Satellite Pro U300-143 Ram DDR2 800 supported?

Hello, I'm new of the forum.
Someone know if it's possible to use DDR2 800 to replace old 667?
The bus of the mainboard is also going at 800.
Thank you.

Hi
It makes no sense to use faster modules if the chipset would not support the FSB speed of 800Mhz. the FSB would slow down the memory speed to the same speed which is supported by front side bus.
I recommend checking you chipset. Then you will know, what FSB speed is supported.
If FSB would support 800Mhz, then you can use such modules.

  • Satellite Pro U300 shows "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" message

I hope someone will be able to help me...
I have a Satellite Pro U300 and recently it comes up with a stop error screen with the message Unmountable_Boot_Volume.
On booting the machine I am told that windows did not start properlly because of a HW or SW problem. I am given the options to start windows normally, return to last known good configuration or open in safemode, however all of these lead to the error message Unmountable_Boot_Volume.
I am instructed to make sure any new HW or SW is properly installed and disable them if necessary. However, I have not installed anything recently and the computer was working fine.
The error message only appears for 4 seconds then the computer restarts and appears with the same startup message and continues in this circle restarting after each stop error message.
I am not a computer whizz as you can probably tell but I'd greatly appreciate it if somebody knows what has happened to my computer!

Sometimes the file system can get corrupted due to power failures or viruses or bad RAM.
First you should check the HDD for bad sectors. Run the Advanced test in DFT (its a bootable CD or floppy):
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
Second, try fixing the file system by connecting the HDD to another PC using a USB 2.5" SATA HDD Adapter. Run CHKDSK on the HDD.
If that doesnt work, you could try repairing Windows by going into the Recovery Options in the Windows Boot Menu (Press F8 before Windows starts).

  • Satellite Pro U300 very slow at opening programmes

    Dear all,
I bought a Satellite Pro U300 in Feb 2008 and I have only used it 3-4 times since then... It is very slow at opening programmes (I have only a statistical programme installed) and webpages , and creates problems when I try to download other programmes that have a different version than Windows Vista.
I really have regretted buying this laptop and I am looking for someone to sell it.
Before I do so, I was wondering whether I could uninstall Windows Vista and install Windows XP for example, or do something else that would make my laptop pleasant to use.

    Hi
The preinstalled OS could run slowly because many different applications are running in the background.
My notebook was slow too until some background applications have been disabled.
You can disable it in MSCONFIG.
Type in RUN window msconfig and check the tab called startup.
There you can find the software which could slow down the OS.
    Regarding the Win XP installation;
Yes, you can also install Win XP. Using the Win XP the notebook should be little bit faster because Win XP doesnt need many hardware resources.

I believe the hardware configuration is the same al over Europe, isnt it? With C2D T7300, 2 Gb Ram, 250 Gb HD AND ATI Radeon HD 2600 w/ 256 mb of VRAM.
But the thing that no Forum and "professional" personnel is capable of answering is if it is DDR2 or DDR3.
So please, make my day and help me. Cause Im getting quite aggravated?.
And do send a copy to ATI, Toshiba Sweden, and Every retailer that have this model.

    Hi
The Satellite Pro A200-1F9 belongs to the PSAE7E series and its a part number: PSAE7E-007004N5. Am I right???
The notebook was delivered with the ATI Mobility Radeon X2600 graphic card (sometimes called Radeon HD 2600).
    The code name is M76.
So I searched for +ATI Radeon X2600 code name M76+ and found these GPU specifications:
Video Memory -> External with TurboCache
    _Video Memory Capacity_
    Local cache 256MB/512MB
    _HyperMemory Capacity_
    0MB@Sys RAM 512MB
    256MB@Sys RAM 1024MB
Please note that the *total* Video Memory is *sum* of _local cache_ and _Hyper Memory_ !!!
    _Bus Width_
    128bit@256MB(GDDR2) Local Cache
    128bit@512MB(GDDR2) Local Cache
    128bit@256MB(GDDR3) Local Cache
    256bit@256MB(GDDR3) Local Cache

It looks like thsi card supports both; GDDR2 & GDDR3
This is everything what I found.

