Satellite T230D PST4LA-00R008 Atheros AR9285 WiFi / BT driver issues

Hello,
I have replaced HDD in satellite T230D pst4la-00r008 due to HDD failer.
i have tried win 7 x86 sp1, win8 and 8.1 x64 and am currently setting up win 7 x64 sp1,
i have installed all drivers as recomended by toshiba and cant connect to wifi or install bluetooth.
adaptor is an atheros AR9285. (installed wifi (from toshiba, MS and atheros websites) followed by BT driver filter followed by monitor and then BT Stack).
wifi drivers install ok and wifi networks are available but cant connect no error message.
when installing bluetooth stack it asks me to plug in bluetooth device.
will post more info as i organise all errors/crashes from different OS driver combinations.
could some one please advise me what the default windows and driver are for the laptop in reagrds to WIFI as the sticker on the bottom has been rubbed away.
thank you in advance

Hi
I found the specification of the Atheros AR9285 chip and this miniPCI Wlan card does not support BT

  • Atheros AR9285 driver problem, connection problem

    Hi
Downloaded the latest HP Assistant today. This utility scanned my probook and suggested several updates, including and update for my Qualcomm AR9285 wireless internet connection. After this update I lost my wireless connection. I had the same issue a few weeks ago, where I ended up reinstalling the probook to factory settings. The wireless network worked again after this prolonged operation!
I have tried several different drivers from fx atheros.cz but nothing seems to solve the problem. How can HP recommend and update that makes your laptop wireless fail - I'm puzzled! Router is a Cisco EPC3925.
Any suggestions to solve this would be appreciated.

This is the answer I sent as reply to the Case: 4650970052, which apparently had been closed down before I could make a response....
    Thank you for your email.
I have solved the issue with the corrupt driver for Atheros AR9285 802. 11b/g/n WIFI Adapter which I downloaded and installed via the HPSA recommended updates.
I eventually had to reinstall the 4535s to it's factory settings and the WIFI connection is now working again. The only driver that seem to work is the original 9.2.0.412 dated 21-04-2011.
I have also removed the HPSA utility so it will not happen again! It's very time consuming to reinstall. Even if you only keep a very limited number of software utilities on the laptop. E.g. it took almost 18 hours just to do the Window 7 updates.
But thanx for trying to be helpful.
    Best regards
    Stephen Canham

  • Wireless issue on Lenovo B570e2 with Atheros AR9285

    Hello,
I have just bought a Lenovo B570e2 with an Atheros AR9285 wireless card and have from now lost two days trying to make it work. Since it works perfectly with Windows 7, it doesn't seem to be an hardware issue. The card is recognized and the ath9k module is loaded, but I cannot see any wireless network, whilst Windows 7 detects more than 10 at the same location.

As far as iwlist doesn't detect any network, wpa_supplicant can't go further, and NM and Wicd are just wrapper tools for wpa_supplicant Wireless networks around are mixed b/g, no n capables.
I have also tried to connect to my network by using sscan_ssid=0, so that wpa_supplicant would try to connect to it but it didn't work.
meop wrote:This user posted a different issue recently, but at least he got the card working on Arch with Linux 3.6.2.. maybe you could message him?
Wow, quite strange, we indeed seem to have the same hardware and the same environnement, but not the same result, thanks for the tip!
meop wrote:The two solutions you tried were for a Ubuntu issue and a disconnect issue respectively, right? You could try loading a Live image of Ubuntu on your machine just to see if the card works on it, and then compare to Arch to see what settings or loaded module versions are different.
I forgot to add it to the "what I've tried" list, sorry. I have already tried to boot with a Live Cd of Ubuntu 12.10, 12.04 and even 9.10 (kernel 2.6.32)
Triby wrote:You have to put the interface up.  You have not described what steps you have taken to try to actually connect ... in fact it's not clear that u have taken any.  See the wireless wiki page and follow the manual connection steps.  Post the results/output of any failed step here.
EDIT: the interface "link" is up : <NO-CARRER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen 1000, only protocol is DOWN
I don't usually use front end like NM or Wicd, here's what I've done :
    ip link set wlan0 up
    wpa_passphrase <my ssid> <my password> > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Then no result. As I wrote earlier, I've also added "sscan_ssid=0".
The problem is that "iwlist scan" does'nt get any result, meaning that my network card can't see wireless network around...
    Thanks for your responses.
    EDIT:
I may have found something interesting, while I try to play with iwconfig and iwlist, something happens frequently in my dmesg :

  • Satellite T230D fails to create recovery media

I have a Satellite T230D running Windows 7 Home Premium. When attempting to create recovery media using a USB drive, the process starts by advising that the USB drive will be formatted.
At this point it fails with the error code 040EAE-57-00000000. The USB drive is left in an unusable state and cannot be reformatted by Windows.
The HP USB Format utility does manage to reformat the USB drive.
Before starting to create the recovery media application I disabled virus control, the firewall and Internet access to ensure that nothing got in the way. I have tried this twice with the same result both times.

