Satellite PRO S300M-EZ2401 Recovery Disc---Vista Business or XP SP3

I bought this second hand with a Microsoft XP Service Pack 3 Recovery Disc (XP OS). It is Windows Vista Enabled with licensed sticker at the bottom which I assume is a Vista Business CD key. If I order a recovery disc for this model, will I get the one with a vista business installer so I can use the CD key at the bottom? I have read in one of the messages in the forum that a retail version installer will not recognize the CD key found at the bottom of this laptop as this is an OEM. confused confused. I thought I can just get a vista business installer and put in the cd key.

Satellite Pro S300M-EZ2401
Since the specs above say it comes with Windows Vista Business (32/64-bit version), SP1, then I think it's fair to infer that's what the recovery discs will contain.
The package may also include the downgrade media mentioned there.
In any case, the key on the bottom is irrelevant. Whichever Windows becomes available when you restore from  recovery discs is pre-activated. There is no activation required.

  • Satellite pro s300m - Upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business

    Hello All
I bought a new Satellite Pro S300m Ez2401 and it came with Vista business and i downgraded it to XP Pro using the XP Pro media that accompanied the Laptop.
If i want to upgrade it to Vista business, How do i do it? I did not create a recovery Media when i switched on the system the first time and Vista Business came up.
Would the preinstalled Vista Business be in the Hard Disk and can i upgrade it from there? If so, would it also have the drivers along with it?
How many Intel WiFi 5100 AGN  antennas does my laptop have?
    Thank you.
    Jay
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Jay,
To find out whether or not your recovery partition is still intact, shut down the system (not in Stand By or Hibernate mode).  Then press and hold down the '0' (zero) key while turning the system on.  It will boot into a recovery menu if that partition is intact.
You won't be able to upgrade to Vista Business, and by that I mean that you cannot retain your data and programs.  But you can return the laptop to the factory condition with a fresh installation of Vista Business.
So you'll end up with exactly what you had when you first took it out of the box and turned it on, including an appropriate set of drivers.  Before running the recovery process, you'll want to backup all data you want to keep, and when recovery is complete you'll need to reinstall any software.
If holding down '0' while turning the system on does not result in a recovery menu then you can call Customer Service (800-457-7777) to order a set of recovery media for a nominal fee.

  • How to upgrade to Vista from Windows XP Pro on system preloaded with Vista Business?

I have a new T61p preloaded with "Genuine Windows Vista Business downgrade to Windows XP Professional" and had it shipped with the Windows XP Pro downgrade.
Where can I can find the procedure to "upgrade" back to Vista if/when I decide to do so?  I would also like to know the pro's and con's of doing so.  For example:  will I need to reload my applications, etc?
    Please advise.
    Thanks much.
    Gary Grathen

Firstly you should create recovery discs for Vista and backup your files before downgrading to XP. When you are ready to revert back to Vista you can use these to install it.
The discs will return your T61p to it's factory state. Beforehand you will need to backup files and yes you will have to reload all your applications.

    2. Configfree is installed and running but it keeps advising me that my wireless switch is turned off. It is clearly on.
    Any suggestions please

Tobi is right. Original recovery CDs you can order by service partner in your country. If you need addresses you can find them under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com ?Support & Downloads ?Find an Authorized service provider.
Issue with ConfigFree is very strange. Do you use right ConfigFree version for Satellite Pro M70?

    Hi
You mean you cannot boot the notebook using the Toshiba Recovery disk which you have created?
Go to the BIOS and check if the CD/DVD drive is recognized. It should be listed on the first BIOS page.
If the CD/DVD drive is not listed then you should set the SATA mode to compatible and should save the changes.
After that try to boot again from the Recovery disk.
    I also searched on the Toshiba European driver page for some info and found some details;
There is a firmware update for CD/DVD drive TS-L633A and TS-L633P.
This Firmware solve "Sometime not able to writing on DVD+R media".
The issue happens only DVD+R media, other kind of media have no problem.

  • Satellite L500D PSLK0A Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator does not run correctly

    Hi,
I am trying to create a recovery disc for my Toshiba Satellite L500D PSLK0A-00U009.
When I run the Recovery Disc Creator it begins to open then it comes up with a box with an exclamation mark then it says 'Can not open target partition'. Then the Recovery Disc Creator will open. It then appears normal then when I insert a CD to being the process it looks as though it is going to work then it says Error and stops and ejects the CD the Error is code is: 0E01B5-26-510444D9
I have already uninstalled then program then reinstalled it using a download from the MyToshiba website and this did not fix the problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
Did you try different disks from different manufactures?
How about the usage of USB flash memory stick? As far as I know you can create an bootable USB Recovery flash stick too.

  • Satellite L500D: 64bit Win recovery disc is 32-bit - can I restore 64 bit?

    Hi all,
    I have a Satellite L500D, which has Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.
The recovery CD I have is only 32-bit, however, and I need to reinstall Windows.
I'm assuming this disk can only install the 32-bit version, and doesn't give you the option - so after it is installed, is there still a partition on the HDD for the 64-bit version?
If possible I would like to still use the 64-bit edition.
    Thanks!

    Please be careful with this.
Before you want to use recovery DVD you must create 64bit recovery disc version using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator.
Many Toshiba notebooks are delivered with:
-preinstalled Win7 64bit version (recovery disc is not in package)
-additional 32bit version as recovery disc.
Im not 100% sure but I think that after 32bit version you may not have access to 64bit recovery image saved on HDD. Please create 64bit recovery disc before you change anything.
After doing this you will be sure that you can install 64bit using created discs.

