Satellite U200-115: Does Recovery Disk contains WinXP

Does the above disk also contain (XP) the windows operating software? or should I be making another back up disk?

Hi
Generally the Toshiba recovery disk contains an operating system, Toshiba drivers, utilities and additional software like WinDVD for example.
If your notebook was delivered with Windows XP then the recovery CD will contain the Windows XP.
If the notebook was delivered with Vista then the Vista OS was placed on the recovery CD!
I hope everything is clear now!

  • Does Recovery disk contains everything what is needed

Im wanted to fix my mates laptop for him. He has the recovery disc but I want to make sure that along with windows the system drivers are also on the disc.
I ask this because I have made the mistake before of reinstalling windows and then finding out I needed the system drivers! So could someone just guarantee me that if I wipe the hard drive the "TOSHIBA Product Recovery" disc has EVERYTHING I need!
Please get back to me asap!

I dont know what you need for which purposes you need your notebook but Toshiba recovery image contains everything for well working hardware. The recovery image contains:
    - Operating system
    - All necessary drivers
    - Different Toshiba tools and utilities to make better and much simpler control over different notebook functions
    - Additional software like DVD player, Acrobat reader, Norton AntiVirus and so on
With short words yes it contains everything you need for start. Later you can install some specific software for your private work or business purposes.

  • Satellite U200-115 - CD Rom error - can't activate the drive from windows

    Hi everyone,
I'm having some problems with my DVD rewriter drive on my Satellite U200-115.
It works very intermittently and whenever I power up the machine, the first notice I get is 'cd-rom error' even though there is no disc in the drive.
I can't activate the drive from windows either (icon in system tray).
There is the odd occassion when the drive does work in windows but this is so infrequent that I can't remember the last time (I think it was back in Nov 08).
I want to restore the system as I am getting a lot of windows file icons instead of the proper icons for images e.g. pdf, doc, etc. but am worried that the drive wont read the disc or will stop working during the recovery process.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
    Best WIshes
    Nick

If its a software issue the drive will not stop working during the recovery procedure.
Do you get a CD-ROM error in Windows?
You could try to boot from a Linux boot disk. If this work it would be a software problem and not a hardware problem.
Maybe this article from the Microsoft Knowledge Base can help you:

  • Satellite U200-115 Failure to Boot

Our 2 year old Satellite suddenly refuses to boot.
    Power is OK
I have a 'Product Recovery' CD but this seems to destroy all programs and data.
I've never had a boot disc
I'm running (was running) Windows XP
    Any advice welcome.

    Hi!
What do mean with refuses to boot? Do you have black screen or can you see anything?
If Windows fails to start (however) I would reinstall it with the recovery disk. Of course all programs and data will be deleted but you can backup it, if put the HDD in an external HDD case or boot with a Linux CD and save the data on an external HDD.
The recovery disk contains the factory settings. That means a preinstalled Windows with drivers and tools from Toshiba.

  • Satellite L505-141 - Recovery disk contains Windows 7 32bit

    Hello,
I bought my computer last year around March. The operation system I got with the laptop was Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Lately I'm thinking of format my laptop by using the Recovery CD that I receviced with the laptop. I dont know why but the recovery CD has Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit! Why its 32bit and not 64bit?
The laptop comes with 6GB Ram and Core i5 and I wont benefit my laptop with 32bit Operation System. Is this normal? I was suppose to get the 32bit operation system (really wired if u guys make a laptop with 6gb memory)! This really makes me feel angry. I feel like I was tricked.
If ts the company that I bought the laptop from and not Toshiba's fault I demand and investigation or something like that since they really make a bad name for u guys.
Please answer me as soon as possible.
    tnx,
    Andrei Braunstein.

    Hello
Before you wrote such stuff that is not correct please check the specifications on Toshiba website first and have a look in your *user manual* !
The notebook was delivered with a recovery disk that is Windows 7 32bit so everything is ok with this disk and you got the correct one.
The interesting point is that the recovery disk for Windows 7 64bit you have to create yourself as mentioned in *user manual* ! You can create this disk using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. You need some blank DVDs to create the disks and thats all. After doing this you can restore the preinstalled Windows 7 64bit everytime when you want.
Now its too late for doing this but you can order a recovery disk here:
    https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
I can understand you that it would be better using 64bit Windows on a notebook with 6GB RAM but dont forget some older applications dont run on 64bit and require 32bit. Furthermore Im wondering that you dont saw a message that reminds you to create the recovery disk. This message you get after the first start of your computer:
    +Important INFORMATION+
+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+

  • Satellite 1130-Z25 - missing recovery disk

    Hi all,
my Satellite laptop needs to have Windows XP Home repaired/reinstalled and I'm missing the recovery disk.
A friend used his recovery disk to reinstall WinXP but it doesn't accept my licence key.
Can anyone suggest what I should do next?