    Hey mate,
Very interesting. I have the same model and I also created the USB recovery medium but at the end it was no problem for me. I also got an error message during creating the medium so I tried another USB stick. Before that I formatted the USB stick with default settings. So I started creating the recovery medium and this was done successfully with the second (other) USB stick so no problems at all.
I have used 8GB USB stick from CN Memory, model Spaceloop XL. What USB stick you are using?
By the way: I would recommend verifying the medium after creating (just mark this option in recovery media creator). That means the files on USB stick will be checked if they were copied properly or not. This could be important if your notebook doesnt start anymore.

  • Driver for Atheros AR9565 wifi Soalris 11.1 x86 url?

Where I can find the driver for Driver for Atheros AR9565 wifi Soalris 11.1 x86
    Regards
    Amin

    Hello,
The only wifi/Atheros card that is on S11 HCL list is AR242x 802.11 agb Wirless PCI Express Adapter:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/hcl/data/components/details/atheros/sol_11_11_11/7066.html
So I assume there are no official drivers for AR9565 from Oracle.
Have you tried Atheros (vendor) page?
    HTH,

  • WiFI problem: Driver is not bound succesfully...any comments how to solve?

After a system check my Wifi stopped suddenly working. I have
    - noticed that the WiFI-network object is not anymore visible in the Network Connections
    - run WLAN diagnostics with Deveice Manager ==> Tells hw OK
    - I have updated and reloaded the driver from Intel site and it went thru OK
    - after rebooting I still get the msg "driver is not bound succesfully"
    - radio is ON, many networks are available
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

I managed to solve the problem:
    - download the latest wifi driver from Intel's support pages
    - go to device manager and uninstall the wifi-card driver
    - reboot system: XP notices that you have a new unconnected device and fixed that
Worked for me!  Have a great day.

  • OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 Wifi still has issues!!

So, i just updated to os x yosemite 10.10.1 hoping that apple would've  fixed the Wifi dropping down issues, and as i restart my mac and install the update, and connect to wifi back again, it just drops down within few seconds like it did on yosemite 10.10!! I expected apple to do some serious maintenance on this issue but it seems that they didn't tweak a thing! Hopefully in the next issue it doesn't say
    Improves Wi-Fi reliability
    but it should say
Improved Wi-Fi reliability than the previous updates
so, hopefully this will be my last concern regarding this OS.
Thanks for reading and please do reply if any solution you're aware of!

This site seems to have some useful solutions. I just tried step one, and (fingers crossed) I seem to have a good wifi connection (although I'm just WAITING for that wifi signal to go dim ). At least it gives you something to try instead of waiting for apple to respond!

  • Don't buy U330! Wifi 'Local Only' Issue can't connect to internet anywhere!

If you are familiar with the local only problem, like I have become in recent weeks, you know the frustration of not being able to connect to the internet with your brand new computer when your ten year old laptop can surf the web with no problem.
Normally the 'local only' problem is restricted to Vista for its newer network configuration under ivp6, but after five weeks of attempt to solve the problem, I have concluded that the lenovo U330 and its components are to blame.
I hope someone here can help me stop advocating ban on purchasing U330 by helping me solve this problem.
Here is a list of things I have done so far....
    Clean install vista
turn off ivp6 in all network components
go to regedit and set ....world = 0
Fix all DHCH word32 key to 0
    uninstal ibm wifi connecting software
update the wifi driver from intel/lenovo
Still unsolved, I  installed windows XP and repeat step 2 - 6
Still unsolved, I installed Windows Vista 64 repeat step 4,5,6
There are few more procedures I went through to fix this problem. I have spent literally weeks trying to solve this problem.
Lenovo sold me a laptop that does not connect to following locations: Local library, school network, local church.
I understand this may be a Intel driver issue more than the lenovo laptop issue, but I don't care. I just want my internet to work.
I will appreciate it if someone can come up with a solution to my problem.  And please don't tell me to contact the computer administrator of my school/library/church/local library to upgrade their hub because my Lenovo is far too advanced for their network.

I am an engineering student and I have enough knowledge in computer hardware and software to know where left is from right.
My school network engineer spent over an hour to find a solution to this issue to no avail.
Therefore, if any potential customer whos knowledge in computers is below the network engineer's level should do themselves a favor and avoid purchasing U330 laptop.
I know it sound absurd, but this is the truth, and I really hope I can apologize to anyone I may offend when my problem gets solved.

