Satellite U300 no longer hibernates

I have a Satellite U300 which has recently lost the function to Hibernate. I have updated the BIOS, uninstalled and re-installed the Value Added Pack and Hotkey Utils from the Toshiba website but no joy...... Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Hi
I think BIOS update and Value Added Package has nothing to do with the hibernation function of Windows.
For me it sounds like that this option is simply disabled and must be activated.
So try to enable hibernation as Juan suggested and maybe this document could be useful for you:

  • Re: Satellite U300 - Optical drive no longer registers after prog uninstall

    Hi,
I recently uninstalled a programme for a DV camera on my Satellite U300. After the uninstall, I am no longer able to use the optical drive. If I put a cd/dvd into the drive it will 'fire up' however it will not register with the laptop to enable play. I have tried diagnostics test, but it just skips past optical drive as if it was not there.
Has the uninstall also removed driver software for the optical drive and, if so, is there anyway for me to recover/download the driver without a full recovery losing all other installs on the machine?
    Any advice greatly received!

    Hi,
is the optical drive present in the device manager?? If so, then remove it and reboot your machine. After that the drive should be reinstalled automatically.
If not, then perform a complete registry check with some registry cleaning software.
    Afterwards perform the first step.
If this does not help, then it would be better to recover your machine..
    Cheers

  • Satellite M45-S265 will no longer hibernate

My laptop no longer hibernates when I close the lid.  Even if I manually try to get it to hibernate through the START menu, it just reverts back to the desktop.  All settings that I can find are set to hibernate when the lid is closed.  I also checked the device driver for my newly installed mouse, but the settings look OK there, too.  Additionally, I installed and ran Registry Patrol, which found other problems, but didn't fix this one.  How can I fix this?

Confusing when you post the same problem more than once, Becky.

  • Satellite U300 connected to TV - Non supported video format

I am using Toshiba Satellite U300-15q and it has a vga output so i bought a cable and a box that transfers te analogue signal of vga to digital of hdmi so that i can connect it to my 32' TV Sony make.
But if i connect it it says on the tv in yellow letters non supported video format.
Why is that and how can i fix it ?

In the whole story problem is that you use third part hardware or software so this described issue has nothing to do with your Toshiba notebook or Toshiba in general.
On notebooks side is important that video signal is sent on proper way. What happen later and why this signal is not transformed correctly is matter of this box.
    Which box do you use?
In my opinion you should contact manufacturer of this box and their support. They should know how it works and how to fix this.
Generally speaking, Toshiba has nothing to do with this problem.

  • Satellite U300-130 - TosBtMng has stopped working after Nokia PC Suite installation

I've got the same problem too... with Toshiba Satellite U300-130.
Bluetooth had worked pretty well before I installed Nokia PC Suite for my mobile on my PC (the newest version 7.1.26.0 from website).
To be correct, at first I even managed to maintain a Bluetooth connection between PC and Nokia and ran syncronisation of contacts. I made several attempts but each time syncronisation run ended with message "PC coudn't get answer from your Nokia".
After rebooting, my PC went crazy and started issuing message "TosBtMng has stopped working" and it restarted every time I ask it to close.
Installation of new version of BT Stack (6.40) didn't fix this error.
    Please help

    Hi there
I answered an existing thread with the same problem, but no-one can help apparently.
Anyway,,, I can at least help you with getting rid of the looping setup. You need to rename the directory with the Toshiba bluetooth stack.
I also have Nokia syncing and it worked fine until recently. - I have to say I think the problem relates to a Windows auto upgrade.
How to solve this is a different matter. At this moment I have given up. The Toshiba bluetooth stack disabled.

    Hi
Please ensure that the Intel Matrix Storage Manger was included into the Win XP setup.
During the installation of XP, setup will ask you to include the 3rd partly sata drivers.
Then you should press the F6 button und could include the Intel Matrix Storage Manager from the external USB FDD drive.
I have found many postings regarding this issue.

