  • Satellite C660D-117 dead after Bios update

Yesterday I tried to execute bios upgrade but it got stuck in step 3 (of 27 I think).
I left it as this for more than an hour, nothing happened.
I also tried to cancel it or press CTRL+ALT+DEL but the machine was completely frozen.
It did not react when I pulled out the power cord.
Basically the only thing that I could do was to remove battery that I did. PROBLEM - now the laptop is completely dead. Not like others were saying that it boots. It does not do absolutely anything - even there are no LED lights on when I plug the power cord.
I tried to remove the battery and hold the power button for a while in order to reset the CMOS, but no luck.
It does not react at all.
Do you think it is solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it is even possible) or do I have to purchase a new motherboard?
    Thanks

    > Do you think it is solvable by flashing the CMOS again (if it is even possible) or do I have to purchase a new motherboard?
Its difficult to say in most cases it should be possible to bring the notebook back to life flashing the ROM module (where BIOS is stored) once again using an crisis disk.
I dont know if this would help you but take a look into this thread:

Otherwise recommend asking an Toshiba service technician for a help

  • My Qosmio F10 is dead after Bios Update

My Qosmio F10 is dead after BIOS update ... it doesn't work anymore .. i update the bios from 1.10 to 1.20
the switch Led is always orange...
what can i do to make it work again ? or return the 1.10 version?

    Hi
You can check many postings in this forum about the BIOS upgrade procedure.
Mostly the users damage the notebook because of wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS procedure.
If the notebook is dead after this procedure so it could be a damage motherboard.
In this case only the Toshiba service partner can solve this issue. ;(

  • Satellite L650-1KR PSK1JE - dead after BIOS update

As the subject already states, my Satellite L650 - 1KR Part No. PSK1JE is totally OFF after BIOS-Update 2.40-WIN from bios-download-page.
I tried everything: Press all buttons, take out the laptop battery, only laptop battery, ...simply nothing!
My last hope is a hidden, very special key sequence for toshiba laptops or something like this.
Of course my warranty is already over... :-(
    Please help!
    Thank you in advance...

Sorry to hear you have such problem now. I presume something went wrong and now the BIOS chip is screwed up and in such situation you need professional help. Toshiba service provider can help you with this but Im afraid it can be very expensive.
In the past I never had such problems but on the net you can find many pages with description what can be done. Visit this page and check if you can find something useful there. I mean you can try to fix it alone.

  • Satellite Pro L300: BSOD after BIOS update

    Hi
after update the Bios of Satellite Pro L300, the windows not start!
Its show the blue dead screen!
    What can i do?

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS settings?
Im not quite sure why this BSOD appears but possibly the SATA mode settings have been changed after BIOS update
Usually the SATA mode should be set to AHCI if the SATA drivers are installed.
But if the SATA drivers are not included the SATA mode should be set to compatible.
    Please check this!
Furthermore you could set the BIOS to the default settings and could try to boot the machine again.

  • KT6V 7021 - OnBoard NIC "dead" after BIOS 2.00 update ... any thoughts?

    Hi!
Just flashed KT6V BIOS 2.00 and now my onboard nic suddenly stopped working.
The network adapter gets recognized by Windows as usual, but although I do get a dhcp lease from my server I'm unable to connect to any share on it. It's also impossible to surf the web or to simply ping any local/remote host. If I try to connect to the system from any other workstation on the lan it doesn't work either.
The network status only shows a great amount of sent packages - caused by AVAST! as it tries to look for an update on boot - but only "0" received.
I flashed the BIOS from the emergency diskette and did a CMOS clear (Jumper) afterwards. And yes, I did disconnect my PSU from the wall socket.
Since I need network access to the system I tried stepping back to BIOS 1.90 but with no avail - the onboard nic doesn't receive a single paket after it has got it's dhcp lease.
Any clue what might be wrong and how I'm able to get my nic back to work?
Thank you in advance for any useful help.

