Satellite Pro U300 - DVD no longer appears in My Computer in XP Pro
My laptop CD/DVD writer was working fine. Recently it has disappeared from My Computer, audio CDs won't play, etc. The DVD drive spins-up OK when a disc is inserted so the drive isn't completely dead. Please help it's driving me nuts. Shmoo
Ive got one solution proposal but I dont know if it will help you you have to try it simply;
Go to device manager and remove the CD/DVD drive from the list
Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then reboot the notebook and lets windows reinstall the CD/DVD drive again.

IPhone 3G no longer appears in My Computer...can't get to my pictures!
I've been searching everywhere for a solution to this problem. No one seems to be sure what to do. I've poured over the Apple Forums, Microsoft Fix It, etc. No good. Hopefully someone else has figured this out and can help me.
My iPhone 3G no longer appears in the My Computer area. When I connect, my photos are no longer downloaded to my Windows Live Photo Gallery. Everything is fine from the iTunes side...it syncs, music is fine, apps are fine. It charges just fine.
But I can't get the computer to recognize the camera side of things. In my Device Manager, there is an exclamation mark next to the iPhone under Portable Devices. I've tried uninstalling that and reconnecting.
I've tried working with the Apple Mobile Device Driver under Services, making sure it was started, restarted and set to automatic.
I found a guy here on the Apple forums who wrote:
1. Copy 4ea12.msi from C:\windows\installer\ to the desktop.
2. Right click on 4ea12.msi and select uninstall.
This will uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support.
Follow the instructions and close out.
3. Right click on 4ea12.msi on your desktop and select install.
This will reinstall Apple Mobile Device support.
Well, 4ea12.msi isn't even on my computer. I don't know what that means, but it's nowhere. I looked.
So, if anyone has a fresh approach that could help me, I'd be eternally grateful.
Peaceim having the exact opposite problem....my 3g is recognized inmy computer as a camera..but isnt recognized in itunes?
i have no pics downloaded from emails (as i researched this before)
the other night had same problem, had to restore phone, and re-install itunes..then no problem...but tonite trying to add new music and same thing again.
disabled iphone under imaging devices, and its only listed under usb controllers...computer recognizes it every time
there has to be a better way than restoring/reinstalling everytime?..has to be some little catch?

Slideshow - save to macbook pro to DVD to play on non-Apple computer and DVD (TV)
I have tried to save a slideshow (with music) made in iPhoto to MacBookPro to then save to a DVD to play on Non-Apple computer AND to play on TV (DVD). It acts like it is saving but then .mov won't play even on MY Macbookpro. What am I doing WRONG?
This is supposed to happen, licensing issue mean that Apple can't AirPlay protected content to other devices. You might try VLC instead of Apples built in DVD player.

Satellite Pro U300: DVD issue - error: cannot output to external monitor
Hi,
I was having problems playing a dvd on my U300.
Basically the software would load but when I tried to play the dvd it said "cannot output to external monitor".
Having gone through all options I could not find anything to stop this happening. I then downloaded the latest software from the toshiba site.

I resintalled this but got the same error message.
I then uninstalled the software and tried to reinstall but now it just produces an error mesaage saying it cannot intsall the software on this computer.
How can I reinstall this?

MarkI presume you have received the Toshiba Recovery CD. Am I right?
On this CD you can find the Toshiba image file. This image contains the Vista OS, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.
But note; you cannot install only a single program. To reinstall a application from the Recovery CD you have to format the HDD and have to reinstall the whole OS using the Recovery CD.
As Gipsyman said, the Toshiba driver page contains update and the original preinstalled software is needed. -
Hello I have a problem - I live in France so this might be something to do with my service provider (orange). But I can't work out how to continue to get my emails on my mac mail application on my computer when I have icloud switched on on my iphone and ipad. I receive my emails on both iphone and ipad but not on my computer. It's as if my computer has become a slave to my ipad.
I can disable the icloud service for mail on my iphone but then I can't send emails from my second account from my iphone (I have both a .mac account and another account). When icloud is switched on and when I'm using the g3 on my iphone, when I receive an email on my orange account all I have to do is change the address from which I am sending an email in the "from" line from my iphone and I can reply from my phone.
However if I switch off icloud on my iphone I can indeed reply from my .mac address but not from my other address - ie the drop down menu doesn't appear which means I have to copy out the original email if I wan to reply in detail.
But if I keep icloud switched on I no longer get my emails on my computer - only on the server. I think there ought to be something I can switch over on icloud but I don't know what.
Any ideas?I would understand it if you checked email on your Mac, and then those messages were not available on your iOS devices if you had the advanced account setting "remove copy from server after retrieving message:" set to immediately.
I looked through my iPhone settings and don't even see an option to tell my phone to pull the only copy of a message and delete it from the server.
Possibly there is another setting in Lion (I am running Snow Leopard still) that tells your Mac to only synchronize mail to your iOs devices and is not pulling mail directly from iCloud.
You could try disabling your current iCloud email account in Mac Mail, and adding a new one and just telling Mail it is a standard IMAP account (imap.mail.me.com incoming and smtp.mail.me.com outgoing).
I did that for Leopard to get my email even to work after MobileMe is cancelled and it seems to work fine with my iPhone.
If that doesn't work, you can delete that new email account and re-enable the temporarily disabled iCloud email account from above.