  • Satellite Pro L650 - System Recovery Media lost

    Hello,
    excuse my English pronunciation.
I got a laptop of my clients who has unfortunately created during installation no backup. Now he has installed Windows XP directly after the purchase and created no medium. Since we ourselves only Professional - customers we have no installation disc for the customer. Is there a way to help our customers and to get an installation disk for Windows 7 64bit without buying?
    Thanks for answers.
    Tobias

    > ...and to get an installation disk for Windows 7 64bit without buying?
And how to do this? Your client was warned by Toshiba reminder that recovery disc should be created for further OS installation in case HDD recovery will be damaged or deleted.
So now if he wants to have recovery image again he must buy it. as second option there is OS installation using Microsoft installation disc.
All necessary drivers, tools and utilities must be installed additionally one by one but all of them you can find on Toshiba download page.
    One more important thing:
Many people here think that recovery image is saved on HIDDEN partition. This is not truth. HDD recovery image is saved on usual second HDD partition in folder called HDDRecovery.

  • Satellite Pro L300 (PSLB9A-02L001) - Remove Vista and install Windows XP

I am awaiting delivery of a L300. I also bought XP as I want to instal XP as soon as I get the L300. The laptop comes with Vista installed which I have never liked.
I was intending to create a Vista recovery disk just to be safe before I start the conversion.
I was going to let the XP installation disc reformat and partition the HD.
I was also going to download all the XP drivers for my model from the Toshiba website, then instal them once the XP installation had completed.
Is there anything I should be aware of, or have missed?

    Hi!
I think you are right but before you do something let me give you some words of advices:
Before you do something on your notebook or start to install Windows XP you should create the Toshiba recovery disk of Windows Vista. I know that you dont like Vista but with these disks you can every time restore the factory settings of your notebook. Independent on that you have installed on your notebook. You must only boot from the recovery disk and follow the screen instructions. The factory settings will be restored in few minutes and you must not install additional drivers. The disk contains already all drivers and tools from Toshiba and so you can save a lot of time!!! Furthermore if you get some problems with your notebook you can test it with factory settings to determine if its a software or hardware problem. As you can see its very useful and easy the recovery disk.
According the XP installation you need a Microsoft disk. You should format the HDD and then you can create the partitions as you want. In your case I would make one partition for the system and a second one for your data. The point is if you have to reinstall Windows XP at some point you must not backup the data first because they are already stored on the second partition and for reinstall Windows XP you must only format the first partition. Of course you can do what you want but so I install Windows on my notebooks.
Last but not least the drivers you can get from the Toshiba Australian website, thats right. I think it should not be a problem to install it so just download all and the Toshiba tools. After this the installation of XP is complete and you can do what you want.
By the way, if you have installed all drivers and tools for XP you can make an image of your installation. For example with Acronis True Image. So you can restore your XP installation at every time and I think this can help you to save time. I have good experience with Acronis and I make an image of my custom installations too.
I hope that was useful for you and if you have more questions, please let us know.
Have fun with your new Toshiba notebook! :)
    Bye

  • Satellite Pro A120 Freezed UP Runing Vista Mainly

    Hello, all
Am a New user of Satellite A120 from few months..
It was Working fine from few months but now It just freeze up while am working ... System Freezed and Processor starts making Noise (AIR pressure)
I did reinstall whole Operating system but no vain still same Prob
So i install Xp there it working Fine...
But whats with Windows Vista as its Designed and Recommended for Vista then why it not working well on it?
I did try Disabling Core Processing option in BIOS that did not help Me
Kindly any suggestion or anyone else having such prob?

    > It was Working fine from few months but now It just freeze up while am working
Maybe the notebook freezes due to a higher internal temperature?
My notebook froze because dust and debris inside the notebook prevented the cooling modules from properly working.
Vista needs more hardware resources as previous operating systems.
All the hardware components run with higher performance and produce more heat dissipations so using the Vista your notebook could reach higher temperature level as using the Win XP.
I cleaned the cooling grilles and the cooling ventilators using the compressed air spray
    It helped a lot
The fans are running quieter and the temperature is not so high

  • Satellite Pro A300-13X: Question regarding the Product Recovery disks

I recently purchased a Satellite Pro A300-13X notebook with Vista Business installed.
It came with two product recovery discs to install XP professional.
Since I decided just to use XP, I followed the procedure for product recovery and I am now running XP from the first disc. It seems to run properly.
I'm unable to install the second disc and wonder where it is for. It contains 7 application files 001-002-003-004 crc and tpa.
Does anyone know what to do with this disk?

Don't know what this disc contains or how to install it, but check if everything works and if all utilities and programs are installed, which you had under Windows Vista.

  • Satellite Pro L - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 possible?

Does anyone know if the Satellite Pro Recovery disc (Vista) qualifies as a basis for upgrading to Windows 7 using a Microsoft Upgrade Edition disc? Or is the full retail new version needed?

    Hi seoras,
I dont see a reason why it should be not possible...
I mean if you install Vista from Toshiba recovery disk its the same Vista as from a Microsoft disk but with all drivers and tools from Toshiba.
So just buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk that is cheaper as a full version and start the upgrade. Thats all!
If you need new drivers after Windows 7 installation, just check the Toshiba website. On this page you can find all downloads for your notebook.

would be very greatful if you could give me step by step instuctions on how to use recovery disc.

To use recovery disc is very simply.
    Just do the follow:
    - Start your notebook and press F12
    - When the boot menu is shown put recovery media into optical disc drive
    - Choose CD/DVD drive on the list and press ENTER
    - Follow the menu on the screen
    - There is nothing you can choose or set. Just follow menu steps and confirm with OK
After recovery image installation leave notebook to complete installation.
Please note: recovery procedure will erase whole HDD and all saved data will be deleted. So, before you start installation back up all your important data.
    Thats all!