  • Satellite U300 - Internet Explorer 7 shuts down when closing a tab

    Hello all!!
I've got a new Satellite U300 laptop and since the first day I bought it I have a problem with Internet Explorer 7 (running Vista). Whenever I close a tab it shuts down automatically.
The same thing happens when I open two IE windows.
When I close a tab in one of them, both windows shut down.
Tried and installed all updates from Microsoft, but no resolve.
Can anyone get a hint what to do?
    Thnaks

    Ups,
Seems like it's going to be harder than I thought... I cant't download IE7 from Microsoft webpage. It says that the browser is already installed on my machine. And since it was sold with Vista already installed on the laptop, no way to roll it back to the previous version. IE7 for WinXP won't work either! I even tried the beta 2 vesrion of IE8, but it's much worse, because it freezes every time I try to open any page!!
I don't even want to consider reinstalling the OS from recovery CD just to make IE work properly!! It's absurd! Don't want to waste time and my files. Could try using another browser but I like (or LIKED) IE!!!

  • Satellite U300-111 - Which Windows 7 version you can recommend?

    Hello everyone!
I have a friend with a Toshiba Satellite U300-111, and she wants to install Win7 on it.
Since it's got a T7100 processor, I'm thinking she could install 64bit version, but it seems like there are far fewer supported drivers compared to the 32bit.
Do you recommend her going for 32 or 64?
    Thanks for any answers :)
Link to the PC if you need: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=129981&tab=2#2

    Hi
Yes, for older notebooks you have a better driver support on 32bit OS because 64bit OS is only necessary if you have 4GB RAM or more installed. Otherwise you can only use 3.2GB RAM.
So if you have more less RAM I would recommend the 32bit version. :)

  • Satellite U300-159 - Bluescreen after Windows 7 installation

Satellite U300-159. I made a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Since upgrading it has bluescreen at every startup after aprox 1 min. Bluescreen ***STOP: 0x000000f4. The computer restart it self after a moment.
I checked memory with 2 different programs. No errors. HDD checked - no errors.
Tried to update BIOS but get errorcode 1275 using Toshibe updateprogram.
Anybody have any ideas what to do?

    Hey,
Im a little bit confused about your posting First you wrote that you made clean installation and then you wrote something about an upgrade
    Whats true?
Anyway, do you notice the bluescreen in safe mode too? If not it seems to be a driver issue because in safe mode no drivers will be loaded.

  • Satellite U300-151 - SD card slot not working

I have the following model Toshiba Satellite (U300-151 PSU30E-074017AR ) the
SD card slot not working I install windows XP SP 3 ,& the driver is installed 100% , I need to solve this problem ...
    plz chk this link:

    Hello
I think on your notebook are missing some drivers.
The SM Bus Controller driver is in the chipset driver package. So try to install it and maybe it works.
The drivers you can find on the Toshiba website.
Have you installed it with a Microsoft disk? The Toshiba recovery disk creator contains all necessary drivers and tools that you need and so this would be maybe an option for you to reinstall the OS.

  • How to disable SATA settings on Satellite U300

How can I disable SATA setting to install Windows XPon another partition Satellite U300?
    Email: [[email protected]]

Not all notebooks support such mode in the BIOS.
Possibly the U300 doesnt include such options in the BIOS and therefore you will need to include the SATA drivers into the Win OS disk if you would like to install such OS.
The SATA drivers are a part of Intel Matrix Strange Manger and you should find in ether on the Toshiba driver page or Intel page.
I used nLite to include such SATA files into the Win XP.
    Bye

  • Would Satellite U300-11V run Vista Home Premium 64?

    Dear all,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite U300-11V
The laptop came with Vista Home Premium (32) and I would like to upgrade to the 64-bit version and I am wondering whether my hardware is actually compatible with it.
I tried the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor but that had nothing to do with 32 vs 64.....
You can find full specs of my laptop at:
    http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?PRODUCT_ID=132428&DISC_ MODEL=1&service=UK&tab=2#2
Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated
    Kind regards
    R

Of course its compatible with the Vista 64bit OS.
The Satellite U300-11V belongs to the PSU30E series.
I checked the Toshiba European driver page if a 64bit Vista drivers are available but unfortunately, they are not released.
However, you would be able to install the Vista 64bit on your notebook but you will have to collect the single 64bit Vista drivers from other notebook series.
Many notebooks series are equipped with the same devices and sometimes you can use the same drivers on different notebooks.

