Satellite (Satego) P100 - Bug in Bios - Playing 3D-Games isn't possible !!!

_Hello,_
i have a very Problem with my Toshiba Satego (=Satellite) P100-491 Notebook.
Unfortunatelly the Toshiba repair service installed the bios version 4.7, after that I can't play 3D Games without strong fps-drops ! It's the common problem with the satego P100 class.
*The newest bios, version 4.7, is failing again!*
So I'm looking after a newer version, but there i still no one.
*The Toshiba Service isn't able to solve this porblem !!! Perhaps they could give me an older bios without this bug, is this possible?*
What should i do?????
(Is there anybody with an older version, for example 4.5, who could give it to me?)

Hi Ayce, i had EXACTLY the same problem, i'm guessing your using Vista.
The reason this being, is that the fan is not engaging when under extreme gpu loads (It's the GPU Fan.)
It's got NOTHING to do with the nVidia drivers, it's a bug in the bios when using Windows Vista.
I recommend installing the Toshiba Value Package for your Operating system,
I wouldn't recommend downflashing your bios UNLESS you know what you're doing.
To solve this problem, i had to downflash the bios to V4.2
You can easily find it on the web.

  • Satellite Pro P100-465 Vista - video play back stutters, slows down

I'm at my wits end :-(
uninstalled drivers - re installed drivers - updated drivers (nvidia don't even list the 7600 Go graphics card for vista - used other site recommmened in this site) - changed screen resolution, changed screen bits depth, removed anti virus - plenty of system resources available yet on every single video file playback slows down and speeds up or stutters especially bad when i full screen.
Tried different video files and dvds, different codecs and players, vlc, media player classic, neros show time, WMP etc etc all are effected. Seems like others have had similar problems and thought maybe they had some more ideas to solve this one ??
Is there something i haven't tried ? please let me know... thanks for your help

  • Re: Satellite L550-11J - Crashes if I play a game

    Modell Nr. : PSLN8E-012013GR
Installed: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit ( all drives at latest version )
    Hi,
I am presuming that the main fan of my L550 is not running correctly.
For example I want to play a high detailed game with DX10, every thing runs perfect no lags, but after 1-5 minutes the system gets slower and slower until the game crashes to desktop.
Then when I am on the desktop the L550 trys to cool down.... to late dear BIOS ;-).
I had the same problems with similar games and even with benchmarks.
So my question is: Is there a unoffical BIOS-Update which will support options for fan control? I already have the latest BIOS, but there are non. Or is there even a programm which works fine with L550 ?
    Best regards, Amir.

    Hi
Just one question: What display driver you are using?
As far as I know your notebook is equipped with ATI HD4650 graphic card and therefore you should download the newest driver on the Toshiba page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
By the way, what OS do you use? Is it the preinstalled OS from Toshiba?
If you use Windows Vista you can change the cooling method in Vista Power Management. Set the maximum cooling option and test it again.
    Does it work?

  • Satellite Pro C660-1T1: unable to play 3D games

Got a few games from Steam and each time I try to play them they do the whole initialising thing and then the process just shuts down.
Checked out the Event viewer log and there is an error message:

I don't think it is a problem with the games as I have reinstalled them and the same thing happens.
All drivers are the latest ones available.
    System is a Sattellite Pro C660 1T1, running Win 7 Home (64).
    Any help muchly appreciated.

    Hi mate
    > Faulting module name: aticfx32.dll, version: 8.17.10.1047, time stamp: 0x4cabd6fc
    There is notice about aticfx32.dll.
The file belongs to the ATI Technologies Inc. Radeon DirectX 11 Driver.
    Its graphic card driver
The games are not known to me but regarding to the error message, it seems that there is a compatibility issue between game and GPU driver
Therefore I would recommend updating the display driver

  • Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) - No Sound Following Win 7 Clean Install

Hello, A European friend really struggling and looking for help.
I have just clean installed Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) which was purchased in November 2006. It was previously running XP and I never installed Vista though the laptop is badged Vista Capable) I followed the Win 7 bios/driver/software install order but I now have no sound at all. Everything that I have tried so far has failed to fix it.
The laptop has a Conexant based audio solution with harman kardon speakers. Win 7 has installed the following driver which reports the following info.
High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft Driver version 6.1.7601.17514 dated 11/19/2010) and Device status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    Hardware IDs:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31
There is a second exclamation mark in Device Manager for a further unknown device / uninstalled driver (showing code 28) for a device with a Hardware ID of ACPI\SMCB000 but I do not know what this device is!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for my sound issue?
    Thanks!
    Martyn