  • Satellite Pro L10: sound card does not support Windows 7

    Hi
i have a Satellite Pro L10 so i installed a Windows 7 on my system but my laptop can not support Windows 7.
I need update of sound card for Windows 7.
The model of sound car is Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Sound Card.
    Please help me

    Hi buddy
What to say first of all you will not get official drivers for this notebook for Win 7 or Vista.
This notebook is oldie and I doubt the drivers will be released.
Reading through this forum threads Ive noticed that most of the user use the Vista driver on Win 7 OS.
Maybe you should google for the Conexant AC97 Vista driver and should try a Vista driver on Win 7
    Good luck

  • Detection ram ddr2 800

    hello
    this is my config
    q6600
    msi p45 neo-f
ddr2 800 mhz kingston dual channel
    dd samsung 500 go sata
my problem :  the maindboard detect ddr2 memory at a bad frequency
the bios shows that the memory at a frequency of 667 MHz instead of 800 mhz
    thank you for your help

The BIOS reads the SPD-Profiles from the SPD-Chips of your memory modules.  If there is no table for 400 MHz (DDR2-800) the BIOS cannot automatically detect the modules as DDR2-800 sticks. Your modules probably are DDR2-667 modules with a manufacturer's "permission" to overclock them to DDR2-800 speed.  Check the Kingston Datasheet for those memory sticks to know the recommended voltage & Timings to overlock the modules and then manually overclock your memory using these settings.

  • Upgrade Satellite P 105 to 2x2GB DDR2 800 MHZ

    Hello everybody,
I need to ask if i upgrade my bios to the latest version; can i install 2x2gb DDR2 800 MHZ instead the 667 MHZ?
    Thank you

    Dear DrSeuss
You can definitely purchase your own memory and it will definitely NOT void your warranty as incorrectly suggested by Zerimar. Here are Apple's instructions for the current aluminium iMac:

  • Satellite Pro 4200 recognize RAM only in slot B

I have recently obtained a Satellite Pro 4200 and want to increase the memory to 320MB.
To start I purchased a 128MB module and have found that with a 64MB module in one slot and the 128 MB in the other the system only recognises the module in slot B.
Does the modules in the two slots have to be the same value for the system to recognise them? i.e. both 128MB or both 64MB.
If this is the case its OK but if it is not I dont want to purchase another 128MB module if the slot is unservicable.
    Thanks
    Billabilla.

    Hi
Wow Sat Pro 42000 is an oldie I didnt think that someone would use this notebook in the future I mean it was a great notebook but the performance it too low for present-days.
As far as I know the Satellite Pro 4200 was equipped with Mobile Intel Celeron 500Mhz or with an Intel Pentium III 450Mhz/500Mhz.
The units equipped with Pentium 450Mhz CPU can be upgraded up to 320MB. All other units can be upgraded up to 576MB.
I think the 64MB module should not be removed!!!
You have to use 64MB + 128MB or 256MB or 512MB (only for models with 500Mhz CPU).
    Hope this helps you

  • Satellite Pro U300 Expansion Chassis Problem

    Hello Fellow Users,
I am trying to use an expresscard expansion chassis with my satellite pro. Problem is that in device manager I am getting error code 12 for the PCI bridges in the chassis and error code 31 for the PCI bridge on the card I want to use in the expansion chassis.
I have installed latest BIOS but am unable to resolve the issue.
Express card slot in workstation is fine as I use a 1G Ethernet Express card without problem.
Hunting around the web it looks like the problem is related to the BIOS being unable to handle the number of PCI busses in the system, refer to Microsoft knowledgebase article 942959. This article explains the problem and how to reslove it for Vista and W2008.
I am running XP and the workround they suggest does not work. Upgrade to Vista is not really an option as software I want to use is not release for Vista yet.
My only options left at this stage are fresh XP install to see if it corrects problem, or fresh vista install and hope the drivers/software I want to use will work under Vista.
Has anyone else seen this problem, got any other suggestions.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
your problem is pretty unusal, but what I would like to know is: which model/from which manufacturer is this expansion chassis?
That would be interesting since without knowing from which expansion chassis were talking about it would be hard to find out where the problem exactly could be..
    Greetings

  • Satellite Pro U300: DVD issue - error: cannot output to external monitor

    Hi,
I was having problems playing a dvd on my U300.
Basically the software would load but when I tried to play the dvd it said "cannot output to external monitor".
Having gone through all options I could not find anything to stop this happening. I then downloaded the latest software from the toshiba site.
    dvdpl-20070807102909.zip
I resintalled this but got the same error message.
I then uninstalled the software and tried to reinstall but now it just produces an error mesaage saying it cannot intsall the software on this computer.
    How can I reinstall this?
    Regards,
    Mark

I presume you have received the Toshiba Recovery CD. Am I right?
On this CD you can find the Toshiba image file. This image contains the Vista OS, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.
But note; you cannot install only a single program. To reinstall a application from the Recovery CD you have to format the HDD and have to reinstall the whole OS using the Recovery CD.
As Gipsyman said, the Toshiba driver page contains update and the original preinstalled software is needed.