Nevermind...I'm an idiot. If there are no photos in the Camera Roll, my iPhone 4s does not appear in Windows 7 as a camera, which makes sense. I did have photos in Photo Stream and a separate album, so I was some what thrown for a loop.

IPad no longer appearing on any computer
My iPad(1) has stopped showing up on my computer. Absolutely nothing happens when I connect it. Nothing in iTunes, windows explorer, or disk management, or in the device manager, nada.
I have a Windows7 PC but when I conenct it to my wife's macbook, nothing happens there either. And my ipod is recognized fine on this computer. So the problem really seems to be with the iPad.
I would do a factory reset if I could but I have to connect to computer to do that! I tried the Reset All Settings but that didn't fix it.
I think it might have happened after a recent iTunes update, and then a sync didn't work right, can't quite remember as it was before a recent holiday.
Any ideas?
ThanksOk not sure if this will help you. Seems with apple we are on our own. i have a windows based pc with XP opeating system. Since I did the update not only would my Ipad not show but my computer was slower then molasses on a winter morning. i actually went to add remove programs and was going to delete Itunes so I could download a previous version. Ah behold, next to the remove program button was a repair program. I did that and left for work as I didnt have time to do anything else. I got home the computer is now working. I tunes loads up easily and my Ipad synced. So maybe that will help you. It at least worked fro me. I dont sync my I pad often unless an app on it is having issues. So it was due for a sync and so my nightmare began. So if you dont get any answers from apple you can try that. I also read about being able to revert Itunes to a previous version with in the Itunes library. I am not sure how that works but I was gonna figure out how to work that out if my above mentioned trial failed.

No, the installer will tell you that you have a more capable version if you attempt to install Acrobat X on a system already installed with Acrobat XI.
If you attempt to install Acrobat XI on a system with Acrobat X then Acrobat X will be removed by the installer.
Use a Virtual Machine (VMWare, VirtualPC, Oracle VirtualBox, etc...) if you need both installed.
Now, that being said, if you manage to install both on the same machine without a Virtual Machine involved then you are asking for problems of file ownership and ActiveX control problems. On top of that you would be in an unsupported configuration. -
MacBook Pro battery can no longer be charged
My battery is 100% dead and no longer can power the computer. MacBook Pro 2008. Now the computer can turn on but the screen is black. I have tried an external monitor but that doesn't work either. I have tried from my start up disk. Are the 2 issues related or can the cpmputer work on only being plugged into the wall with no battery charge whatsoever?
Purchase a replacement battery.

My Ipod Classic appears in My Computer when I connected it to my new Windows 8 pc. When Itunes starts my Ipod is no longer appears in My Computer and is not shown under Devices in Itunes. It appears that Itunes disconnects my Ipod from the pc. My Ipod still sync's up fine with Itunes on my old Windows XP pc.

Why does my Ical no longer sync with my computer?
When I put a new appointment on my iPhone ICal, it no longer appears in my Computer ICal. I have checked all the settings on my phone, and they are enabled, so I don't know what is going wrong. My computer is also connected to ICloud. It worked fine before I sent overseas, but has not worked since I have got home.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings. -
My iPod Touch is no longer appearing on My Computer as anything but a camera. It is showing up in iTunes with all the music on it....however, when I update iTunes all this music was wiped from my hard drive. I cannot reload iTunes unless I can get my iPod to show up in My Computer.

Satellite Pro U300 shows "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" message
I hope someone will be able to help me...
I have a Satellite Pro U300 and recently it comes up with a stop error screen with the message Unmountable_Boot_Volume.
On booting the machine I am told that windows did not start properlly because of a HW or SW problem. I am given the options to start windows normally, return to last known good configuration or open in safemode, however all of these lead to the error message Unmountable_Boot_Volume.
I am instructed to make sure any new HW or SW is properly installed and disable them if necessary. However, I have not installed anything recently and the computer was working fine.
The error message only appears for 4 seconds then the computer restarts and appears with the same startup message and continues in this circle restarting after each stop error message.
I am not a computer whizz as you can probably tell but I'd greatly appreciate it if somebody knows what has happened to my computer!Sometimes the file system can get corrupted due to power failures or viruses or bad RAM.
First you should check the HDD for bad sectors. Run the Advanced test in DFT (its a bootable CD or floppy):

Second, try fixing the file system by connecting the HDD to another PC using a USB 2.5" SATA HDD Adapter. Run CHKDSK on the HDD.
If that doesnt work, you could try repairing Windows by going into the Recovery Options in the Windows Boot Menu (Press F8 before Windows starts). -

When I looked into it it showed an error code 39.
I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but it's still not working.

From my knowledge the error message 39 appears if the CD/DVD drive is not visible in the My Computer.
You can try this workaround:
Go to device manager and delete the CD/DVD drive from the device list.
Then go to registry (regedit) and remove the upper and lower filters from the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then reboot the unit and test it again