    Hi
Usually the serial key which could be found at the bottom of the unit does not work with the other Windows operating systems.
The key belongs to the OS which is a part of the Toshiba image
If you need an Recovery CD try to contact the ASP in your country to get a new compatible CD for you Satellite 1130-Z25.
But note; As far as I know if the notebook series is too old then you will be not able to order such CD due to some restrictions.
In such case you will need to buy an original Microsoft Windows OS to install it on the notebook.
Then you could use the Toshiba drivers from the Toshiba European driver page
    Check it out

  • Re: Is Satellite L300D provided with recovery disk?

    Hi,
I do not get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know If Satellite L300D is provided with recovery disk?
As far as i know computers manufactured from mid 2007 are no longer provided with recovery disks for the operating system. How do I know what year my satellite is manufactured?
    Many thanks

All new notebook models including your one are delivered without recovery DVD.
Recovery image is saved on second partition in folder called HDDRecovery.
Akuma is right. You must create recovery media using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". The shortcut you can find on the desktop. Please do this and for recovery media creation I recommend you to use high quality DVD-R media like TDK or Verbatim.
You can install OS using F8 button at start up. The guideline how to do this you can find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Please note. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install other operating system on first partition. the second partition can be in original state but this F8 option will be gone.
If you have more questions please let me know.

  • Satellite C50-A-19T - recovery disks not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19T laptop with OS windows 8.1
Recently my laptop had booting problems so i contacted toshiba support and they told me to get recovery disk from backupmedia.toshiba.eu and i ordered the disk and it arrived today#
When i enter the recovery disk and boot from the disk drive (ODD) it brings the windows logo then after a minute it goes to a blank screen and i waited and after a while it was still a blank screen
I had already went into the BIOS to change the settings to boot from the CD but even after that the same problem persists
    Please help

    Hi
Go to BIOS and disable the option called: secure boot
Now you should be able to boot from the ODD.
By the way: please check if the HDD is listed on the first BIOS page (name, size, etc)
In case the HDD details are not visible, the HDD isnt recognized by BIOS this could be related to HDD malfunction.

  • Satellite L500-20X - No recovery disk

    hi all,
since yesterday my Satellite L500-20x have only Bluescreens called "Driver not Less or equal" --> Restart! He boots to win7 till login, after that EVERYTIME restart. I try a lot stuff to solve:
    Systemrepair (3Times) and no changes
SystemRecovery (by HDD not CD) Recovery works but still bluescreens and no changes to fix the Problem.
Memory check (from Win7) checked it 3 Times all 100% ok.
Toshiba HDD Recovery (i try many times but he shut down EVERYTIME by bluescreen while Process... so i cant do this - unpossible to finish Recovery!)
Thats the first Notebook I every buyed and I never heard of a Recovery Disk - so I dont create one! Now I cant come into win7 - so I cant create it now. Anybody have any Ideas? I want windows new to install... but i dont have the same Win Disk. Notebook Win = Win7 64Bit all i have is WIn7 32Bit for my HomePC.
    I need help!

Please dont be mad on my but you are responsible for this bad situation.
When you buy new product before you start to use it you must pick up some info about it and check which system has offered for system repair or system installation.
In users manuals document is clearly described how it works, what HDD recovery is and how you can create recovery DVD and use it for recovery image installation.
I dont know why you get this blue screen but you must install OS properly to see if OS can be load properly.
Can you obtain Microsoft installation disc (Win7) for testing purposes?