    Hi Fredrik.
    Quote
So if you were to downgrade BIOS problems would go away, right?
I have already downgraded to BIOS 1.90 and the problem stayed the same - the onboard nic is still dead beef.
    Quote
When clearing CMOS there can be no el. left in your system, so unplug power cable etc.
As mentioned in my first post I _have_ unplugged the power cord from the wall socket.
    Quote
If the new BIOS would affect NIC card... Hm, it is hard to see quite how.
I can't think of any reason either, however, the nic went dead after updating to BIOS v2.00. I assume that there must be some kind of "network code" inside the bios which has to do with the onboard nic - otherwise I'm unable to explain why the MAC address suddenly changed to "11:22:33:44:55:66". If I would only have a clue on how to access and/or flash the nic ... ???
    Quote
Is there any error marks for the nic in say Device Manager, if you get that far?
Nope, there is no question or exclamation mark on the network card in the device manager. Windows thinks the card is working, but in reality it isn't. As already stated: No traffic from/to the network.

  • Satellite Pro A300 (PSAG9E) - After BIOS update Windows doesn't boot

Reboot went fine after BIOS upgrade and Windows XP logo appears loads for few seconds then beep and reboot - last known good or start Windows normally same effect.
Rebooting back to start again - this is a brand new laptop - using BIOS from Toshibas official download site.
Pretty annoyed as trying to figure out how to refresh or downgrade BIOS.
Have taken battery and RAM out to see if I can clear it?
    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi
Hmm this is very strange usually if something would went wrong during the BIOS update procedure then your notebook would not boot up.
    It would be dead.
But in your case the notebook boots up but just the OS does not start properly
Maybe you should try to reinstall the OS again?
I see you are using the Win XP I think the Vista was preinstalled. Am I right?
Hmm. in my opinion you should try to boot from the Toshiba recovery disk and should try to reinstall the OS in order to check if this issue could be solved.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Went DEAD After BIOS Update

Had a horrible experience .. with good ending ... when upgrading Bios for my Yoga 2 Pro. So I'd like to share with others. I bought my Yoga 2 Pro last June (Man 3/22/14) and love it! But, it had problem restarting automatically after Windows Update. At least 3 times (That I can recall. Did not use it briefly from June 30 - July 22), the screen reminding user not to shutdown after Windows the update would stay on until I manually powered it down and restarted it. Last July 23, it did again after Windows Update. Searched Lenovo web-site and found a Bios Update for Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1 64-bit). Downloaded the new Bios (dated July 11, 2014) and went through the instruction striclty. First of, the screen responses were not at all as detailed in the instruction. So, the instruction is not very good.  Received 2 warnings: Make sure the laptop is connected to the charger during the procedure, and the bios is for Yoga 2 Pro ONLY do not install it on any other models. As part fo the procedure, the laptop switched to a Bios Utility program. Again received the aforementioned warnings. Update progress was shown on the screen. All of a sudden, then screen went blank and the keyboard stayed lit. Waited for about 30 minutes. Still the same. Press and held the power button down (not sure for how long)  ... nothing!   Just no response from the latop.  Called Tech support. She (the tech support lady) said that ... it is not recommended for user to go through the BIOS upgrade! What?  Then why post it on Lenovo.com? She also said that I should not have downloaded software from the internet and upgrade, especially for BIOS. Well, I told her that I did not download the program from ANY web-site, I downloaded it from LENOVO.com. She said further that looks like the BIOS update had damaged my mother-board, there is a problem with Win 8 & 8.1, and because it was my own doing ... the damage would not be covered by the warranty!  Considering the circumstance, Lenovo would waiver the initial $99 fee to assess the damage, but I would have to pay for any repair costs. In any case, I was so fumed at Lenove Tech Support responses that I hung up. close my laptop and put it aside. Almost 24 hours later, when the battery drained completely, I connected the laptop to the charger, press the power button to turn it on ... and ... to my surprise, the laptop booted and everything came back normal! The last (7/25) auto restart seemed to go well. Not sure if the auto restart problem is fixed with the new BIOS, but it seems to be. Time will tell.

