Satellite Pro S300 and AES1610 fingerprint scanner

To whom it may concern,
I have a Toshiba Pro S300 laptop with AES1610 fingerprint scanner.
Everytime i boot windows and has been occuring for over a week now, it continually pops up wanting to install an update for AES1610, when you select ok to finish installing software it eventually opens up Truesuite Access software, and then wants to modify repair or remove.
Please can someone help me resolve this issue.
The fingerprint sensor and truesuite software is still fully operational as well.

Hi
I had this happen with Vista, it seems that Vista is trying to install newer drivers from the Windows Update site.
Warning: this might delete your finger prints and any saved passwords in the utility so if this happens you will need to add them back, make sure you know your windows password as well to get back in.
What I did from memory.
1) Go through the setup and click Finish.
2) Go to Start - Control Panel - Programs and Features
3) Find the TrueSuite Access Manager entry and uninstall that program
4) Reboot the machine.
Then...
1) Go to Start - Control Panel - Device Manager
2) Find the Personal identification devices entry and expand to see the AuthenTec Inc entry, right click it and go to Update Driver Software and use Search Automatically. This should find the newer version that Windows wants to install from the update site, follow the wizard and that hopefully will be the end of it.
I think what is happening is Windows update is trying to install a newer version but as the older version is still on the machine it's setup program is detecting the driver/program has changed and is then prompting to re-install the older version, so you get stuck in a loop.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Phil

  • Satellite Pro S300 - Screen is blank and can't reboot

About a week ago, I left my Satellite Pro S300-EZ2502 on overnight (as usual). It was fine that night.
The next day, I had a black screen and a flashing amber light at the left side. I tried turning it off, rebooting, no dice. I have tried removing the battery and rebooting under just AC power, nothing, I have tried the opposite. Nothing. I have tried letting the battery run out and then recharge. No help. Very occasionally when I plug it back in, I will get a green light for a few seconds, but then back to the flashing amber light. Nothing EVER on the screen.
I have only had this Notebook since MAY!! what is wrong!!

This interests me, as I have three of these S series laptops and two have failed in similar manner so far.
It can be rectified temporarily by removing the battery, then pressing the start button for several seconds to discharge the capacitor (Toshiba told me to do this) and then using the power cable to start up again. It usually works.
Not very elegant to take out its guts though
My problems started in late August early September - is this significant?
Are you using XP or Vista?
Toshiba have not mended the problem despite two journeys for repair for one machine.
What does the blinking light sequence this orange light taps out mean? Nothing in the papers I have looked at.
My machines were bought in March

  • Satellite Pro S300 - HDD in caddy is not recognized by BIOS

I have replaced the original HDD and installed a new SSD which works fine.
Installed the W7Pro and all updates.
I do not use my CD-Writer so I replaced the CD-drive and installed a caddy with my old HDD to have more diskspace.
When I boot my laptop I see a message CD-ROM ERROR.
In device manager the caddy and or the HDD are not shown.
I tried to change settings in the BIOS (according Toshiba utility the latest version) but even in the Bios is no information about the present SSD or the installed HDD. (or the CD-Drive when I re-install this drive again)
What is wrong here? Do I need an updated BIOS that allows the 2nd HDD?
Or do I overlook a setting somewhere?
NB In the BIOS the HDD drive settingis according ACPI, in the listing below it is mentioned as IDE device.
When I enter in the BIOS IDE in stead of ACPI I still see the CD-ROM ERROR during boot and after this message the screen is blue and no further activity.

Thank you for the help sofar.
Indeed I do have a third party caddy. I first bought one (no brand) at MyCom. At MyCom I was told that that unit would work on my Toshiba. Well, it didn't so I returned the caddy.
Then I contacted the company note bookcaddy through internet.
They thought it should work and they have sent me a new caddy from their brand (without payment; just to try!)
They have tried a lot to help me make this unit work. But it failed until now.
Does the bios check for the message that the CD-drive is available and does it not except the message from the HDD device that it is not a CD-Drive?
Maybe I only have to change the wiring inside the caddy to let the Bios think there is a drive present?

  • How can i do to recovery Satellite Pro S300

    Hi ...
I am Frman From Kurdistan Of Iraq
thanks for this forums to take all outfit .
I want help me for recovery my laptop.
How can i do recovery my laptop toshiba sattelite pro s300 with all driver but i depletion my data in my laptop to recovery.
Can you help me? send me data to recovery .
    Thank you

    Hello Frman
The whole story is very simple. To learn how to identify and find drivers for your notebook do as follow:
    # Go to http://www.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails and put X8016403H serial number there. You will see there exact name and model number of your notebook.
    # According model name you have US notebook model so go to US support page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
    # Click on download and choose Laptops > Satellite Pro > S300-EZ2501
    # All stuff you need you can find now.
Please note: recovery image is not downloadable and you will not be able to find it. I presume you don't have original Toshiba disc. So your best option is to install supported operating system using Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find in US Toshiba download section.
If you have more questions please let us know.

