to fix the webcam. If I can cos I need it. Is that possible?
    Tnx

    Hi
I dont think its BIOS issue.
First of all the unknown device (webcam) appears in the device manager and this means that an device has been recognized by system and BIOS.
The only reason why its listed as unknown devices is: the driver is not installed properly.
After BIOS update you have to set the BIOS back to default. Access BIOS pressing F2 and within the BIOS you can use the button F9 to set it to default and F10 to save the changes.
After that you should boot up the unit and should go to device manager.
Mark the unknown device and delete it from the list (if possible)
Go to control panel -> software and check the software list for webcam software (from chicony). Uninstall this software if its part of the list.
    Now reboot the notebook.
Clean the OS using CCleaner and install the correct webcam software for Vista. Note: please pay attention to 32bit or 64bit version.
If the installation would fail, try the Toshiba recovery disk and set the notebook back to factory settings.
By the way: BIOS downgrade is not possible because the old BIOS is not downloadable.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A200 - Screen goes black after BIOS screen

    Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have quite a big problem. So any help is welcome and appreciated.
My Satellite Pro A200 goes black after the BIOS screen and a black screen with a blinking cursor. Also just before the screen goes black a bleep can be heard which shows windows is booting.
I can access the toshiba set-up screen but not the safety mode set-up.
    Kind Regards

    Hello
You wrote that you can access the BIOS but have you checked if the HDD is recognized properly? Maybe the computer cannot boot because HDD isnt recognized so you should check this.
If the HDD is recognized I would try a recovery installation from Toshiba recovery disk. It seems that Windows isnt able to start and if you reinstall the whole system it should help to get rid of this. Just go in boot menu and select CD/DVD drive as boot device.
    Check this!!!

  • Satellite Pro L100 does not run after BIOS update

Ok the machine is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4. Problem occurred during a BIOS update from the official Toshiba website. I downloaded the zip file, extracted it and activated the .exe file inside.
The window opened by the .exe was a BIOS flashing program, the .exe also simultaneously wrote a new BIOS file to a temporary folder.
When tried to use the program all I got was an error saying that it couldn't find the new BIOS to input.
I tried again only to get the same error. I then left the laptop for several minutes and when I returned, I found a blank unresponsive laptop.
By unresponsive I mean an obvious lack of BIOS functions i.e. power LED's not changing when plugging in of unplugging from the mains and the fact that I had to pull the battery out to turn the machine off. When the machine is turned on now all it does is check the drives and restarts (no display, no beeps)
    What do I do?
The first thing that came to mind was to reset the BIOS.
One problem, I can't find the RTC battery or a jumper switch.

I have at least found out why this happened, the program obtained from Toshiba automatically 'attempts' to upgrade the BIOS upon activation. This means that the program engaged with errors without my authorisation. I don't find this very impressive from a company as large and powerful as Toshiba.
Also it may be possible to fix myself if the BIOS installation instructions made sense, extracting the .zip file does not create three sub folders and pressing the F12 key does not start the laptop.

  • Satellite L300 does't run after BIOS update from V2.10 to V2.20

    Hi
I just installed BIOS V2.20 over the Bios V2.10 for my Toshi Satellite L300 over Windows XP.
Afterwerwards the Machine starts and shows just the XP starting window and the restart that I have the options save restart or normal restatr.
Nothing runs any more? Even starting from Windows-CD has no effect.
    Who can help?

Thanks for you suggestions, but F2 did not help.
I performed the Bios update because on the website of Toshiba, there was written, hat the update increases function of the system.
I just called the update service. They mentioned I should reinstall Win XP, because my Computer starts, but Windows is not starting.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1AX doesn't boot after BIOS update

    Hello all!
I wanted to install XP on a Satellite A200-1AX.
So I tried to update the Bios to the version that supports XP.
When I tried to install it, Vista crashed and now the laptop won't even turn on.
When I keep the power button pressed, the fan wheezes but nothing else happens.
I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted.
    What do I do?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    > When I keep the power button pressed, the fan wheezes but nothing else happens. I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted. What do I do?
What to say buddy. Looks like something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure Possibly the BIOS was not written correctly and the ROM module must be flashed again using a special procedure and tool.
In such case you can do nothing you have to contact the ASP in your country for a fix!!!
Dont waste a time and ask an authorized service technician for a help.
    Good luck and best regards