Thank you for your posting.  I searched the net when I ran into the problem, but could not find any help.  Obviously, my search was not exhaustive. I was trying to make the following:    a.  Lenov should be more specific in their BIOS update instruction.  Their instruction was ... far ... far from reality.      b.  Lenovo tech assistance was ... not much help.  After listening to the description of my prolem, the tech lady immediately said that the operation must have damaged the mother-board, and that the operation is not ... recommended.  No guidance on draining the battery a or how to restart the machine, etc...  What I received was confusing that caused more panic!   As a note, I had done BIOS upgrade on DELL PC/laptop before w/o any problem.  I fully understand the implication of a BIOS upgrade, but trusted that manufacturer fully tested whatever that they post in their web-site.  Oh well, live ... and learn!  All in all, the Yoga 2 Pro is a great machine and I love it!  Hope that anyone who runs into the same problem will be able to get the needed help in time! Cheers,

  • HP P7-1154 desktop dead after Bios Update.

I have had this HP machine for about two years now, bought it new on November 2011. Last night I decided to find out if any of my drivers were outdated so, I went to HP website to download all the newest updates. After finishing the installation for all my drivers I realized that there was also a new BIOS update, so I proceeded to download and install it. after the installtion finished and I rebooted everything seemed fine for about 1 hour, however the system froze and then thats when my End begins. The machine will not POST, everything turns on, all parts have been removed and tested, but machine turns on and does nothing. And my conclusion is that sadddley enough my motherboard/BIOS is bricked. Is there any solution to my misfortune, I need this machine for work. Please respond to my post, I will apreciate any opionis or suggestions please and thank you. BIOS was updated to Version7.16 Rev. A, 2.6M.

    Ricky, welcome to the forum.
I am not certain that there is anything that you can do.  However, here is the "Motherboard Specifications" page for the computer.  Near the bottom of the page there is a guide on clearing the CMOS.  I would give this a try to see if it helps.

  • IPhone 5 dead after July 2014 update

MY iPhone 5 is dead after update. Apple has no answers but to sell me a new phone.  Any good advice ?

    firmamentfarm wrote:
After last update battery drained within a few hours, same after recharge.  Apple told me I have a dead battery and would replace same model for $260 (sorry, that is not small change and I live 3 hours from next Apple store).  Therefore had a local cyberstore install a new battery, however it drained just like the original.  Any different advice?  I understand that my options with the Apple store may be over since I let the cyberstore touchy it.
Yup, since Cyberstore performed unauthorized service on the device, the warranty for your iPhone has been voided, and that even includes the $79 battery replacement option from Apple or the $269 Out of Warranty option from Apple.
You have a paperweight now.  Sell it for parts to someone that performs unauthorized service, like Cyberstore.  Maybe they'll use it for parts to void another person's iPhone.
Next time, don't get unauthorized service done on your iPhone.