  • How to enter BIOS settings on my Satellite Pro S300?

    Hi
It can look stupid but I'm trying to access to the BIOS menu on my TOSHIBA Satellite Pro S300-EZ1511 and i can't, i searched for that on the manual but i couldn't find anything.
I need to go there so i can change the SATA settings to IDE so i can install windows XP system after i formatted the Vista.
    Thanks

It should be in the Users Manual somewhere.
Turn on the laptop, and hold down the ESC key. Then press F1 when it prompts you.

  • How to boot from SD-card on Satellite Pro S300?

My windows 7 32bit based S300 has a build-in SD card reader. The Toshiba utility for making the SD card bootable comes with an error message stating Fault: 00-61-FF02-26.
Is does not see or recognize the card.
In the BIOS version 3.00 WIN there is also no possilility for booting from SD card.
The SD card can be formatted and you can read and write to the card.
    Why is this not possible?

As far as I know the BIOS of the Satellite Pro S300 supports the following bootable devices:
    - USB FDD,
    - Primary HDD,
    - ODD (or USB ODD),
    - Network(LAN),
    - SD-CARD,
    - USB Memory, supported at the same time
So BIOS provides the booting from SD card.
    You should try following way:
Insert the SD card in the SD card slot and then power up the notebook.
Then press F12 in order to get the boot menu. Now the SD card should appear in the menu

  • Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514 - Cannot initialize Solid State Drive (SSD)

    I have a Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514.
Recently I purchased a SATA II Cavalry 64GB SSD to replace the current hard drive. First I tried to install XP with SATA drivers streamlined in.
The install process recognized the SSD and did the initial file copy to it, but when it restarted to continue the install process the system would not boot from the drive.
Then I tried installing Vista Business 64 from the recovery disk that came with the laptop.
After initiating the recovery disk, the install process said the hard drive was not Initialized and to click OK to initialize now.
After clicking OK to initialize the system restarted only to end up on the same screen telling me to initialize the hard drive.
Then I tried to initialize the drive manually off of my desktop.
Plugged it into my desktop, initialized it and formatted it to NTFS. Plugged it back into the laptop to try Vista recovery again. And yet again the same screen shows up. Plugged the SSD back into the desktop only to find that the drive was no longer initialized and had to be initialized again.
Then I gave up and installed the SSD to my desktop as primary boot and it installed perfectly fine with XP. For testing purposes I then put the ssd with the pre-installed XP back into the laptop to see what happens. To my dismay the laptop would not boot and on top of that when I put the SSD back into the desktop only to find that the drive was no longer initialized and I had to reinstall XP again.
    Conclusion:
It seems that the Satellite Pro S300 series is not SSD friendly and just the post it self de-initializes the Solid State Drives.
This seems like the logical conclusion as the SSD works perfectly fine on my desktop and the laptop is fine now with the old spinning hard drive back in.
Anyone else have this problem or a solution?
I would still like to put the SSD into my laptop for power saving.

Im using AHCI mode, but for testing I tried both and neither one worked. My bios is already up to the latest version and unfortunately the Cavalry site does not have any firmware updates yet. Again I don't think the drive is bad cuz it works perfectly fine on a desktop that had the same intel chip set and SATA controller. I think it's the custom boot agent that Toshiba uses at boot. Anyone know how to disable that agent and the intel boot agent as well? I read somewhere that the agents are not needed for the boot process and that in some cases they do cause issues like mine.

  • Satellite Pro S300-121: Win 7 64bit installation: yes or no

    i have win7 32bit on my Satellite Pro S300-121.
I have 4gb of ram installed.
Should i install the 64bit version or will i not notice any difference in speed?
I know i have to do a clean install but is it worth it for the S300-121 any pros and cons either way, your thoughts

    > Should i install the 64bit version or will i not notice any difference in speed?
Generally speaking yes but before you do anything check Toshiba download page at first and be sure Win7 64bit is supported for your notebook model.
If not than leave it. There is no sense to use non-supported OS without right drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities.
In the past many people have had such problems.

  • Satellite Pro S300-EZ1512 no sound

I recently reformatted back to XP Pro SP3 from a machine that came with stock vista.  I manually updated all drivers with no conflicts.  I have installed and uninstalled>reinstalled my audio drivers along with all other drivers, one at a time with restarts in between.  Device manager says my audio device is working properly. Volume is up nothing is muted.  Yet there is no sound. Not from the internal speakers nor from the headphone jack.  Everywhere I look everything is supposedly working properly yet clearly that is not the case.  Any help greatly appreciated.
    Edited to say:
Yes I even uninstalled and let windows detect the audio device itself.  Which it did, and installed with no conflict but again- still no sound.