  • Satellite A110-260 doesn't run after RAM upgrade

    A110-260 - 512 MB Ram - 533 MHZ - 100GB - BIOS V1.20 (2 years old)
    Hello,
my first attempt to upgrade my RAM failed.
After correct installation of 2 Kingston 1GB Ram (Typ: RMN 2-.800/1GB SO-Dimm DDR 2), my notebook didn't start again, only 5 short sounds (in owners manual: not the right extended memory).
Curios: 1 Kingston 1 GB-Ram mixed with original Toshiba 512 MB-Ram, the notebook boots, but reaches only 896 MB extended memory. Performance not signifikant better.
    Who can help me ?
    Andi11

Is that Kingston memory 800MHz? That laptop is designed for 533MHz Memory (PC4200). Usually the 800MHz Memory will bump down to 533MHz (probably using the SPD table), but there may be a compatibility problem.
So ultimately you should buy 533MHz DDR2 Memory with similar CAS/RAS Timing as the original Toshiba Memory.
Perhaps the second RAM slot is faulty? If you run CPU-Z, can it detect the second module correctly?
Note that the Graphics card may use some System Memory as Video Memory, so it sounds like the laptop sees the 1GB Module but reserved 96MB for the graphics.

  • 6710b keeps rebooting after bios upgrade

I flashed the bios of my 6710b notebook.  Now I get the message "The bios failed to complete the update.  Please ensure that you follow the correct proceedures and try again.  This may require two sequential updates to complete the process." The machine continually recycles giving me the same message.  I have downloaded the bios but I can never get to it on the CD or flash drive because the machine restarts before it can initialize.  I tried using the Windows key + B. I also tried removing the CMOS battery.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Removing the CMOS battery will not help. That option went away about six years ago.
You can download the BIOS softpaq, extract it  and put it on the usb flash drive by using a different Windows PC.

  • Satellite P10-504 doesn't boot after RAM upgrade

Just got 2x 1GB sticks of DDR 400 soddim's, and no boot.
Now after reading up on what I could find on similar models, seems that these older laptops may not handle that fast of ram?
Would using some DDR 266 be more appropriate?

    Hi
If the notebook doesnt boot up then there is a big chance that the RAM is either nto compatible or its faulty.
    I think its not compatible.
    I found this page:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=7090&ft=m&st=3
According to this page the P10 supports the *200-Pin PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SODIMM* memory modules!
So your RAMs are not compatible!

  • Printing PDDoc with AFExecuteThisScript() doesn't work after an upgrade from SDK 5 to SDK8

    Hello,
I have made an upgrade of my plug-in which was developed with the Acrobat 5 SDK. I upgrade it to Acrobat 8 SDK and my print function doesn't work anymore.
Actually I print my document using a javascript trusted function instead the function provided by the C++ library for internal reason.
Here below is the code used to print my document :
    char szJavaPrint[6000];
    sprintf(szJavaPrint,
    "pp = this.getPrintParams(); \r\n"
    // fill pp with parameters
    "pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.silent; \r\n"
    "\r\n"
    "this.trustedPrint(this, pp);"
    PDDoc pdDoc = AVDocGetPDDoc(avDoc);
    AFExecuteThisScript(pdDoc, szJavaPrint, NULL);
It was working with the Acrobat 5 SDK but the print seems to have no effect using the Acrobat 8 SDK. I know that there is a change between Acrobat 5 and 8 concerning the Character Set (currently I set the Character Set to "Not Set" in the Configuration Properties of the project) but I don't think that my problem comes from the Character Set.
All ideas to resolve this problem are welcome.
    Kind regards,
    Joe

See what happens if you remove the "setting of interactive to silent"...
There is a restriction on silent printing in Acrobat, but I would not have expected that to be passed into this method - but it could have been overlooked and be a bug.
Also, I don't recall a trustedPrint() method in Acrobat JS - check the documentation for the correct name of this function...