  • New Intel WIFI Link Driver Randomly cut off Internet Connection

Two day ago I used ThinkVantage SYstem Update and installed Intel Wifi link driver (ver 13.01.1000). But since then my computer was randomly cut off internet connection, and the wireless signal strength icon on the system tray indicated no nearby wireless network. And then it powered off the wireless connection. Whatever I do, I cannot re-power on the wireless (I used Access Connection to power on the 802.11 wireless radio, but it could not be turned on and nothing happened) unless I restart the computer.
I thought it might be the router that malfunctioned as this problem never happened before. But after I checked the router and used another notebook to test wireless connection, I was sure the router ran very well.
Then I re-installed the TVT Access Connection (ver 5.61) and the Intel WIFI Link Driver (ver 13.01.1000) but the problem remained. Could anybody give a possible solution?
I also noticed on Lenovo's website, the Intel wireless card driver for T61 is v13.00.0000 Windows Vista 23 Oct 2009. It's lower than what I have now. Could that be the cause?
My ThinkPad T61 has the following configuration:
    Model: T61 8897CTO
OS: WinVista Home Basic SP2 32bit
    Language: EN
    Wireless Card: Intel 3945 ABG
Wireless Card Driver: 13.1.1.1 (previous one was 13.0.0.0)
    TVT Access Connection: 5.61
    Solved!

    Hi carlven,
Anytime when wireless driver is updated, Access Connections also needs to be reistalled.
Do this, first uninstall your wireless driver and access connections, thereafter reboot your system. Then install wireless driver first, again reboot, subsequently install access connections, reboot again.
When installing any lenovo driver manually, keep in mind they first extract themselves to a default location in C:\Drivers..., second .exe setup must be run from that location to successfully install the drivers.
    Hope it helps.

  • Wifi and hotspot issue!!!!! Help

The wifi iphone 5 issue.  Is it effecting the iphone 5 hotspot ??

I purchased the IPhone 5 specificly for the mobile hot spot. I got rid of my MiFi and I have been working on this for 3 months. Phone was exchanged for new one and set up as new phone 3 times! What really makes me angry is that they put me through hours on the phone, going to the Apple store, restoring as a new phone and replacing all of my contacts, re-setting up my voice mail...hours of my time when they KNEW none of this would work!
They know these devices are defective but refuse to stand behind their products. They want me to take some small gift from the online store. I am not looking for something for free, I am looking for a solution. I asked if they would defray the cost of me obtaining a new MyFi and they refused to even consider it.
Apple has a huge pull on me because I am deep into the ecosystem of Apple. I did this because I trusted Apple. That trust is dead. I am giving them one more chance to see if engineering can come up with a solution. If not, I am off the AT&T to purchase a Samsung Galaxy and release myself from all things Apple.
If you are having the same problem, don't waste your time. Apple believes they no longer need to stand behind their products. It's time that consumers help Apple regain some humility!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

  • Satellite Pro A10: New Atheros/Askey WLan card but 'This device cannot start' code 10

    Hi there,
I have a Satellite Pro A10 and have purchased an internal mini pci wireless adapter. The following information is displayed on my card:
    Askey WLL3070-D4(MOW)
    Atheros AR5BRB-43
I installed the card, hooked up the ariel's and turned the laptop on...the switch at the front now lights up and windows xp finds the new ethernet adaptor. My problem is this...
No matter what driver i install (and ive tried every Askey/Atheros etc driver from the first 20+ pages of yahoo/google) the card installs fine but then in device manager has a yellow ! next to it and says This device cannot start (code 10)
I'm really stumped. I have some more ram coming in a few days at which point i shall be installng Vista which im hoping sorts my problems out but does anyone have any ideas?
I've yet to find a driver which specifically refers to the AR5BRB or the model number WLL3070-D4.
Does anyone have a location for a driver etc?
    thank you

    Hi
I use always this page for WLan driver update:
    http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
This is a Toshiba WLan driver portal and there you can find all necessary WLan drivers

  • Satellite A100-1k7:Need Atheros 5007eg driver for Ubuntu 7.10 Linux

    Hi
I'm the proud owner of an A100-1k7 laptop upgraded to a total of 2Gb Ram.
I tried to install my new discovery, Ubuntu 7.10 onto it. I succeeded of course:)
However I do have on issue which I can't figure out myself.
My wifi adapter is not running. It's one of those atheros 5007eg's.
I tried to find a driver but couldn't find one.
Madwifi doesn't support it yet and ndiswrapper, well that's a bit out of my league I suppose.
I tried different tutorials but all of them didn't work for me.
    I got this far:
When i give ndiswrapper the driver install command (i'm using a winxp 32bit driver) it shouts driver already installed.
But when i try to see if it works i get the message wrong driver.
Could anyone please give me a good working tutorial on how to install drivers for this wifi adapter?
And please bare in mind i'm an absolute new regarding linux based operating systems.... so a tutorial which i could simply copy and paste into my terminal would be a gift of the gods to me:)
Please forgive me for my poor English since it is not my native language.
    Kind regards,
    Bas

    Hello Martyna
    >because it's not good answer that Linux is not recommended for Toshiba.
In my opinion you have misunderstand something here. I really do not know where you have founded info that Linux is not recommended for Toshiba notebooks. Believe me it is definitely wrong. There are many different Linux distributions and versions that you can use with Toshiba notebooks.
I see there just one problem and it is official Linux support. As you know Toshiba does not support Linux and at the moment you are on your own. Linux OS is very popular and I hope that more and more notebook manufacturers will start with official Linux support.
    Bye and good luck!