  • Satellite U300 - Network Connection Issues

I am having problems with my laptop's network adaptors. The laptop is not able to connect to the internet with either wired or wireless connections. I tried updating the adapter drivers but this does not resolve the issue.
In the Device Manager section under network adapters, all adapters have a yellow exclamation mark next to them and 'Device status' for all the adapters is '*This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31). Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.*'.
Also, on restarting the computer, Windows prompts me to install driver software for *Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller* and *Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN*. Every time I try to install the drivers, it fails and the error message '*Unable to open the driver specific registry key for this device*' appears. I even tried to install the Realtek Vista diagnosis tool and the program fails to initiate but produces the error message '*Please install protocol driver*'.
I tried to restore the system back to a date that I recall not having the problems but the restore fails to complete. I get an message that tells me that the restore failed.
_Drivers:_ Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller - Version on laptop: 6.227.902.2009 (I think this is the most up-to-date version)
Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN - Version on laptop: 12.4.3.9 (Current version 13.0.0.107 not installing)
Can anyone advise me on how I can resolve this issue?

Installed SANDRA and re-installed the drivers based on the information obtained from the program. Still does not resolve the issue.
The LAN drivers (according to device manager) are correctly installed and the up-to-date.
The WLAN drivers are not up-to-date. On trying to update these drivers, I get the error message '*Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it: The system cannot finf the file specified.*'
The laptop is a Satellite U300-11V.

  • Satellite L735 taking longer than usual to start-up

My toshiba Satellite L735 was taking longer than usual to startup (more than a minute, usually takes 40 secs) gave it to the service centre, they said they updates the BIOS, optimised processor calculation, formatted it.
It was fine again, but the problem was back in less than a month, took it again, the person at the counter just reduced the unnecessary programs from the boot list, came back home to notice it was taking even longer to startup (more than 2 mins).
When i switch it on, its all fine i get the windows logo in no time, but after that a black screen appears and stays for about a minute and a half, then the homescreen appears, the windows startup sound thats supposed to play as soon as the homescreen appears plays about 40 secs aftr the homescreen has appeared.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    Hi
The notebook seems to load the windows slowly because too many processes would be loaded at the beginning.
First of all I recommend downloading and installing the CCLeaner. This freeware tool would help you to clean the registry and to remove the garbage from the system.
Furthermore you should check your processes which would be loaded at the beginning.
Start msconfig and go to StartUp tab. Here you can disable no necessary and not important processes.
I dont know how many computer experience you have so be careful with that.
If you dont know exactly what the single process does, google for more details.
Removing a mark near the process will disable this you can enable this later too
Furthermore I would recommend checking your antivirus software I switched from Norton Antivirus to Avira Antivir software because it much faster and does not need a lot of hardware resources the Avira antivir is freeware software so you can install and use it for free.
Last but not least defragment the HDD to ensure faster data access
    Good luck

  • My Satellite A100 would not hibernate

    Hello,
My notebook would not hibernate when I activate in the windows tool bar.
When I activate the hibernation it will process normaly but when the monitor takes blue and said "prepare hibernate" the monitor or system do not shoutdown(turn off),Why?
Is the same for suspend mode.
I made a investigation on my notebook and see that i have the hibernation mode activated in the panel control > Energy Setings > Hibernation
My notebook is a Satellite A100.
    Sorry for my english.
    Thanks a lott!

    Hi buddy,
sometimes such hibernation/suspend problems are caused by some programs which cannot be closed from vista. Or your toshiba powersaver is malfunctioning, maybe some settings were
misconfigured through what-I-know-what program or something else.
I suggest you firstly: When you try to hibernate/suspend, then try pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE to see which applications are STILL running. Try to close the apps sequentially to
see when the machine will then really hibernate. If this doesnt helped you, then try to reinstall the powersave (first uninstall it properly from your system) and give some
    feedback whats happening.