  • What is the difference between Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series?

As mentioned in another thread, I have a SP4220XCDT that died on me.
I bought a mobo from ebay which was from a 4290, and today it arrived, but the problem was that it has a seemingly fixed CPU, which stands out much less from the board than the one on the 4220 board, and therefore does not connect with the cooling mechanism from my 4220.
At least something comes on when I start up now, but unfortunately it doesn't get past the Toshiba screen which tells you to press F2 for boot sequence.
Having also spent money on memory and a new cpu, I don't want to let this one go, and have seen a motherboard available suitable for a 4320/40/60 - anyone know if this will fit in with the rest of my 4220? It doesn't have a cpu so presumably will have the same mechanism as the 4220 mainboard.
I'm assuming that these might be compatible since I have managed to find a pdf of a service manual which covers both the 4200 and 4300, although unfortunately the first page is missing so I dont' know if that highlights any differences.
It's frustrating that there are no pdfs available for these older models, at least with specs on them, and it's very hard to find any info.
As usual, thanks for any help!

    Hi
As far as I know both series uses the Intel Mobile Pentium III microprocessor with MMX?Technology.
    I found out these details:
Satellite 4260 Series: Mobile Pentium III 450MHz
Satellite 4270 Series: Mobile Intel Celeron 500MHz
Satellite 4280 Series: Mobile Pentium III 500MHz
Satellite 4320 Series: Mobile Pentium III 600MHz featuring Intel SpeedStep Technology
Satellite 4340 Series: Mobile Pentium III 650MHz featuring Intel SpeedStep Technology
The notebooks measures should be also the same. So in my opinion it should be possible to use the same motherboard in Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300.

I'm using my X205 with one HDU on vista (ICK, but ok for now till I buy 64 bit win 7) and one on WIN7 Pro 32 bit.  The vista side sees and uses the finger scanner o.k., but the WIN7 side (although the driver appears there) doesn't see the fingerprint scanner.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Ask on the PS forum. Yes, it has in part to do with 32bit vs. 64bit, but just as much as your vendor's driver compatibility on a more generic level.

  • Floppy Disk drives for Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series

I have four Satellite Pro laptops - a 4340, a 4310, a 4270 and a 4280 and I'm having difficulty getting the 4310 and the 4270 to recognise a particular FDD. My understanding was that Mitsumi D353G FDDs were compatible with these 4200 and 4300 series laptops but I can't get the 4270 and the 4310 to "see" them. They will both however "see" an alternative FDD I have - a Pansonic JU-226A202FC but I only have one of them and two laptops needing a replacement FDD. I have tried a D353G that I know works (from my 4280) in both the 4310 and the 4270 but to no avail. I'm keeping an eye out for another Pansonic JU-226A202FC FDD on ebay but no luck so far. It's so frustrating as I'm sure a D353G FDD should work in the 4270 and 4310 and I have two spare ones which I wanted to use. I've looked in TSETUP.exe and can see no settings I can change to make these laptops see the D353G FDDs so any help or insight greatly appreciated. Does anyone out there have a 4270 or a 4310 successfully running a D353G FDD or, is this a quirk and these two particular models were only made to work with a Pansonic JU-226A202FC FDD not the D353G FDDs? Any clues?

    Hello
Unfortunately I am not technician but I assume that there is obviously some problem with compatibility. It is possible that pin assignment is different and you can not use them. If you want to have a precise explanation you should contact technicians. I am pretty sure that they have motherboard schemes and can give you a proper explanation and advice how to handle with this problem.
    Good luck!

    Hi
It seems this is a common error message if an application doesnt run as it should.
According to this short error, the applications or process called ToDisc.exe has crashed. This file belongs to the Toshiba Disc Creator software.
In my opinion its really not easy to say why it happens but my first idea is that your have used a not compatible or not fully supported CD or DVD to burn the Toshiba image.
The image is really a big file and therefore you should use a DVD medium. Please check the user manual to get more details!!!
Ive got additional advice; try to use different DVD from different manufacturers because sometimes not all mediums are supported.
    Bye

  • Satellite Pro 2100 and new hard drive

    Hi,
    I've seen on another post that L0nestar has installed a Western Digital WD2500BEVE (250GB, 5400RPM) into a Pro 2100.
The question I have is what interface is required EIDE or SATA? The original drive states its a SATA interface, but the WD2500BEVE is an EIDE interface?
Hope someone can clear this up for me.
    Cheers.

As far as I know all old notebook models have HDDs with EIDE interface. Satellite Pro 2100 is delivered with Enhanced IDE (ATA-5) HDD.