Any one have any thoughts on this issue?
I have failed to locate a working / compatible Windows 7 x64 driver for Conexant HD Audio!
    Perhaps there isn't one?
Perhaps I need to try harder?!?
Perhaps the on board sound solution featuring Conexant HD Audio is simply ****** as on www.conexant.com they say manufacturers have TOLD them NOT to make drivers available (... to poor unfortunate users)!!!
I think that manufacturers need to step up to the plate and support / help their customers.  I own 4 Satellite Pro laptops running Vista x32 and Windows 7 x64. This one cost me well over £1,200 so I don't want to hear or conclude that it is simply scrap!  That would represent truly poor value for money - the kind of business case that would undermine my belief that Toshiba laptops are the best in the business.
Ditto Microsoft - the Windows 7 x64 Upgrade Advisor tool gave me the all clear to upgrade this system.  All generally appears fine EXCEPT the lack of sound.
Having now been exposed to the experience of many other laptop owners set out in various forums etc, covering both Toshiba laptops and some other major brands, I have to conclude that the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is flawed and that a successful upgrade is somewhat hit and miss affair.  Beware!
That said, still hopeful that someone out there will be able to help me fix this issue?
    Regards
    Martyn
P.S.  I can be reached by any Toshiba or Microsoft technical support guru looking to make a difference and help me out.

  • Satellite Pro P100 PSPAEA - Irritating Fan Noise

    Hi,
I have a Satellite Pro P100 PSPAEA and it honestly must be the most irritating laptop I have ever owned.
The problem is the cooling fan that has a tendancy to spin up to maximum regularly, sit there for a couple of seconds then spin down.
Rather than just increasing in speed to cool it kinda roars for a second or two then reduces speed. It can do this like every 15 seconds or so and is driving me nuts especially in a quiet room. I am running Windows Vista and the latest V4.4 BIOS. I am ready to kick this thing out the door and never buy Toshiba again.
But before I do this does anyone know of a solution?
    Thanks

Updating the driver does seem to have fixed the probem.
    Thank you very much!
Now if only I could get VT working the laptops stay of execution could last significantly longer!
I do recommend installing a 7200rpm drive for this particular model. The one Toshiba ships with it is appallingly slow (what were they thinking).

  • Satego P100 - Screen goes black

    Hello,
if i power up my notebook there are no problems. After maybe 5 minutes the screen goes Black and after some minutes there is comming a bluescreen. The notebook restart. But now I have lines over the display during BIOS display and the Windows power up display but during operation nothing. If the notebook is powered up after minutes the same, it goes black and then bluescreen.
BIOS and System reinstalled. nothing happens. I think BIOS is faultily, because there are lines across the screen when I power up the notebook again.
If I leave the notebook for 15 minutes off, he starts normally but aftern maybe 5 minutes he starts again with bluescreen and other funny stuff.
Now's anybody the problem and a solution?
I think the BIOS is with a Virus destroyed. But I think on a notebook it is not possible to change only the BIOS. Because the Update of it was ok but the problem remains.
    Regards and Thx for answers

the os is vista 32-bit and yes i had a other driver for my graphic gard.
i removed the harddisk and i had done a completly ereasing of it. to remove also the mbr. but nothing changes. also i test it out to erease the bios, also nothing happens. an idea is a faulty graphic card. i do some other checks and if nothing happens i send it to a service station. i have a good insurance to the notebook.
maybe you have an other idea to fix my notebook.
p.s.: the satego p100 is the first notebook in my live what can not bear up price performance.
the next is a desktop pc. for less money and much more power and performance.
    thx and regards

  • Need Vista 64-bit drivers for Satellite Pro P100

    Hello,
I have one question about Drivers for Vista 64bit version. I have a notebook Satellite Pro P100 and search in the drivers catalogue and find only a BIOS update for 64-bit systems.
But where can I find the Hardware drivers for 64-bit versions?
    Regards
    Mischa

The 4 GB RAM issue is a known issue at the toshiba helpdesk (yes I had it and called) it's due to a problem programming the BIOS to handle more then 3GB.
As for your drivers I can tell you in advance you can find everything except SD Card driver and the microphone jack in plug support driver.
I'm sorry I forgot where I found those but the rest is out there (you can also try installing 32-bit version for the most).
Ow and the BIOS - update for 64 bit doesn't work for me so don't count on it to much lol

  • Satellite L850: Playing a Game - holding spacebar freezes cursor

Got my first Toshiba with my first Windows 8 experience so IDK.
But, I play some games where the spacebar its needed to play the game, holding spacebar and double clicking on a map it allows u to select whatever u want. With this Satellite L850-1P9 I cant do it, holding spacebar freezes the cursor.
    Any idea?
    Thks

    > the problem is in, or because Im using windows 8
So in such case you will need to use Win 7
    > or because notebook, cause the spacebar as the function of zoom + to.
Usually the notebook supports function buttons.
The space bar is one of such button which provides additional functionality.
Usually this happens if you press Fn + Space bar.
But you can also disable this function in BIOS (Advanced -> System Configuration)

  • Satellite Pro P100 - Can't connect to Internet via LAN

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P100. Model No SPSA4A-005002
I used my recovery disk and wiped my computer, because of a virus and now I cant connect to the internet via cable but my wireless internet works perfectly.
Its completely dead there are no lights at the back of the laptop from where I plug the cable in.