  • Satellite Pro U300 - DVD no longer appears in My Computer in XP Pro

My laptop CD/DVD writer was working fine. Recently it has disappeared from My Computer, audio CDs won't play, etc. The DVD drive spins-up OK when a disc is inserted so the drive isn't completely dead. Please help it's driving me nuts. Shmoo

    Ive got one solution proposal but I dont know if it will help you you have to try it simply;
Go to device manager and remove the CD/DVD drive from the list
Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then reboot the notebook and lets windows reinstall the CD/DVD drive again.

  • Upgrading my old Satellite Pro L300-1A9 (PSLB 9E)

Hi there! i am going to upgrade the cpu, ram, hdd and maybe heatsink. I would be very grateful if someone could help me
Here are the basic specs of the laptop:
Intel Centrino 2 Platform CPU: Intel Dual Core T3200 (2Ghz, 667 Mhz FSB, 1 MB L2).
    Chipset Intel GL40 Express
Integrated GPU: Intel GMA 4500MHD (1341 MB, PCIExpress 16x)
    2+1 GB RAM DDR2 800 Mhz
    HDD 160 GB 5.400 rpm Serial ATA-2.
I'd like to keep the upgrade under 200 EUR but i'm flexible. I am buying from Spain. These are the parts i've looked at
    T9300 6M Cache, 2.50 GHz, 800 MHz FSB --> 58 EUR here
4GB DDR2 800MHz sodimm RAM --> 55 EUR here, here or for example here
    MX100 SSD --> 69 EUR 128GB or 99 EUR 256 GB
Cheap heatsink for socket P (478) --> around 10 EUR, i.e. here or here or here
    Now my queries :
    Will all this be compatible?
Do you know any site where i can get cheaper ram? I'd love to get 2x4 GB
Is there any problem about the heatsink upgrade? Do you know if socket 775 heatsinks are compatible with 478? I ask because i like Zalman CNPS 8900 (33 EUR) but in the official documentation only mention 775 socket but i've read it is compatible (i can't find the link but i swear xD) Here is a post explaining the installation of this heatsink.
If you have any advice or info i should read before doing this please tell, thanks for reading, cheers!

You wouldn't need to upgrade the heatsink from a T3200 to a T9300.  The parts you listed should all work.  I have several posts on here about upgrading the L305 and L355's, which are the same series as the L300 and L350's.

  • Satellite Pro A200 Windows XP, 4Gb SDHC Card does not work.

    Hi,
I have had a Satellite Pro A200 installed with Windows XP, SP2 for some time - No problems there, a great piece of kit. However I recently have bought a new camera and splashed out on a Kingston 4Gb SDHC card. The manual for my A200 seemes to indicate that it my laptop is compatible with SDHC cards to 4Gb however when I push the card in the LED flashes blue briefly and then nothing happens. My SDHC card does not appear to be recognised by the system.
I see no errors in my OS event log and I have checked the slots operation by trying an older 512Mb SD card and that works fine.
Can anybody offer any help please?
For reference this laptop is a Model PSAE4E A200.
    Many Thanks in advance
    Simon

If the above fix does not work (which it didn't for me on a Satellite Pro A100 running XP), try
    [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923293] .
    That one did the trick

  • Satellit Pro U300 ext. monitor/projector problem

I have shared use of a Satellite Pro U300 and someone has messed with the settings I think. When connected to a projector and selecting monitor 1 & 2 or just 2 all I get is the default projector blue display. If I activate monitor 2 what I get is an image of the desktop background but no programmes. What settings are likely to have been messed up?

Is option Extend the desktop onto this monitor in Display settings enabled?
If yes remove check mark and use FN+F5 key combination to switch onto projector only.