  • Satellite L630 dead after BIOS update

    Hi
I have a problem with a Toshiba Satellite Laptop L630 model PSK00E-017019EN (UK model).
A Toshiba software scan recommended a BIOS update and as I had been having some issues with the laptop I decided to let it run . . . bad mistake!
The laptop will now not fire up into bios so is effectively dead.
I have downloaded various versions of the Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disk (which will build a bootable USB flash drive with MINIDOS.SYS, PHLASH16.EXE and a generic BIOS.WPH) and have also downloaded the latest BIOS from the toshiba website.
The downloaded Toshiba BIOS is an exe file SL630_L635_WIN_B140.exe which will extract to the following files using WINRAR (I have also tried picking up the files from %temp% after running the exe file with the same result).
    The files I get are:
    BB10140.FD (4170kb)
    Ding.wav (104kb)
    InsydeFlash.exe (764kb)
    iscflash.dll (1760kb)
    iscflash.sys (14kb)
    iscflashx64.sys (23kb)
    and platform.ini (9kb)
I was expecting to see the actual bios in the form xxxx.rom or xxxx.WPH so that I could add this to the bootable flash drive to reflash the bios.
So my actual question is, could someone point me towards where I can download the correct BIOS.ROM file for this laptop and also where I can obtain the correct version of Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disk software.
Also could you confirm the correct key sequence to boot to the Crisis Recovery flash drive . . . I have seen mention of both FN F and FN B (both used without battery and whilst plugging in adapter and then power button) . . . the FN F routine seems to boot the Flash drive but obviously without the correct WPH file it will not solve the problem.
    Thanks
    Phil

    OK
.... well contacting Toshiba support was about as much using as whistling in the wind!
They had no knowledge of reflashing the bios, certainly could not send me an image for a crisis disk (even for a charge) . . . and their only suggestion was to have the laptop picked up for assessment and quote which would cost nearly 100 even if I didnt have it repaired. (I doubt if the laptop is worth much more than that)
So back to the forums in the hope that someone might point me to the correct USB Flash drive flashing routine for this laptop!
I have a feeling that the bootblock might now be damaged on the BIOS as it is now behaving differently if I try to flash the bios.
If I put the correct "bios.fd" file on a USB stick and then use FN-F on power up (no battery installed) then the usb stick flashes once, machine powers up, stays on for about 10 seconds and then restarts back to the black screen.
I have also tried (as suggested on one forum) putting all of the extracted files from the bios exe from Toshiba onto a stick + the FD file renamed as BIOS.FD . . . still the same result.
I am close to sticking it onto Ebay as "spares or repairs" . . . HELP!
    thanks
    Phil

  • Satellite A300 - touch pad dead after BIOS 2.20 update

    Hi,
exact model is Satellite A300 PSAGCA-06M01N running Win XP.
i had a problem with the webcam, and i read in the forum that it may be solved by a BIOS update. so i went ahead and downloaded the latest BIOS from the toshiba website specifically for my laptop model. it went completely well with no errors.
however when the computer restarted after the BIOS update my touchpad doesn't work anymore.
i went to the Device Manager and could still see the Synaptics touchpad device and it says "This device is working properly". but its totally dead and will not respond including the 2 buttons. before i updated the BIOS i had never had any problems with it.
Tried FN+F9 to no avail. plugged in a USB mouse and it works with no problems. In fact, when i plugged in the mouse the synaptics software said " Disabling the touch pad due to external pointing device" so the device driver for the touchpad is working.
if i remove the mouse it will say the touch pad is restored but it is still not working. rebooted many times and still the same problem. went into the BIOS and selected "Default" still a no go.
Can someone offer any advice or ideas please?
I really need the touch pad for the way i use the laptop...

    Hi,
thank you for your reply. i already checked the BIOS setting for "Pointing Devices" and made sure its enabled. its the only setting in there that relates to the touch pad. just to make sure though i disabled it and then rebooted, after which i rebooted again and enabled it to no effect. i know this is not an isolated instance, as my search has turned up some with exactly the same problem. I'm really disappointed with Toshiba.
    regards,

    Bug Check 0x113: VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR
I reinstalled the windows 8.1 but the second error code is still happening,
If this occurs just after restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, then you have a hardware failure.
If you installed Windows 8.1 instead of restoring, you need to restore to factory-new from a recovery drive in order to be sure.

    SORRY FOR MY POOR EANGLISH

    Hi
Its pity to hear that mate!
It seems that something went wrong during the BIOS update and therefore the notebook cannot power up.
Im afraid you cannot do anything else as to contact the local ASP!
The local ASP technician should check the unit and possibly he could update the BIOS again using an special BIOS and special procedure.
    Good luck buddy