    Hi
Is your LAN card recognized properly in device manager?
In your case I would try updating the LAN driver. You can get the latest version here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Furthermore you check the BIOS version. The latest version should be installed and load the default settings there.
In worst case its a hardware problem and you have to exchange the whole mainboard :(

  • Is it possible to install Win7 64-bit on Satego P100-490?

    Hi,
I wonder if its possible to install that version on my notebook?
There are no drivers to download on the toshiba page, so I'd like to ask if anyone has any suggestions for me.

    Hi
    Yes, this is possible.
Satego P100 series is very similar to Satellite P100 series and if you need Win 7 drivers I recommend checking also the drivers released for Satellite P100.
Note; Satellite P100 is a little bit older notebook series and the drivers can be found in Archive. In download form -> Product type choose Archive and then point to the P100 series.

  • SATEGO P100-490 replace DVD drive

The optical drive on my SATEGO P100-490 is getting worse and worse.
It started with delays while watching DVD movies, now sometimes even CD-ROM cannot be read.
So I suppose it is a hardware issue with the drive, a Panasonic UJ-850.
I was looking for replacement and in general I did find a lot of UJ-850.
But many times the seller indicates that for operation in Tosiba systems a firmaware update "set master" is required.
    So my questions:
Wher can I get this firmware update?
What drive model can I use?
Is SATEGO the same as Satellite?
P.S.: I am running WIN-XP on this machine.
I am going to buy a new machine soon, so I won't spend more than 100EUR for the repair.
    Many thanks for any help.

    > But many times the seller indicates that for operation in Toshiba systems a firmware update "set master" is required.
Fact is that not all drives are compatible and therefore you should contact the ASP in yoru country before purchasing an CD/DVD drive the guys could provide some info what drives are compatible
    >Wher can I get this firmware update?
Firmware is installed and you will not get any special firmware from Toshiba.
    >What drive model can I use?
See above you can get it from ASP
    >Is SATEGO the same as Satellite?
I think both notebooks series are very similar there is a difference between some hardware parts like HDD or graphic card but the whole notebook layout seems to be the same

  • Satellite A200 - Cannot downgrade the BIOS to v2.40

    Please Help me.
I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum in it.
For some reasons I'm not a big vista fan.
So i downgraded my OS to XP and as i was searching for drivers and all for XP i saw a Bios update for my laptop it was 5.20 which was for XP. While for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on website.
Now from here my problems started.
I downloaded that v5.20 bios and updated it.
Soon problems started like laptop gets overheated, it freezes, and sometimes refuse to give performance.
As i was unable to find all my drivers for XP i switched back to Vista with the help of my recovery DVD. But the problem remained the same with Vista also so finally i took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Centre.
They said there is a problem in motherboard so they fixed it but they didn't fixed the Bios.
I still have v5.20 on my machine.
I tried to downgrade to v2.40 but it always shows an error.
Can Anyone pls help me.. I'm able to boot with a USB thumbdrive but i don't have a DOS version of Bios v2.40.
Please if anyone can provide me with my version of bios.
I will be grateful to he/she forever.

Not even this when i buyed the laptop it showed me 749 something as shared Graphic memory now it only shows around 399.
I know this is all because of that Bios update.
Now im not even able to play good games.
This machine is almost useless for me now.
Any help from you people will do.

thanky you very much for ur response and time Raver.
i have the reasons for downgrade i hope u'll understand. Here they are :-
    1. From the very 1st day i upgraded to v5.20 my problems started which led me to take my machine to an ASP.
    2. Problems Started like overheating, freezing, BDOS, and performance degradation.
    3. Shared Video Graphic memory declined to only 399 is this am i suppose to get ??? i remember well that before upgrade to v5.20 it was higher than 749 something. i have a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 Gfx with 2GB of Ram in my Notebook.
    4. I'm unable to play Good Games, the games lags and its performance disappoints me. before upgrade those games were running smoothly.
All I'm asking u guyz is for a correct version of my bios which is v2.40 if u can provide me that i will be grateful becaose im fed up this v5.20 it is making my notebook a peice of trash day by day.