  • Satellite Pro L300 PSLB1A: Recovery disk not working - 0xc000000f error

I get error 0xc000000f when restarting and if i try the recovery disk i get error error: 10-FC12-0241
operating system is vista business and laptop is toshiba L300 PSLB1A - 02S008

    Hi
You mean you cannot boot the notebook using the Toshiba Recovery disk which you have created?
Go to the BIOS and check if the CD/DVD drive is recognized. It should be listed on the first BIOS page.
If the CD/DVD drive is not listed then you should set the SATA mode to compatible and should save the changes.
After that try to boot again from the Recovery disk.
    I also searched on the Toshiba European driver page for some info and found some details;
There is a firmware update for CD/DVD drive TS-L633A and TS-L633P.
This Firmware solve "Sometime not able to writing on DVD+R media".
The issue happens only DVD+R media, other kind of media have no problem.

  • Satellite Pro M30-344 Recovery Disk Availability?

    Dear Toshiba Owners,
Has anybody in stock / for sale ... The recovery disk
set for the M30-344 in English. My own set is only
in German. (Win XP Home / Pro)
    Thanks in advance,
    Antti

    Hello Antti
You must not use the recovery CD for installation. You can also use Microsoft WXP CD for installation. All necessary drivers on English you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite L505D-S5965 and Recovery Disk Creater

I did a clean install of windows 7 when I upgraded and no longer have the Toshiba recovery disk creator.
I can still boot the HDD recovery tool I did not delete this partition when I upgraded. I would like to be able to create a recovery disk for my system in case anything ever happened to my Hard Drive.
Where can I download he Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator tool? Is there another way for me to get a recovery Disk?

    Wait a moment.
I believe with your answers you go in the wrong direction.
Timox asked very good question but you didn't offer exact answer.
Please don't mix two very important but completely different things:
    # New notebooks are delivered without recovery DVD and this installations DVD must be created by notebook owner. For this purposes Toshiba has installed small tool called "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". This tool can be used for installations disc creation only.
    # I don't know what do you understand under HDD recovery tool but fact is that recovery image is saved on second partition and can be used for HDD recovery installation. This can be done if you have factory settings only. After own operating system installation you will probably not be able to start HDD installation anymore even if the recovery files are still saved on second partition.
As I can see you have US notebook model. I don't know exactly how it works there but the principle must be the same as here in Europe.
At start-up you must press F8 or zero to enter Advanced boot options. There you should find option Repair my computer and following this option you will enter System recovery options with Toshiba recovery option.
When you install own operating system this option will be gone. I describe now how it works on European models but I believe on US models it must be similar.
    So again the important questions:
Have you ever tried to start this HDD recovery installation (F8 or 0 at start-up)?
Can you start it now after Win7 installation? If not than you have a problem. I just hope you have created recovery DVD when you got your notebook.

  • Satellite U200-115: Vista found new device - PCMCIA MTD-002

Booted up my notebook and am getting a Vista found new hardware screen looking for the drivers for a "PCMCIA MTD-002" device. Have no idea what this is...but I am certain that I haven't used the PCMCIA slot since I got the computer. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Emul

    Hey emul,
I got the about the same problem with my Satellite Pro U200. After rebooting from "sleeping-mode" Vista is looking for a driver for the new found device PCMCIA MTD-0002, although there is no card installed.
Did you get your problem solved in some way up to now?
    Thanks

  • Satellite L500 - cannot create recovery disks - 0D00F6-49-00000001 error

    Hello,
My pc start acting up after i made a system restore. For exemple i cant use the fn key function.
Last week i decided to format my pc. But when i opened the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator i got an unespected error 0D00F6-49-00000001.
I mananged to create 2 of the 4 dvd's. Im using Dvd-r from memorex.
    Can someone help.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Is this the first time you try to create recovery discs?
How you have created 2 discs if the Toshiba recovery disc creator starts with error?
Anyway, in this forum you can find similar threads. Probably is some recovery file corrupted and disc cannot be created.
I dont think there is something you can do about it. Either it works or not. Maybe you should contact nearest Toshiba service and explain the situation. I hope they can help you with this and order original Toshiba DVD disc for you.

  • Satellite X200-1AA - After recovery I have the previous BIOS version?

I recently updated the BIOS of my Toshiba Satellite X200 1AA with Windows Vista SP!. After a few days, I made a product recovery using the recovery CD. When the recovery is made, does the BIOS return to the previous version?

    Hi!
No, the BIOS dont return to the previous version. The Toshiba recovery disk contains the factory settings of the software on your notebook and not the BIOS. The BIOS has nothing to do with the software on your notebook.
So dont worry, the recovery disk doesnt touch the BIOS and you have still the new version.
    Bye
